  1. Hello dear friends and pilots. *The roadmap has been changed regarding the 3rd phase of the project, the wishes and feedback of users have been taken into account. According to the plan, we have already completed 2 phases of the project, the 3rd phase remains. But we are introducing an additional phase that includes unique objects and several airfields. Roadmap Phase 3 Fixing bugs from users and beta testers (more than 100) - in progress Airfields 15 pcs: Added 2 airfields: Sharm_El_Sheikh_airport, Ramon_International_airport. - in progress. Unique objects and architectural monuments, industrial facilities - more than 100 pieces (Cairo, Alexandria, Jerusalem, Petra, Eilat, Tel Aviv and etc.)- in progress. More detailed zones of new airfields, places under unique objects. City textures - improvement, garbage cleaning. Rocky coastline. 2 types of acacia bushes for the south of Israel. Village fence models. New more realistic seabed texture. Parking for f35 for Israeli airfields. New type of the helipads and improved scenes for them. Night illumination of unique objects. Upgrading the Pyramids of Giza and the tombs around the pyramids (as in the preview video). Trees on mountains in Israel. Addition of military installations of Egypt (northern and southern camp). Improving ground textures (adding more color variety). Raster charts - the user has already been made available for free. Phase 4 *preliminary, subject to change Addition of airfields that were not included in phases 1-3 - typical airfields of 1-2 types Working out rocks in unique places, Ramon, Petra, etc.. Additional unique objects not included in phase 3 Bugs and improvements that constantly come from users Timeline *preliminary, subject to change Phase 3 - end of November (testing). Mid-December - update phase 3. Phase 4 - Q1 2024 !!! Thank you for your support and patience. Some new map models:

  4. I'm well aware of the discrepancy between my DCS assets and the real life smoke and launch trajectories. But there is only so much I can do within the limits set by DCS. I can't make the smoke denser at launch. I can't make the nose thrust vectoring. The GMLRS launch acceleration is too high because I need the rocket to achieve a high altitude to create some sort of trajectory towards the target. It's all about compromise with the small amount of tools DCS provides in this matter. If ED made available new features/tools/documentation etc I would update my assets immediately.

  5. Thank you! Thanks! Thank you for the kind words! I have added desert liveries for a couple of them (like the Pantsir). So I might do that in the future, but it's not a priority for me. Thank you! Great, thanks! Good to hear! Yep, it was great, thanks! I spend a lot of time calibrating the different weapons based on their IRL performance, but this sometimes means that the DCS core assets with questionably performance might get outperformed. Like the Burke and Tico which (with EDs performance data) doesn't like low flying antiship missiles at all. The same goes for assets like the Gepard whose radar is underperforming compared to IRL situations. As mentioned by others, no need for the fancy stuff. Just create a group containing the Monolit-B STR and/or the Bal/Bastion. If their targets are within their reach (you can see that in mission editor or F10 map by circles), they will fire at will. But from what I can see from your pictures, you have put the STR in a separate group from the launchers. This means they can't communicate (you can see that by the numbers 1 in front on the icons).

  6. My guess from Jan 2023 was August and I think I missed that release date by a lot. With the RWR being finished up and them saying in April that was still a major project to finish, we're on track for a release this year. Working Radar, working RWR, flight model is good, we're definitely still on track. I just wish they told us in November that delay was coming instead of saying "Nearly completed"

  8. Hello Jbhbhb, The Akizuki and Atago Classes are in DCS already. They're a WIP. I'm sure there's no model of project 23560 Lider out yet. So the mods that were chosen the most were the Adams Class Destroyer and the sovremenny-class destroyer. There's a tie between the two. I will give a deadline of Sunday, July 16th for the tie to be broken. Thank you all for your patience! https://postimg.cc/bZgsV0SW/167bea16

