AI, F-14D mayor problem has get acurated data.

  2. Su-24MU Bomber (Ukraine) version 1.0.0 released! Changelog Version 1.0.0 Release version Deployment of the Storm Shadow and Taurus ALCMs can be done either with 'Ground attack' => 'Bombing' and placing the triangle on the target. But you can also use 'CAS' => 'Attack group/unit'. Just remember that the ALCMs are GPS guided and won't hit a moving target.

  3. A bit late to the party. Interesting video. In case it helps people to find stuff, here is a timeline (more or less) to the DCS content: 5:20 Discussion of AI in general and plans for DCS AI in particular. 15:00 It’s a game. Don’t want total fidelity. Bad guys can use it, too. 27:00 At this point can only look back in time for additional aircraft to model. So ground forces will be the new arena. 29:00 Ukrainian map too sensitive tight now as is Taiwan. 29:30 Dynamic campaign still in the works. 30:00 Chinook is next in the pipeline and coming soon. 34:00 For any aircraft, etc, must be able to demonstrate that the data for it came from legal publicly available documents. 36:00 How we decide what module to do next. 41:00 How do issues (“bugs”) get fixed? 43:00 The need to be very careful with documentation and what elements are included. 48:00 Viper radar lock loss bug. Also talk about real world failures and whether to include them in sim. 50:00 Hornet flight dynamics being reworked. 51:00 Full briefing room coming for the carrier. 52:00 Super Hornet not likely and reason why. 53:30 DCS sufficiently modeled that can be used to teach. DCS compared to real world military simulators. 57:00 Did Top Gun 2 help with sales? 58:00 Possibility of destructible trees. 59:00 Additional carrier crew coming soon. 1:00:00 Looking for air boss voice actor. 1:01:30 Wags’ game preferences. 1:02:40 Korea and Vietnam maps. Not now but will come. 1:05:00 Full DCS C-130 will eventually be made. 1:06:00 An entire logistics system is in the works and it’s application to the dynamic campaign. 1:07:00 Difference between DCS and real world experience in the cockpit. 1:12:00 Kola Peninsula map. Whole world map. 1:15:00 Eurofighter. Kiowa. 1:20:30 S-3 possible but far down the list. 1:43:30 Any chance of a Gripen or Rafale? The docs are the issue. 1:44:30 Possibility of FF Su-27, MiG-29, plus more on type and sources of information they can use.

  4. Since Germany pretty much is about to announce the delivery of Taurus KEPD-350 to Ukraine, I took the liberty to implement it on the Ukraine Su-24M. Still some minor stuff to complete (like the pylon fitting on the pic above, haha), but I will release the MiG-29MU2 and Su-24MU shortly.

  5. Hm... the amount of downloads is quite staggering. We're burning through the bandwidth like a hot knife through butter. Bandwidth used since yesterday is almost 200 GB. The new file sharing service works great though, and there are no free lunches, bandwidth isn't free. I'm will have to upgrade the bandwidth limit pretty soon, so all donations no matter the size are welcome. The bandwidth usage is reset after 30 days, so we'll know more about our needs every day, since our statistical sample size grows. And a big thank you to all who have donated so far, it makes all this possible. https://ko-fi.com/currenthill

  6. MiG-29MU2 Fighter (Ukraine) version 1.0.0 released! Changelog Version 1.0.0 Release version Deployment of the JDAM-ER can be done either with 'Ground attack' => 'Bombing' and placing the triangle on the target. But you can also use 'CAS' => 'Attack group/unit'. Just remember that the JDAM is GPS guided and won't hit a moving target. The ADM-160B MALD can be done with 'Ground attack' => 'Bombing' and placing the triangle on the target and selecting weapon type "Guided" and release quantity 'All'. The MALDs will fly to the GPS coordinate while broadcasting a radar signature as a large bomber. The AGM-88C HARM, AIM-9L and AIM-120s are deployed in ordinary fashion.

  7. Just as a little update. Development continues, and the Kiowa Warrior that we have right now is a completely superior version than the one that was seen in the streams two years ago.

  10. The CH-47 is going to be like the Mi-8 on steroids. I really enjoy the Mi-8 but the cockpit graphics desperately need some love. The Chinook is probably going to be at the Apache level of eye candy and that will be just fine. Maybe a pre-order tomorrow?

