EDIT: The store description has been corrected. In any case, below is the full description again. Please note that some regional or language based subpages may still show the old, incorrect description. You can always check the correct description on the English page until the translations have been published, here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/ Our F-4E Phantom represents the culmination of years of hard work and research, to recreate this legendary aircraft in the highest detail and fidelity possible. DCS: F-4E brings this cold-war legend to the skies of DCS, so strap in and prepare for a wild ride. About the F-4E Phantom II The F-4 Phantom II is an American two-seat, twin-engine, all-weather, long-range supersonic jet interceptor and fighter-bomber originally developed by McDonnell Aircraft for the United States Navy. After entering service with the Navy in 1961, it became adopted by the United States Marine Corps and United States Air Force. Due to its high adaptability, versatility and for its time unparalleled capabilities, it quickly turned into the main workhorse for all 3 branches and spread beyond the borders of the United States, going on to serve and protect 12 nations across the world, with Phantoms being operated even today. Its production ran from 1958 to 1981, and with nigh 5200 Phantoms built, it became the most produced supersonic US military aircraft in the history, solidifying its place as one of the most recognizable and well known aircraft of the cold war era. It truly was one of the most iconic aircraft to ever grace the skies, a phabulous aircraft that at its time had unrivaled power and capability. It instilled a sense of wonder and awe, a beast that announced itself only with thunder. Unmatched in character and impression it was without equal, from the first time it took to the skies. A primeval spirit in aircraft form, it delivered shock and awe that rattled to the core and protected many nations across the globe. While both an interceptor and potent air to air fighter, it proved its multirole capabilities as a true air to ground workhorse, and packed a serious punch. This unprecedented mission agility was reason enough for its lifetime to span well over six decades, continuing even today, and will translate to our rendition of this aircraft, as you fly and utilize a wide variety of weaponry across a broad spectrum of mission content. Outstanding features of the aircraft are the powerful J-79 twin engines with a dry thrust of 23,810 lbf and a max afterburner thrust of 35,690 lbf, a crew of two, the powerful AN/APQ-120 Radar, the Digital Scan Converter Group (DSCG), the Weapons Release Computer Set (WRCS), the Aircraft Weapons Release Unit (AWRU) and an Altitude Reference and Bombing Computer Set (ARBCS). The DSCG version of the F-4E also comes with the AN/AVQ-23 Pave Spike targeting pod, allowing for precision strikes and the (self-)employment of laser guided ammunition. Additionally the F-4E can carry the AGM-65 Maverick, a wide array of iron and both TV and laser guided bombs, as well as the capability to carry out Wild Weasel (SEAD) tasks in a limited capacity with the AGM-45A Shrike. Unlike previous Phantom variants, the -E comes equipped with an integrated M61 Vulcan cannon that can be used both in an air to ground and air to air role and an optical sight that allows for lead computing optical sighting (LCOS) in air to air - as well as the ability to carry additional Vulcan cannon pods. It can protect itself with the ALR-46 Radar Warning Receiver, the AN/ALE-40 countermeasures suite, the AN/ALQ-131 ECM pod, KY-28 encryption equipment and employed a range of early to modern era AIM-9 Sidewinder and AIM-7 Sparrow missiles for aerial combat that can be employed also through additional specialized CAGED and computer automatic acquisition (CAA) modes. The Heatblur Simulations F-4E Phantom II aims to simulate this iconic aircraft as a high-fidelity module for DCS, being the culmination of several years of research, coding and modeling. Special points of consideration amongst the many features are the external