Who We Are: vTF-77 is a high-octane, West Coast-based DCS task force specializing in fighter, attack, and expeditionary operations. HELLO AND WELCOME TO FIRST IN DEFENSE Who we are We are a DCS unit that hosts casual yet challenging Naval and Marine events and campaigns taking place during the closing years of the Cold War, as the Soviet Union begins to crumble and tensions in the Middle East escalate. To further simulate this time period, First In Defense simulates five squadrons and their accompanying airframes: ➣ VF-31 Tomcatters flying F-14A Tomcats ➣ VFA-132 Privateers flying F/A-18C Hornets ➣ VMFA-321 Hell’s Angels flying F-4S Phantoms (Simulated by F-4Es) ➣ VMA-542 Tigers flying AV-8B Harriers ➣ VMA-133 Dragons flying A-4M Skyhawks (Simulated by A-4Es) All of our simulated squadrons participate in each of our operations, requiring constant teamwork and precise timing to complete objectives and return safely. Custom liveries representing the listed squadrons are available and are mandatory for member attendance. Squadron Event Information Events include weekly operations ranging from casual single missions, expansive PvE campaigns, joint operations with neighboring squadrons, and monthly tournaments. Each mission is hosted Thursday through Sunday, with run times tailored to North American players. Due to the nature of our squadron, training and related activities are not currently included in our syllabus. As such, our squadron does not require check rides or proof of skill to join and participate in operations. All we ask is basic proficiency with your chosen airframe and SRS functionality. Although frequent events may be challenging to new players, we strive to create missions that are completable by all skill levels and provide valuable learning experiences for all members. Information regarding weekly mission dates, map information, mission briefings and sign-up forms are posted on our Discord channel (See below). Please note that access to this intel is only available after submitting a squadron application. Leadership & Advancement As our squadron does not require training or check rides, rank and advancement are entirely based on member attendance. Each attending member begins as a Navy Ensign (ENS) or Marine Second Lieutenant (2LT), based on their chosen airframe and squadron. В этой одиночной миссии вы, как пилот ЛА, выполняйте случайные задания авиационного полка выбрав любой имеющейся у вас в DCS ВС, не надо открывать конструктор и менять свой самолёт или вертолёт на желаемый. Особенности миссии: · Атмосферная озвучка: почти каждое действие пилота озвучено, что создает ощущение полного погружения в атмосферу работы авиаполка и серьезности происходящего. Детали: – На аэродроме вылета присутствует техника, живая сила союзника, суда взлетают и садятся, он живет своей жизнью. - Используйте БПЛА для подсветки войск противника. - 200 аудиофайлов: подлинные переговоры пилотов, инструкции по выполнению задач, голос работы диспетчеров, оперативного штаба, авиационного крыла поддержки. Только 30% из них были озвучены с помощью искусственного интеллекта, но с использованием высококачественных и реалистичных голосов. Остальные же были записаны реальными пилотами и другими специалистами, имеющие непосредственное отношение к ВКС. - Задания можно получить на стоянке ЛА аэродрома Нальчик, там же есть возможность их изменить. - Присутствуют, несколько видов заданий: «ОВО» – общевойсковые операции, «СЗ» – специальные задания, «БГЗ» – боевые задачи в горной местности. - Каждое задание уникально, повторений и похожих нет. - Что-то пришлось упростить, но только для полного понимания игрока игрового процесса. Правила игры: Чтобы воспользоваться радио меню, нажмите «/» на клавиатуре. В меню выберите пункт F10 Другое… и далее: - «ВЗЯТЬ ЗАДАНИЕ» — для замены или получения полётной задачи; - «Текущее задание» — для просмотра выбранной задачи; - «Запустить БПЛА» — для управления дроном откройте карту местности, кнопка F10, наведите на дрон и задавайте ему маршрут, техника противника будет маркироваться дымом красного цвета, код лазера 1113. - После выполнения задания вернитесь на аэродром базирования Нальчик. Чтобы пополнить боекомплект, воспользуйтесь ВП или любым аэродромом. - Вы можете сменить летательный аппарат через меню миссии, нажав «esc». If not 100%, how often out of 10: 10 How to reproduce/ description: Step1: Switch off anti-skid, turn the aircraft to the right whilst taxiing and apply right brake. Starboard wheel brake will not lock-up. Step2: Do the same with the port side and the wheel brake will lock-up. I believe this is as it should be.   12. An amalgamation of my AIM-120A and AGM-88 mods for the F-14 while also adding some other modern weapons that would bring the Tomcat into the modern era. The JDAMs (GBU-31, GBU-38, and GBU-54) are basically their unguided equivalents and cannot be guided via GPS and require manual pylon and weapon type selection. AIM-120 double racks do not properly show up when you fire the 2nd missile off the pylon and results in one missile to appear to be there visually even though you had fired it. Disclaimer: Please at least credit me when you make derivative mods when you post them on places like r/hoggit or the DCS forums (and maybe also tell me that you did make a derivative mod which is preferred).   19. Hi, I am not sure why I can't eject myself from F14 while get shot by my enemy in either instant action or MP since DCS 2.9 is it because my canopy goes dark (I died completely) every time? I recalled that DCS 2.8 never made my canopy dark always so I could eject myself. Thanks.
