Hi guys, As usual, I decided to make a Quick Checklist for the new Module. I usually make them to myself, but I always make it available to the community. Version 1.0 is already available at F4U-1D Quick Checklist at user files download page. Bellow goes the first page as an example: Second page covers landing, shutdown and armament employment. I am really happy to se soo many Checklists versions coming out to the community. Now there is a style to match everyone's taste. All the best, Sydy8 points

(Dedicated campaign topic). Info + links. Hello Ladies and Gentlemen! I'm rushing with hot news for fans of the OH-58D "Kiowa Warrior" and DCS. A substantial, fully professional single player campaign (quality of paid versions or even better) will soon be coming to the DCS simulator. The campaign is intended for the Polychop Simulations OH-58D module, but you also need to have a map of Afaghanistan (the south-western part or the entire map). It is also worth adding that the campaign was created in cooperation with Ryan Robicheaux, the pilot of the Kiowa Warrior and the author of the book "Scouts out!". The campaign period is 2010. The campaign has been ready for some time, and is currently being finalized. What's most important for you, despite the large amount of my work and investment, the campaign will be available for free for fans of DCS (similarly to my previous one for the Mi-24P). You will find a full description of the campaign's manual (it will be important). The campaign will be available for download via the DCS website in User files section soon. For now, this is just a preview. The most important features of the campaign: Over dozen single player missions (14, lasting from 40 minutes to 1,5 hours gameplay of each) taking place in Afghanistan (DCS: Southwest Afghanistan map or the whole DCS: Afghanistan map is needed) Realistic, detailed scenarios, based on real events of the Operation Moshtarak (2010) and its prelude (although of course the campaign was adapted to the DCS environment and its possibilities, thus achieving a compromise between history and playability) Story driven campaign with a detailed mission introduction, voice commands and plot twists during the mission Proceeding the campaigns as the pilot of OH-58D and co-pilot/gunner/AMC Full, advanced voice package in English, even your co-pilot received his role! Several thousand lines of subtitles in English (only English is supported language) Various types of missions (also artillery guidance), including night ones Dedicated skin for Kiowa Warrior from period of Afghan war As real as it gets - cold starts only, you also need to return to the airport/FOB/FARP after the mission and special mission completion mode Auto ATC (automatic communication during takeoff and landing is used after selecting the appropriate radio) Prepared briefings (description of the situation and tasks), full documentation, graphics and photos Important data in the pilot's kneeboard Summary (including tips and tricks) in the manual, check it before the flight ;)! FPS friendly (tested in VR too), only the most necessary units plus the surroundings Custom background’s music created for this campaign (after successful completion of the campaign online access to the soundtrack) I'm aiming to release it in June this year, so now you have a great time to refresh your memory of the OH-58D ! The campaign is out now: DOWNLOAD LINK CAMPAIGN: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3345522/ DOWLOAD LINK SKIN: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3345514/ NOTE (important!): Before starting the campaign, be sure to read the whole manual ("Manual campaign OH58D") in the DOC folder, The path: DCS World\Mods\campaigns\OH-58D - Through the desert dust\Doc (folder) or directly after downloading in a zip file. There is a situational description (the most important historical background) as well as a method for installing the campaign, skin and user tips and FAQ. Btw. You can ask questions about the plot in this thread, or seek advices, but if you want to reveal the plot, it would be nice to use a "spoiler window" so as not to reveal the mission's assumptions and so that others can enjoy it as much as you do:7 points

As I said in the FAQ. I will primarily make sure the mods are still working. And I will most likely remove redundant assets, as they get introduced as new and updated versions in core DCS. But since I really enjoy creating assets for DCS, I will probably add new stuff to the mods also.7 points

Could you please change the default kneeboard position to the right side instead of the left. On the left side it interferes with multiplayer/kill messages that appear on the left side. Thanks for all the hard work on the F4U. I am really enjoying it.5 points

