Dear all, the new rounds have been added and I have requested one slight change for the P-51D and it should be coming soon, followed shortly by the P-47 (hopefully at the same time). Thanks all for your extreme patience on this. New Belts for both should look like this: _("API-T '44 - M8 API, M1 I, M8 API, M1 T") _("API-T '44 Strafing - M8 API x 4, M20 API-T") _("API '44 - M8 API, M1 I") _("AP '43 - M2 AP x 2, M1 I x 2") _("AP-T '43 - M2 AP x 2, M1 I x 2, M1 T")9 points

Many of you are waiting for me to continue with the project and today I bring you two renders of the last part that is missing in the cockpit, the ejection seat! Many thanks for your support and comments!8 points

Hi all, to help us get as much information as possible please follow this guide when reporting VR performance issues. What we need: dxdiag ( enter dxdiag into the search box on the windows taskbar. Select dxdiag from the results. In the tool, select Save All Information for an easily shared format.) dcs.log Short as possible track replay where you experience the issue, attach if under size limit or link via a cloud link. Screenshot of DCS settings page and VR setting page. Screenshot of your VR device settings Screenshot of your NVIDIA / AMD control panel settings. This will help a lot when trying to diagnose issues. Hello Viggen drivers! Since I'm not in the habit of making big speeches, let's get straight to the point: During the last months I spent a few minutes re-working the DCS-AJS-37 Viggen Manual RC2 which is delivered with the Viggen module. This was done: - For the community - In accordance with HB (POC IronMike) - For HeatBlur to be used on their purpose, e.g. to extend it further in case deemed necessary by HB authors/SMEs - For beeing used in a new Viggen training project (other story, details upcoming soon) What the manual RC2.1 currently is made of: - All original RC2 content - Hundreds of repairs of community bugs reported over the last 6 years by fellow pilots - Several bugs/issues repaired that came up during the re-working process - Changed/extended many headers in order to have a better and more detailed "Table of contents" - Added numbers to the "big" chapters (01 to 09) - Added bookmarks for all headers - Added "List of figures" at the end of the document - Changed the background picture to a single one (not mirrored like in the old manual) [currently not part of the document] - Changed numbers for better readability, like 1700km now reads 1,700 km - Changed number ranges for better readabilty, like 13,000 - 14,500 kg - Added captions for all figures with no exceptions - The typical "Caution:" text appears now in an amber box - Changed contrast and readability of nearly all pictures - Changed some pictures - Added some pictures - Added RB24 (AIM-9B) section in chapter 04 - Changed the background pictures of the "big" chapters to fit the whole page - Changed this & that here & there in terms of formatting - All additions in this thread >>> see all later posts within this thread with title "Manual Update / Revision". Here you find the link for direct download: DCS AJS-37 Viggen Manual RC2.1 Last change of document: Revision RC2.1.2503 as per March 19th, 2025 Note: This document hase become part of your DCS module in February 2024! Look into the folder DCS\Mods\Aircraft\AJS37\Doc and find the file "DCS_AJS37_Flight_Manual_EN_RC2.1.pdf". Thanks in advance & have fun with that one! Yours sincerely, TOViper3 points

A suggestion for @NineLine (given how often you have to field comments about the age/state of the code in DCS (particularly for us VR diehards)). How about persuading ED to give us a look over their shoulder wrt the performance-enhancing work (and more) that's going on in the background? A video / series of videos perhaps, with insight into where ED are with, say, the multithreading beta? Why we're looking at multi-threading first, before python, etc. I'm sure a lot of us would find this fascinating and reassuring – particularly if presented by (or from the POV of) the developers. I love DCS with a passion (that word again ) but am nervous that my 22 fps with my high-end PC (well, overclocked 3090) won't improve (and that's with shadows off) and that VR is falling a bit by the wayside (see clouds for details). I'm saying this as a big DCS fan. I have enormous respect for all that DCS have achieved and I understand the challenges are not trivial. But a feeling of being closer to it all will (imho) go a long way to placating the user base – just as it does with MSFS. That said, thanks for all you're doing on the forum and elsewhere.3 points

I have reported the issue of the clouds swimming / shimmering during rolls. Please not it is different from the initial report in this thread as that was addressed in a previous patch, so I will lock this thread so there is no confusion. Please understand that to get good performance with the clouds we have to use an algorithm so it may need tweaking. thank you3 points

