  4. Actually they will. That's the point of thread topics. And people who use forums know how they work. It's not terribly uncommon to keep things "on topic". No offense intended here, but anything not related to F-4E is off topic. It's actually a 100% reasonable request to ask people keep a thread topic, on topic. It's about the least controversial request that could possibly be made in a forum.

  8. I just re-tested the Type 1130 CIWS on the Type 055, the sound works as intended. There is no evidence of the Type 1130 using tracers. It fires a 30 mm armour-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot projectile. Fun fact, it launches around 170 lbs of ammunition per second. Which also results in a cost of around $50.000 per second of firing.

  9. I'm updating the Tarantul mod now so once I finish it you will be able to see the missile inside the launchers. I've also updated the missiles as well. Not sure if we will be updating the Hull numbers on the Admiral but anyone is more than welcome to update to 454 as well.

  14. English version / česká verze níže. DCS at airshow „Aviation Pilgrimage“ airport Pardubice LKPD 28-29th of May 2022 https://www.aviatickapout.cz/ I'm Paura CZ. I create tutorials in DCS World for Czech speaking pilots, I am also one of the managing members of multiplayer servers under the name /// MB2 \\\ and instructor of vir. squadron 1.Flight. As part of the Czech community around DCS we were approached by members of the Czech Aviation Association CZAA for cooperation in developing awareness of aviation and aviatics in general. As virtual pilots, we were invited as a performing team at the Aviation Pilgrimage public aviation event at Pardubice Airport 2023 to present the DCS World virtual simulator, our cockpits and our flying experience. This will be our second public participation where we present your DCS World simulator. So, I will tell you how we participated as newcomers in the Aviatic Pilgrimage in 2022. Photos and videos are below. Pilgrimage in 2022. Our presentation started on Friday at Pardubice Republic Square, where we had our computers/cockpits. We had two virtual reality computers ready for visitors to try out the 6dof DCS cockpits. We had a big screen with loudspeakers. The sound of Merlin engine or whistling Mi-24 rotors could be heard in the centre of Pardubice city. Our presentation was a demonstration of Czech and Czechoslovak aviation, where DCS allows to display military equipment in the colours of CZE and SVK: Spitfire, Mig-21, Mi-8 Mi-24, L-39,... For the weekend we had the whole hangar in the centre of Pardubice airport at our disposal. Hangar 10. Our program included several points for visitors: Live flights in virtual reality in L-39 aircraft. Where a visitor as a co-pilot with VR tried out the DCS multicrew with our pilot. (5-10min flight). Presentation on a projector, where three pilots, a director and a commentator showed live demonstrations with communication, for example QRA, Air policing, interception of a non-responding aircraft. Exhibition of our computers and cockpits. And of course the big screen where the DCS videos were running. Children were the most interested in VR flying. ☺ Flying was continuous. This was our goal, with eight of our pilots taking turns for the day. We had the honor of visits from prominent Czech pilots. Here the pilot of the JAS-39Gipen and the Flying Bulls Aerobatics Team, Mr. Čejka. Over 10,000 people visited the Aviation Pilgrimage over the weekend. 300 visitors took turns at our two VR pilot seats of L-39. Thanks to these three days we were invited again. This year 2023 we want to show a little more, to present ourselves more materially. It's about our passion and fandom for flying, for us virtual flying in DCS World. The event comes from our private money. If you would like to support us in this event, a partnership can be created. We are looking forward to May, Hangar 10 is waiting. -Paura CZ / paura19 DCS na aishow Aviatická Pouť Pardubice LKPD 27-28th of May 2023 https://www.aviatickapout.cz/ Jsem Paura CZ. Bude to naše druhá veřejná účast, kde prezentujeme simulátor DCS World. Naše prezentace se týkala ukázky českého a československého letectví, kde DCS umožňuje zobrazit armádní techniku v barvách CZE a SVK.: Spitfire, Mig-21, Mi-8 Mi-24, L-39,… (5-10min let). Prezentace na projektoru, kde jsme se třemi piloty, režisérem a komentujícím předvedli živě zaletěné ukázky s komunikací například QRA, záchyt neodpovídajícího letadla. Ukázka našich vystavených počítačů a kokpitů. A samozřejmě velkoplošná obrazovka, kde běžely videa DCS. -Paura CZ

