Some of new shots from DCS Kola Peninsula map. DCS: Kola map will soon be available for early access. The early access DCS: Kola map covers northern Norway, Sweden, Finland, the Russian Murmansk Oblast, and parts of the Karelia region. It also includes large areas of the Barents Sea and Norwegian Sea to the north and west, ideal for aircraft carrier operations. This area contains several high-detail locations, centered on airports in Finland (EFRO, EFKE, plus two road airbases), and Russia (XLMV, ULAK, RU-1110, RU-4464, ULMM), along with their urban and rural surroundings and infrastructure. Outside this focus area, two airports in Norway (ENBO, ENNA) and three in Sweden (ESNQ, ESNJ, ESUK) are functional but not fully detailed yet. The Orbx team has made every effort to craft a map that can be enjoyed by all types of users and will continue to update the map with additional content including airports, military installations, natural features, and lots more POIs over the following months. The team will also work on enhancing ground textures to reach a “real-life” level of detail as much as possible. The early access release comes with a special 20% discount, priced at (USD 55.99), but only for a limited time. As the map evolves with further content the purchase price may also increase. Here are the key features you can expect from the Early Access release: Complete base terrain for the entire map area, with highly detailed topography, summer ground textures summer, shorelines, and lakes and rivers. An initial focus area spans the Finland/Russia border and encompasses central Finland and the western parts of the Murmansk and Karelia regions of Russia (see map). Four high-detail areas, focusing on two airports in Finland (EFRO, EFKE) and five in Russia (XLMV, ULAK, RU-1110, RU-4464, ULMM), and their urban and rural surroundings and infrastructure. Two road runways in Finland, near Rovaniemi and Sodankylä, respectively. Two additional airports in Norway (ENBO, ENNA) and three in Sweden (ESNQ, ESNJ, ESUK) are functional but not fully detailed at early-access release. Significant civilian POIs include bridges, vertical obstructions, monuments, hydro dams, power stations, port facilities, landmark buildings, open-pit mines, towns and small villages, and industrial sites. Improved night lighting for cities and towns. Main road and railroad network, with bridges and tunnels, which are connected across the map and allow long-distance AI routing. Natural landmarks and geographic features, like Norwegian fjords, detailed coastlines, snowfields, forests and wetlands, tens of thousands of lakes, and large river systems. Map features represent the current era but include allowances for the late-Cold War era – e.g., operational road runways and fully functioning Russian air bases – to enhance mission options. The Orbx team is collaborating with experienced DCS campaign creators Baltic Dragon and Reflected Simulations to create engaging campaigns. Additional features already planned: Complete set of winter textures that load dynamically based on mission date, to accurately represent the cold and harsh climate of the Kola area. Additional detailed military airfields, including Andøya, Bardufoss, Kirkenes, Evenes, Vidsel, Kilpyavr, Alakkurti, and others. Additional military installations like naval and army bases, barracks, ports, storage areas, training areas/ranges, radar and communication sites, and air defense sites. Additional Cold War era Swedish and Finnish road runways. Additional civilian airports, including Tromsø, Hammerfest, Ivalo, Luleå, and others. Additional detailed cities and towns, POIs, and industrial sites. Improvements to landscape features and detail, as well as additional areas with high-resolution aerial ortho imagery.20 points

