Vedremo come andrá. Nel mentre, fatemi un fischio se ci sono argomenti che possono interessare.

  8. First of all, thank you for this most anticipated map! I like it very much and can´t wait to fly more missions in it, especially in the coming eastern part. Just flew a dawn raid mission with helos and found it slightly disturbing that even the remotest villages had all houses lightened up. That was not the case IRL... Maybe you could deactivate the electricity in the villages. That would improve the immersion, thank you.

  9. AMAZING work, guys ! A HUGE THANK YOU for your patience and for creating this masterpiece. I discovered a small thing that I suspect will be fixed soon: There's a display issue with the numbers and roundels on the fuselage on all skin versions. The "Loki's Revenge" version is missing an upper texture. The "Tiger Force" version's tailplane texture should be white, not brownish-green. The observer's hole isn't round. Screenshots are below. Thanks again for making us dream. NOTE: I haven't finished counting the rivets yet !

  13. You just need to make sure the CP, STR and LN are in the same group. And that the group is set to alert status red. You also need to make sure the radar has a reasonable clear view of the target, as it is a ground based radar with its limitations against low flying targets. The launcher will then launch the missile when all its required parameters are met, and that will almost always be less than the missile max range.

  15. Dear @Calvin.Pimax, could you please give the community an update on when we can expect the next version of Pimax Play? Currently, many Super users like me are still experiencing some problems with the headset (especially at night and with tracking), and we are naturally hoping for a significant improvement in the next PP version. I'm asking because it's become suspiciously quiet on the software news front. Last but not least, when will the lighthouse faceplate be available for the Super? Thanks!

  18. A bit off topic, but cockpit layouts are something you just get used to. I've been flying red exclusively for 10+ years, and when you put me in a NATO style cockpit, I am completely lost. If you ask me, Soviet style artificial horizont with separate pitch and roll axis is way better, but that's just me. I got used to this style and now I can't unlearn it

  19. Final trials of the Experimental Anged Flight Deck. Carrier at 33 kts. Wind 12 kts 15000 lb max load. Don't take it too seriously. It's just fun to do. I have since found out that this is more or less how they tested the first angled flight on HMS Triumph in 1952). This was soon followed by USS Midway using the same method, ( landing on a straight deck at an angle). This would allow a clear fly off in the event of a bolter. ..

  21. The AG radar cannot control the radar pitch. At narrow scan angles, the radar only displays the image directly in front of it, and the scan range does not follow the radar cursor. These problems have been going on for about a year.

  22. The Outpost campaign was made by someone else, so I'm sure it wasn't a 'deliberate lowering of standards' nor 'negligence'. Every campaign maker is different, with different ideas, experience, etc...we often don't even play each others' campaigns, because we don't know how to fly that module. ( e.g. have no clue about the Apache) So, some details would be nice to hear what Fight's On Simulations should work on to improve this and any upcoming campaigns. You mentioned AI voices, that's a good start. I agree, real people will always sound better. What didn't you like about the voice filter? Too distorted? too quiet? How could the scenarios be less 'basic'? Should they be more difficult? Or more planes and actors being around for more immersion? Such feedback helps us improve, I know it helped - and still helps me over the course of the past 6 years.

  23. Thanks for the suggestions! It mostly depends on how ED choose to implement ground-based EW in DCS. But as I always say, I'm open to most ideas. Since this is a DCS core asset, please ask these questions in the core asset pack subforum, it's easier to keep them apart, thanks. I would recommend you attach the test mission for me to try. https://forum.dcs.world/forum/1337-currenthill-asset-packs/ All good suggestions! I've the 2S7 would be really cool. Thanks! It's using the Giraffe AMB radar, so I believe 150 km is a pretty reasonable range.

We’ve added new ruin objects in London and Paris that will make your flights over the cities even more atmospheric. Get ready for new challenges in DCS: Normandy 2.0! We added German radar points and air defense positions. The radars were laid out based on historical data, maps and reports including materials kindly provided by our community. Get ready to take off! … and check your flight plans so you don’t become a target yourself.

