For the majority of users (Two thirds) its NO patch in nearly six months...and NOT one (let alone two in sight)

 

 

I won't complain tho' - as has been pointed out to me on many, many occasions - expecting bug fixes to allow use of Aircraft modules and DLC campaigns costing literally hundreds of $s is an unreasonable demand...and highlighting it on the forums in the hope that Ed might listen nothing bar, simple "attention seeking"...

 

 

Luckily for me I didn't spend all that money in the expectation of being able to play DCS now...I merely put the money down in the hope that it'll be usable at some unspecified point in the future...

well it certainly seem to have knocked the FPS drop when you look at the tower on the super carrier on the head. Nicely done

 

Shadows are still somewhat problematic though and still seem to cause a big hit.

Ignore my previous post, I was running with my test settings with Shadows off.

 

Sad to say, that this patch has made no difference to my frame times for the Supercarrier. Still horrendous in VR.

Awwww, for a few moments there, your post gave me hope of enabling shadows only to be dashed by my addiction to the F5 key :)

Have to say that I’m impressed.

ED appear to have possibly reinvigorated the process for both release and spot fixes.

Thumbs up to the not just the guys doing the low level graft, but also the chaps above for making the difficult decision to put a pause into the normal release schedule to facilitate the improvement.

 

Fingers crossed for a continuation

can you be more specific about what you fixed, under what conditions were you expecting performance improvements?

Really amazing change :thumbup: .. where I was previously getting under 30 fps and had me starting to save $$$ to upgrade my PC, now the Hornet on the SuperCarrier is giving me 2.5 - 3 times more .. I was even able to increase my graphics setting, going from AA 2x to AA 4x .. couldnt be happier: :smartass:

I'm using nVidia's fps counter, on the top left corner :thumbup:

 

So, thank you ED ... this patch has saved me a lot of $$$ :)

Edit: My mistake .. I have the same mission with the Stennis and with the Roosevelt, by mistake I was using the Stennis one ... sorry guys. There is an improvement, but nowhere as dramatic. will delete the pics so as to not induce others to an error.

I didn't get any better here. The shadows in the cockpit are dropping my FPS. When I put the Flat only shadows into the cockpit, the FPS gain is very high. Over 30 FPS to be exact. You Rudel_chw has a loss of FPS in your prints from 103 FPS to 74 FPS. 29 FPS. Something is wrong with the cockpit shadows and the Super Carrier.

I don't want to ruin the party, but i've no gain on fps since the release of the carrier in DCS supercarrier.

We’ve been waiting 10+ years for an integrated benchmark. Surely the minimal development time required to build one is worth the thousands of hours DCS flyers waste doing inconsistent benchmarking attempts?

Have to agree, both users and ED would really benefit from a build in benchmark.

99% of the performance result threads and posts on this forum are utterly useless

 

(I have to admit, I also shared results. but thinking about it, it really doesn't help anyone or mean anything..)

Performance in VR dipped after the patch for me.

 

I had good performance in the standard F14 missions where you take off from the deck. Performance in Persian Gulf was worse that in the Caucasus map on deck in open sea but i didn't have any stutters and it was very playable.

 

Now with the patch only the F14 caucasus mission is playable but if i look over my left shoulder to the bridge i get huge stutters. It does seem to be an issue with cockpit shadows. I'll dig in to it a bit more hopefully this evening.

 

F18 looked a lot smoother on deck. I agree on the need for a built in benchmark.

Although not a specific unit of measurement. I can say that since the spercarrier patch, I haven't played my stable install yet, since my open beta install performance is almost at par with my stable installation.