  12. A bit of history. I have been interested in the Falklands war since I was in my teens. My mother was mainly into painting ceramics but she also built scale model aircraft for shop windows and by doing that she got my older brothers free model kits from the shop owners. She was very good at it and that was in the 70s so it must of been a very rare thing at that time to see a woman in here 30's building very detailed models of C-130s, B-17's and all those other 1/48 kits from monogram. She hung many from the ceiling in my brothers rooms as well. Memories of my cousins and brothers backyard battles with firecrackers...burning plastic shermans and panzers all over the yard (such a waste) but it really did look like a battle as they lay burning or blown apart. This helped spark my aviation love affair. I too ended up building models, both aircraft and armor and then got deep to the history.I always had an interest in the Falklands and other less spoken about wars or conflicts that featured less famous aircraft (like the OV-10, Pucara, Wyvern, and Skyraider) Years ago I ended up building the old Tamiya FRS-1 and researched the historical planes so much that I made sure it was painted correctly and the air frame markings were accurate for a plane that was there. I went on to also build an S. Etendard (3-A-202) that was famous for its successful ship attack. So of course I was very happy to see DCS create this terrain. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- So to the point of this thread, First off of course we have aircraft currently close to what was used in 1982 like the Mirage 2000 (its still not a mirage III) and Harrier, but these are modern and use modern avionics that did not exist in the early 80's. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Core modules or user mods we have to use currently, MB.339 The pucara mod is there but it has not been updated in a long time, its still very usable for this theater. The Gazelle core module is there already which the British used in this war We have a superb A-4 skyhawk mod complete with Argentine markings already which is being improved here and there. We also have the British carrier mods used in this conflict. The C-130 Hercules mod which hasn't been updated in a while but a fully functional aircraft Core module UH-1h for Argentina Bell twin huey mod for the core UH-1H, for Argentina Not sure but I am certain ground assets already exist for this war.....Argentine Amtracs, British Scimitars and Scorpions, Land rovers, Rapier Missle batteries and an assortment of bofors AA and others. This was mainly an Infantry war so that makes it easier. Maybe Combined Arms module is useful in this area of mechanics. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What the new map needs bad is, A dedicated core module of the British FRS 1 Sea Harrier or RAF GR.3 with the weapons and avionics from that period. (I guess the current harrier module could fill in until we had one) For the love of the god (you choice of deity)....a Super Etendard PLEASEEEEEE (I want to carry and use that exocet flying feet above the waves) This is a legendary aircraft. Mirage III's or IAI Dagger (Again I guess the Mirage 2000C with limited ordinance could fill in until a core module was created) Secondary priority, Canberra PR9/ MK.62 (both sides used Canberras, very long range) Seaking HAS 2 or HC.4? Ferrying royal marines, SAS and cargo or slung artillery pieces from ships would be fun. *My priority for badly wanted core modules though would be the Etendard and an Early harrier. Some would probably say a Skyhawk. but the fan made mod really is well made in that we have a well made flyable air frame with a great cockpit and working ordinance to fill that need for now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In closing, Anyone have any information on whats coming for South Atlantic map? Ive been digging but do not see many threads on it. Add your thoughts and links here if you wish. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For fun......... My 1/48 scale FRS-1 build in the conflicts scheme and markings, as seen below, despite having AIM-9's, as proven in Vietnam years before, it shows the importance of having guns in fighters. No matter how advanced that missiles become. (air frame history, 2 kills ) 21.05.82 3.12 pm. A-4Q Skyhawk of CANA 3 Esc also shot down near Swan Island in Falkland Sound Lt Marquez was killed. - Flt Lt Leeming RAF of 800 NAS using 30mm cannon XZ500/(1)30 21.05.82 3.30 pm. A-4Q Skyhawk of CANA 3 Esc damaged over Falkland Sound by small arms fire from HMS Ardent and again in same incident as above. Unable to land at Stanley with undercarriage problems and Lt Arca ejected. - Lt Morrell RN of 800 NAS using 30mm cannon XZ500/(1)30

  14. A squad buddy recently showed up to a CAS exercise with a single Mk-84 on his Hornet. This was after I'd submitted a CAS request a day prior that said nothing about leveling a medium sized warehouse. I felt the option actually lacked the finesse I had been aiming for. Eventually had him kill a (cold) Zu-23 with it, only to realize it was well within danger close distance for the dozen grunts some Hueys had dropped into the target area a few minutes earlier (The only casualty, though, was a grunt ignoring all the warnings about staying clear of tail rotors. And maybe the guys suffered a burst virtual eardrum or 24). I guess some people just can't get beyond the "go big or go home" mantra.

  21. In defense of rules based server behavior, without attributing motivation to behavior, it's worth noting that in any public setting we do expect certain behaviors. People drive on the correct side of the road (whichever side that is). They stop at red lights and stop signs. They smile and say hello, or at the very least show some restraint and respect when encountering other people. On a server you're with a whole bunch of people you don't know, so you expect the taxiways to be used for taxiing, and people to use the correct end of the runway, or not damage the carrier by trying to land a Viggen on it, or look aft to see if (I'm) in the groove before taxiing into the landing zone (yeah, happened to me, but the guy immediately apologized). The people who don't? I try not to attribute to malice (or some unspecified neurological condition) that which can be explained by ignorance or greed. Meanwhile, just like in the real world, people are people and all kinds of things that seem silly to one person are perfectly acceptable behaviors to someone else. The chances you're going to 'fix' all behavior on a public server is asymptotic to zero, so apart from venting, which does feel good sometimes, I'm not sure what the argument resolved. Well, other that I did a bit of venting when I was on public servers, so I can't fault anyone for that, either. If you want honesty I think most of the problems with public servers is education. It's not an intuitive step from flying in your own world with no rules, especially for people who don't even know the basics of proper flight procedures. <edit> Fixed an egregious probability error </edit>

  22. I also like to have the radio frequencies and presets standarized, but rather than copy aircrafts from one mision to another, I employ a Static Template, that has one example of each aircraft that I use on my missions, including Awacs and Tankers, with their radio presets already filled, like this: Then, instead of adding new groups from the left toolbar, I copy ones from the applied template. Once the mission is finished I can delete the template aircraft easily as they are grouped on one corner of the map.