My initial thoughts after 2-3 hours flying time: Nice job visually. I seem to remember seeing some options to choose a 2k resolution set of internal texture, which is probably a good thing for people using GPU with lower VRAM levels Flight Model. I thought it was OK, certainly not bad and for Early Access, it's fine. Feels like it could do with more polish, but hey, it's early access There's a few "areas of opportunity" with the control bindings, i.e. I'd like to see my axes options, it's missing a few, and some don't work (have raised a bug report about that) The engine cooling seems to be "early access" as I accidentally overheated it, with no apparent engine damage. Casmo mentioned that he'd not experienced any issues, which could be the fact that he's a much better pilot than I'll ever be, but is also possible that engine damage isn't yet finalised I was able to start it up and take off, just based on having previously flown the P47 a decent amount. Watching Casmo's first video helped me with a couple of elements that I was struggling with (i.e. use of the mixture) No real issues on take off or landing. Made my first carrier landing tonight. As already mentioned, it's a bit of a brown trouser feeling as I expect the wire to catch me towards the rear of the ship (as per on the supercarrier). On the Essex, it was a good deal further down the deck, which rather took me by surprise BTW, when putting the hook down, ensure the gear is already down, as otherwise the hook won't extend FFB seems fine, though I did wonder about the shake of the stick whilst firing the guns. In a real aircraft, would that happen, whilst the rest of the airframe seems unaffected? My guess is not I have all of the other warbirds, and do enjoy flying them. The Corsair is a very interesting addition and being a Brit, and having read about the use of the F4U by the Royal Navy Pacific Fleet, I'm really happy to be able to experience it in VR. Thanks Mag3!5 points

20 June 2025 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, In collaboration with Magnitude 3 we are delighted to bring you the long awaited early access launch of the DCS: F4U-1D Corsair. The ‘Bent Wing Bird’, as she was affectionately named, was built for long range air-to-air and air-to-ground attack operations and packed a serious punch with rockets, bombs and machine guns. It mainly flew over the expanse of the Pacific theater from land bases, but also operated from Essex-class aircraft carriers. Take a look at the launch video here. This is a classic not to miss. This week’s update focuses on providing a number of quality of life core improvements including AI and weapon improvements, with further refinement of the Quick Action Generator. Aircraft such as the F-16C, F/A-18C, and AH-64D as well as several 3rd party aircraft also received important enhancements, In addition to the Corsair, this update features the release of the highly detailed free DCS: Marianas WWII map. This is the first stage of our Pacific Theater of Operations scenario. We will be attending the FlightSimExpo 2025 from the 27th to the 29th of June at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence! Come and find us as guests of the WINWING booth; we’ll be showing off DCS with their latest hardware. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics F4U-1D Corsair Fly it in early access The early-access Corsair features a highly detailed and realistic cockpit and external model that are rendered entirely with PBR textures. The featured -1D version includes a Mk.8 Mod.1 fixed gunsight and even the ASM-N-2 Bat glide bomb. Flight modelling simulates the aircraft’s unique characteristics that made it a deadly opponent to Japanese forces in 1944 and quite a challenge to operate from an aircraft carrier. The Corsair's powerful engine and massive prop torque provides exceptional speed and climb that leant towards its slashing attack tactics against slower and less capable aircraft. Along with the Corsair release, an Essex-class aircraft carrier, Japanese coastal guns and ground vehicles will be available for free as part of the Core update. Other assets are being created such as the F6F Hellcat and many United States and Imperial Japanese air, ground, and naval units. Please see: Pacific Theatre of Operations | CH-47F Development Progress | Lunar Sale Final Hours - Official Newsletters - ED Forums. For this scenario, we are creating an extensive and accurate set of units that match the time and location. This will allow you to recreate the Battle for the Mariana Islands and the Battle of the Philippine Sea. The DCS: F4U-1D Corsair is available now for only $47.99 during the early access phase. Please note that once the module is released, the price will increase to $59.99. DCS Update Development Progress This week’s update is headlined by the free DCS: Marianas WWII map and the long-awaited DCS: F4U-1D Corsair. This update has also squashed several stability and performance bugs, improved AI behaviour, overhauled several missile flight models, and pushed a healthy list of quality-of-life fixes to the Quick Action Generator, Mission Editor, and Voice Chat. Marianas WWII A free map of the Mariana islands that includes Guam, Saipan, Tinian, Rota, and Pagan. Based on period maps and photos of the islands in the summer of 1944, they are characterized by hastily bulldozed runways, cane fields, volcanic ridges and villages under Imperial Japanese control. DCS Core Texture streaming now uses less RAM and disk I/O; Mission-Editor templates and resource-manager copy functions are now working correctly; WWII ground units received proper radar returns; SAM logic prioritises targets more sensibly; Buk and Kub missiles received improved aerodynamics, while the R-27 series of air-to-air missiles now deliver more accurate velocities. The Quick Mission Generator received several improvements such as fixing era/country mismatches, restoring missing aircraft and adjusting altitude and airspeeds. Voice-chat mode selection and mid-transmission slot-switch crashes have also been fixed. Eagle Dynamics Modules F/A-18C received more accurate AIM-7 FLOOD and AIM-9 uncage logic, and the flashlight behaviour has been fixed. Work continues on the new Terrain Avoidance radar mode and the ability to set surveillance MSI surveillance tracks as an L&S and DT2. F-16C Viper saw AGM-65 seeker fixes, INS/GPS drift corrections, HMCS symbology tweaks, and a long list of HAD and CMDS improvements, while the new AN/ASP-33 pod moved into extended testing. Although our hope and intention was to release this new targeting pod for the Viper by the end of Quarter 2 of 2025, it requires a bit more time in testing to ensure a quality release that will include new features such as Multi-Target Tracking (MTT), Picture-in-Picture that combines the infrared and TV cameras, Extended Range (XR) functions, and more. The planned release is for summer 2025. CH-47F receives a major CDU/MFD feature drop including hover-mode HSD, full fuel-and-power pages, data search, progress pages, plus keyboard entry options and pedal-trim fixes. Miscellaneous: the Su-25T instant-actions were added for the Iraq map; the F-86F jettison sound bug is silenced; and the Black Shark 3 enjoys ABRIS accuracy tweaks. Third-Party Additions Orbx – Kola adds six new arctic bases, colour-corrected summer textures, runway-data fixes and an optimisation sweep. Deka – JF-17 introduces TWS-EXP radar mode and radar-page HPT fixes. New Campaigns and Improvements The F-4E Northern Defenders Campaign by Flying Cyking and the P-47D Wolfpack II Overlord Campaign by Reflected Simulations are also now available. Along with the improvements included in last week's update, more campaign improvements will follow later in June. Read the full changelog. FlightSimExpo 2025 Come hang out with us! From the 27th to the 29th of June at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, we’ll be at FlightSimExpo 2025 showcasing two state-of-the-art cockpits equipped with the latest WINWING hardware and ready for you to jump in and experience DCS. We're also excited to share that Grinnelli Designs will be at the show with their own booth, showcasing the highly anticipated DCS: F-100D Super Sabre; a legendary Cold War-era jet. FlightSimExpo 2025 will also host several of our partners, including Orbx, Tobii, PIMAX, and many more. This show offers an exciting glimpse into the future of flight simulation. Come and say hello, try the latest gear, and join our community! Thank you again for your passion and support, Yours sincerely,4 points

