Okay - here it is, updated to work in 2.8. I know you wont bother but do read the ReadMe, it will explain how this mod came about, how it works, what is can do and what it cant do, why certain things you might expect to work dont work and why lots of things appear in several different places, which is what is supposed to happen. I have no idea what Mods you have installed in your games but I do know that this Mod does not conflict with any of the Mods I have installed, ie the other Mods I have used in this Mod, so if you have a problem it's unlikely I can solve it for you. All this mod does is enhance a number of existing Mods created by others and make them available in one place to be used as Eye Candy. With a couple of little freebie Easter eggs thrown in with my thanks to Hawkeye who found them and created them as statics for me. It's a rather large file, sorry. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UeayP-xRuPqXIj1F8KcUTGFUrQ4dAmVt/view?usp=share_link5 points

#################################### DOWNLOADS ########################################## Links deleted Some things are overdone and need to be toned down, others have ugly seams that need fixing. Wish i had the 3d model as i could do more trickery and seamless painting in substance painter... *oh well* For now ive only touched the color/diffuse map, as ill build the roughness, metalic and normal from that one. Its the same layout as with the current Dora texture sets but each texture is 4096 * 4096. I´m doing research on the panel and riveting patterns so not touched that yet, but its just that much i can do as ive noticed differences between the model and various other blueprints that i tend to go along with the native DCS patterns and just "redo" them. More research is to be made for the appearance of paint chipping etc...research is half the deal.. Work Work Work. The current livery is nothing specific, but i plan on doing each of the 15 Staffeln of JG.26, with each having its own unique color scheme plus Stab (madness), but generating these, once the base texture is set up, its only a matter of a weekend. Meme away mate; the issues that trash most otherwise legit Phoenix shots are partly to do with guidance (EDs responsibility), partly to do with the AI's superhuman ability to know exactly where an attacking missile is and defend perfectly (again, EDs responsibility) and partly with a whole lot of users not understanding that Phoenix performs best where the air is thin (cos it's one thicc momma) and expecting it to still be a 100nm shot missile whilst launching it against manoeuvring targets at medium to low altitude (disappointment due to own over-expectations/ignorance).3 points

Dear all, I have experienced multiple instances of ground units such as the ZU-23 or ZSU-57 hitting maneuvering, fast targets on their first salvo despite being set to the lowest skill level. This sucks. Please detune low skill level accuracy significantly. There's also some weird and ugly disparities between ground units themselves. A BMP-2 should not be as deadly if not deadlier than a ZSU-23-4, but often it is. Pintle mounted tank MGs should not swat hornets buzzing about at thousands of feet distance.2 points

I spend nearly 90% of my time in the sim in training missions and in that specific scenario the F16 is very much unfinished, or dare I say practically not operational with incorrect Master SIM functionality and missing inert weapons. Nearly all of the training/SIM features are missing from our F16 currently. I'll try to collect all the info necessary for ED to make changes in this thread (please add any documentation you have in the thread) CATM-9M Current implementation: Even though the missile appears in SMS INV as TA9LM when entering A-A mode or DGFT mode no seeker diamond appears on the HUD, no growl can be heard and the DGFT mode defaults to the gun with no option to select the missile. Desired behavior: Same operation as the 9M up until pickle where the jet should treat the missile like it's in SIM mode (no launch). Seeker should remain active after pickle. CATM-120-B/C Current Implementation: N\A Desired behavior: It should fully simulate an AMRAAM with a rocket in it's ass. Provided on the HUD should be the M/F pole, DLZ, and all the other symbology that should appear in MSL/A-A mode, as well as proper after launch symbology. PGM-65 Current Implementation: N\A Desired behavior: It should provide us with a view from the seeker on the WPN page, all up until launch when the seeker should unlock from the locked target but should keep providing the picture, as well as proper time to impact. I will add documentation to support this in the coming days, and any contribution by other forum members is appreciated. PS. Please don't tag this correct-as-is, because it's not. Thank you2 points