and internal graphic model created using laser scanning and photogrammetry from real Phantoms at various museums, the detailed External Flight Model (EFM) developed over the past several years and verified by real F-4 pilots and WSOs, the detailed modeling of the AN/APQ-120 radar and the various systems on board and the ability to fly as a two-crew aircraft in multiplayer, as well as the proprietary JESTER-AI helping you as your AI-WSO in singleplayer. Key features of the Heatblur Simulations DCS F-4E Phantom include: The simulation of both the DSCG and DMAS equipped -E variants, the DMAS version following later during the Early Access period. Highly detailed external model, built using laser scanning and photogrammetry taken of real F-4 Phantoms across the globe. New models for some of the F-4 Phantom payloads, such as the AGM-45 Shrike, the AGM-12 Bullpup, the AGM-62 Walleye I and AN/AVQ-23 Pave Spike targeting pod. Highly detailed and accurate 6-DOF (Degrees of Freedom) cockpit also built using photogrammetry from the F-4 Phantoms preserved at museums, including Heatblur FORGE elements to be added later during Early Access. Highly detailed and accurate pilot and WSO models that will eventually match the many liveries and different nations, and later during early access a full character customization system, allowing you to customize your pilot and pick and match various equipment to stylize your crew. Highly accurate, F-4 pilot and WSO verified, External Flight Model (EFM) based on real performance data. Accurate aircraft systems simulation featuring: The Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS). Detailed electrical system, simulating sources, current and consumption accurately, including realistic circuits and power draw for every connected device. Detailed Hydraulic System, simulating the flow of hydraulic liquid that ultimately moves the hydraulics which in return move the various flight surfaces, etc. Detailed and accurate oil and fuel system. Mass based physics system, allowing for unprecedented simulation of moving surfaces, with realistic behavior according to their mass and properties. Fully functional multiplayer two seat functionality allowing a pilot to carry another player functioning as the Weapon Systems Officer, WSO. JESTER AI 2.0: Our new and improved lifelike AI that fills the role of the WSO when flying single-player or multiplayer without a human WSO, with now expanded functionality, dialogue options and more. A simulated Crew Chief for a more immersive and complete startup procedure. Later during early access, a brand new walkaround mode, allowing you to do pre-flight checks on your aircraft. A new versatile set of UI features, that allows for live in-cockpit browsing of the manual and the ability to interact with the various settings and options pertaining to your mission and flight. This feature will be continually expanded during Early Access. Introducing Heatblur Interactive Tooltips: the ability to click on a switch and be directly taken to the relevant manual part, without ever leaving your cockpit. New and improved effects, such as advanced overwing vapors, new procedural animation systems, and more. Detailed and highly accurate simulation of the AN/APQ-120 Radar. Detailed and highly accurate simulation of the ALR-46 RWR. A detailed simulation of the AN/AVQ-23 Pave Spike targeting pod, allowing the WSO to guide laser guided munitions dropped by the pilot or other aircraft (buddy-lasing). Comprehensive digital manual, both as a PDF and as a continually updated online manual, directly accessible from within the cockpit at any time via Interactive Tooltips and/or the EBAG. A complete set of interactive and voiced tutorials. A comprehensive set of missions and campaigns to be gradually released during Early Access and beyond. NOTE: Some features may not be available immediately at Early Access. The later F-4E DMAS equipped variant, including Pave Tack and TISEO, will follow during the Early Access period and the tutorials and campaigns will be implemented and expanded during this early access as well.16 points