This is hands down the best interview/documentary I have seen on the Corsair. 100% worth the watch start to finish. Do not cheat yourself. The last story about the British pilot that ditched in the sea and was picked up by a US submarine was worth the wait. Total honor to listen to these pilots. What I took from it for DCS corsair on the landing is this. Best approach in the Corsair on a carrier is the turning approach. As your wings are coming level with the ship, you should be pretty much one wheel or both close to the deck. When wings level cut the throttle completely. Sounds like a 3-point landing almost. Touch down speed from what the pilots said was 88 to 90 knots. Through a little research total speed over the deck was 28 to 30 knots (need to adjust this in the mission editor. I find a balance between wind speed and Essex Speed). Something I want to try is lifting the tail on takeoff with the brakes applied as stated in the video. Highly recommend listening to these pilots and trying this out in DCS. I will do the same and post a video here. Something else I noticed in the footage was it appeared most Corsairs on deck were launching with cowl flaps closed. I will try this a keep an eye on the temps. Looked like they all had them open on landing. I assume this helps with two things, reducing speed and heat. The other thing I noticed in the footage was on what appeared to be on the break, they were already in full landing configuration with flap, gear, hook down. Not sure if these were wave offs in the video or the proper approach. A lot of good stuff in that video. Look forward to hearing the comments on it.3 points

Where says that taking off should be hard? Why? I find it as difficult as any other warbird. But its way more difficult after the take off, you have to be way more careful not to do something stupid to make the plane stall, then any other warbird.3 points

Instead of spending time to vent your frustrations out in public (it appears you're the only one experiencing these issues), wouldn't you agree your time could have been spend more useful reaching out directly to ED? (Sorry to vent my frustration now, but all these negative "I don't like DCS" and "that's it, I quit" kinda complain-posts aren't useful to anyone)3 points

