  1. In light of the announcement from Enigma Cold War's Discord Server, it may be best to look into a fix/feature that addresses the issue described below: It seems there is significant server lag caused by many users spamming the join option on a full server, effectively resulting in an unintentional DDOS attack. Perhaps a simple queue system would help prevent this? What are your thoughts?

  2. For future reference so you do not think we lie each time a patch date is missed or pushed back, the development of DCS is very complex, not just the things we at ED are doing but all the pieces from 3rd Party devs. This means unforeseen things can happen to cause delays. What would be worse is to push out a patch that causes part of the game to cause crashes or be unplayable. Know that when a patch is delayed it's for a good reason, not a lie. Thanks.

  3. Dear all, A little update on DCS: AH-64D development. We understand that some of you are concerned about the lack of new features. No resources have been taken off the AH-64D, and work continues ahead steadily. Much of this work has focused on bug fixes and tunning. Before we add too many new features, it is very important that we first have a solid foundation to build upon. Additionally, a big push on bug fixes and tuning has been required to avoid player confusion and frustration. Some of the larger bug fixes and tuning that have been underway include: Tuning how George calculates target range. Corrected TEDAC video errors. Adjusted HUD only views. Tuning damage model like flying sans-tail. Adjusted gun fire shake. Fix multi-crew ASE sync. Removed HDU glare. Fix some engine start issues. Tuning LMC. Further improvements to the PERF page. Better IR texture maps. Lesson, input, and tool tip improvements. Fixes to the CMWS flare system. Tuning of SAS collective channel issues and altitude/attitude holds. Fix SAS tones and hold behaviors. Tuning yaw offset. Fix PNVS stutter. More accurate weight calculations. Trim tuning. Multi-crew hold modes sync. Fix hold modes disengagement logic. SAS fixes. Better SAS Collective altitude hold. More realistic slip ball behavior. APU not requiring fuel fix. Fixed various warnings and advisories. Fixed standby indicators. Tuning TADS and NVS relationship. This is to name a few. A great deal of work on this front is ongoing. Although bug fixing and tuning has been our priority, we have certainly been working on new features that are not gated by existing bugs. Some of these include: Option to remove the auxiliary fuel tank for more cannon rounds. Adding the AGM-114L radar-guided Hellfire. Adding the Improved Datalink Modem (IDM) and LB Net. Adding the Fire Control Radar (FCR). Adding the Laser Spot Tracker (LST). Adding animated engine nacelle cooling doors. Wipers removing rain drops. Many of these items are rather complex and take time. Please be patient. Kind regards, Wags

  4. Bonjour! Aérodromes en France. When we were just thinking about expanding the map detail zone, we understood that France was not an easy path - it was a large territory with an active history at the time of 1944. Where yesterday there was a field, today there is an airfield, and after a short time it is in trenches. Since the start of development, we have increased the number of airfields in France. Added historically significant airfields, intermediate airfields, so that you can easily visit each place on the map. And also added airfields, which you asked about here on the forum and threw off additional information, for which special thanks. OK, here we go! 5. Maybe the DDOS component is most commonly an issue for you, but this would be a great quality of life feature for people who regularly play with friends. There's plenty of times on the weekend where servers fill up and if you're trying to fly with a few friends, a queue would be very helpful! I've definitely resorted to attempting to join every 30-60s before, rather than waiting for the god awful refresh rate of the server browser. Good to know that causes performance issues at the server end though.

  10. Why repeat what is already mentioned in the patch status thread. They expected to have it done, something came up and they are working on it. What more can they say?

  12. No. 613 Squadron (City of Manchester), Auxiliary Air Force / Generic RAF 2TAF, July 1944 ED User Files Download Page As with my previous skin, a paint scheme based on a Mosquito of No. 613 Squadron (City of Manchester), Auxiliary Air Force, this time from July 1944 onwards, with roughly applied invasion stripes only on the underside of the aircraft; can also be used as any other 2TAF Mosquito FB.VI Squadron as it has adjustable squadron / aircraft codes and serial numbers. Includes versions with both a fully visible squadron code, and one where the bottom half of the squadron code is obscured by the invasion stripes, as was often the case. Update: 06/03/2023: Removed 'baked in' squadron code and added custom bort to allow for dynamic squadron codes to be hidden under the invasion stripes. Various improvements to wing markings and engine cowlings.

  14. From the Oct 7th newsletter it said that if you own the Channel and Normandy map the upgrade will be $9.99. No mention of this in the current newsletter. Just the $14.99 price. So is this still the case?

  15. Life at sea is exciting - and harsh. Many a budding carrier-based pilot has taken the big drink, and many of us would love to create missions where helicopter pilots can perform rescue missions. Not only for pilots who buggered the bolter - there are many scenarios where we can create exciting helicopter missions to fish hapless swabbies out of the great blue. One crucial thing is missing there, though: an object to place in the water that can be rescued, that can be the focal point of rescue missions. I would very much like it if ED could add a floating life raft or floating soldier with inflated life west to the units/static objects library to facilitate sea CSAR missions. I believe that this would also really complement the super carrier idea, as it gives the helicopters a real purpose (I'm thinking about plane guard duty on servers that conduct carrier training). Thank you for your consideration

  18. Its important to learn to never do that, I´ve done it in the past, and I only got huge disappointment and desire to rant in the forums, and I don´t like it. The anwer is not to expect anything (like this patch, I don´t think it will be big or anything remarkable), and I don´t really care when it comes out, so if I am mistaken, it will be a good thing xD The thing I really complain about, is ED waiting until the very last day to say the patch is delayed, that´s not serious, like they don´t test it at all before the launch.