  29. Just noticed the four downwards sticky pins and suddenly grasped their purpose (or so I believe). The compass "sticks" at any significant bank or pitch preventing compass accumulating spin momentum. Real (glider) compasses I've seen, spins on turning (a glider turns all day long...) and keeps oscillating after straightening out. It's unreadable while turning and 30 sec or more after. But whenever the Spitfire turns (banks) the P8 compass sticks", doesn't gain spin momentum, it then unlocks at straight and level, making for a more sedate settling. Made a video, external view and compass splitscreen (two DCS Replay recordings, frames synchronized). Video White cross is north. Compass is free on takeoff, sticks on ascending left turn, unsticks at level [1:37], sticks (flips twice) while rolling. Sticks/unsticks intermittent right descending turn before landing. Funny it doesn't stick at -43 bank, but giving benefit of doubt to modelers, it's more complicated than angles, there's also acceleration. Note, pitch and bank are very readable center of video for comparison (after YT gets focused at 15s). Note to self (and interested) making the video Command line FFmpeg is a very versatile free open-source Swiss knife software for video editing. One would think GUI packaging of FFmpeg like "Handbrake" would include menued templates for common things like splitscreen. It doesn't. FFmpeg is the simplest, if not only, free tool I found for this. It's akin to linux or dos scripting, powerful, terse, complicated, incomprehensible... Anyway, found templates online to adapt. Recorded DCS Replay with Xbox Game Bar [Win + G]. Used click "Fly" scene-shift to synchronize, that's why they're staggered. Obviously couldn't click "Fly" at the exact same millisecond both videos but single stepping MPC-HC video player to scene-shift and then go "MPC-HC -> Navigate -> Go to..." gives the current video frame (and millisecond). 43 - 36 = 7 frames. Also, Right-click MPC-HC time display "High Precision" gives milliseconds. Found (adapted) command online: ffmpeg -i video1.mp4 -i video2.mp4 -filter_complex "[0:v]null [left];[1:v]tpad=7:start_mode=add [right];[left][right]vstack" Spitfire_compass.mp4 The relevant part is "vstack", stack vertical and "tpad=xx", delay XX frames. I'm sure this includes redundant syntax. Just: ffmpeg -i video1.mp4 -i video2.mp4 -filter_complex vstack video3.mp4 will vertical stack videos ("hstack" horisontal) but what's the correct syntax to add "tpad" delay? I copied and adapted something that works including redundant syntax.