  13. Red Star Simulation Mig-17F team interview by HIP games interview log (Sorry if not acurated). The team jump from the comunity mod, to build a propper module to DCS Has very challenging turn on 3rd party on DCS. ED has very strict standars to get 3rd party license by new 3rd parties. Mig-17F team has two owners, one a formely military pilot now airline pilot, and other airline pilot, with 25 years experiece, and part of fligh dynamic team now with minor CAD 3D work, testing flight dinamic design and flight testing. Have contractors and coder with some experience on DCS modules, with working on popular DCS mods, Also work on research and development, and your real job has aircraft mecanic with experiece on civil and military aircrafts and family related Mig-17 on old RDA (East Germany), with research a great quantity of documentation about Mig-17, with Polish, English, German and Russian manuals. Has another person with help on the research, a Russian guy has a aircraft restoring expert with experience on the Mig-17. Has diferent contractors on the 3D and texturing side, has testers and three SMEs, Air Show pilots from Us with experience on Mig-17. They looking for more people to the 3rd Party team as two or three reliable developers or coders to a future, build a second module with they has looking and continuely support the Mig-17. The proppose to build the Mig-17 was he outlive some more other aircrafts, cheap to produce, with many countries from east block, has a popular aircraft, you can create many missions, part of many wars as Vietnam, Mid East conflict, as the Sinai map, the Vietnam problem of Fast missile fighters vs old maneuver Mig-17s. Mig-15 vs Mig-17 has very diferent on many ways. The Mig-17 fix some aerodinamic issues on fast speed lost control on transonic speed, the diferent sweepn wing design, Mig-15 has only a fixed angle sweep wing vs two diferent sweep angles, 2 wing fences vs 3 and Mig-17f has a better engine (vk1 vs vk1f) with afterburner with improve perfomance, slight large drag profile with better acceletarion, sustained turns and altitude enhanced vs Mig-15. The redesign of wings and tail dont get the control issues as the Mig-15. Actualy (August 2023) the Mig-17f module has finish the texturing the cockpit and start to texture the 3D external 3D model. Flight dinamics has 99% complete, and expect only minor adjusts, and start to working on system modeling and afterward, on damage model. The Lim 5 version has the Polish license production version of Mig-17F by more available info and manual. Focused on a last bath, with include Egiptian modifications, with some domestic weapons as sackur rocket and fuselage pilons for bombs. Plans to other versions, they looking on AS version to add K-13 missiles but the problem has be the lack of info to include them into DCS. Missing the wiring with the missiles and the switches on the cockpit, and no info about was implemented. Has some plans to build a Mig-17PF version but only if the Mig-17F will be enogh profitable and get all available documentation. Plans to release Mig-17F on early access need discuss with ED, but the team think release them on a mature state before a very early version. About tutorials, the team like build diferent tutorial specialy on flight dynamics, other has systems, radio, iff, etc. Mig-17 required good pilot by the flight dynamics on take off and flight. Not a easy aircraft to fly. Manual coming first on english and expected some complete on release. Mig-17F has own first project, starter project, and the love on build the Mig-17 get more experiece to build future modules. About a next module, that has a more repeat question, but actualy, that require some patience and wait to make something public on a future. The team has open to build any aircraft with get the propper documentation, SMEs and pymes, blue and red, if has market to build them. The focus has on Gen 1 to Gen 3 aircrafts, Us, Soviets or others meanwhile has market to build them and none other team has working on them.

  14. Currently the fire effect on a destroyed vehicle (not the damage smoke) looks decent enough in isolation but it looks kinda weird when a lot of vehicles are destroyed in the same area, most with the same height flame and smoke, see pic for what I mean(destroyed vehicles here are Shermans and Panzer 4s): Some more randomness to this (smoke density etc) would really add to things

  16. I'll have to go back and check the marketing for where it promised the jet would have advantages over other Gen 4 jets with AIM-120s. Ideally one would fly it because they are interested in what an F-14 is like. If that's not the case and you want to chase the meta, may I be so bold as to suggest the lawn dart?

  19. New plan: Since we're burning through all file sharing services, why not put Dropbox Professional to the test. They claim a bandwidth limit of 1 TB and unlimited file downloads per day. I've updated the site, and this time I've removed all specific asset links. You will have to use the 'multiple download' option at the top. Since I'm changing provider more often than most change their underwear I can't be bothered to update all the separate links over and over again. Edit: Summary of the pCloud test: 1088 downloads (488 GB) during 24 hours.

