Hi destroyers! "Add damage models to objects" - this was one of the most popular requests for the Syria map. The peculiarity of modern buildings is that they are large in size or height. To make the destruction look more or less realistic, we divided large objects into parts and made a separate "damage" for each. When technology allows, we will be happy to make fully destructible building models. but already now you can diversify your flight missions thanks to this update You know that we do not do for some unique objects of the destruction model, but there were so many requests that demags are now available for the original objects - the terminals of Beirut, Damascus, Aleppo, Gaziantep, Paphos, Nicosia, Adana Hilton, Sheraton Adana, Haifa Tower hotels Panorama, Haifa Tower Sail, Damascus Tower, Limassol Olympic Residence, Platinum Tower Beirut, Sama Beirut, Assad Palace, Haifa Cooling Tower, Aleppo Power Plant and La Farge Factory. In addition to the damage, we have optimized night lighting and optimized city blocks, so that all the additions will definitely not degrade your performance. While your plane is being prepared, check out the pictures14 points

I'm sorry, but this makes me chuckle a bit. I think the fact that you are sitting behind your desktop, or in your sim chair, under your VR headset, with a joystick in your hand, at home, is disclaimer enough that this is not real. I can assure you, we are not trying to create skynet. On a serious note, it would go against all rules of story telling, if one would on purpose try and create characters you cannot connect or identify with. There is also no harm in having imagined relationships, we do in stories, fairy tales, novels, movies, books, or even when falling in love with a flame who at that point may be stil entirely clueless about your existence... It would be unhealthy not realizing the imaginatory character of your relationship, but this then is not the fault of the novel, movie or character, etc... but rather an issue the concerned individual needs to deal with. The better a story teller, the more immersive the story, the more you forget about everything around you. This is one of the purposes of story telling, with many benefits, one of which is, well, just to relax a little bit, the other to dream, the third to inspire, and not the least to connect us in thought and emotion. Like doorways to each others' thoughts, ideas and worlds.5 points

In other words, you came to have fun. And we provide you with fun that you seek, by translating it to your screen as we know. I don't think you would enjoy it as much if we ran a numbers simulation based on your inputs? No graphics? Or, maybe just triangles? Or, let us be less extreme, how about campaigns without any story, voice acting, etc. Or better even: how about no missions at all, since, we do give you the realistic module, and you all do with it as you please. We could also remove Jester entirely and still fulfill that goal alone. Some few may enjoy that, plenty more less. Plenty enjoy jester as is, some less. There is a spectrum of things that are needed, and you fit on it somewhere, and others somewhere else. What you (or anyone) individually, personally need/s, is not as important, as what you, the audience, in general needs. And that is the entire spectrum of things we need to think about vs you basically enjoying the aspects you enjoy more or less. The sim is, in the end, for entertainment purposes only, always was and always will be purely that. The professional side you mentioned will never be made available to you (in general I mean, ofc), and the one that will, will never be made to serve a professional purpose. Your idea of being entertained may lean on realism, but it is still a request to be entertained in the end, to provide you with a video game based on certain principles for your leisure time, and any end conusmer home-sim, will always be made for that primarily, to entertain you. It's not a bad thing, and it does not hinder or speak against what you want out of it. One could even argue, that because we can do these for entertainment purposes, you get to enjoy the realism part of it in the first place.3 points

Yeah, I agree. I've had mixed results with them. But since it only took me an hour to completely replace the file sharing service, I might as well try as I already have a lot of Google Drive storage in my subscription. I shall also add that my release schedule differs from a lot of other mod makers where they release one big zip file twice a year, which causes a lot of downloads in a short amount of time. These kind of spikes is what usually triggers Google Drive (or other file sharing services) to enforce throttling or 'security measures'. My downloads are smaller and almost continuous.3 points

This looks like fun. Now that we're on the subject of wheeled vehicles, might I suggest you consider developing logistics vehicles like the RMMV HX series? In DCS's core and Combined Arms, the only modern utility trucks we have are the M939, KrAZ-6322, and Kamaz 43101. It'd be quite interesting to see more vehicles like these as SAM battery support vehicles or as part of helicopter FARPs. Another series of trucks to potentially consider is the Shaanxi SX2190 and China FAW Group MV3, used by the People's Liberation Army's Ground Forces as medium-duty transports.3 points