How do you expect it to be integrated into a module/framework that itself isn't even partway finished? Why should they burn up focus and coding effort on something that ED themselves haven't even completed and ironed out for their own ships? There's plenty for them to work on with just the F-14 itself while ED figures out exactly what they're doing on the SC module/framework. Right now we can't even access the deck crew to skin them because ED encrypted those away somewhere.2 points

So, I come to public server to fly and find someone to fill right seat. Mid flight that person has to leave (or gets disconnected) and now I can't change frequencies on 828 or Jadro, nor change countermeasures program, or use DISS to navigate? You are more than welcome to never switch seats if you don't want it. Some of us would like to have that option (for the record, I would prefer to fly MC every single time, but that is not going to happen).2 points

Guess what people screamed for before 2.7? ... Yes, that's right They do polls - I remember F-18 and F-16. They do roadmaps - for modules like F-18, F-16, AH-64... or DCS in newsletters, forums or interviews. If you look at the wishlist long enough you start to see a lot of new modules and features actually get added. Comms - forums, newsletters, discord, facebook, twitter... Still not enough? Public bug tracker needs people and money. Frequent roadmap does not make sense in DCS fluid development. Don't get me wrong, I wish all the bugs squashed and all features added but I'm realistic and prefer to actually play the game instead of waiting and hoping for things.2 points

We can hope, but let's be honest: Global unrest combined with some personal tragedy has guaranteed it's a '23 release. Can't really blame HB for it, but there's definitely a prick you can blame for it.2 points

I can provide some real world experience with the Tomcat an it's ability. Worked on them from 1986-1996 while in the Navy as an AD-2 (Jet engine mechanic). The highest one has been is roughly 61,XXX ft in altitude (that I know of). It's service ceiling call for roughly 55K any higher an you could easily lose both engines (A variants). At which point you'd have 15 min or so to reignite them. This was with the TF-30 engines. The early T-30 engine Tcats were prone to compressor stall at several regimes (high alpha, high yaw rates, high altitude). Pilots flying the T-30 cats had to continually factor engine limitations into your decision-making tactically and around the boat. Above 28K and into low 30K the T-30 engines just did not perform well. Once the 110s came anything above 30K there were no limitations. Endurance with 20Klb of fuel was what made the aircraft likeable. Max the load and you had quite an aircraft. Hydraulics were another issue with the aircraft. As I gained experience with working on them I could spot issues by running my hand/s across various surfaces and nail down where and what issue existed within the hydraulic system. The GE-110 engines brought an entirely new aircraft to flight. No altitude was too high and moved the flight envelope up into the ionosphere and crews were able to dominate. In slow flight a crew could quite literally fight uphill because the pilot could add energy quite easily. The aircraft was a true stick & rudder aircraft and required time in the seat for a crew to master it. At the end of it's life maintenance become quite extensive and costly. On a rough day it could take an hour or more before the aircraft was even out of chocks. Crews learned what to do with and what to do without prior to flight. The old AWG-9 radar was unparalleled and at other times not so much. Had a RIO once tell me he was able to make contacts at over 100 miles while on deck. The aircraft design was built around the Phoenix missile system and is why the fuselage was designed with it's engines separated by 9ft.2 points

According to the HAF manual, EPU use hydrazine only if bleed air is insufficient. When the EPU is operating, we can maintain RPM about 80%-90% to prevent using hydrazine. But this is not how it currently works in DCS. I turned on the EPU, and changed my thrust setting, and couldn't prevent using hydrazine. Both hydrazine and air light were permanently on, which seems to be incorrect. I get it that EPU always starts with hydrazine, but it should be only using bleed air when it's sufficient, but the hydrazine light currently won't go off in flight in DCS. Oh, there's another issue, maybe not a bug. When testing EPU/GEN on the ground at idle power, it should cause problem such as blinking EPU/GEN light, but that won't happen in DCS now. Here's my track EPU IN FLIGHT.trk2 points

A few liveries for the JR Moore Tugboat, all generic so you can add anything you like to the funnels, the hull and superstructure sides are mirror images so unsuitable for adding names etc. Simply drop the file into the Liveries folder. I have included a Default livery to replace the one in the Mod, for some weird reason the default wont show up in the ME drop downs when you have other liveries, it needs the actual texture files in order to work properly. https://www.dropbox.com/s/aod9tf89vyswnn4/jr-more.zip?dl=02 points