  20. Bandwidth update: This is not looking great. The current limit is 500 GB per month. We just passed 400 GB - in 24 hours.

  27. Unfortunately the only tactical field manual I have access to for the Swedish air force strike groups is the 1961 edition with corrections/updates added up until 1967, but that one does have doctrinal advice for rb 04 usage (in its earlier incarnations, carried by the A 32 Lansen). It states that against cruisers and frigates rb 04 is the weapon system of choice, with bombs and armor-piercing rockets as secondary alternatives if missiles are not available. It then outlines these rules of thumb for sizing the strike package: The relevant item here is the 4th item from the top, "Raid eller mineringsföretag" (mineringsföretag = mine laying), against which it suggests deploying anywhere between 1 and 6 full squadrons of 8 aircraft. The two right columns make recommendations regarding sub-targets. Against a cruiser (Sverdlovs in this era), deploy anything between a squadron or a flight (half squadron; 4 aircraft), against a frigate or a destroyer use a flight or a twoship, against any smaller surface combatant use a twoship or possibly a single aircraft. The A 32 didn't really have countermeasure pods (not widely available ones at any rate) so it's two missiles per aircraft. On a side note the Rb 15F's lowest sea skimming altitude isn't fixed; it's "waveheight adaptive". I don't have any information on what that means specifically but it certainly sounds pretty low.

  28. The Mig-29 is something we would like to do for sure, but we have to comply with rules and laws in many countries regarding information about aircraft and their avionics. To create the high fidelity aircraft you would expect from us we need to use public unclassified information only. Regarding the teams, no matter where they are in the world their safety comes first. thank you

The Syrian Army has retreated to the Palmyra Army Depot and are expected to hold the base against the current Daesh attack. The Palmyra Army Depot is a suspected WMD storage area, and it’s in Syria’s best interest to secure these weapons from being compromised. The State Department and OGA have reached out to the Syrian leadership to offer assistance in securing the WMD but all offers have been declined. The COALITION partners have determined that WMD falling into the hands of DAESH is to be avoided at all cost. ________________________________________ The Russian Navy Task Force centered around t he Cruiser VARYAG is expected to make port at Tartus this afternoon. Refueling and replenishment operations are expected to take 12 hours. ________________________________________ RIVET JOINT has detected indications of a new SA-3 battery located at TYIAS airbase. The proximity to the FEBA near Palmyra indicates that the Syrians intend to hold TIYAS in the face of any organized Daesh attack. ________________________________________ The new teletype link (POLECAT) between the Syrian Ministry of Defense, RUAFHQ and JACKAL is now operational. This development is meant to ensure positive communications between military leadership on all sides of the situation in Syrian. ________________________________________ ************* MISSION PLANNING Mission Number – XR-352-P Departure: VFR Departure runway 31 from C2 (8998 ft remaining) Afterburner: Yes Departure Instructions: VFR 31 Dep LEFT turn heading 180 maintain 6000. 31. Please please please, after so many year, is it possible for us to be like MSFS2020, which can switch from monitor to VR by just one click? With the newest update I have more crashed in VR then before, and sometimes after the VR crashed, the game is still running (happened a lot after hitting F10, which cause a lot of lag). I was thinking if VR crashed, then we can switch back to monitor and then go into VR again, and we won't need to launch DCS everytime when we want to use screen to edit stuff after using VR. I think it's a very reasonable ask, please help us to overcome whatever barrier you have, and put the switch button into the game.

  32. This man has done more to keep me buying modules than any other single thing in the arena. ED, step up and give this guy some bandwidth!

  33. Good news, bug identified, isolated and solved yesterday. Now we are testing that everything works properly in our internal build. Fix will be provided as soon as possible.

  36. Should be... Lattitude (N66,5), lays somewhere between Lůlea and Rovaniemi. So still on the map

  37. You have the ATTACK HEADING set to 0 degrees (True hdg) (see lower right part of the STORES page). Since you're in PP I don't think it will show you release cues when you are heading at 50 degrees toward the target.