I shall forward what my great grandfather ones wrote me, during a harsh, long and cold winter night in the year 1905: Dear Sir, while I fully second the sentiment of growing a proper mustache for the upcoming release of the phantastic phantom, I shall nonetheless allow myself the liberty to reprimand you, kind Sir, that during Movember one does not grow a mustache to get prizes, but to bestow the world with the grant prize of your mustache itself. We shall however graciously forgive you this misstep as hitherto Movember has had barely been started and we can see how this could have lead to a facile oversight, a trap, much like the one we are so proudly cultivating our fine mustaches around. Should however any of you grow a sizeable, phabulous mustache until the release, and be willing to expose their fine contours to the public's judgement on these very forums, we shall indeed bestow a firm pat on your back, as a humble gesture of our approval and utmost respect. Because a true mustache can only ever be grown for the sake of being a magnificent mustache, fine Sir! Please have our dearest wishes and cheers for your growing endeavours! Signed: Pops.6 points

My apologies, I had to verify, because I initially said this was ED's choice, but it is indeed ours. Unfortunately we do not partake in the ED Miles programme at this time, as a loyalty programme bonus we do not have that many products exposed to it to take advantage and for it to be economically viable for us at the moment. We've tried to price the module as fairly as possible taking into account our development costs to make a complex simulation. Thank you for your very kind support and understanding!5 points

June 6th 2024 will mark the 80th anniversary of the mighty endeavor, the greatest military operation in history: the Normandy landings. In Debden Eagles, my upcoming DCS P-51D campaign, you will be able to experience these events first hand from the point of view of an American fighter pilot. Every mission is based on original, historical documents, down to the smallest details. 100% historical accuracy, zero Hollywood BS, and about 90% Air to Ground ops. I hope you’re as excited to see it released as I am. Here’s a little teaser for you, made by the one and only Dominik Keller:5 points

But the E isn’t strong enough structurally to handle a carrier, nor are the landing gear assemblies sufficiently “beefy”.4 points

I have been doing more testing on this, not specifically to combat the F10 map performance tanking (although that may be linked) but to try to investigate what's causing the performance to tank in the first place. The issue is definitely VRAM related, but I don't believe that it's due to a specific lack of VRAM capacity, more the overallocation of VRAM. During testing I have seen performance regularly tank with the frametimes spiking all over the place, this is with around 7GB of VRAM used (according to the DCS metrics and corroborated with MSI afterburner), however DCS metrics are stating a budget of 11.3GB (using a 12GB 3080ti) and MSI is showing a total usage of 12.1GB. The VRAM is being paged to system RAM despite the fact that only 60% of it is being used. Going back around 18 months when the use of openxr in DCS was becoming more widespread via open composite, I had discovered a similar issue occuring that was causing performance to tank if reprojection was enabled. This was investigated by @mbucchia who identified that it was an overallocation of VRAM that was preventing the runtime from being able to function correctly. At the time he was able to make an alteration to the WMR openxr that marked the compositor memory as locked and this completely fixed the issue 100%. However this workaround is not really the correct way of doing things, it should be DCS not overallocating VRAM rather than each VR vendor making changes to their runtimes to accommodate. I don't know if current WMR users are having any issues with this VRAM overflow bug (for want of a better name) or not, 24GB cards are not going to be affected so it needs to be tested on specific hardware. @BIGNEWY could you please pass this information forwards to the necessary team and see if the allocation of VRAM could be reduced in order to allow the VR runtimes to run the compositors correctly?4 points

You're not going to get any type of release window announcement from ED because this community is bi-polar. If anything is delayed due to game breaking bugs, has a stroke, and if it's released w/ them, they'll also have a stroke. With that being said, if you check off the things like MT, DLSS/DLAA, etc etc. The focus is likely on stabilizing those before adding another major change. MT and DLSS Being stable will only make Vulkan integration quicker and more stable.4 points

It looks like we've reached the limit of 1 TB downloads once again. I'm happy that my assets are of interest to you all, but it's a bit annoying to hit the limit every other day. I've decided to add a secondary download link to help with this issue. The PRIMARY DOWNLOAD is the Dropbox link and the SECONDARY DOWNLOAD is Google Drive. Hopefully together they will provide enough transfer bandwidth.4 points

