Thanks for the feedback, exterior and cockpit sounds are now pretty much complete just now going to take a look and see if I can do anything with the start up and shutdown sounds. Cheers Jafa.7 points

The last "DCS 202x and beyond" video is almost a year old, before the Razbam conflict and before the Kola/Afghanistan/Iraq map releases that also seem to have been poorly received. If I look at the most recent video, on the Iraq map, then there are a huge number of negative comments, and those get a huge number of upvotes as well. Of course, with these things you often see that a certain sentiment becomes dominant, and people don't dare to go against it, but that goes both ways.6 points

@NineLine Could we have some news on the units that were slated for inclusion in the WW2 Asset Pack at release but are currently still outstanding some 7 years after proposal? These include: Avro Lancaster Hawker Typhoon Bf 109 G-6 B-24 B-25 B-265 points

That's not going to happen. Don't get me wrong - I agree - the first place is to do bug reports, and properly (track files where possible and appropriate, logs, etc). And some times they get a response, but when nothing is done for years, it makes sense that some people are going to get upset and voice their concerns. Moving on is OK for those who can move on, but some bugs for some people are harder to work around than others. Some customers will understandably feel the need to be able to do something to try and make a push for bug fixes when they feel that it's been completely ignored, that's not going to change. What's unfortunate is that it has now overflowed to ED's release video's, which appear to be getting a mountain of negative comments about bugs. Whether it's coincidence or not, I don't know, but the last 2 releases we've seen now have been largely bugfixes. It could be coincidence, or maybe passionate community members have found a nerve that gets attention from the people who make the decisions? If so, it's a pity it had to get to that level. After all, ED do one thing brilliantly - arguably almost better than everything else, and that is trailer video's on Youtube. I think it's probably part of their pride (and well deserved so - it's impressive eye candy, and makes me want to go play DCS every time I watch one), and it's a pity that such accomplishments is tainted by those comments, but I also understand people feeling the need to go there when things aren't addressed here. It could also be why we're seeing more content creators taking a lot of personal time to create dedicated video's to "ED users have had enough"... etc. If people feel the only way to get ED's attention is to make more noise publicly, then that's what they'll do. (No one's going to take the time to do the effort of making those video's unless they're passionate about seeing those bugs fixed). I hate to see great trailer video's on youtube with so much negativity about the bugs, and believe here is a much better place where there can be attached logs, and more focused discussion. I have no doubts that those dev's work their butts off to create such great stuff, and it's a shame such work is tainted by those comments too. (I also have my suspicions that dev's take pride in their work and are too early redirected to the next item before they get to finish what they've been working on by management), so I'd love to see a better solution for people to voice their concerns (and be heard) and as such encourage people to voice here first, and not 'move on' with their concerns, because that moving on is probably going to be to youtube. I think this is a great idea, but also recognize this will only work if management are actually interested. From what we've seen so far - it seems they have other priorities that don't align with many of the concerns of the community, so this would be for naught. Management needs to come onboard. I think we're in a dark situation where there's a fine line between getting the required attention for constructive responses, vs pooping in the bed, and causing damage to DCS. I'd personally would prefer to see this forum used more for bug discussions than is currently being used, so I'd prefer people who aren't going to 'move on' as has been encouraged here - to continue to voice their concerns here than youtube. But in the end though, it's all up to ED's project managers to change some priorities and how they interact with the community. BN and 9L do the best they can to interact with the public (which I appreciate) - and boy did I feel sorry for 9L on the youtube comments bearing the brunt. I often feel they do their jobs with one hand tied behind their backs too, and wonder how much they too sometimes share in the same frustrations as us (but can't say much). The other thing I've noticed is it seems more lately that things are getting attention that haven't been before, and credit needs to be given where credit is due. Maybe it is time to pause a little to see where this heads. Whether it was a knee jerk reaction, a exception to norm, or whether there is a change in managements priorities and they're getting more serious about bugs. And while I mentioned bug fixes, I'd be amiss not to note that we're also seeing other things, such as click and drag coming to the mission editor, the long awaited fog changes (and from what I'm seeing, well done as well), and Wag's latest video hinted at a DTC menu option... so maybe something is shifting in DCS internally in a positive direction and feedback is beginning to get a little more weight. If that is also a result of BN and 9L advocating on our behalfs and pushing a bit more, you've got a huge thanks from me!5 points