I wasn't planning on sharing this as it's too big but there were some requests so here it is. Please read all instructions and notes. Many of DCS textures are needlessly large. Wasting VRAM and drive space. This mod reduces those textures at no reduction in quality. Benefits of this would be: Reduced DCS install size. (By about 26GB with all optimization) Reduced loading time. Reduced chance of running out of VRAM. Possible performance benefit Performance benefit will depend on your graphic card and mission. It will save more VRAM on heavier mission. Average VRAM reduction I've experienced is between 1GB to 3GB. With 1 - 4 FPS gain on my 16GB VRAM. May benefit more in VR. Or you may not see any FPS gain if you already have enough VRAM. YMMV. INSTALL with Mod Manager (Recommended): Place the folder into your Mod Manager Mods repository. (Keep correct folder structure per your Mod Manager) INSTALL without Mod Manager (Not recommended): Copy and overwrite files in DCS main install directory. Backup your files. NOTES: This is texture mod. It will not pass "Pure Texture" IC check. I only optimized cockpits for modules that I own. If you want to optimize modules I don't have or optimize more aggressively, I posted simple instruction HERE In order to maximize the drive space of your DCS install drive, I highly recommend putting your Mod Manager repository on different drive than your DCS install drive. For OvGME, make sure to also set "Custom configuration backup folder" to the slower drive. DOWNLOADS: These are Google Drive links because files are too large. You will get virus warnings. You can check for virus after download. Links are folders you can BROWSE. You should download the entire folder the first time but after that, browse and only download files that are updated. Updated files will be listed at the bottom of this post or you can sort by Date Modified. My Google Drive has bandwidth limit. Please don't download the entire folder each update. No, there is no professional side to the F-14. But it is being used in some museums or exhibitions to offer an experience to visitors, which is great. And indeed, at some point we may get the professional sims, but not by intention ofc, or when used in active service, and depending on what part would remain classified for how long. But also, apart from the aha effect and the fun of experiencing a professional sim, some you couldnt fit in your home, and if you could they may not provide the same, well, entertainment. It's something they don't need to care about as much as we do, though also in education we think more modern, and fun during learning yields better results.2 points

I am not an electrical engineer, but let me attempt to explain, because the aspect knob is one of the most interesting features on the F4 and F14 radar. The difficulty of pulsed doppler radar processing is that it has to transform the time-domain output of a pulsed radar into the frequency domain, and bin that frequency domain spectrum into different doppler speeds to provide a useful search function that can display the angle and velocity of multiple targets within the scan volume. Try to add back range information (time domain) for RWS, and it gets even more difficult (hence the APG-59 in the F-4J provided only velocity search). The CW illumination strategy used by the Sparrow avoids that complexity (Fourier transforms and any kind of filter bins) by ... not doing any of those things. It separates the transmit and receive antenna so that the illumination can be continuous and pulse-to-pulse coherence is irrelevant. It operates only in the frequency domain, without any way to provide range information. <- edit: this statement is incorrect, it can use FM ranging It does not analyze the entire doppler frequency spectrum, only filter ('speed gate') returns to a specific range and home on the direction of the strongest return in that range. Also, this simplistic two-antenna doppler radar does not actually care if there is a search radar guiding it. The first versions of the RIM-7 Sea Sparrow could be used to upgrade optically-aimed AA turrets, where the operator simply aimed an illumination antenna at the target and the Sparrow guided toward that target with its own seeker as the only radar processing in the entire system. I don't think Karon mentioned in his video that the original purpose of the aspect knob for the APQ-120 is to guide a Sparrow with no range track, or even no radar track at all. That could be useful against electronic warfare if the radar can acquire an angle track but no range track, if the radar is malfunctioning but the CW illumination still works, or even to guide an Aim-7 into heavy clutter (airborne chaff, weather, or ground) where the pulse radar of the F-4B/C/D/E cannot acquire any radar lock at all. In that case the WSO 'locks' the radar straight ahead, and the pilot aims the whole plane like a RIM-7 turret. Without range-rate information from the radar, the WSO uses the aspect knob to let the Sparrow know if it should filter for closing-aspect targets or opening-aspect targets, to avoid locking onto stationary clutter. The "wide" aspect sweeps the whole doppler frequency range and would only be useful looking up into clear sky. Aiming the narrow radar beam at a point is only going to be practical for non-maneuvering targets, so it's clear the feature was intended for intercepting bombers flying through a cloud of defensive chaff, or in the case of radar malfunction on an intercept mission carrying only Sparrows. In a game it would be pretty amusing to use it against fighters flying in ground clutter, which would be unlikely to work well but might scare them at least. Add an optical angle track from TISEO into the mix, and now you have something a bit more dangerous. Unfortunately I don't think DCS in its current state can simulate that level of seeker complexity. Because this feature is very much a corner case in normal operations, the designers re-used the aspect knob to adjust the function of the range rate display. A lot of switches in the Phantom cockpit are re-used like that to pack in analogue systems without the benefit of an MFD.2 points