  22. It just would have been much cooler to acknowledge that there was a change in the previous advertised price. Not simply to state something new, as if nothing had been said before. It's insulting to your customer base at the least and just dumb. I suspect most would just say " okay, I can understand that, thanks for being open and honest". The people who are going to be upset are going to be upset either way. Now it just looks sneaky. Psychology seems so lost in corporate decision making.

  24. Working on the USAAF 653rd Bombardment Squadron. This is a weather recon bird, based heavily on NS521 at the USAF Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB. This does, however, have dynamic borts to allow for a fleet. EDIT: This contest entry is now a skinpack of the 25th Bombardment Group (Reconnaissance), with three similar skins with varying degrees of invasion stripes, all based on historical aircraft. Mosquito FB Mk.VI Skin Pack: USAAF 25th Bombardment Group (Reconnaissance) (digitalcombatsimulator.com) Here's the original at WPAFB: and here's the work in progress (Edit: updated base color and weathering): And a custom pilot livery with USAAF browns and A-6 boots. And the new aircraft in the skin pack:

  26. It's a patch for an open beta, It's not a new modual, It's just a patch, I know some people think this patch will bring the new dawn of DCS, but so far all we know is 3 new campaigns and a new radio for the A10. This is nothing to make a fuz about, come back in 2 weeks if ED still hasn't released it and still hasn't said anything. It's routine for patches to be pushed back in DCS, no it's not like the Germans have attacked Pearl Harbour. Why should they do anything special for this postponement, when they never do for others.

  31. If only the modding tools were available... taking Assetto Corsa modding philosophy as an example, some mods, depending on their quality, could become official and sold in partnership with ED. Those maps without the quality, well, these can't compete with official sales, whenever they're offered. This could bring a further level of engagement from the community, increase ED sales and thus incomes and make DCS better as whole without any effort from ED. How many talented part-time developpers are not discovered because of the lack of opportunities?

  32. I was also upset that the update didn't work on Wednesday. Especially since, as a family man, I have freed up extra time for this. I thought my part about it, the anger is gone again and then the patch will come today or next week. It's nothing new at DCS World that the date has to be postponed at short notice. DCS is not the center of the world. Once again you get the impression that the world is collapsing if you don't keep an appointment. At least for some people here in the community. And then rant about it in pages in the forum. For me it has a humorous character...

  33. G'day Gents, Hope everyone is keeping well. Just thought I would post some progress of the laser cut parts I'm working on this weekend. I've pretty much finished the Caution Advisory Indicator design. It's a bit of a hail mary but I'm thinking about trying to get a run on digital EIG cluster from the B model made with a custom PCB and screen. If its achievable I'll ship them to anyone building a Turkey pit for cost price. Bit of an aside but I'm getting some more of the details on the seat finished up. I'm looking for a high quality image of the seat pre-flight checklist on the left side of the seat headrest so I can make it up as a part of vinyl sticker pack. Any pics would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Mumbles

  36. The fact the price changed if you own both maps is one thing. Economics changed, whatever. But that no reference was made to this change is not okay. It's like they hoped people would not notice.

  37. Could be worse.. we could only get 1 or 2 patches a year like most other games. Some not at all Despite a setback here and there, especially knowing its for the beta version, I feel we’re pretty lucky to get updates as often as we do. Maybe its the greatest patch in a decade with big surprises we’ve all been hoping for..Maybe its an arc-210, some campaigns and a few bug fixes… Either way, any update to improve DCS as a whole is welcome in my book.

  39. ORBX is in on the game, those guys are definitely industrial when it comes to making terrains. I'm sure they could pump out at least two a year without breaking a sweat. That said, I'd love to see them redo the NTTR map with a killer custom Groom Lake airfield. I'd happily pay for that upgrade.

  41. See what happens when you use more than two words to describe a problem? It is possible to actually answer it. local m = {"radio"} for n, tbl in pairs(radio) do m[#m+1] = "\n " m[#m+1] = n if type(tbl) == 'table' then for n2V, n2T in pairs(tbl) do m[#m+1] = "\n " m[#m+1] = n2V m[#m+1] = " : " m[#m+1] = n2T end end end local msg = table.concat(m) env.info(msg) trigger.action.outText(msg, 20) You posit that radio does not exist. Allow me to retort. You're wrong.

  45. Sorry, but that is incorrect. Tanking from the pit was not a problem; even as a WSO I was able to do it. During normal refueling, the WSO watched the boom and could tell the pilot when he was in the proper fore/aft position; once connected, he watched the "barber pole" marks on the boom and kept the pilot in the correct positon with trend information - much more accurate than the lights. Remember the director lights were made for big aircraft - bombers and transports. There is a funny story about an F-4 crew that wanted to play a joke on their tanker; the WSO (who was pretty experienced) setup his flight jacket so it looked like he had his hands up on the canopy bow (where WSOs usually kept them) while he actually flew the jet - you can't see the back seat controls from a tanker; meanwhile the pilot also had his hands up on the mirrors, occasionally waving at the boomer. So from the boomers perspective, it looked like the F-4 just flew itself into position and refueled, unassisted. I REALLY wish I had a picture of that! Vulture