Fantastic, we all owe you a great debt for this. Do you happen to have a list of the "Hundreds of repairs of community bugs reported over the last 6 years by fellow pilots"? I would love to know what I should be looking for as I read through it. One thing I noticed right away is that the text seems to be more pixelated in RC2.1. I don't know if this is a local issue for me or something you did when converting the document to pdf. Apart from the pixelation I find the new font weight and pitch slightly less easy to read. See below. Hopefully this is not difficult to change. RC2.1 has also lost sharpness in the images. These are screenshots from viewing each version at Automatic Zoom (same apparent size for both) within Firefox 106.0.5 in Windows 10: RC2: RC2.1:3 points

Hello, Thank you for this thread. You can find a similar thread in the VR forum ( ALT ENTER subject ) Here are the result of my test in OpenBeta 2.8 - 'disable screen optimisation in shortcut or DCS.exe' + Vsync ON ( in DCS )+ Autoexec.cfg (FlipMode=False) => ALT ENTER Works in 2D ( and better perf as we are used to get ) : Good ! - 'disable screen optimisation in shortcut or DCS.exe' + Vsync OFF ( in DCS ) + Autoexec.cfg (FlipMode=False) => ALT ENTER Works in 2D but BLackScreen or Transparent window : not playable , BAD - 'disable screen optimisation in shortcut or DCS.exe' + Vsync OFF ( in DCS )+ Autoexec.cfg (FlipMode=False) => ALT ENTER Works in VR ( Rift user for me ) ( BLackScreen on mirror but we don't care ) : Good and performances are as usual in 2.7 ( 90 hz everywhere with my settings ) Conclusion: Maybe the missing ALT ENTER tips could explain some performances issue meet on Open Beta 2.8 ( VR users mainly ) For now, i keep this FlipMode in VR Because DCS OB 2.8 is now as quick as it was in DCS 2.7 ( when ALT ENTER was available ) I can get 90 hz in my whole test mission with new light system, great ! If i remove full screen in VR with ALT-ENTER, fps drop down to 45 hz...2 points

I seriously doubt that. I mean, it is really hard to imagine how much work it would mean to replace that, especially if you are not trained, it would prolly take four to five years, and you couldnt just make a part of it, or the code would break. But it is all in there, in the sounds folder, the voice files and the sdefs. If someones feels like doing that, by all means, knock yourselves out. Mods are generally awesome, but this task is likely a bit beyond what modders can or should invest in terms of free time. Plus you'd need someone who knows at least basic acting, and someone who knows how to direct to match the jokes, emotions, feel, etc, or it would sound very jarred very quick... To give you an idea, when we started with this I had 5+ years directing experience in various theatres, 10+ years acting experience, 5+ years coaching experience for actors, 20 years experience writing and translating literature, Grayson had prolly 10+ years voice acting experience, etc. The balancing act was not only to write and record Jester, but to write and record him so that he has a range of emotions, which when arbitrarily mixed together, still don't jarr. And that's basically all in my head, and difficult to share. Foks who can do that, cost also a lot of money, and from experience would not sign up for a project like that for nothing, probably not even as die hard DCS fans, much less even when not being a DCS fan at all.2 points

Then this is your issue I would say: the carrier turning. Until we implement wheel chocks (at least functionally), the best way to avoid it, is to have the carrier turn after alignment is complete.2 points

It is workable but you have to make compromises. I got pretty good results with my 3070 (a touch slower when stock than a 2080ti) and could generally keep 50-60 fps. If you're happy to use reprojection then you're laughing as you should be able to hold >45Hz with pretty high setting. I did overclock the tits off my 3070 so bear that in mind regarding the following: - With the 3070 I would run openxr at 2400-2600 wide resolution, medium textures*, generally medium settings and no msaa. This was without reprojection, enabling it I could push most things up a bit. If you use upscaling then you'll gain a bit more overhead, I could get up to around 80fps at best but I'm not keen on the aliasing/shimmer caused by the upscaling. *The 2080ti (11gb and 352 bit wide bus) will likely run high without problems but with the 3070 (8gb and 256 bit wide bus) it caused some slowdowns). With the 3080ti I can now run MSAA, higher resolution and high settings whilst getting around 75fps average. The current state of terrain shadows with 2.8 causes me a 4-5ms frametime hit so I turn them off, in 2.7 I had them on flat; the rest of my settings between 2.7 and 2.8 are the same and I have pretty much identical performance.2 points

There is a statement on p. 324 that says, For information on how to set up the "on ground" seeker presets, please refer to the "I Mission Editor Settings" section of the Appendix. I think this refers to the left/right offset and target number selections for the RB04. In one of the recent open beta patches these settings can now be changed from the kneeboard as well, not just the mission editor. On p. 325 it defines a group as "two or more ships" and gives an example of "Ships A and B constitute a group on their own". However, in the game the RB04 only recognizes groups of three or more ships. This text is directly from RC2, but perhaps should be updated.2 points