Maybe they're someone's favourite bugs because they are still there after 10 years? If developers are different, what does the "different developer" doing in these 10 years? I believe you're not far from truth.5 points

With the next update, we will be adding this new Supercarrier feature. To add additional detail for players, and particularly mission builders, we have attached an updated version of the Supercarrier guide that discusses the new director features in greater detail. Best wishes, Wags DCS Supercarrier Operations Guide EN.pdf5 points

Quick update in this one. All the missions are redone. Right now I'm re-recording the voices, there will be over 4000 more lines added. Voices will go in the next few weeks and I'm hoping that it will be sent to ED in December. Sorry for the delay on this one. It turns out it will be a full rebuild, or quite close to it.4 points

Great bbtbmb, post some photos of your task force. Thanks. Good Morning, Everyone. I hope you're enjoying the mods. I spent all afternoon reworking the FREMM Textures. I will finish them today and import the weapons from the other mods. I'm not great at texturing mods but I do my best. I use my imagination and photo references.4 points

I know it's not yet released but better call it sooner rather than later. Please make the new automatic 180 rotation optional at parking after being directed by new deck marshalls after trapping. The auto-180-rotation is immersion breaking and unrealistic. Many sim players appreciate doing full uninterrupted missions from cold start up to full shutdown in real time, without unrealistic features. Ideally we would be directed to the parking spot and just be given the shutdown signal For those that want to rearm and stay in the mission for next launch by all means keep the option to autorotate/teleport. Thanks3 points

I watched Wag's video about the new deck handlers yesterday. That looks seriously cool, can't wait to try it. There was just one point that felt a bit jarring, i.e. the 180 degree teleport at the end of the video. Bearing in mind how awesome the rest way, it felt a bit out of place. My is that at some point it'll be possible to add the capability for deck crew to use one of the deck tractors to turn the aircraft around. I'm hoping that it might be a set of development down the line. Clearly it's hardy a priority item, but would be ace.3 points

@BIGNEWY @NineLine this has been as issue for so long. Still a problem im the current build. I hate to be that guy and tag you guys but people have been reporting this forever. A bit frustrating that it hasn't been fixed yet.3 points

That's the contention; what they think is most important. They will let bugs languish in the code for over a decade before addressing them. They'll allow modules to grow out of date, not address known issues within them, and still want $50 for that. We do see core updates, that's great. More of that. But it's really not that much to ask that they address bugs confirmed from when Millennials were *still* in school. Especially ones that objectively harm the simulation's quality. Be flippant all you like and reply with "so riot" etc. but this isn't BOO ED SUX, this is as if Fred Fleet actually HAD binoculars in the crow's nest the night that RMS Titanic struck an iceberg, saw said iceberg, and told Captain Smith about it only to have Captain Smith reply "lmao we'll do something about it trust me bro" before promptly striking the iceberg just as they had before. These are consumers trying to tell ED to course correct before it actually does manifest poorly.3 points

Well, if the ball in centered you fly in aerodynamic trim. It tells you all you need to know. However there is very little penalty (apart from fuel efficiency and speed) for being a little out of trim or flying in a "nose-tail" trim.3 points

Riot then? I may be tired of constant negativity but I learned that most of it comes from passion - users who do care about better DCS experience. Being glass-half-full person myself I kind of appreciate others doing it for me as I see very vocal people are better heard even when in minority - rather those from silent majority. I even get carried away sometimes and get harsh ex. when any combat mission gets destroyed by seeing black squares on every target. Otoh I read and get how ED works. Users asked for focusing on more bug fixing, public bug trackers or bug polls for years but it's clearly not what ED or even other 3rd parties gonna do. So when I say to "move on" I just mean to accept how things work here even when I don't like it. I find that all was already said and better to vote with your wallet than waste time on endless forum discussions. Btw, I checked last 5 "DCS 202x and beyond" videos and they all seem to catch almost 100% positive comments, growing views numbers and keeping similiar likes/views rate. I give'em that - they really are fun, beautiful and engaging but they fail when advertising maps. It'd stricken me when watching some recent Afghanistan map ED short. Maybe 10% was actually showing new map visuals while the rest of the time was filled with aircraft, clouds and shadows play - you probably wouldn't even notice if most of it was taken on Nevada. They did what they thought was more important: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/3 points