Hello all, Not sure if the A-4 pilots here have seen the new Carrier CVA-31. It's part of the VWV mod and is compatible with the A-4 for AI use and should work for player take off and landings as well. I say "should" because well, you know how mods can be. But I have done both catapult launches and landings. I've not tested in MP at all so I have no idea if that is working. Anyway check it out if you'd like to try flying from one of the Essex Class Carriers refitted for jets. The A-4s get the 12 spots on the port side while the F-8s get the 12 on starboard and aft deck Only tested with AI, but player can spawn on the cats and deck so it should work for single player. The Ship has not been test multi player at all as far as I know Also here's a video showing some features of the VWV mod. The A-4s have a few cameos in the video, mostly towards the end. Glad to see this finally being released! Regarding the flight model - is there any updates planned in this regard or is this the way it's going to be? As much as I would love to do a million mission and videos with the OH-6, I have to say I don't think I can do anything until there's some changes to the flight model I've spent a long time playing around with curves and practicing and fine-tuning but it feels very odd and doesn't allow for precision flying. I appreciate that all helicopters are unstable but there's so much static instability here in pitch and roll (especially roll) that it really doesn't feel right. I haven't flown the real thing of course and am just an armchair enthusiast like everyone else, but the way it flies feels extremely odd. Centering the stick after inducing roll, results in that roll continuing way more than it should (I think, at least compared to other helicopters). I also noticed that changes in collective result in rather abrupt yaw changes - I understand that in principle this is correct but it seems rather abrupt and excessive. I really appreciate all the work you've put in guys so I don't mean to be unthankful here - the assets pack is fantastic, the 3D model of the chopper and cockpit is fantastic... it's just that the flight model IMO sort of lets it down a bit. I get that this is a mod and it's never going to be like a full fidelity FM but I think many of us are totally happy to accept a somewhat "arcady" feeling FM, so long as it's flyable with some degree of precision. Maybe I'm the odd one out who can't fly it properly but I generally don't suck at flying stuff and I can't get any decent precision here due to the rather strange static instability in pitch and roll - mostly roll. The yaw is manageable I find, just a bit twitchy, but nothing that can't be overcome with some practice. With regards to the odd roll and pitch behaviors, I'm not so sure. Perhaps adjusting the static instability somewhat could be a good idea on your end? Again, no disrespect in any way. You guys are phenomenal and I'm sure there will be plenty of folk here who will be delighted with having an OH-6 in their virtual hangar! Thanks!4 points

No you need to counter the "collective yaw" in every situation. And the tailrotor pushes you to side always so you have to counter that too.3 points

So I finally got a 32:9 monitor--a Samsung G9, which is quite a step up from my former 16:9 1920x1080 display. I recall that in the past, to use a 32:9 display, one had to manually input values, etc., to get DCS to render on them properly. Not anymore! Needless to say, I am stunned at the difference. Thank you for that report too. You are right bullseye is missing in some kneeboard charts even if there are bullseye calls in some missions. Now when I'm looking those kneeboard charts three years after making this campaign they look quite horrible and I need to redo them anyway. I will add bullseye to all charts. Bullseye is actually marked as Fixed point in all missions but it's not mentioned in kneeboard. I'll fix that too.3 points

Hi @currenthill ... first of all, thanks a lot for all the assets that you have created for the DCS users community, and provide them for free, I have been able to use many of them on my own missions Now that the Kola Map is about to be released, I wonder if you could consider some airbase support vehicles for Sweden's unique road bases system, some items like these: None of this are my photos, I got them at Wikipedia, just to illustrate the kind of vehicles I'm thinking of Of course I understand that you maybe in the middle of modeling other items, but thought I would just ask. If you buy via Orbx it only works on the DCS store i.e. you will have to enter the key they give you against your profile. The key is not compatible with steam. This is the same way the HB store works. You will be able to buy directly from the DCS Store. You will need to buy it on steam to work with steam. On the Orbx discord they confirmed it will be available via steam3 points

Try to start your journey with the Hip. It is the most predictable and stable to fly Helicopter right now in DCS. The OH-6 is certainly the wrong helicopter for beginner in chopper flying. The key for every helicopter take off though, is to put the cyclic in roughly the right spot (slightly aft/left for western helicopters, aft/right for Russian) and then apply collective VERY slowly and counter any yaw with pedals. Your counter inputs in any axis needs to be small but fast (not hectic!). When the chopper starts to tip over, lower collective and start over more slowly. Counter any roll tendencies on take off immediately but measured. Practice, practice, practice. It is worth it!3 points

