  2. Radiocheck... Hi fighters! For a long time we did not get in touch, but all this time the work did not stop. Improving, optimizing, adding, introducing something new - everything we worked on was connected with these words. Today we will show new night lighting and some hangars. The update includes many minor improvements - we made sure that the map is relevant and fresh. So what's most interesting: New lighting technology added. Added right-hand traffic in Cyprus. Map description updated. Added kneeboard (yeah, this fix has long been waiting in the wings) Mission generator updated. Added helicopter landing sites on GUI map. Optimized trees in forest. Simplified trees collisions. Optimized and improved building models. Added objects at road and railroad crossings. Two types of gas stations have been added. Two types of road-side cafes added. Improved cars. Added right-hand drive vehicles. Improved city and field assets. Improved road and railroad assemblies.

  3. First and foremost, I would like to address the point where you mention that "Slew mode" only becomes active when the TD box is designated. In fact, this is a contradiction. SLAVE means that the sensor, in this case, the MAV seeker line of sight, is forced to follow another sensor, in this case, it is the TGP or the TD box that is Sensor of Interest (SOI) and provides a System Point of Interest (SPI). in Short: Sensor management is based on a single line-of-sight concept where all sensors are slaved to a common aimpoint, referred to as the System Point-of-Interest (SPI). Therefore, we should use DMS aft to make the MAV seeker the SOI and then manually move the MAV-seeker-LOS. In this case, it is no longer in SLAVE because we detach the MAV-seeker-LOS from SLAVE by slewing it through movement. However, in one of the videos provided here, the Missile-LOS-Circle does not appear. Let's move on to point 2. Slave mode and slewing are not mutually exclusive. The MAV seeker LOS can be in a Slave mode to the TD box but must slew with every movement of the TD box to maintain this state. As mentioned before, SLAVE means that one sensor is bound to another and tries to follow it. In our case, the Maverick seeker LOS is in slave mode by using the HMCS, which is SOI and provides the TD-Box/SPI, and therefore tries to follow the TD-Box/SPI. However, for the MAV seeker LOS to follow, it must move, and movement essentially involves slewing. Therefore, every time the MAV seeker LOS moves, a LOS Circle should appear, and once it reaches the TD-box-LOS and stops slewing, the seeker-LOS-Circle should disappear, which does not happen in the provided example. In this example, with the help of the workaround (enter and leave dogfight mode), we can observe a part of the correct behavior. The movement with the head/HMCS is faster than the MAV seeker head can slew. By slewing alone, the seeker LOS Circle should appear. Only when it reaches the TD box LOS and stops slewing should the seeker LOS disappear, which doesn't happen in the example. LOS.webm An excerpt from the ED F16 manual (pages 400/402): These 2 examples clearly explain that even when the TGP is the SOI, the term "slewing" is used to describe the movement of the MAV LOS. Furthermore, there are publicly available documents that provide further evidence that equates MAV LOS movement with slewing. From the explanation in the documents, "seeker line-of-sight appears when the AGM-65 seeker is in Slew or Track," a LOS Circle should appear with every movement, which is equivalent to slewing. Finally, it should be noted that this logic supports the pilots, especially when using HMCS. They need to know when the MAV seeker LOS matches the TD box; otherwise, it can lead to input errors.

  4. Gents, good evening, I’ve seen many checklists for the Eagle and some very nice and with different styles, but, as usual, I made a Quick Checklist for the F-15E (already on Vs 1.1), but included a very short one for the WSO (specially for the Single Crew ops) with day and night ops options. It is available on the F-15E Quick CheckList User Files Download page. Any feedback is welcome. I hope you like it. All the best, Sydy

  5. thanks to all for the feedback. I'm motivated to finish up the RQ-4/MQ-4C for a public release soon. I still have some coding to do on the flight model and some texture clean-up but I will attempt to get out to my beta-tester asap.

  6. Yep, it will be implemented as the Shahed 136 Loitering Munition. It's been designated Geran-2 in Russia. So it'll be assigned to both Iran and Russia.