I guess you could always make sure another airfield is at a higher elevation and so not affected by fog. But it would be really cool if they added the ability to use trigger zones to add weather. Not just for fog. But dust storm. Local showers etc. You don't even have to make the trigger zones another shape. "Just" add a built in "irregular " shape to any weather. So if you weather trigger zone is 100 000. Then the fog will be at say 90 000 and then get less dense closer to the 100 000 border. But that's probably another 8500 man hours.3 points

VWV Development Pipeline Several planes and ships are currently in development for Vietnam War Vessels. The Fletcher FRAM II upgrade class, developed by Hawkeye60, is progressing well, though some weaponry issues have been identified during testing. Efforts are underway to address these. Another Fletcher variant, The Sullivans, created by James J. Jackson, represents a less-upgraded Fletcher class retaining four main turrets. While this ship did not see action during the Vietnam War, it makes a great addition to the collection. Hawkeye60 is also working on the USS Card, a WWII escort carrier converted into an aircraft transport. Notably, this vessel was sunk by VC divers in 1964 but was later salvaged and repaired. On the aviation side, the MiG-21MF is awaiting its final texture and is expected to enter testing later this year. Work has also begun on converting Helijah's A-5 Vigilante for DCS, a process that will take time, but we aim to release it by the end of 2024. Additionally, updates and fixes have been made to Maddox and Bon Homme Richard and Skyraider, enhancing their functionality.3 points

In this DCS: Supercarrier update, we’ll be looking at the new deck crew feature that allow plane directors, yellow shirts, to direct player and AI aircraft from parking locations to catapults and from the landing area to a parking location. This is supported in both single player and multiplayer with the option to disable. We’re currently behind the six pack and waiting for the division ahead of us to launch. I’ve already got the APU running and have completed my checks. To start the new deck crew, launch procedures, we need to alert them by either selecting the Salute command from the Ground Crew radio menu or pressing the Left Control + Left Shift + Left Alt + S key combination route. If you decide to use the hot key, you may certainly wish to bind to a simpler key press in the Controls set up for Supercarrier. Our plane captain has now given us the engine start signal, and we have an “Awaiting engine startup” message. Let’s crank the right engine. Once we do, the message will be removed and replace with an “Awaiting salute gesture message”, meaning, the when next give the Salute command, we are indicating our readiness to taxi. With that done, I’m going to skip ahead to the next phase. When we are ready to taxi, we’ll give the Salute command again, and the plane captain will hand us off to the plane director ahead of us, marked with the purple icon over his head. As mentioned earlier, these helper icons are optional. At this point, we precisely follow the plan directors as the pass between each leg of the route to the catapult. Trust the directors, even if you think they are going to taxi you off the deck. Deck crew direction is quite similar after landing, and it will direct you from the box to a parking location. Once landed and the hook and flaps are raised, you must then taxi forward and not immediately taxi out of the box with no direction. Once you taxi ahead, a plane director will direct you out of the box and hand you off to the next director. If you wish to rearm, refuel, repair, or re-launch, you must first taxi and stop at the directed parking spot. Do not taxi directly to a catapult. Once at the parking spot, you will be rotated 180-degrees, and a menu appears that gives you the mentioned options. You can toggle this on or off by pressing Left Control + Left Alt + Left Shift + P. If the route to the catapult becomes blocked, you will be teleported to a different parking spot with clear route to a catapult. If you get stuck or just want to skip the taxi process, you can press Left Control + Left Alt + Left Shift + T to teleport to the parking spot. While we’re waiting, let’s go over some important points: From the Controls, Supercarrier tab, we have several new options that include the ability to enable this new deck crew feature, or only just the deck crew around the catapults as before. The ability to toggle purple helper icons over the active plane director. Toggle on or off deck taxi messages. Limit your maximum speed on the deck and have simplified signals. We’ve changed how wheel chocks work. They will now only be removed once taxi clearance has been given. It’s very important to follow plane director orders as carefully as possible and only launch from the catapult directed. When in multiplayer, we strongly recommend NOT conducting launch and recovery operations at the same time. Better to complete all of one operation before doing the other. If not, there could be plane director errors. When landing, it’s also very important to contact carrier ATC and follow instructions properly. To not do so will cause wave offs.3 points