  30. Russia has started a full blown war against Finland, Norway and Sweden. You are a part of a coalition force called Polar Shield, consisting of these countries. As a Viper pilot, you have been sent to Evenes Air Base to be a part of the RNoAF 334 squadron. Defend Northern Europe against Russian aggression. Get to flight line and see what missions we have for you today. Polar Shield is a 24 mission campaign spanned over a year (march 2016 - feb 2017) in a fictional war between Russia and Northern Europe. This campaign consist of 7 main types of mission (CAP, CAS, Missile Defence, Pinpoint Strike, Canyon Run, Urgent Delivery and Sea Patrol). When you start a mission, you will get the option to pick from 4 different mission types, where CAP is always one of them, and the last three is a random mix of the last six mission types. Each mission type consists of a variety of different sub missions (which will be generated randomly), so you will never get the same mission, since enemy and allied spawns are random. Overview: Each time you start a mission there will be randomly spawn X number of Bogey Groups coming from north west all down to south east of the map with X number of planes in each group (random of 2-4). Their spawning time is also a random time between mission start and 1 hour out. Expect Su-27/33, MiG-29, MiG-31 and occasionally Su-23 and Su-34. If you pick a mission type which is NOT CAP, both the north and east CAP will be taken care of by AI, also random what planes, but it's a mix of Finish F/A-18, Norwegian F-16 and Swedish JF-17 (sorry, the only stock DCS Swedish jet is Viggen, and it will be a little too old for the rest of the field. JF-17 is somewhat the closest I could find in DCS which can resemble the JAS 39 Gripen). Anyhow, if you're doing, for instance a CAS mission, and either the AI south or north CAP goes down, you will be asked to abort your current mission and be reassigned to do CAP. AWACS Overlord will tell you on UHF CH2 if that happens. (In testing I feel this scenario can happen 1/10 of the times). If you're doing a missile defence mission, and the above scenario occurs, you will not be reassigned to CAP unless you and your wingman has taken down all incoming cruise missiles. When you pick a mission, you will get a briefing text with everything you need to know. You can view this briefing from the F10 menu anytime. Note : you can safely compress time whenever you want. Whenever something important comes up, the mission itself sets time compression back to normal. Note 2 : any mission will fail regardless of what you have achieved if the AWACS goes south Note 3 : steerpoint 1 will always be bullseye and steerpoint 2 will always be homeplate (Evenes) The 7 mission types 1. Combat Air Patrol This is your go-to A2A mission. You will be randomly sent to either EAST or NORTH. You will always fly as wingman #3. You must take your own decisions, you will not get any direct orders from wing lead. It's DCS AI, so don't expect them to be super smart. The bandit spawn odds will be multiplied by 1.8 if you pick the CAP mission, just to stir things up a bit. There will also be in total 7 friendly planes (including yourself) doing CAP, rather than the normal 4 (2 planes on each front). There's a magnitude of randomness that can happen here, so stay sharp. Apart from Urgent Delivery, CAP is also the only mission type you really need to use the tanker. The other mission types will normally not require air-air refueling as long as you fly economically The CAP mission will always be available to choose, so A2A-only pilots at least has one A2A mission to pick. 2. Close Air Support There are 12 different locations on the map where you can be sent, as well as what kind of enemy units that can spawn is also random. There can be AAA and SAMs amongst those units. The JTAC/AFAC will prioritise those, if any. Hopefully Use the in game JTAC-feature to get MGRS unit coordinates and such. The JTAC will always be on VHF CH3 3. Pinpoint Strike 25 different buildings you can be tasked to destroy. All are within Russia border, and all are most likely guarded by SA-10/S-300 (which also spawns at random places every time). Due to a bug in the Kola map at the moment, it's not possible to detect whether a building on the map is destroyed or not, so I've putted a COW on the roof of the building you're expected to destroy. You will be escorted by 4 F-16s with Harms and AMRAMS, which will try to act as more attractive targets than yourself when you fence in. AWACS can ask you to go for another more important building mid flight, so you need to pay attention to UHF CH2. 4. Sea Patrol Either you will be tasked to check out suspicious Russian wessels near one of the oil rigs/gas fields of Norway, or you will be tasked to take out a Corvette (which will fire at you if you come close enough). You will, regardless of which sub mission, be given a picture of the ship type you're about to destroy. There can be a lot of civilian wessels (random spawns) out there, and shooting at one of them will automatically fail the mission. 5. Missile Defence 5 random different cities on the west coast of Norway can be attacked. You will fly lead with one wingman. You can change the ROE of your wingman with F10 menu, but it will not act as a "real" DCS wingman. Anyway, you need to take out in total of 6 cruise missiles (Kh-65) before they hit land. They fly kinda slow (around 4-500 knots?), but extremely low. You will get the radial to intercept the missiles in the mission briefing. Don't panic/rush, you have plenty of time to take them out. 6. Canyon Run - Destruction of Enemy Air Defense One of seven different military bases has been attacked by Russian forces. You will fly as wingman with Springfield 1. Follow Springfield 1 in close formation through low level flying across fjords and mountains. Your job is to clean up the site after Springfield 1 has provided SEAD cover. 7. Urgent Delivery (non-combat unless CAP scramble) You will be tasked to pick up an important item from airport A and deliver it to airport B. Make sure you've mounted a travel pod. Fly as fast as you can and make sure to refuel/rearm fuel bags when you pick up the item. You need to deliver the goods within a time frame set to match the distance you need to travel. You need to use the blower. A lot. General tips Unless you're flying CAP or Urgent Delivery, there's absolutely no need to use the burner at all. Kola is a big map, and there are some pretty far stretches you need to fly. Use time compression and autopilot rather than the blower. Just my 2 cents. CRUS page is your friend! One last thing, just in case it isn't obvious, don't forget to put some weapons on your plane with the Rearming/refueling screen before you take off Download: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3347247/ A big thank you to @Don Rudi. 37. Thank you @Thamiel, @AeriaGloria, @Flanker for responding to my questions regarding the difficulty. I bought it and have tried it out. I think Flanker probably was right that it's one of the easier ones. I have almost no experience in FC3, so the ease of flying really really surprised me. The plane I've been flying lately is the C-101 trainer, and this aircraft, flying-wise, is about as easy as that. On my first flight after mapping essential controls, I just took it around the pattern for 6 touch and goes, and all of them were decent, by the third and fourth I was greasing the landings, and by the actual full-stop landing I was airbraking, nose wheel off. By contrast, no matter how much time I spend in the Phantom, or even the F-5E, my landings are almost always like dropping a sack of bricks on the pavement. It's especially easy, because unlike some of the others, you have so much power and acceleration that even when you get behind the power curve, you can get yourself right back in front of it again. Was a little bit weirded out that in the English cockpit labels version, the units were in Imperial not Metric. Not used to that, but it's intuitive because those are my units. I still don't know whether the Variometer is in ft/min or m/s. I just completed the startup tutorial, and it reminded me a lot like the MiG-21, which I think is on the gentler end of the learning curves of DCS modules. This seems like a 3rd gen cockpit, but with some impressive 4th gen capabilities. So, this is just about the right thing for me to learn right now. Fourth landing approach, no sweat at all, and what a beautiful airplane. I couldn't have done it better if I'd had a Fly-By-Wire aircraft and a Velocity Vector on the HUD.

