Really? How does your résumé look in comparison? “Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., is named in honor of Navy Lt. Seymour A. Johnson, a Goldsboro native who died in an airplane crash near Norbeck, Md., on March 5, 1941. Lieutenant Johnson was born in Goldsboro on Feb. 15, 1904, and was the son of Dr. John N. and Lilly Johnson of Goldsboro. He graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1920 and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for three years before entering the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md. After graduating from the academy, Lieutenant Johnson was commissioned as an ensign and entered flight training at Pensacola, Fla. He received his pilot wings in 1929. After completing flight training, he served as a pilot aboard battleships and aircraft carriers. In 1937 he volunteered for duty as a test pilot, an assignment usually lasting two years. He was assigned to Anacostia Naval Air Station beginning in 1938 and served as a test pilot until his final mission on March 5, 1941. Lieutenant Johnson reported that he was at 43,000 feet and was getting low on oxygen. His Grumman F4F-3 fighter plane crashed near Norbeck, Md., and his death was attributed to a lack of oxygen at high altitude. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. The lieutenant had more than 4,000 hours in a variety of Naval and Grumman Aircraft Corporation aircraft. He had been selected for promotion to commander in June 1941. In August 1940 the War Department designated the airport near Goldsboro as essential to national defense. In December 1940, $168,811 was authorized for the construction of a U.S. Army Air Corps Technical Training School. Local officials began working to have the field named in honor of Lieutenant Johnson. The name became official on Oct. 30, 1942, when Congressman Graham H. Barden informed the Goldsboro News-Argus that "the Army Air Forces Technical Training School in Goldsboro had been named Seymour Johnson Field." Note: Seymour Johnson is the only Air Force base named in honor of a naval officer.” https://www.seymourjohnson.af.mil/About-Us/Fact-Sheets/Lt-Seymour-A-Johnson/7 points

Did some tests and checked few older DCS.log(s). (Main DCS and SavedGames folders on 1TB Samsung SSD) Earlier "▲ first start of the day" loading times (with lots of Mods/Addons in the SavedGames folder) were about 1:20 , without any mods (only Su-25T and TF-51D in the "GameFolder"/Mods) was about 1:10 - (to get into the Caucasus-MissionEditor + 20 seconds). So Summ/Total were 1:40 - 1:30 into ME. ... not "▲ first start of the day" loading times were shorter, approx. 10 seconds quicker. Now (DCS 2.8.6.41363 Open Beta) "▲ first start of the day" loading time (and other, right after 2nd-3rd starts also) are about 3:20 but to get into Caucasus-MissionEditor slightly quicker: + 10 second. So the loading time now approx 2.5 times slower with the latest patch, here. - (but on the other hand get into ME, mission loading times, swaptimes between maps are faster) BTW: there is a problem @ the beginning of loading (maybe with weapons ???) - No Mods (running ST) ▼ (from latest DCS.log(s) === Log opened UTC 2023-06-23 20:09:28 2023-06-23 20:09:27.912 INFO EDCORE (Main): Create boot pool. . ............ It's probably the old DCS issue you're experiencing. I've mentioned it a fair number of times in the thread. You should always configure one fire mission/shell/missile per line. Set the count = 1 and close lines to define more targets. There is nothing I can do to fix this DCS issue.4 points

AFAIK we will get mavericks later during early access as they were tested on the F-15E and pilots were trained to use them. Mavericks were never deployed operationally, so having them for the initial EA release was (understandably) a low priority compared to having a solid TGP/LGB implementation. Later in development the F-15E will get the AGM-130 which was used against bridges and SAM sites, however it was more a DEAD (Destruction of Enemy Air Defences) weapon than SEAD.4 points

Hmm... I've tried everything but can't find a solution for this issue. The only DCS core asset utilizing this combination of features (updated vehicle sounds together with a rotating radar) is the Tunguska. I tried replicating every detail of that setup, but something is still different since I get the sound issue. Maybe it's something we can't access with a mod? Who knows. But it looks like I will have to revert the updated vehicle sounds for all assets with rotating radars, for the time being at least.4 points
-
No, I think you misunderstand. In the latest version of the Pantsir I implemented custom vehicle sounds for it, to replace the old generic vehicle sound that you get as standard. If you listen to the vehicle sounds between 1.4.0 and 1.5.0 there is an enormous difference in quality. And I definitely want to keep the more advanced vehicle sound, but there seem to be some sort of issue ONLY related to assets that uses the radar rotation function. So I'm trying to figure out how to solve this. If I just wanted any sound I would just go back to the generic sounds like in 1.4.0, but that's not what I'm looking for. Glad midsommar!4 points
-
On the contrary, a very good example. These sounds, unrealistic as they are, make up for my missing sense - feel. I neither feel if I actually flipped a switch (or just clicked the mouse button but missed the target), nor do I feel the acceleration as the AB kick in. I did only a short hop in the F-15 yesterday and had quiet a hard time to figure out when the AB actually kicked in (still need to adjust my throttle) and I DON'T believe a second a real life pilot will look at Nozzle position or something to determin if he is in AB. I bet there are tons of haptic feedbacks in the real thing. So yes, a little unrealistic enhancement of the other senses might go a long way in this Game!!4 points

Advanced inverse kinematics/pilot body animations, tail buffeting, wing fatigue damage, elements of radar modeling, it's just a few things i've noticed - all of that sets the highest standard. Good job. If RAZBAM would make a Cold War fighter variant F-15A or C as well in the future I would hardly ever leave my basement. Overall RAZBAM progress over the last few years is fantastic. It's a top notch developer.3 points

I noticed that there are a lot of rotary controls that I can’t bind with Axis controls, like HUD brightness or volume knobs. There should be more axis controls to bind to.3 points

Definitely would need an overhaul of some of the old FC2 era naval assets as well as adding several new ones. The thing is that it seems that neither really happens. The 'year of naval focus' is a distant memory that produced one freighter (not complaining, it's very useful, just not a lot) and since then things have been in the 'yea, we are totally adding more ships, but we can't possibly show you until they are perfectly done, which might be in 2084' state that so many things end up in.3 points

Submodi, A/G Modi).