Current contrails run by the old particle system, with a texture on a string of 2D planes. It also has a hard time properly interacting with clouds, as in most cases contrails currently can be partly seen through a cloud. Just asking that contrail effects perhaps use the new volumetric system. Thanks!2 points

I've just finished reading "Mosquito Intruder" by David McIntosh. He was a navigator and in the book he often recalls how he was being frequently told (or, in his own words, whenever the pilot "couldn't think of anything else" to say ) to look out the back. Commenting the task, he also wrote "I still have a bad back and neck".2 points

Seems to be working now. I had to redirect the Moza Cockpit software to the correct DCS install path. Then the Moza entry was added to the Export.lua. I also placed this entry at the top of the lua for good measure.2 points

Looking at your DxDiag.txt file I see the following: 4 occurrences of LiveKernelEvent with code 141. This is a hardware failure, generally the video card or power. Good article here with further explanation and areas of investigation: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/livekernelevent-141-when-playing-games/4485bdee-bb9f-4ef9-97a4-6c1fe5a14ce4#:~:text=The LiveKernelEvent 141 error is,the graphics card or power. 2 occurrences of BlueScreen with code 161. Also indicative of video card issue: Further article here on both error code and the one above in combo: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-shutting-down-unexpectedly-with-bluescreen/e0bbc619-8689-4f0b-9a01-a3dab29ed01d 3 occurrences of StoreAgentDownloadFailure1. I haven't looked into this one. Let's see whether or not you get further crashes after updating that graphics driver if that is the cause. I also dropped your log file into the DCS log analyser which had further performance tuning advice: Enable Full Screen mode. Turn off SSAO. Turn off SSLR. Set Water to Medium or Low. Set Shadows to Medium. Turn down Anisotropic Filtering. Disable civil traffic. SSAO and SSLR can be performance hits with next to no benefit so advise to just turn off. Just a heads up, I'm not part of the ED team, I'm just another community user who enjoys the game and helps folk troubleshoot problems that crop up (a lot of them are common issues).2 points

Well, I see slightly (almost imperceptible unless you want to see it) screendoor effect on both. And in the Q3 is easier to see due also to the bigger clarity in general. That's why it's debatable, because it's clear that two persons owning both headsets have different opinions. Now, if you want to talk numbers, the absolute resolution is not what will give you the smallest absolute, or even relative apparent pixel size, which, in turn, is what matters for discerning individual pixels and, in turn creates the screendoor effect. That is why most of the times, when taking about professional headsets, you add to the equation the pixels por degree (PPD) factor. Reverb G2 has a PPD of around 19 (https://vrlowdown.com/hp-reverb-g2-vs-pimax-crystal/), while the Quest e has a declared pixel density of 25. Sent from my SM-A528B using Tapatalk2 points

This is a weird design choice. I understand why it's difficult to do a full realistic pushback, but at least the teleport/snap could happen after you do the 180 yourself. It would be less jarring.2 points

Thank you CH, I will give this work around a go. Thank you for all you do for this community I have yet to find a way to add custom assets to the HTS table. But you can do it manually in flight. Just press LIST, 0, E and enter the HARM ID from the table at my site (for example 528 for the LTAMDS radar). Then go into HTS and choose Threat and select MAN for manually. The HTS will then find your custom ID and you can select the target. Since I'm going by memory, forgive me if I got a button name wrong.2 points