Just like the title says here are some reasons why Heatblur Simulations should bring this awesome plane to life as their next project in DCS World. Feel free to add reasons of your own and discuss below! :) 1) Swing Wing design: Heatblur have already created the first swing wing design in DCS World with the F14, and this commonality is shared with the Aardvark. 2) TF30 Engines: Another even bigger commonality that the Aardvark shares with the F14A, this would make creating the power systems of the Aardvark a breeze 3) AI & Multicrew: Heatblur are pioneers in this field, both with Jester and a fully functional multicrew cockpit in DCS World. With Jester they already have a basis from which to start, in the F-111 Jester would be the guy doing the navigating and dropping the payload. 4) Ground Radar & Terrain Following: With the raycasting technology used in the Viggen, Heatblur already have the basis for a ground radar that could be modified for use with the F-111 and would simplify the implementation of it's legendary terrain following technology. 5) Supersonic Interdiction & Regular Bomber: The F-111 served in multiple wars (including Vietnam) as the premier strike and bombing platform of the US Air Force. As such it can be put to good use both in single player campaigns and missions, as well as historic multiplayer environments. 6) Look at it! Just look at it :)1 point

Project the DED onto the HUD and tell me again if you dont lose any info in the F-16 or not. Think about your proposition for a second. If calibrated for the position all the way back, it means you are "wasting" space for all the time except in the few minutes at most per flight when he has the head on the headrest. You will have to use a smaller font, making it possibly harder to decypher numbers and text. Or you have to cramp the symbology together and make it less clear to see infos.1 point

I believe that's such a good point - and too seldom discussed. We all attach our own meaning/interpretation to words like 'realism', and (worse) we also assume this definition to be correct. Worst, we expect that everyone else uses that same definition. Since we rarely ensure that everyone agrees to the meaning that we ourselves attach to terms, we often engage in spirited, yet ultimately pointless debates. I think that being enthusiastic DCS players (being in this forum has a strong pre-selection bias) I can safely assert that the majority here is interested in a high level of "realism". However, being a pastime, everyone also understands implicitly that we mean realism as it applies to DCS; it must not go too far: for example, it would be very realistic if we had to purchase (at full price) a new model every time that we crashed the last one or got shot down. After all, that's what happens in RL. Nobody (with the possible exception of ED ) would want that, so in DCS we gladly disregard significant breaks with reality in exchange for better playability. "Reality" per se and "realism wrt DCS" are quite different beasts; we don't want realism just for the sake of realism. The question therefore is: where to draw the line between "true realism" and "game realism" - when we have to choose between playability and realism, which do we prefer? And where we draw that line is quite personal; yet many people (me included) project their own likes/dislikes on the rest of the community; we assume that their preference is the same ours, quite falsely concluding that everyone's definition of "realism" is congruent with our own. With respect to spotting/visibility of other planes I believe we all are looking for a solution that re-creates reality as closely as possible without negatively impacting playability nor balance. I believe there's a majority consensus that DCS currently does not faithfully re-create reality in this respect. There isn't, however, sufficient agreement to the root cause, much less on how to resolve this (which will have to come from ED). Personally, I have no idea if ED can resolve this; the disparity in technology used across DCS installations is too great: relatively lo-res VR versus Track-IR assisted 4k versus multiple monitors is but one of the many challenges, and it virtually guarantees that any proposed solution will have members of the other factions cry 'foul!'. Man, what a great situation to be in! No - seriously. Being able to earnestly engage in such a discussion is a rare privilege and show just how far DCS has come. I don't know how this will be resolved, but I'm looking forward to all proposals!1 point
-
except, a single pixel in 1080p is 4 times the size of a single pixel in 4K. As higher resolutions become more common, ED should take that into account. Spotting is an issue in DCS. Single pixels that may even be outwashed by anti aliasing (or other gfx) are not a proper real life equivalent.1 point
