cercata Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 Offcourse. Terrain engine optimize the whole simulation and for sure not only VR! :D Are you sure ? He said he found an issue, not he made optimizacion. Maybe the issue is related to VR, that you must render the image twice, and something related to terrain was made twice too without being needed, and the improvement is only for VR. Maybe not, but don't hype people, he just said 50% improvement on VR.
jeffmaysefaith79 Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 I just saw that Oculus released ASW 2.0. Wondering if this will be available in DCS as they said developers need to provide depth data for it to work. Ishbob88 Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 I also saw ASW 2.0 was released today. ED, please utilize this new tech as soon as possible. With a 50% increase in performance and ASW 2.0 we could have an amazing experience. https://www.roadtovr.com/oculus-launches-asw-2-0-asynchronous-spacewarp/

hansangb Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Hey everyone, Earlier we mentioned that we have been working on DCS VR optimization. I have good news today! After much investigation and work, we traced the issue back to the terrain engine. We have since adjusted the terrain engine, and this has resulted in a 50% increase in VR performance! We will continue to test and optimize this further, but we hope to have this great improvement to you soon. SonofEil Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 (edited) I’m totally gonna nullify those gains by quadrupling my pixel count with a new headset. ; ) Seriously though, a 50% performance improvement is an incredible claim. Experience has taught me to be skeptical of those, and very skeptical of the word “soon”. Here’s hoping this is the exception! sea2sky Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Seriously though, a 50% performance improvement is an incredible claim. From what I understand - they (ED) have optimized certain areas of the maps where the VR performance was suffering from the engine 'imperfections' etc. That does not mean we will see 50% fps boost :) everywhere, just some areas. I hope I'm wrong though :) i5-9600K@4.8GHz ★ 32Gb DDR4 ★ rtx5070ti ★ Quest Pro ★ Warthog on Virpil base

Hi Wags, Since the Caucasus map is done, can you provide info on what exactly you mean by "50% increase in VR performance"? Is it in most areas or certain areas of the map? Does this include populated areas such as airbases, cities, etc? Is it an actual frames increase? boedha68 Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 I expect a Total increase. I think that in the terrain things were double projected. So performance decrease. By optimizing the bottleneck we getting a huge boost overall. But that’s my opinion.
