M28 Skytruck / MC-145 Coyote and Antonov AN-28 (AI only) mod by PRCCOWBOY v1.0.0813 The PZL Mielec M28 Skytruck / Bryza is a multi-mission aircraft that can be deployed in troop and cargo transport, med-evac, maritime patrol and reconnaissance missions. It is an improved version of the Antonov An-28 aircraft. This mod includes multiple variants of the M-28 / MC-145 / AN-28 using loadouts to choose the various configurations. The types are split between two plane "assets" which are displayed as the 'M-28/MC-145 (CLP)' and 'An-28/BRYZA (CLP)' in the Mission Editor - alphabetically listed with the C's (Cowboy's Livery Pack M-28/An-28). ========================= Now available. Download link in 1st post of this thread ========================= Included are various liveries, including: - (RUS) Aeroflot - (POL) An-28 BRYZA 1R 1006 - (POL) PZL Factory paint - (POL) Air Force M-28B/PT 0221 - (POL) Border Guard M28-05 SAR SN60YG - (POL) NAVY M-28B1-RM 0810 - (UKR) Antonov Airlines UR-NTE (added in 1.1.1007) - (USA) MC-145A 00321 Variants include, by plane: An-28/BRYZA (CLP) - An-28 Cargo - An-28 Passenger - An-28 TD - An-28-1R "Bryza" M-28/MC-145 (CLP) - M-28 Cargo - M-28 Passenger - M-28B / PT - M-28-05 SAR - M-28B-1RM "Bryza Bis" - MC-145A "Coyote" - MC-145B SOMA "Wily Coyote" The MC-145B SOMA variant can also be equipped with: - AGM-114 - M-260 HYDRA rockets - External fuel tanks Note: there is a "CARGO" slot included with no payload options currently. This is reserved for future development to allow loading paratroops, paradrop cargo, etc. As always, this is my artistic representation based on photos of the actual aircraft / my modeling skills, and not necessarily 100% accurate. Furthermore, as multiple variants have been combined into "all-in-one" packages some variants may possess capabilities that are not realistic (ie. detection capabilities, countermeasures, etc.) known bugs: -- prop blur remains after engine destroyed -- An-28 engine sounds "odd" =========================== Installation: unzip the files and copy the entire contents of the 'Mods' folder in the zip file to your DCS user files folder, example: C:\Users\[YOURNAME]\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\ (You should end up with a "CLP_M28_SKYTRUCK" folder under Mods/aircraft, example: "C:\Users\[YOURNAME]\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\aircraft\CLP_M28_SKYTRUCK\") ---------------- To UNINSTALL: simply delete the "CLP_M28_SKYTRUCK" folder from the above location (Do NOT delete the entire 'Mods' folder as this will remove any other mods you may have installed) =========================== Changelog: v1.1.1007: added UKR livery; modified props/damage model; modified textures; modified flight performance; other appearance bug fixes v1.0.0813: Initial Public Release TLDR After reading an article about the "Wily Coyote", I decided it would be a good subject for my 1st aircraft modeling attempt in DCS. Although I learned a lot from the experience, the result was something that I was not satisfied with. Furthermore, as I learned more about the aircraft and it's history I wanted to expand to other variants. As such, after a little more experience in modding, I decided to go back and make a 2nd attempt at modeling the MC-145 and different variants of the An-28/M-28. As with all my mods, I attempted to balance enough detail to make it immersive and somewhat realistic with the fact that it is basically a "NPC" (AI) that should NOT be resource heavy to the detriment of performance in the game. That means that this is a bit of a hybrid "all-in-one". I decided not to make separate assets for each variant. Instead, I broke it into 2 for this release. The An-28 that covers variants produced before 1993 and the M-28 for everything afterwards. This release is not "complete." I have included a "CARGO" slot which is currently empty. This is intended for future development of paratroopers, paradrop cargo, etc. I'm sure some of you smart folk will realize that the plane model is already set, coded and animated for this use and will plug in your own favorite paratroopers, etc. (if so, and you have a public domain asset that can be shared with the rest of us, please do because I don't know when I will release a model for this. I don't like modeling people - as you have probably noticed from all my mods) As with my other mods, a simple paint kit will be provided by request (if you ask nicely and I like you). PM me if interested. However, I ask that you share with the community the result of your work. Although not all variants are ISR, I decided to include it in this thread as I still consider it a part of the "magic collection"8 points