  20. Currenthill, Just tried the SAM mod and indentified a couple of issues. First, the "drawArgument1 = -1" in both the ANMPQ65 and ANMPQ65A lua files needs to be changed to "= 0" for proper animation tracking of the radar units. The second issue is the "FOV" line shown for the launchers in the ME are 180 degrees out of sync with the radars. I have attached a miz file for your review. Note which radar and launcher fire at the aircraft in reference to what is shown in the ME. Hope this helps in seeing the problem I am having. RustyGunner sam direction test.miz

  30. That's been popping up every now and then for years in this section of the forum. DCS Mustang, just like the Spit (same engines in practical term) has a booster coil in its ignition system, which powers up plugs during cranking even when mags are off (as they might not fire when cranking speed is too low, ie. very cold engine). Unlike in the Spit though, here we've got starter and booster wired to a single switch. Granted, there is a simplification/bug in DCS, which makes it possible to even fly the Mustang continuously with mags off, just by keeping the starter switch on all the time (which would quickly kill both starter and booster in real life I'm sure), but I don't think ED will bother fixing it, since flying that way is only something dedicated loophole-searchers and nitpickers would do just for the feck of it and the switch is spring-loaded anyway (unless you assign it to otherwise in your HOTAS), plus I recall the engine develops severely limited power in such scenario.

  33. Yeah I don't think most people are trying to be rude. I'm also not meaning to sound either. It would go a long way to keep things straight for us though. If people could try to keep it on topic. Because we're actually behind the scenes looking at everything, believe it or not. And it makes it 100x easier when we're not having to sift through pages of not applicable images or info when researching and doing liveries. And finding details. HB listens and there's a lot that you don't see or hear about but stuff we bring up directly that effects good changes and inputs into the product. So, while it might seem stupid at a glance it's actually helpful and is indirectly making things better. But yeah....I have no control over what people do...so I do just ignore it. But if you're interested in helping us find and discern details a little better, keeping it a central "E" repository is a nice to have.

  34. So, I'm not going to address all of your complaints but I will address some of them. Well, not much I can do for you there. I won't apologize for the campaign because I'm very proud of it but I am sorry you're bored with it. I created this campaign for people who were of beginner to moderate levels of experience in DCS and flight simulators in general. As with most things in life, the campaign starts out a little slow and allows the player to build up towards a climactic finish. I must say that I've come to really enjoy flying the Caucasus map BECAUSE it can be so difficult. But the thing I like most about Caucuses map is the differential of the region, Alpine mountains to the north bordering Russia, the western and central plains, the bordering ocean, and the rolling hills to the east. The difficulty of differing terrain makes it my favorite of all the DCS maps. That being said, I also believe in reflecting "real-world" weather conditions as well. If you want bright sunny days all of the time than you should look to other campaign developers. I enjoy the challenge of flying (in flight simulators and in real flight) in realistic conditions; at night (when MOST A-10 CAS missions are flown), rain, wind, clouds and fog. I think that is what separates the men from the boys and women from little girls. I have to take issue with this statement. Many, many people have successfully completed this mission and the campaign. One piece of advice: never forget that altitude and distance are your friends when faced with the possibility of confronting people who would do you harm. Altitude and distance my friend. And yes, this mission CAN be completed. One other thing, An A-10 pilot once told me that the the best way to defeat a SAM is to see it (and evade). Keep your head on a swivel and always jink when you hear the RWR. Don't wait or you'll get hit. Well, I've created the campaign the way I would want to fly one and did NOT want to copy someone else's technique. By all accounts, B.D. is THE master in DCS campaign creation. He should be as he's been doing it for 10+ years? I've only been at it for 2. Thank you for your inputs and I will take them under advisement. All the best, John Postscript - if you are still interested, I will be submitting the updated Operation Agile Spear 2.0 within the next two weeks and it will be a free update to everyone who purchased the original campaign. I hope you like it better.

