Guys, we do weekly newsletters, I do not see many game companies that do this. Due to this frequency, we cannot have blockbuster news every time. If you don't like an article in the newsletter that is fine, but others might, I know our livery contests are very popular. So if there is a news item you don't care for, move on to the next, if there is none you care for, wait for next week, there is always a new newsletter just seven days or less later. Thanks.12 points

Past three months were basically bug hunting, fixing my own screwups during the learning process, a lot of code purging, i had to rename all my textures to avoid conflict with existing ones, mount over 300 textures across all models, like custom weapons, main model and such. Also added a bunch of functionality to the cockpit, added new animations... also revision of over 18.000 lines of code, one by one... So yeah, i've been pretty busy, and nothing much exciting to show for now. People on the mod discord are more updated on the latest news. Here are a few Screenshots9 points

May I suggest a solution that helped me a lot coping with less exciting Newsletters: Just dust off an aircraft you already own and „git gud“. Time much better spent than complaining .. …and those pile of shame aircraft need some love too! Youtube was MUCH better when they showed the real downvote quota. That’s sure.6 points

Why there is only a "Like" and a "Thanks" as reaction to posts? I really need at least a thumbs down for this kind of nonsense, as it is now the only reaction I can have is to ignore the guy4 points

It's not a job, it's an art and craft, and pleasure of creating something you are proud of. When I was young and played first ever online shooting game of QuakeWorld, some might didn't ever hear, I spent weeks to create just a single play level for that. Just for fun, just for the peple use it and play. It was a pleasure and always a pleasure to do something by yourself. This message for those talented, though.4 points

This is my take for MI24P. Even not within your declared special attention, I still think this will stand out as one of the best real design for a Mi24P. VeticalT theme was used in real life on an airshow. The attention to detail I've put on this skin was tremendous. Aligning all the shapes at the level that can be seen on screenshots below took me so much time, but the result I think will please you. My preference was to have a factory new look, however if requested I may apply to weathering to it. The skin can be found for download since some time ago in here: (there is the original VerticalT and a variant I called OrizontalR which themes for Eagle Dynamics) Mi24 Vertical-T and Orizontal-R (digitalcombatsimulator.com) Note: my .psd files are having an whapping 2GB. Please provide an alternate location for upload, or you may download them from here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mQsBsD796KX4IvUd_rZyc7MCfka-1wWp/view?usp=sharing Please let me know if anything more is required PS: Please find below the original GIMP templates i've used to create this skin, in case are needed. The above PSDs are generated from GIMP so I have no clue if they are ok: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eIisGFV553XhlrxH7Qa2S80e-36rRQKg/view?usp=drive_link nullnullnull4 points

Hey guys, Minor update to the mod today. I added the requested thumbnails with yellow outline for the cloud presets. This makes it easier to find the mod preset versus the default ones. 10/11/2024 - Updated to version 11 - Updated cloud preset thumbnails. The Mod thumbnails are now outlined in yellow for better visibility. Thanks to forum user ggrewe for help with this. - Fixed issue with cloud presets being out of order3 points

you can do real liveries or fictional, just make them prior to 2018 if real. Obviously we want to pick liveries that will work well in game with our mission sets and terrains. We want to have fun, and include everyone, without offending or upsetting anyone, if you keep that in mind its all good.3 points

Let us know ,who are that people that enjoy such news . They are few, you can count them using fingers on your arm ... By the way , about competition ... people will work hard trying to create nice skins for DCS,they will spend many hours : 2 -3-5 how much i dont know axactly , but a price for that is negligibly small - 100$ really !? What is the tax for 1 hour working of DCS skin creator ? Do in ED think all around dont understand what is this competition for - you want populate your product , wanna get commercial - then pay for that commensurable price3 points

There are no springs or dampening input goes directly without any changes to the blades3 points

That might be part of what many people are questioning. In DCS we get DME and bearing.3 points

A single ground unit (BTR-80) sitting on the runway is as wide as the runway itself from 5nm distance. A convoy of units on the road is a huge black snake from a distance, much wider then the road itself. There is no point in flying any kind of mission right now.3 points

