Imagine, one morning you see a posting by Wags: "DCS: F-16 Fighting Fookin' Falcon is now available for pre purchase".

When did Wags become Northern?

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Now i'm really curious why. For me that could only mean there is one reason for it. ED is going to surprise us with a F-16. Otherwise i would see no other Logical reason. [/Quote]

Where do you take this doubtlessness from?

By all the love for the Viper, there are many, many other planes which could be still developed, too. E.g. a F-14 or a F-4. Great planes with a huge fan base, but problably not so much classified stuff like the F-16.

Not to change this topic to a wishlist, but after relaease of the F/A-18 it's finally time for some big birds, for example an Ac-130 Spectre would be aweeeeesome.

To add some fuel to the fire ... we all know and complain about how slow development done by ED is. Or seems to be.

... what if ... I mean, what if this is because they were working on a big, BIG "side"-project (or rather The Next Big Thing since the invention of LOMAC/DCS)? What if that is (still) the F-16?

Imagine, one morning you see a posting by Wags: "DCS: F-16 Fighting Fookin' Falcon is now available for pre purchase". The forums will explode. The e-store will collapse ...

Nah, I am not saying that other developments would have been deliberately delayed for the F-16. But rather that all developments were already rather slow per se (Nevada/EDGE, F/A-18 and ... well, what else?) because they allways had to run in parallel to a F-16 - since the idea of a F-16 came up initially.

I live in a world where my favourite C model Teen series fighter is being developed by the best flight sim developer that there ever was.

I would love to live in a world where my third favourite C model Teen series fighter is being developed by the best flight sim developer there ever was.

But currently I'm so happy to wait for that Legacy Hornet.

Pardon the stupid question, but with both the F-18C and the Superbug being done (former by DCS), do these two aircraft not still have classified data? I mean, the F-16 is 36 years old. The Superbug didn't get introduced according to the wiki until 1999. Isn't even block 50/52 older than that?

Not trying to be offensive or flaming, just trying to understand why the Superbug is doable classified wise, and the F-16 is still too dicey. Seems the Viper would fit really well with DCS's established timeframe.

it is really stupid of ED if they don't model a hi-fi F-16, specially that the model is in the sim... the plane is declassified as f*ck... I dunno... Maybe ED is growing old and wrinkly....

I for one would support a backer based addon for F-16 or even better an ED official F-16. It doesn't matter what Block it is, so long as it can dogfight and pound under.. Anyways... this is the last I'm writing ED to plea them to reconsider. It is frustrating.

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

It does strike me as odd that no-one is doing one. It is one of the most popular, and yet least classified multirole fighters still in service.

C'mon... this is something that needs to be done!!! the whole world (DCS world) is counting on ED or some third party developer to create this magnificent aircraft!! Vipers all the way!

One day in DCS... Vipers will fly along side Tomcats... Bugs with Superbugs, Tiffy's with Tornado's, Fulcrums with Flankers and Mirage with Rafales...

:)The Future of DCS is a bright one:)

It's an immensely complex aircraft and there is competition on the market. Doesn't make a lot of sense to put it ahead of other high profile fast movers.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

The very fact that nobody appears to be working on an F-16 could be seen as validation of the reasons why it cannot be done, or at least, is not the best choice.

It would be more correct to state that no one has publicly announced they are doing one, less correct to say no one is doing one.

the trend seems to make the least high exposure model; so as to not draw to much attention to DSC World..

No kidding, How many of us would suddenly fall ill on that day and have to stay home for the whole week. :D It has to be done at some point..

ED doesnt care about your ideas, only their ideas unfortunately. If they cared about you had to say the f 18 and the f 16 would have already been produced. Who asked for an assload of ww2 air anyway??? Make something that makes money...come on guys

Come on, you don't know this, they probably have similar ideas to us, and I'm sure they monitor the forums with interest. Everybody here has differing opinions, they can't cater to us all, especially with the time these things take to develop. The F-18 is very much on the way, and plenty of people are enjoying the warbirds. The P-51d is a masterpiece...

Ooh Yeah..let's make a DCS module that almost got 10% of the vote!

If it were to be made people would buy it...look at the F-86 and Mig-21?

Very true. I would buy any and every aircraft on that list if they're up to true DCS quality. The Superhornet is just the one I want most.

May 16 DCS Update

As for what happens after Black Shark, the team has several aircraft modules currently in development (this could include development of 6 DOF cockpits, avionics or flight dynamics). While the A-10A Suite 2 module will still likely follow the Black Shark, the following aircraft are also now planned for DCS in development at one stage or another:

1- A-10A Suite 2 (latest version of A-10A in active use)

2- A-10C Suite 3 (we now have permission from the USAF to develop an entertainment version of the simulation we developed for them. We are very happy and excited about this).

3- AH-64A Blk. 49A

4- Su-27

5- F-15C

6- Mi-24V

7- F-16C

8- MiG-29A

Naturally, release of aircraft like the Su-27 and F-15C would coincide with integration of advanced flight model for missiles, advanced seeker logic and advanced air-to-air radar logic and modeling.

From many moons ago, the F-16C was already planned by ED to be made.

If that's changed is anyone's guess, but it was on the list.

From previous staff responses i take it that they are spooked that A2G radar be complex for the sim to run in the first place, at least on moderate-end rigs, even with optimization... Anyways, i'm telling you ED, you got a day 1 sale from me for F-16 , IF you change your mind.

They call it fighting f*cken falcon for a reason, you know...