  20. Hello Heatblur and everyone. I noticed something odd regarding the new bomb color graphics not showing in-game for pylon 1B and 8B; however, they do show within Mission Editor armament screen. I have attached three screenshots to better illustrate. Note that pylon 3, 4, 5, and 6 are showing everything correctly both in armament screen also in-game (not shown in attached screenshots). The screenshots showing a Mk.83 and x 2 Mk.82SE loaded on respective pylons within ME, but once I actually start the mission under an AI controlled the said ordinances will default back to their olive drab (USAF) color. Am I missing something or did something wrong? Does anyone notice this anomaly? Pic 1: Mk.82SE on pylon 1B showing only olive drab despite being selected as USN greyish concrete color within ME Fuze option panel. Same anomaly can be seen for Mk.83 on pylon 8B. Pic 2: For pylon 1B, the Mk.82SE is clearly selected within fuze option panel to show USN color within the ME armament screen. Pic 3: Meanwhile, a Mk.83 on pylon 8B is also selected with USN color within same screen. Does any of your Tomcats showing such a disparity between ME vs in-game for bomb color? I seem to recall instant action missions (e.g. silkworm Persian Gulf) and user files missions defaulting GBU laser code to 1688, it seems now this default is some random 6digit number (documented in Kneeboard). LANTIRN TV display cycles between valid codes, however cannot sync. Is this a side-effect of the new fusing in DCS?
  23. Hey there, I'm writing this post, as I thought some newer users may appreciate it, or a sort of PSA if you will. The learning curve involved with DCS, as well as learning your aircraft of choice is a massive task to undertake. As much as it is inspiring to watch a DCS YouTuber effortlessly dogfight your favourite plane or dodging SAMs, it is also quite daunting learning how to get to that same point of skill. Perhaps you've found yourself mixing your training between haphazardly referring to the manuals, scouring forums, and YouTube videos. You're getting to the point in which you've played most of the instant action scenarios and some of the free missions, and feel like you need to take it further; and the option of multiplayer seems more attractive. However, unlike dogfighting against computers, you're operating alongside(or perhaps against) humans, which can feel like a quantum shift. You may be considering online squadrons, but nervous about your skill level in relation to theirs. Believe me when I say this, the vast majority of squadrons love to have more people share in their hobby, and take great pride in training people up. The great advantage of multiplayer, and by extension online squadrons, is the added value of learning, community, and most importantly immersion. When I first considered multiplayer, I was quite apprehensive, but once I joined I never looked back, and my flight simulation hobby is vastly enriched because of it. Learning: This can be a sticking point for newer people, since they feel that they aren't adequately experienced, or not good enough for an online group. This may be counter-intuitive, but in some scenarios, being less knowledgeable and joining a squadron to learn can be better. Ultimately while you're in single player, you don't know what you don't know, whereas when you train with other people, they can immediately identify what you need to learn, or what's not going right. Most DCS modules are extremely complex, and frankly the learning process for all of us never ends; we're all just at different points in that journey. As a newer user, you will massively benefit yourself to join a squadron as they can tailor your training requirements. Additionally, many instructors enjoy teaching, and it further enriches their hobby. The core note here is that you won't be burdening anyone from whatever experience level you're starting from, and most instructors love to teach anyway. Community: This may seem marginally obvious, but actually having people to share in your hobby is great. Flight simulation, let alone the DCS community is quite niche, it's not like you can easily have fellow hobbyists down the road. Instead communities are globalised over the internet as we're all spread few and far in between. Thanks to platforms like Discord, the value of community within a flying group is far greater in which you can jump in and talk to your fellow squadron mates seamlessly. Since I've been part of DCAF, I have made some great friends, and I enjoy being able to share my hobby with likeminded people. Immersion: At the end of the day, the value of flying with other humans rather than AI can't be understated. Whether flying with a human RIO or operating as a flight(or both!), the immersion offered is unparalleled. I'm still always impressed when I'm part of a flight of four in parade formation, as we all collectively work together. Or when you all go into a mission, splash some bandits and return to the carrier, the sense of achievement at the end of it is exceptional, because you all had to work together and thoroughly plan what you were going to do, and reaped the rewards of it. I often find going back to single player scenarios feel rigid and too 'sterile' now, since the only human component is yourself. Like what I was saying over learning and community, flying as part of a group fundamentally enriches the hobby. This can be a good opportunity to scope out what it's like to join a flying group.   24. Hi, will new voice commands such as setting the target aspect switch and the upcoming (hopefully next week) Jester LANTIRN functionality eventually be added to VAICOM Pro/ AIRIO? Or do we have to (somehow) create custom voice commands ourselves? I'd rather not have to dive into creating these things, as I much rather fly than fiddle around with setups (just got into VR and that in itself was a major feat to get it running smoothly on my very dated rig). Let's say I've thoroughly scratched all my setup itches for 2021.
  25. I can't select the F-14 in the mission editor. It doesn't show up at all. What is the problem?