Version: 20220817 (DML, P) Download Link: HERE Summary You are tasked to neutralize all hostile forces that have set up on the streets of Beirut. You have a time limit. Features - 1-2 players coop - fully randomized opposition (units and location). Each play-though will unfold vastly different. - mission can be saved and resumed later (requires DCS be de-sanitized) - 2 hours time limit, live mission timer - Limited to 6 player airframe losses - Optional automatic 'Remaining Unit' count. Activate through 'Status Update' via Communications Tip: In two-player co-op, use a Huey Gunship down low and a can opener (Shark/Apache) above to protect the Huey from armor. SITUATION Yesterday, a hostile force of unknown origin, calling themselves "Sword of Faith" (SoF) has infiltrated Beirut and is now taking over the streets by force. We believe them to be followers of a regional warlord who has recently secured substantial funding, and who is now seeking to establish their base of operations. Beirut appears to be that intended base. Bloodshed has been limited so far. This morning, an ultimatum was received by the city's council to officially hand over all authority to SoF, and declare Beirut an official, independent state under the rule of SoF. SoF troops are dispersed throughout the city, controlling key points. Our presence in this area is limited, and we only have six combat-ready assets with us on board of the Tarawa-class Amphibious Assault Ship "Ardennes". We have signaled our intend of support to the city's council. One hour ago, the council has convened to debate and later vote on the ultimatum. Unless we can remove the threat from the streets of Beirut in time, we believe that the council will vote in favor of surrendering to SoF. To secure the region, it is imperative that the council remains steadfast against regional strongmen. OBJECTIVES Neutralize all SoF troops that are controlling the streets of Beirut. We must complete our objective in time and give the council the all-clear before they start voting, which is scheduled to begin in some two hours. We expect the opposition to field a mixture of lightly armored Technicals common for this region, strengthened by some heavy armor. Be advised that SoF is rumored to have access to some heavy AA-capable assets, among them possibly "Gepard" SPAAG and AN/TWQ "Avenger". Also be on the look-out for shoulder-mounted missile launchers, which are reported to have been brought in last night. We are launching Recon One with the objective to scout the area of operations and identify targets for you. Two flights of Cobras are protecting our task force, and will defend Beirut international airport. Eliminate all threats inside the area designated "Rumble Tango" on your map before the vote starts, then report back to the Ardennes. If required, you can rearm and refuel on the Ardennes, crews are standing by. Weather: CAVOK, slight wind from the SW Acknowledgements: Uses Splash Damage 2 by @Grimm Enjoy, -ch3 points

The problem is that "red" countries were much less forthcoming with their aircraft documentation than blue ones. DCS has been about FF modules for a long time, and it just wasn't possible to make FF modules from the red side. If the server owners won't restrict tech to older generation weapons, the solution is either more blue aircraft from the 80s (so we can have more old-timey servers), or red ones from mid-2000s, which would mean Chinese aircraft with PL-12, a perfectly good AIM-120C counterpart from what I've heard (as mentioned, Russian AF kind of sucked at the time).3 points

bignewy sir, could you enlighten me what the export of objects does for the server side? if stormofwar had this off, and it could cure this problem, seems like an easy fix. i applaud -Slayer- for his stance and efforts on this topic. bringing light to this will help with a solution.3 points

I haven't ignored your request. I tried a few styles to convert that flanker pixel livery over to a transport - wasn't happy with the result. I will look at it again if I get around to fictional liveries3 points

It's more like that we don't have the proper Redfor counterparts of NATO jets currently in the sim. The MiG-29K, for instance, or Su-30MKI or MKK. Granted, most of those did not fly with Russia in that time period, being sold abroad, but that's how things were in mid-2000s. Sadly, the militaries that operate them are not forthcoming with the data, maybe Deka can figure something out with the Chinese, but it's more likely we'll be stuck with 90s hardware just like Russian AF was in that period. These will obviously lag behind mid-2000s designs. The Russians have problems because their training sucks. When other people, such as China or India (or even Ukraine), use their kit, they get great results. If you systematically defraud training funds, don't be surprised if your soldiers are poorly trained. Redfor performance in DCS reflects that, Su-27 and MiG-29 are very good aircraft, but they need to be flown properly. An average DCS virtual squadron is probably better trained than actual Russian pilots.2 points

Well guys, as a last ditch effort I rolled back to Windows 10 and that appears to have fixed the problem! I'm going to do some more testing later tonight but everything is much much smoother and no tearing or frame jumps! Thanks again for all the help guys. I will say it again- Best damn community in gaming!2 points

I hope so too. I would pay money for the -S variant so I can fly the historical version of many MiG-19's in Sinai and Syria settings. It's also a better dogfighter than the MiG-19P currently in DCS so, since MiG-23MLA has had little work on it as of late, spending a small amount of rime (relatively) on the MiG-19S before we get the MiG-23MLA would be very much welcome and I hope RAZBAM sees this.2 points

unfortunately the tracks are too long as this is an occurrence in online multiplayer and I cant seem to find a good way to replicate the glitch, of all the engine flameouts probably 10% or less result in an explosion and I cant seem to find the specific circumstances which result in said explosions.2 points

You asked the same thing about the F16s performance in that sub forum with the same reasoning. Maybe, just maybe NATO jets are just better? I mean you only have to watch the news to see what we thought about the “opposition” wasn’t necessarily accurate. I was just reading an article in The Times about the air war in Ukraine and an SU 25 pilot managing to give an SU 30 the slip over many miles until his mate took off (in a Flanker) and shot it down almost at their airbase. If I tried that in DCS I doubt I’d have the same result, those damn SU 30s shoot me down from miles away when I’m in a Hornet, let alone a Frogfoot. Just drunk some beer so maybe this post is I’ll advised on my part, I just get a feeling there is some motivation here that isn’t based on facts. On the plus side for redfor players, DCS 20 years from now, if it still maintains its current level of accuracy, will be 4 F-35s for blue for and that’s it. It’s all we could afford!2 points