Yup, I need to come back and add that to the relevant missions. Planning on doing that as I make sure that 2.8 didn't muck up any weather settings. Someday I hope to come back and record real human voiceovers for at least some of the dialogue. Someday ...2 points

A good quick reference is the HSI or SA Page. The target point reference should be directly abeam of the ownship aircraft symbol. If it starts to drift down: increase bank. If it starts to drift up, decrease bank.2 points

This is one of the oldest servers in the DCS community, its MIZ's have been around forever. Our Syria miz is nearly 8k units strong, our original Cauc miz is just shy of 6k units...so you can understand that the MIZs never get rebuilt (tweaked all the time, but started from scratch, yeah, nearly never.) They have always worked from upgrade to upgrade (even from going from v1.x to 2.x!), and we've prided ourselves on working with ED to resolve issues as upgrades roll out. But you sir are spot on - I went into the mission file and simply deleted all the text in the "forcedOptions" section and YES SIR, the Options file is now obeyed!!! So I imagine this "forcedOptions" section in the MISSION file is simply old (probably pre Options file) and something in 2.8 is causing the code to obey the MISSION file if the values are present. This behavior did not exist in 2.7 (go load my original track in 2.7 and you'll see no tooltips, but load it in 2.8 and suddenly tooltips are on!) Thanks - this gives us an easy workaround! Did a flight in Nevada, 2°C at ground level. Front seat pitot heat on all the time. No ASI freezing. In the backseat, pitot anti ice was off. switched to the rear, ASI was at zero, turned rear seat pitot anti-ice on. Some minutes later, ASI showed airspeed again. So don't know, maybe there is something different in MP as I fly only SP. Some more moon pics. current date is perfect, moon sets late in the morning. I guess this is a no fly zone, but no one stopped me flying over Yucca Flat testing site in the sim2 points

Well, translating what the video tells, I asume that those are stall tests, in different altitude and speed patterns. They're mainly induced manouvers to cause/start various stall situations and video reporting the different ways that pilot uses to recover to stable flight, (recorded from different cameras on cockpit hud, rear seat, and other aircrafts). These reactions would have to be tested in the configurations and altitudes/speeds indicated in the video if you want to simulate perfectly the evolutions of the aircraft during the stall in the Sim... (never tried, would do, that´s something to test!) I don't think they can be of any use in combat or any other situation (?) unless stall recovery practice. I think it is useful to see how it recovers the stalls. Nice & interesting vid, by the way!2 points

Here it is ... I am only using the "Dxgi.ll" 3,777KB file from this package. The "D3DCompiler_47.dll" and "openvr_api.dll" are provided by the latest OpenXR and OpenComposite. I did nothing fancy to make it work . . . Just when everything was installed I dropped ReShade into the folder. Hope it works for you! ReshadeVR_4.9.1 Unofficial.rar2 points

i agree with you. my assumption has always been that people wishing for "live" weather have never actually thought it through. maybe they also do not really differentiate between "live" and dynamic weather. simulated, dynamic weather would obviously be the best for dcs. another interesting feature could be "historic" weather to quickly set up well.. historicaly accurate missions. technically it's the same as "live" weather, onyl difference being that it is fed from historical weather data instead of live weather data.2 points

MSAA Mask Size: When you set MSAA Mask Size to 0.1 then MSAA is only working in the center of your Headset. If you set it to 1.0 then MSAA is also beeing used at point you do not look directly. Much better in my point of view. I hate it when iam looking arround and can see the "stairs" poping up when i move my head. DCS Use system resolution: Here you force DCS VR to use the game Resolution set in "system" for example fullhd and not the resolution of your headset (much higher) and in my case its smoother to use the system setting Bloom Effect: I never noticed a difference between on/off in VR - maybe a little bit sharper without bloom on Use Built in audio: Forces the audio to your headset (output, also the microphone for chat)2 points

hi, there will be updates of the Bronco. We know that 2.8 causes loading problems and not only with the Bronco, the whole game has problems with that. We are working on a mix between png and DDS to optimize the loading without reducing the quality and visibility of textures. On our discord you can find channels dedicated to the Bronco. https://discord.gg/xrNhbETp5q At the moment we are working on our new mod and we have kidnapped Dikennek to get some help xD but the update is still in WIP! bests2 points