I thought it was just me and my server at first, somewhat glad to see other people experiencing the same thing. Two of my friends and I dd some extensive testing on this today... We thought maybe it was mods or 2D versus VR... But we kept having the issue in multiplayer even after these tests: -2D and VR tested -Clean install of DCS on server (no mods) and removed mods on my gaming rig -Tested only on Marianas WW2 map, but no mods as said before and no scripts. An interesting side note: We discovered that when entering a server with players already flying, whatever the gear state is of another client when you join is what you see continually. So, if you join a server and a F4U client has their gear up, it visually stays up regardless if they bring their gear down (and even if they land!). If their gear is down when you join, it remains down visually regardless if they raise it. We tested this on my server and other random servers with same results. Something else interesting to note... when joining a server with a client with their gear up, when that client lowers their gear what is seen is the main gear DOORS opening, but no gear extension. here's a couple screenshots after a client landed that had their gear up when we joined the server.3 points

It pains me to see this thread. M3 had sent me messages a long time ago, years now, but unfortunately they went cold on us. Maybe we will get contacted again if enough "noise" is made, but not sure. Polychop saw the opportunity to work with us, and the community has loved our work and involvement on projects. So, why not... It's up to Magnitude 3 at this point if they choose to re-engage in conversations with us. I hope they do, but we'll see.3 points

I may end-up placing a junction link there, so as to use a single kneeboard set of pages for both variants, to save a bit of drive space and to ease update maintenance Cheers!3 points

Hello, everyone I ran some test on CCIP (too many unexpected misses) and wanted to share the following: Basically I used 40c weather with no wind or turbulence and two 30m marked radius with a live tank in the middle as targets for FA-18C & F-16CM while I use CCIP bombing in both platforms. The Hornet CCIP is accurate enough to shack the target & hit inside of the 30m radius (marked with green smoke) While the Viper hits always fall short and well outside 30m target radius (marked with red smoke). * Looks like the F-16 CCIP inaccuracy grows with the mission temperature value (20C hits closer then 40C ). Mission file: #REL - Dead Sherman Range - Nevada.miz .trk files: CCIP Test 2.trkCCIP Test3.trk Videos links: 1. first run 2. second run 3. Third run 4. BDA run Mission details: null null null I hope that's enough data to help ED team to investigate & fix the issue.2 points

When you turn, it wants you to anticipate with rudder input, same as one of the tailwheel planes I fly IRL, some planes are like that, so I don't know if it is overdone or not, but it feels the same as when I turn IRL, all the turns needs to be coordinated with rudder or else lots of yaw.2 points

That's a bit like blaming the road if your car's engine stops every time you hit a pot hole. Not an ideal situation, but a proper car should be able to deal with it. The DCS client and master server should simply be more resilient to less than ideal internet connections. Even if a session check with the master server fails, the client should try to reauthenticate Instead of just terminating. That should be a relatively straightforward change that'll make a lot of paying customers less frustrated. I've litigated the issue in detail here (first post updated since you reported it to the team):2 points

At least you acknowledge that you are already filled with hate, which can be a first step in recognizing where a problem may be. Of course two things can be true at once, and yes, there are definitely toxic people around. AFAIK, @Kanelbolle is not amongst them. I usually recommend that you do not interpret, and simply try and find out the facts. You already have everything you need, and it would have taken you another minute - less than it would have taken you to write your angry post - to find out (and I do agree that DCS documentation is bad. Really bad. That's why it's better to try and find out). Are you sure that you weren't just looking for a way to vent your anger? You do sound angry to me. If you want to force your will on others (instead of talking to them and coming to a mutual agreement), that is of course your prerogative. Your server, your rules. It won't be a popular server if the rules that you enforce go against the mainstream, and that may not be your goal. I run my servers so people can have fun which ever way they want.2 points

https://ww2aircraft.net/forum/threads/the-myth-of-the-british-fixing-the-corsair.63807/ Here is a long discussion about the myths and controversies about the carrier suitability of the Corsair that might be interesting. One of the reasons the F4U was delayed for sea duty in USN service was to avoid the complex logistics of carrying two separate fighter types on a single ship/supply chain. The Navy initially decided to go with the F6F, which was obviously getting the job done.2 points

I know that this is not the answer to your question, but you might want to reconsider your approach here: Either use 72Hz mode or use 120Hz and lock to half framerate (without smartsmoothing). I would think that both options offer you a better experience than what you are doing currently. But thats up to you. As for the Super: I guess you won‘t be able to make use of the full resolution of the Super, but yes, DFR will help.2 points