  38. I kept the bits and if they were easier to get to I’d probably be loading a few up tonight. Probably best they’re out of the way then, I looked at a couple today on YT. I was genuinely impressed when I first got this. Polygons of pleasure. Hilarious to look back at but they were all stepping stones to what we can enjoy now. (couldn’t help myself)

  39. nothing last for ever, people gets tired of DCS all the time, and new users like you arrive all the time also maybe this list of mine can help you: For me, @SUNTSAG and @104th_Maverick videos are the most useful.

  41. We will see it flying sooner than in any simulator . Shame!

  42. Version 1.4.1 (20230810) - Functionality Update Summertime and the living is easy... well, if you like heat, that is. Being of Northener stock, anything above 17°C is unwelcome, but it puts a dazzling smile on the face of my very special one. And when she smiles, everything is easy, so I don't complain. Except about the heat. Since the heat nearly prevents me from donning my VR goggles, and I flatly refuse flying without them (anyone who has ever spent a second in DCS VR understands), changes to DML are small. Still, I've managed to work in some exciting updates: CivAir now supports 'off-map destinations' making that small tool very, very easy to use with great results. Other changes include a slow adaptation of OOP zones (just for me, I guess), and some uptick in usability for some modules (Recon, Guardian Angel), and there is another experimental (and wholly undocumented) addition that I'm trying to work out: duel zones. But - summer time... and here are the Changes: Manual Main - CivAir new off-map connectors - Recon Mode new attributes - Small corrections - Civ Air International demo documentation Quick Ref - Updates to CivAir, ReconMode Demos - CivAir international (new) - ReconMode reloaded (update) Modules - ReconMode 2.2.0 - new marksLocked attribute - new marksFadeAfter attribute - OOP migration for zones - cfxZones 4.0.1 - new dmlZones:getName() - CivAir 2.0.0 - new inbound zones - new outbound zones - on start locations now randomize to 30%-70% of itinery - miscellaneous fixes, updates - OOP migration for zones - dcsCommon 2.9.2 - typos corrected - duel (experimental) - not yet ready for release - guardianAngel 3.0.5 - overhauled missile naming - new msgTime attribute - better verbosity - OOP zones update - unitZone 1.2.5 - better reading of config zones Enjoy, -ch

  43. I would love to see the ability to have unlimited fuel per unit. That would solve AWACS/Tanker woes, plus burner-happy AI wingmen, for sure. Anyway, thanks again for flying it and I'm glad you found it enjoyable (and eye-candy-like, too)

  44. As having had anti-air defensive training in the army I definitely would expect them to miss no matter what skill setting (!), or even more realistic only take shots on approaching aircraft. This is hammered into your head during training, as trying to lead a fast moving aircraft flying away(!) from you is basically a waste of ammunition. A ZSU-23-4 with its radar can calculate lead in realtime, but not a human gunner eyeballing the target, laser rangefinder or not. The concept of defensive Anti-Air (Fliegerabwehr) is trying to deny the airspace in the direction of a target by putting as much tracers/bullets in the air in front of the aircraft as possible to scare the pilot into maneuvering, failing the approach. If you hit the aircraft it is more by luck than any skill involved (talking about a jet at 500 kts, not a slow moving helicopter). In real life the ground forces will only fire at an aircraft flying towards(!!!) their position and stop firing, when it passes the 3/9 line of the gunner. Air defense against jets is what SHORAD like Roland or Gepard were designed for. Autocannons against slow or hovering helicopters is fine, heck, even Tank crews train snap shots against helicopters with the main gun in the simulator, but not against fast movers, as it would be waste of precious ammo. This is a long standing issue with the AI. It's a constant gripe, since DCS: A-10C Warthog days, that BMPs especially, but also BTR, MBT with Anti-Air MG hit jets perfectly at their max engagement range, making them a bigger threat than dedicated AAA. It's not just a simple skill setting issue. I would love to see the AI no longer shoot jets with a DSHK after it already passed overhead and with a perfectly timed lead in 3 dimensions adjusted for 500 KTS snipe it out of the sky.

  45. The illumination pattern does change between TAXI and TILL, but very slightly. The two landing lights are angled far too much downward, which render them close to useless when landing. I've estimated them (there's only one in DCS right now) to be between 6 and 10 degrees too low. They're pretty good at lighting up the ground below you if you have a wingman coming in behind you though. The issues above is as @Machalot mentioned is that the landing lights are missing the "glow" texture in front of them when on. And the fact they are angled down too much. TAXI TILL