  39. Hello, this video details every single spec about the radar and IRST air to air modes. You’ll learn all there is to know, scan times lock times, which mode is better at what, which vertical scan covers more space, notch speeds getting rid of notch speeds and other filters, coverage of each mode, many tips and other little related things. What isn’t implemented but will be. Everything! I apologize for all the numbers, I just hope it helps some people out there! Next is COOP mode once it is more complete!

  42. DCS (and this map too) needs map-object-glass-material for rendering .REF 3D models/packages. Something similar to what .EDM models use. I see that this glass-material is completely missing from the screenshots (and from the current map-object-3D-models on/of other maps), such as the windshields of the vehicles, the windows of the hangars and control towers etc.

  43. If you try to change the specific Liveries to use "standard" Roughmets or other textures you will ruin the overall look of the aircraft. I can only speak for myself, but my liveries are custom made, with custom Roughmets, Normals and Diffuse. I made the VF-301 livery. If the Tail doesn't have MipMaps, that's just an error that I didn't catch, as my default export is to have MipMaps autogenerated. I think your premise is wrong. No offense intended. But many of the high quality liveries are because they DO NOT use standard cookie cutter textures. So custom textures which were added, may increase the size from default textures in order to introduce higher resolution imagery or new imagery )like normals that don't exist in the default for example), for increased detail over stock items. Not all liveries are like that. But some are. Generally the passion projects for the livery artists will have much more detail. If you were to replace all the RM from the liveries I made, for example, you would destroy the overall final finished look of the aircraft since mine were made with specific Roughmets that contains the additional details present in the normals and the albedo. Along with adjusted albedo colors to support the Roughmets that were created for them. For example, NONE of mine use generic CIC patterns or weathering patterns. All of them are unique and based on photos of the real aircraft with as similar weathering patterns as can be achieved from historic record.