SATAC 2023 The 51st PVO Regiment proudly announces SATAC 2023. SATAC, short for Squadron Air to Air Championship, is an annual event set to provide a prestigious platform for competitive Air to Air sportsmanship, welcoming all squadrons and airframes to participate! The inception of SATAC dates back to 2011, and the tradition continues as we invite all competitive Air to Air squads to compete against the finest that DCS has to offer in a highly immersive and realistic combat environment. Our format is designed to promote the utilization of various aspects of the simulation, including different weapon types (ARH/SARH/IR), dissimilar air combat training (DACT), and the full range of modern DCS aircraft, each playing its unique role in SATAC 2023. Stay tuned for more details and exciting updates about SATAC 2023 as we prepare for another thrilling year! REGISTRATION The sign-up deadline is 31st December 2023. Register as a squad here, citing squad name, aircraft selection, individual pilot callsigns. Squads are also encouraged to register a GCI officer. We highly recommend having reserves. Squadron Name: 51st PVO Regiment Aircraft Selection: Su-27, Su-33, MiG-29 Pilot Roster: [51☭] Frostie [51☭] Teknetinium Etc. FORMAT 6 vs 6; thus we highly recommend having reserves. Expect to fly shorthand against a fully rostered opposition if you don't have 6 pilots ready by match time. A mercenary reserve pool is available for teams short on pilots. If you are interested in becoming a merc, put your name forward in the SATAC channel on the 51st PVO Discord (Links below). All fourth-generation aircraft will be made available: F-14, F-15C/E, F-16, F-18, JF-17, M2000, MIG-29, Su-27, Su-33, J-11(SD-10). Airframe selection is permanent during matches. Teams must choose a set lineup for each game and stick with those aircraft. E.g. choosing 4xF15, 2xSu27 cannot be changed until the next match. There will be an engagement bubble centered on bullseye, which opposing squads must control to win the round. Once you enter the bubble, you must not exit until the opposing team is neutralised. Once you leave the bubble, you cannot re-enter. You will be warned as you approach the edge of the bubble. As an aircraft enters the bubble, a 5-minute timer will begin where all aircraft must be inside the bubble in that time. Any team with aircraft outside the bubble after the 5 minutes will forfeit the round. At least one pilot from the winning team must control the bubble for 5-minutes and return to the home base in order to claim victory for that round. If aircraft take off with an invalid weapon and then fires said weapon or enters the bubble, that round is forfeit for the offending team. Once all gears have left the ground and the aircraft is airborne, any disconnected pilot or mishap will be considered as a loss. Matches will be best of 3 in the preliminary rounds and best of 5 in knockout rounds. AWACS and datalink support will be available during preliminary rounds only. No datalink or non-player BRAA calls during knockout rounds. A neutral GCI officer will be provided if a squad is unable to field one. Communications with the GCI officer will be handled through SRS. Flankers will have Fighter to Fighter data-link made available. Format for the single-elimination stage. Some items may be repeated from the main format post: Knockouts will have AWACS fed datalink disabled with human GCI support given through means of LotAtc. SRS is not required but encouraged to communicate with your GCI. If you wish the streamer to tune into the radio, feel free to share the frequencies with provided streamer. Fighter to Fighter datalink, also known as Peer 2 Peer, will be left enabled. Matches will be best of 5 rounds. Due to the increase of rounds played, we recommend having reserves ready for any issues that may arise. Sportsmanship Roll-bug clarification rules BVR: roll-bug in all aspects - NOT ALLOWED BVR: max rolling angle allowed - 450° per roll MERGE: within 10km - Free maneuvers JAMMERS: blinking manually or by macro - NOT ALLOWED (5sec intervals) NOTE! Pilots accused of breaking the rules will be required to provide their server tracks for review. This ensures a fair and thorough assessment of the situation. If anyone is observed using the roll-bug systematically, it will be judged at any range, even within 10km. The decisions made by moderators on this matter are not up for disputes. We don't want to prohibit anyone from flying as they wish. It's natural that there will be grey areas, these grey areas will be subject to individual moderation, as every scenario is different. However, due to recent events, we find it necessary to implement these limits. While we encourage you to continue flying as you usually do, we kindly request that, especially when defending against missiles in BVR, you adhere to the rules mentioned above PAYLOAD Maximum: 4x Active radar homing missiles (all types). No AIM-9X, No Air to Ground weapons (The F-14's and F-18's TALD's are exempt from this) WEATHER Variable weather: Clouds, wake, wind, and time of day. Selected by dice roll during scheduling. "What do I want to see in DCS" Having a relevant plane inventory for the map and "ITS" time period. And to stop making modern maps where nothing has happened since the mid-70s. i.e. Sinai... What drives this is everyone's nearsightedness.... having to have the latest airplane.. the latest controllers... Powerhouse computers to run VR, triple screens..... You would buy a hanger queen under the pretext of supporting a developer for further DLC'Ss. You can tell by reading their Signature at the bottom of the post. And Dubai doesn't look anything like it did when I was last docked at Jebel Ali and traveled into Dubai in Sept.95... But at 30,000 ft who gives a rodent's arse what's down at ground level... well, Mudmovers care...... When you go to do a Six-Day War attack in Egypt, 2023 Cairo isn't the same as 1967 Cairo, Egypt. Or Yom Kippur in 1973, this is the last big battle in the Sinai.. most everything else on a large scale, that took place with Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and now Gaza and HAMAS... DCS makes some great models, but giving us a realistic battle space to exercise those models is its greatest downfall, and why I guard my money jealously when it comes to modules. If it doesn't change (improve) the form, fit, or function of a time period map, I won't buy it. It's a WASTE of funds. For WWII, there is no map for the I-16, or Lavochikin... total waste of money... Marianas Is. is the only map with dual purposes WWII and modern-day maps.. Not a lot has happened in the Pacific since WWII, but I digress again into a soft rant... I'm cringing thinking if we get a Korean Peninsula map, Seoul will be modern... and say a prayer for N/S Vietnam... JM2CW Hoss3 points