  37. For you awesome mod makers out there I'd like to add a request/suggestion. With all these helicopters and the C-130 coming some makeshift airfield/ FARP stuff would be cool to see and if you message me, I'd be happy to donate to the project. 1. Airfield Cones, boundary markers, runway markers (Circular and Rectangular) 2. Dirt runway strip (idk how this would work unless its a completely flat surface but it'd be cool to have a way to actually place a visible dirt runway on the map. 3. The big tent hangars from like Kandahar or Bagram (if you've seen them) 4. Some working lights with triggers (think like peaceable runway edge lights that you can trigger to come on when the aircraft is in range) Just some thoughts of mine. Cheers!

  38. Considering I initiated the thread (with blessing and to have it pinned) to be the core F-4E discussion on liveries, it is a relevant point that the thread is not for B, C, D, J, N, S, K etc. jets. Up front it was said export USAF F-4E and the export Es, to include the F. Of course some G photos have been posted or asked about but the G isn't being done on the core side, plus they share the same schemes as Es but with different squadron/wing markings (and of course the external antenna differences). The purpose of *this thread* was to collect reference photos, squadrons, dates, photos of pilots/helmets, serial numbers, and names to both build core liveries to include with the module (which we continue to do), but also for those that want to do skins once the template is released. While we've already got some stuff identified for core/release skins, it's going to be that much harder now to go back through and build some ideas for other squadrons that could be done to match the earlier and later block Es, as well as good export candidates. Please do create an "Every other Phantom that's not an E/F Livery and skin idea" thread, it's a good ways off but maybe that will help keep this one focused on what it was originally focused on.

  39. I know for release that they are working on the pilot model you mentioned. That they also are working on full manual. They promised campaign on caucuses as well with module for free. They have also promised to allow both map sizes to work for all ED maps. I reported SPO-10 innacuracies a while ago, and the feedback seemed to be that it would be looked at. I really hope that gets improved. In addition there is still some desync between cockpit seats, I hope that is added. And a few more keybinds such as the Lcntrl + T for gunner to bind axis. I can’t think of much else that wouldn’t add any new features outside of the original release scope

  42. In DCS, a HUD is not necessary to be effective if you know your aircraft. In BFM (If your module is well designed) you will know what state your aircraft is in with visual and audio cues put in to offset the lack of haptic feedback. If you are constantly looking forward to check your altitude, attitude, airspeed and lift vector then you are fighting yourself as much as you are fighting the enemy. In BFM if you lose sight then you will lose the fight. The Heatblur F-14 is a great example as its HUD is not a primary flight instrument. It will buck, shake and wobble visually and the sounds of the airflow and rattling in the cockpit plus knowing that the lift vector will always be directly out of the top of the aircraft tells me the same thing a HUD would with the added benefit of not having to take my eyes off the bandit. The HUD will only become useful in the last seconds before the kill... same as a gunsight. For BVR all of the instruments can be viewed with a good cockpit scan which should be done even with a HUD. For air to ground, having CCIP and CCRP functions with release cues are handy, but again not necessary. Having flown the DCS F-5E a lot in the past (because it was the closest thing I could get to an F-4 at the time) I got good at manual depression bombing... to the point that I could kill moving MBT's with Mk-82's consistently. That kind of skill is honed over time with practice and is perishable. Having a HUD is easy mode for air to ground and is where that instrument shines. It makes a poor pilot seem mediocre and a mediocre pilot seem good. The F-4 spent the vast majority of its service life and made its reputation without a HUD. That, and the fact that all of the HUD modified versions are small in number, from differing countries, vastly different from each other in both form and function and the difficulties of finding required information/SME's combines to make them less desirable for a module maker in DCS. It seems to me that, simply to cater to the HUD cripples or a minority of nationalistic sentiments, the juice isn't worth the squeeze. As for the game modification people I'm sure they will jury rig something up.