I agree, but they also need to tell us if they've increased the minimum requirement to run it.3 points

We should not be potentially limiting performance by catering to ancient hardware. At some point, upgrades are needed.3 points

Unfortunately I am experiencing the same thing. Loading time increased to double/triple or more. (not the shaders-making-time) It takes a lot of time until the logo with the version number appears. I think I go back to the previous beta.3 points

Hello. Unlike other modules from ED (Viper/A10/Apache) the Hornet PDF manual does not comes with bookmarks for easy nagivation. Note I am referring to bookmarks not table of contents which already exists. Thanks!3 points

You should reconsider, not using regional pricing isn't fair, particularly to those whose is undervalued compared to USD. Relying on exchange rate alone often results in absolutely ridiculous prices in markets particularly impacted by this, such as Argentina and Turkey. You should be using purchasing power parity to set prices. If it's too much effort to implement on the store, then at least on Steam.3 points

FZ ground radar screen blank when: Turning, outside gimbal limits. https://streamable.com/99wx9z When TMS down And unable to make 2 or more markpoits with same FZ screen because it also blanks after first markpoint (seccond TMS UP). Other than illogical, at least the first one, it doesn't comply with the manual I found, which I understand, I can't publish nothing about it here. I find F-15E cannot turn, it cannot climb, not a plane you want to be in when engaging dogfight. For the A2G, it mostly have laser-guided and dumb bombs -- for now.2 points

The F-15E replaces the F-111. It's job is to get behind enemy lines, get into their bases and kill their dudes, potentially with nukes. It doesn't do CAS or SEAD because other aircraft and squadrons have dedicated capabilities and training for this. Basically these types of weapons are not needed for the F-15E mission so it doesn't carry them - the payloads are dedicated to carrying professional explosive landscaping tools.2 points

Depends. For runways, BLU-107. For one tank, probably a GBU10, 24 or MK84 if you manage to hit it. For multiple tanks, probably a CBU-97/105. For infantry, I'd say any of the clusters or GP/LGB bombs. For Bunkers, GBU24 or a MK84 with a delay fuze fitted on it. For mass destruction, the B61 that is not in the game.2 points

The above photos are the first pass in the media cabinet with medium glass bead. The paintwork came off easily and the surface corrosion was removed nicely. Even managed to reveal a range of component part numbers etc. The parts will receive another light blasting before they are given an Alumi-Prep scrub and light Alodine coating before paintwork.2 points

Managed to get my hands on some more new tools today! The bench top folder is fantastic and makes those smaller light sheet-metal jobs easy! And, after destroying three phillips head screwdrivers, I have gone and bought myself a good set with a life-time warranty! Took some time today to prepare the cockpit instrument panel glare-shield for media blasting in the new cabinet! All electrical items were removed, all screws and fixings taken out, placards off etc. Lots of rusted nuts and bolts requiring drilling and cutting to remove!2 points

Not useless, he's right. If everyone starts just posting stuff they "feel" could be different, the real bug reports will get lost in an ocean of noise. It's in the best interest of everyone to prevent that.2 points

CVN-78 survives "sucker punch" attack by 24 air launched ballistic missiles. Takes 3 hits but sails away. Carrier group loses a Tico as well. Not meant to be any more or less realistic than the CCP propaganda, . Depending on how the mission plays out Ford sometimes takes ZERO hits and sometimes is sunk, it about a 50/50 chance she makes it. Escort ships are by Currenthill and Admiral189. Missiles are a custom version I did of the Tripod3 MOD that can be found in the forums here2 points

The F-4 was referred to as the Rhino before the even the legacy Hornet was a twinkle in its designer's eye. The Super Hornet picked up the moniker because the Navy needed a way to quickly differentiate a Hornet from a Super Hornet around the boat due to the different weights for, mainly, landing.2 points

With all due respect, do your google search well. This value corresponds to the government dollar for industrial and livestock exports. The value of the dollar for purchases with a credit card (official) is approximately 497, maybe in the afternoon it will be 480. I'm sorry if I live in a country with serious economic problems. I just asked a simple question about something that had never happened on Steam.2 points

With the release of the F-15E module, I am now going to be focusing on re-building the F-15EX mod using the Razbam F-15E model as a base. I hope to have the new EX ready to drop when my YouTube channel hits 2,000 subscribers (I'm at 1,980 at the time of writing this post). In the meantime I can release the latest build of the F-15EX mod as it currently stands, complete with AIM-120D capability and the re-worked pylons, but it is WIP so there will be a few minor issues with the loadouts. @Geschirre and @Awacs_bandog and anyone else who might be interested, feel free to do some F-15EX liveries on the new model!2 points

Ejections for aircraft hit by anti-aircraft or missiles is almost instant in the game. This is not realistic at all. It takes time to recognize an aircraft is damaged beyond saving and make the decision to eject. A pilot will instinctively stay with an aircraft and try to save it as his (or her) initial reaction. Ejecting equates to failure in the mind of a military pilot, and is the last resort after the last resort. U.S. Navy manuals list a 1.2 second delay from the time the decision to eject is made and actually actuating the seat. This does not include the time leading up to that decision. A 3-5 second delay would be far more realistic in DTS for ejections from jet aircraft operated by the sim. - Richrach2 points