  23. There are times some may not want to stick to what’s real. At one time a server was up using the Nevada map. On this server the owner had placed a carrier near the Hoover dam. Was this realistic, NO. But it sure did lead to a lot of fun with friends to see who had the talent. The carrier was on a slight angle making the approach a real challenge. The takeoffs facing the dam and having to go under the bridge was also strange. This lead to having a fun time as we made many failed attempts. Sometimes you just need to have fun. If not you are just getting old.

  30. As per title, Iglas and Vikhrs do unrealistically little damage to AI helicopters. For Iglas, I've scored 4 direct hits and most AI will simply return to base. For Vikhrs in AA mode, it seems you need 3-4 direct hits before they finally go down. On the other hand, the 2A42 cannon with HE rounds can down a helicopter with as little as 2 hits. Not sure if this should be in weapon bugs, AI bugs or Black Shark 3 bugs, but since it primarily affects this module I figured this would be the place. Tracks attached. 31. The DCS community has lost a great man. With the passing of "Sparton" we are all a little less rich. Flying his beloved A-10 and tinkering in the attic with his astounding sim pit, was such a joy for him after a long and distinguished career in the Royal Air Force. He was laid to rest today with full military honours. This is our tribute to him. A kind, thoughtful and patient man. Someone who had endless capacity to teach and abundant enthusiasm for new entrants into DCS. We will all miss him deeply. Fly safe Norman.

  32. South Atlantic Development Report We are excited to share that DCS: South Atlantic is receiving significant enhancements. Our partners, Razbam, have been actively developing and supporting the map, and we will soon be launching a major update. This update will bring various improvements, including a major technology change for city blocks throughout the entire map. New points of interest (POIs) for cities, starting with Punta Arenas and Port Stanley have been added. Razbam are now using new city block models that are in line with the region's aesthetic. Additionally, they have made significant adjustments to tree distribution that aims to eliminate repetitive patterns across the map. The roads in all cities have undergone a major revamp, with new textures, models, and layouts. Rural areas have also received attention with the addition of new villages across the map. Furthermore, we have introduced a deep water port for Rio Grande, and completely reworked Port Stanley and Goose Green from the ground up. Bye Phant

  34. yeah, in The Other Sim, youll for example get SMS STA4 FAIL message in the PFL display and you wont be able to release the weapon. PFL doesnt seem to be implemented (yet?) in DCS. you can also ruin your JSOWs by overspeeding them. would be great to have this in DCS.

  35. In DCS, none. There are three categories of AIM-7s: E2, F/M and MH/P. Kinematically, each category is identical. I posted a couple of charts in the previous pare, and more in the AIM-54 thread, Tomcat section.

  37. Hi Currenthill, The book says that the basic Kh-35 missile can perform jump maneuver and a dive attack ("подскок и атака с пикирования"). I think that this is more than possible, because it was created with an eye on the Harpoon. The book says that this was done to improve the hit on maneuvering ships, but in the DCS this is necessary to evade air defense, which hits straight-flying targets too accurately) markovskiy-sov-avia-2006.pdf (airbase.ru)

  39. Optically cued systems (most IR SAMs and non-radar AAA) can't see you at night. So fly at night whenever possible. In DCS, anti-collision lights and strong nav lights will make you visible to AI at night. Formation lights and weak nav lights are ok. Popping flares will also make you visible to AI. Afterburner usage is ok. Most SHORAD can easily be outranged by lofting bombs. The slow reacting radar SAMs like SA-2/3/5/6/8 can be defeated by lofting LGBs (including the rather lenghty designation phase). The double-digit SAMs like SA-10/11/15/19 react too fast to keep designating for LGBs. Once some issues with AUTO releases are solved (bombs landing long, pattern not centered on target designation, faulty wind correction of ASL), lofting dumb bombs/CBUs with imediate break-off will offer some limited options against these systems.

  41. This map brings really good memories: first with Microprose's F-19 Stealth Fighter (this was, for me, the most difficult map, even more than Central Europe), and then with DiD's EF-2000. The landscape is beautiful, and the possibility of "visiting" so many military places I've read so much about is really exciting. With this map and the Eurofighter, I will be a very happy camper. Add to that a dinamic campaing (in 2030 or so...)...

  42. There is a certain distance the self search radar doesn’t reach the target. 25mln though. So in that case you should have an AWACS above to sync targets at long distance. also the units should be on the coast, not Batumi base… realistically speaking

  45. I have two different skin folders. The first photo is Roughmets, the second is SPECS. This way I'll be ready whichever way ED finally decides to go. Honestly not a lot of difference (but I'm sure the RM would be so much better if PBR was incorporated). These are with the default json file loaded. You may notice that I got rid of the paint blotches on the #2 lower cowl to more closely match the original photo. I also toned down the mod spatter and tire mud. Also got rid of some poorly done paint chipping on the lower wings. I'm calling it done but won't actually submit to User Files until I hear what ED will be doing regarding Roughmets vs Speculars. I have plain jane markings versions of each.