Не нужно было годами исследовать, в DCS уже давно всё есть: эффект greyout похож на пролёт в DCS сквозь облака разной плотности. Вот я немного пролетелся, чтоб по быстрому изобразить для примера: Похоже это на пример картинки из википедии? Почти не отличишь. Никаких фильтров я не применял. А у вас сейчас просто реализовано с ростом перегрузки убавление ползунка цветности. А на моём примере цветность не пропадает, она вуалируется. Так в реале. Рекомендую переделать.3 points

Не надо передергивать. Вы там сверху написали некое утверждение не обоснованное ни чем, на уровне "мне так кажется". Изучайте матчасть прежде чем писать. Мы на исследование этой проблемы потратили не один год. Какой дискуссии? Мы авторы картины и рисуем то, что считаем нужным. Не так. GLOC наступает быстро только при высоком градиенте нарастания перегрузки. В других случая человек увидит и тоннель и серость перед GLOC.3 points

I just remember I made a post about this problem in 2019, 5 years ago. I hope by next time... 2029/2030 we have a working gbu-24... I don't want to be that "that guy" but come on man, it can't be that difficult. It is the most capable A/G weapon of the F-14, F-16, F-18 (in 80's 90's scenarios) it should have some priority.3 points

Absolutely phenomenal mod and asset pack! Excellent work by Tobsen and Eightball. This should be a full fidelity module. FM is on par with the Gazelle after the recent updates and no SDK access. Everyone needs to support these guys through the link on Github. No control issues here with an extended stick. Just reduced saturation and was good to go.3 points

Yet that is the risk you take. One too early. One mistake and you call out a fiasco. One of many. Do you think any other sim is better. GB spent 9 years fixing one plane. I won’t even mention msfs. And here you are pointing out one mistake. On an early access , by any terms that was a beta to start with. it is simply not enough, to a normal community to collect the torches and forks But yeah you know. It got to be a storm.3 points

Чего то не то затеяли с этим новым эффектом перегрузки. Одни в своей игре сделали его чёрно-белым и другие теперь давай за ними повторять. Потемнение в глазах - это и есть потемнение, а не обесцвечивание. И все везде в своих обзорах радуются не понятно чему. Ни у кого в глазах чтоль никогда не темнело? Я что-то не помню чтоб при этом цвета исчезали. На истребителях теперь невозможно крутиться: сплошное чёрно-белое кино как будто какое то смотришь.3 points

Um die Erinnerung von @Flow zu ergänzen: Wir sprachen über die zivile CBS-5-Version, die Schwierigkeit, einen zivilen SuperFive nachzubilden, angesichts der vielen verschiedenen Cockpit-Layouts und zusätzlicher Ausrüstung wie niedrige Kufen, hohe Kufen, Hebezeug, Lastenhaken, FLIR-Systeme . Unterm Strich wird es eine Version des Cockpit-Layouts geben und angesichts der zusätzlichen Missionsausrüstung würde ich das Gespräch so interpretieren, dass noch keine Entscheidung getroffen wurde, ob und was getan wird. All das ist auch der Status quo, da die koreanische Version wahrscheinlich nie in ein spielbares Modul umgewandelt wird. The_Fragger teilte uns außerdem mit, dass sie die volle Unterstützung von Airbus haben, die BO 105 für DCS nachzubauen, was eine sehr wichtige und großartige Neuigkeit ist. Soweit ich weiß, werden alle (!) Leistungsschalter im BO 105 modelliert und haben Auswirkungen auf die Berechnungen der verschiedenen MEDUSA-Module. Alle Systeme im BO 105 werden im Spiel realistisch dargestellt, mit Ausnahme des IFF, da dieses noch klassifiziert ist. Stattdessen wird es ein Modell-IFF-System geben. Wir sprachen auch über das Innenleben der Mast Momentanzeige, den Chip-Detektor und externe Effekte, die vom Flugmodell selbst berücksichtigt werden. Das Flugmodell wird sehr schwierig sein und The_Fragger sagte, wenn Sie Ihre ersten Flüge mit der BO 105 genießen, haben sie etwas mit dem Flugmodell falsch gemacht .3 points

This is from a British trial of a captured Bf-10E in 1940 This is in complete contrast to our K-4 which will happily tip over at practically walking speed.