Looking good Nomad, Well done for going through the gritty bits for a few months. All that stuff under the hood has to be done I s’pose, might not be a lotta fun writing lines of code but we’ll appreciate it in the flying. It looks every bit as good as a paid module so far. Hope you’re past the worst of the coding bit and can see the finishing line now. It’s Friday so I won’t mind if you wanna release it today so we can have a good look at it all weekend? May as well. Why wait two weeks? Joking aside, good job and keep at it. I don’t use Discords but always check in here every now and then, wouldn’t wanna miss anything. Keep it up .3 points

thought it'd be nice if we were given the ability to prevent these systems from working on MP servers so we could stretch our viper into earlier scenarios as there's not much for it to fight in it's natural habitat at the moment2 points

The newsletter is not what some people wanna see in it and that’s news about progress. I am one of those people. But I don’t mind these either. In an ideal world I could read about status of Vulkan api, New ATC, MiG-29, Razbam E.D. drama and other future things or cool stuff… It is what it is2 points

Yes this is normal, It's that pesky DASH thingy. Push and hold the cyclic forward to accelerate and as the chopper gains speed the airframe will start to nose down and loose altitude, slowly pull back the Cyclic to zero the drop in height (if you increase thrust instead, you will simply accelerate into the ground faster), don't worry the aircraft will keep accelerating. At about 100 to 120 knots the cyclic should be around centre or Neutral on the cyclic gauge. With the current flight model I have the cyclic back -2 inches at 140 to 150 knots. The hook is designed to have the cyclic centred and the airframe level during forward flight.... weird.2 points

MY OPINION (just my 2 cents) Ambiance: -radio conversations. No blunt text. Voiced (with text overlay for non-native English people!) -Things that move in the world so that the world doesn't seem dead. e.g. a transport helicopter comes in while you are starting your helicopter. Interaction: -You have to feel like you are part of the world and that you can influence it. For example, in the protect the convoy mission you have the option of stopping the convoy via the radio menu. Credibility/plausibility: -A general doesn't send his AH64 into a combat zone where every other unit is a Manpad, AAA or SAM. At least not a Western/NATO general^^ What the Russians are doing is...different. -A voiced background introduction would also be great. So what's going on, how did it get to this point, why are we flying the mission now.2 points
-
same for me. Honestly, ED, WTF??!2 points
-
Yes, information about the Mig-29 would be great. But also about the situation regarding RB & ED. Half a year and there is NOTHING official to say about it...? Apart from the usual text phrases...?2 points
-
Exactly. Quite a cumbersome process if you have multiple waypoints. I agree with the OP that some sort of "patrol" task/action would be a very welcome QOL improvement for the mission editor.2 points

You can turn it off, you know?2 points

How do you steal those tracks? Unless the player parks exactly where the AI is set to park - you have to cater for the player being 'out of position' to start with. And that could be anywhere on the ramp, or even the airfield. Then the tracks are going to be completely different. As someone who's been developing software for decades one thing I've learned during this time, plenty of things seem 'simple', until you find out what's actually involved, and how other things are coded - you've often got no idea how simple or difficult something can be or how deep the rabbit hole is. I suspect there's far more to this than meets the eye, or what you're assuming. That's all I'm saying.2 points

Hi Kinkkujuustovoileipä, Thanks for the reply and understood. May I suggest adding a mention of this unreliability to the user manual? Cheers.2 points

Due to some DCS changes the aircraft is now spawned differently and creates collision with the static F-14. It's for HB to fix (the mission, ED should fix the aircraft spawn placement so it doesn't happen) and should be posted here: https://forum.dcs.world/forum/535-bugs-and-problems/ @BIGNEWYCan you please move the thread? @SilhouCan we please report it? I've made a single change - just removed the colliding static aircraft and it's fine. Looks like the ground crew have just moved the aircraft out of the spot for us. Download and replace the file: \DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\F14\Missions\Single\HB Pitching Deck.miz or just put in your \saved games\dcs world\missions\ and run Mission Editor to load the mission.