In a nutshell, you need to remove a security setting in DCS to give missions the ability to write to file. Missions can use Lua to expand on the mission's ability. Lua is a fully fledged programming language and comes with the ability to read and write to your disk. If DCS allowed any mission to nilly-willy read from and write to your disk, this would open up the possibility of malicious actors to use missions as a vector to attack your computer (this is unlikely in DCS right now, a very real threat in other games, e.g. Minecraft, so this is something to think about) Since DCS is old venerable, it only has a rudimentary security system in place: all or nothing. You can either grant all Lua scripts in all missions access to your entire storage, and you can (as it is by default), completely deny it. Note that if you are playing multiplayer, only the hosting computer needs to enable Lua read/writes. In order to grant Lua access to your storage, you go into a DCS configuration file, and remove two "sanitize" commands - hence the "de-sanitize" moniker. It's up to you to decide if you think the risk is worth the reward. If you de-sanitize your DCS, you can use missions that use this to save and load missions midgame, like "Tango" can. But you may be opening a potential attack vector through maliciously crafted missions. I'm hoping that future versions of DCS adopt a sandbox security model (which is standard today) so that a mission can only write within the context of the mission or DCS, but not outside of that sandbox. To ensure that nobody accidentally disables this security layer, the process to de-sanitize DCS is very deliberate and will scare off anyone not determined to do so: • Go to your main DCS installation (not the saved games folder, we aren’t in Kansas any more) • Open the folder named “Scripts” • Look for the file “MissionScripting.lua” • Back up this file • Open the original • Look for “sanitizeModule('io')” • Place two dashes in front so it looks like this: “-- sanitizeModule('io')” • Look for “sanitizeModule('lfs')” • Place two dashes in front so it looks like this: “-- sanitizeModule('lfs')” • Save and close the file, restart DCS The relevant part of your MissionScripting file should now look something like this: sanitizeModule('os') -- sanitizeModule('io') -- sanitizeModule('lfs') _G['require'] = nil _G['loadlib'] = nil _G['package'] = nil Your DCS is now de-sanitized for lfs and io (note that there is a third option: 'os'. Whenever someone asks you to de-sanitize 'os', become suspicious. It may be legitimate, but granting access to the 'os' module is risky at best).2 points

Then would you please enlighten me as to how they spawn aircraft into a parking spot in real life, so they can do a stored heading alignment? Cause last time I checked, they just parked them there after flying them. It's almost as if there were a procedure that prepares an aircraft for running a stored heading alignment in its last stored parking spot before its next flight...2 points

By the way, it would be great to be able to adjust the probability of random system failures, probably something like a range from unlikely, like a really well-maintained aircraft, to training-level, where there would be a very high failure rate. And maybe another switch to limit the failures per flight to one at a time for training purposes would also make sense, so you wouldn't end up with 4 different systems failing at the same time when you're just trying to learn how to deal with a single failure.2 points

It looks like The Noobifier in his latest video on YouTube has his hands on one for an upcoming review. It was a very subtle glimpse of it, but clearly was not the current CM2 base. And the video is a real chopper pilot testing out DCS and using it, but making no mention of it being the new base.2 points

Am currently negotiating to acquire the above F86 Sabre canopy perspex and complete mounting frame (located in Canada) which has a really interesting history to it. The unit is in brilliant original condition - free of scratches or cracks - and could easily be used on a flying Sabre. If successful, this will be another fantastic addition. Now the exciting part... the canopy was removed from the restored RCAF Golden Hawk One which Vintage Wings Canada restored a number of years ago, and which performed at airshows in both the US and Canada. So... the MVP F86F Sabre Sim pit will have both original RAAF Marksmen and RCAF Golden Hawks equipment installed - making this build even more epic! Many thanks to [MVP] G.LOC (MVP Canada) who will travel out to inspect the canopy and to oversee its packing and shipping... Fingers crossed he lets it out of his hands and onto Australia.2 points

You are absolutely right: in-game R-77 is basically an "extended-range, active radar homing R-73" and you will have great satisfaction if you use it as such. Anything else will leave you very disappointed. I usually use it within 16km distance, fire a couple and then get the hell out of there After an incident I had in MP with 4 R-73s missing a non maneuvering and non countermeasures dispensing target from a distance of 8-5km, I have decided to use the Adders in stead2 points

I do not plan on updating these specific items in 2022. Right now, my focus is on completing the first iteration of the AH-64 guide, then the Mirage F1, then adding recently implemented features for the Mi-24, F-16, and Mosquito... and do a bit of maintenance on the F-5 guide. I do not plan on updating the Hornet guide for a bit. I would still need to add stuff like ACLS and TALDs... which are very low on my priority list at the moment.2 points

It was removed from being placed in the editor, but the files for it still exist in the game. If you load up a mission featuring the CVN-70 it should still exist. Though there seems to be a problem/functionality of the editor that if you select the unit it'll change to the first alphabetical ship type available since it doesn't think the CVN-70 is a valid unit.2 points