They're still there allright, just in the other forum thread by Dmitri (the "Hard to pitch down" one). @DmitriKozlowsky It has to be honestly said you come off as a person who's first to argue and rant about something, but doesn't bother reading manuals, or reading other player advices, or reading only few of them. Maybe it's a wrong impression, but that's the one you give with your posts. While I agree it's more difficult to learn something from vague and non-quantitive descriptions like "short" or "a little", there are things you rant about both in this and the other thread, which are explained and shown in the manuals as literally as possible - if you only read them. I don't own I-16 module, but for all other DCS warbirds the following notes apply: a) All warbirds that have trims, have also some trim indicators in cocpkit or markings on trim wheels. These are all shown and described in manuals. Every manual also says how much trim has to be applied for takeoff; b) All warbirds have some flap indicators, either in cockpit or on wings. These are also shown and described in manuals and the manuals say how to operate flaps and what flap settings must be used for takeoffs and landings; c) All warbirds have some form of manifold pressure gauges. What units these gauges are in is irrelevant. Inches/PSI/ATA/mmHG/whatever - the manuals say this or that number of units of manifold pressure is required for takeoff, climb, cruise. Same for engine RPM. All in plain numbers, you just have to memorize/note them and follow them. Most of procedures in DCS warbird manuals are copy-pasted from real life, historic manuals, so you won't find more detailed instructions anywhere. Moreover, videos from guys who recorded takeoffs with Ctrl-Enter window enabled at least show you approximately how much aileron/rudder/brake they used. Although not perfect resource, that's as direct and literal as one can show in a video, what else do you want? Instead of doing 100+ unsuccessful takeoff attempts with probably wrong technique (you know what they say - it's not smart to repeat the same mistake all the time and expect different result), maybe you should stop after 30, read other players' advices, watch these videos, and then come back to the plane and try a little different approach? You have to put in some effort, but do it smarter. Reading the manual or Chuck's guide first is a must, at least chapters about cockpit instruments and takeoff & landing procedures. You might also experiment with takeoff help slider in special options. I would not recommend using it, because it causes conflict with your ruder inputs and teaches you bad habits in the long term, but some people prefer to learn a new module with it switched on. In the end, maybe taildragger prop planes are indeed just not something for you. In real life not all training pilots get cleared to fly them either. Some never manage to learn how to handle them and stick to tricycle landing gear planes instead and that's OK. In DCS, the fact that Mosquito doesn't have a tailwheel lock doesn't help either. As I said, I don't own I-16, but have read it's quite difficult on the ground and not a good plane to train in. If you really want to learn taildraggers, spend more time with Mustang then, it's the only warbird in DCS that has a steerable tailwheel and, unlike in Il-2GB series, that feature makes a huge difference here and helps novice pilots a lot.2 points

yeah makes alot of sense why lockheed took that feature away maybe it was illeagl or too effective in combat or something2 points

Look, from your replies it is obvious that you are in over your head. There are some basics that you need to learn about each specific plane. Did you do the tutorial missions? Did you read one of the guides (dcs’s or Chuck’s)? https://chucksguides.com/2 points

No, only look. Remember that in the real life the WSO informs pilot about the progress. So here is again the next reason to have this AI (even for short sentences about it) soon as possible. In the sim you have to wait for info: transfer completed. Sametimes it costs a lot of time ;).2 points

By the way, I will probably be switching over to an other file share service shortly. I'm using Sync.com at the moment because of their unlimited bandwidth policy, but that doesn't do me any good when their download/upload speeds are getting amazingly poor. And it's getting worse, I just uploaded the latest asset at 2.5 Mbit/s. Which is pretty bad considering I'm using a 1/1 Gbit/s connection.2 points

I'll set up a Special Options for "Clean MPDs" with the guys in an update, won't come this next update but the one after.2 points

With the mountain hangars, wouldn't it be better if all of them were available as spawn points? And have doors open/close as they do now with the hardened aircraft shelters on the Caucasus map? Just wondering what the rationale is for having some available but not others.2 points

at least in reality i can tell my friend to stow it with the star wars jester is not my friend its just a crutch for when i'm not flying online. i simply wish it would stop trying to pretend its something that it isn't and will never be. developing some kind of parasocial relationship least of all with a dumb video game mockery of a human is something alarming to me. i will never encourage it. as much as i enjoy the momentary transport of immersion and roleplay, i think its incredibly important to maintain a separation between fiction and reality.2 points

You can work around this bug by using a fairly wide dead zone on both X and Y axis, like 15% on both. Cured it for me, I could even move it around diagonally without issue. I would also recommend reducing the Y graph axis saturation on both to about 20% to make it less sensitive.1 point
-
Considering that ED has a history of providing options to compensate for the difference between real-life and common flight sim controls, providing a option to get rid of the deadzone is perfectly logical and I would even go as far as to say it is absolutely necessary. That way, the minority of players that have high-end force sensing setups can get what they want and the majority who don't can actually enjoy the module fully as well. There is really no logical reason not to provide such an option considering that it just isn't reasonable to expect everyone to buy a rather uncommon force sensing stick base just to get rid of that obtrusive deadzone. DCS already places a lot of demands on players when it comes to buying equipment, there is no need to add another layer to that.1 point

Confirmed for me as well! Turning off the mirrors in the Hornet stops the flashes! Thank you!!! Turning them back on brings the flashing back. Hopefully they can resolve this soon as I prefer using the mirrors.