Razbam's F-15E has been built using as much documentation as is publicly available and tuned using SME's (pilots and maintainers) who have flown/worked with the real. Most of what you ask for IS available on the internet, however, you won't get links here as forum rule 1.16 prevents the sharing of such However, the F-15E's AoA limits are discussed in detail in a 2011 Accident Report (where a load imbalance caused the mishap aircraft to spin out of control and crew eject) which I'll quote This Spin Stability AoA/load imbalance table was generated using a F-15E Simulator at Lakenheath when investigating the root cause of the accident. Hey guys a quick update on my current situation. (have previously been putting this under the DCS Forum) I will also be posting this in the VR forum as I spend so much time in there. My apologies to Mods if you have to remove it I understand but my wish would be for it to stay. I have many virtual friends that frequent that forum. Cancer has now spread, was in hospital last three days. They did MRI yesterday; it is now in many places including my spine. Cancer originated in my left lung with a tumor, and also had in 5 nodes in lung). While scan did not cover my head, I suspect based on my inability to think clearly and do things that should be second nature I am pretty sure it is also in brain now. When time comes if you see I have not posted in a week or longer in VR forum - that is where I spend bulk of my time - have a virtual toast for me, I know I will be in heaven with my family that preceded me - so yeah have a virtual toast remember good ole Don (dburne). Love you guys, and being a part of this forum since the original stand alone Black Shark has been a huge blessing for me. Thank you gang, it has been a true honor and brought me great enjoyment you all virtually. May God Bless you all!! I will hang in and continue my posting for as long as I can. Nobody ever argued against that. But better have some bruises from 9G than a gun round from a Mig in your back. Thats why pilots train for that extreme situation and thats why they take the calculated risk of body injuries. And thats why engineers built a 9G fighter. And thats why we need a better approach for something that is incredibly hard to model like G tolerance. The best guess is if an F16 pilot needs to take 30 seconds of 9G, a german Eurofighter pilot needs 15 seconds of 9 G, and the DCS pilot is blacking out after less than 10 seconds, the DCS pilot is not qualified for this kind of aircraft. And the discussions about the DCS F16 performance comes to the limiting factor which is the DCS pilot in that case.2 points

The black frame issue has been reported internally. It is different from the white flash issue, for the black frame occludes the whole screen, while the white flash appears exactly like the result of a lightning (land and cockpit react to a very strong, distant light).2 points

@Flarpt sorry you do not like the flight model, but you cannot make demands to the team for change without evidence that something is wrong. Feelings just wont cut it when it comes to flight models. Unless you have evidence, and or real life experience with the helicopter you wont get far. The dev team spend a lot of time working on flight models and collecting and working with data, so if you think something is wrong you will need to be specific and have data to back the claims up. Best regards bignewy2 points