  7. It’s easy to focus on the negatives especially when we post online but it’s important to recognize the positives too; and I just wanted to make a quick post to say whoever was the voice actor for my guy Petro deserves a solid pat on the back. I think we’re lucky to have English voiceovers at all for Petrovich and the devs could’ve easily just left us with Russian VO and subtitles. The fact that we have English voiceovers for Petro that are actually good is an awesome thing and it improves my experience as a solo player significantly. He sounds genuinely excited when he calls out “Yeah! Good effects on target!” and genuinely panicked when he spots an incoming missile, but is calmer about AAA fire, etc. As far as these things go I think the actor really nailed it. The English version of Petro is better than George in the Apache as a “character” IMO which is sorta funny when you think about it. Anyway, that’s all I’ve really got! Personally I wouldn’t mind if he had the occasional one-liner or something too, but I understand that might not be to everyone’s tastes

  9. You can't really compare the Mudhen and the Tomcat for two big reasons. One, the Mudhen is less than a month into early access. Assume many things aren't square. And two, they're really doing different jobs. The Hen is designed to lift crazy amounts of attack munitions, loiter, and defend itself. The Tomcat was a Fighter interceptor that had strike capabilities. And sure near the end the D was doing similar work to the Strike Eagle, but only as a means of filling in the hole left by the A-6 while the Super Hornet was being developed. The Mud Hen is also using decades later technology that was built specifically for it. In a lot of ways it makes sense the Hornet Drivers are enamored with the Strike Eagle. The Strike Eagle does better what the Hornet does, Ground attack with self defense in one package. It just can't fly off a boat.

  10. Jester will basically be the same guy, as we mentioned before - recording him anew for the F-4 would easily slap 2 years time on the development, and unfortunately is not doable. He will eventually become more and more tailored towards the F-4, and Jester 2.0 will bring new additions and features, but in principle he will be the same guy, consisting of - mostly - the same voice lines. Maybe at some point down the line we will be able to provide an option for call frequency, etc - but atm that is not planned. Thank you for your kind understanding.

  12. Attached is my recommendation for ED, as well as some of my excel sheets. I've put a lot into these sheets, so if anyone has any questions about the math please ask. The main equation I think ED should use is the SNR equation. Its in both docs. My PPT explains the benefits of using it. I think ED should use Phase 2 to implement Pd detection (it also effects azimuth/bar settings like they previously mentioned, but not directly). I think ED should hold off on look-down and altitude loss until Phase 3. As usual, everything contained within is open-source / non-ITAR / never been classified at any level, ever. Its all just physics and theory from reputable sources. Its mostly equations derived from: Intro to air (George Stimson; all 3 editions) Air and Spaceborne Radar Systems Radar Handbook V2 I'm recommending resolution cells of: MPRF Range: 150m Doppler: 10 Knots HPRF Range: 4000m Doppler: 3 Knots Be applied to all radars, when their true values are unknown. These values are generic and typical values one would see from a Pulse Doppler AA Radar. The point isn't to have a specific radars real values. The purpose is to: Show that these radars do not measure targets with perfect accuracy That MPRF and HPRF have pros and cons to resolution That targets within a res cell (must be within all 3 domains at same time; Beamwidth, Range AND Doppler) merge into 'one' large target/RCS. EDIT: Fixed Gain sheet in excel. It was missing the formulas. Beamscanner's Pd Detection recommendation.pptx Beamscanners Basic Radar Equations v1.2.xlsx

  13. Radio 1 can work under emergency gen power, but is disabled with the JFS running. Unless information as far as DCS is concerned, just gee-wiz info IRL, would not be common to contact tower before starting anyway. That's just a weird DCS implementation of comms IMO.

  14. Another massive job today was the left hand side forward windscreen quarter panel surround. This area on the aircraft is extremely corroded and damaged, with all the fixing screws either frozen in, or their anchor nuts corroded off the frames. The result was four hours of solid cold chisel work to break up the frame sections and to free them from the aircraft. Plenty of ACF50 has been applied throughout to help loosen up nuts, bolts and screws. In addition has been some liberal use of the Koken impact driver!

  16. You assume everyone wants to use the AI. In my group, we follow realistic procedures, but we never contact the AI in the process. Most of the time, we have a human LSO and/or Marshal, on different frequencies. The last thing I want to experience is my hook not catching, or getting WO lights or a message, because I didn't contact the AI and flew in a way it recognized. The way people behave around the boat should be up to the server's moderators to enforce.

  18. The manual is quite specific and states that the HUD Pitch reference and the Spherical indicator (in normal mode) display the same pitch value. If you delve into the manual you will find a series of diagrams that show how this is arranged. Even though the radar Datum and the Gyro ref datum differ in their depression from the FRL the output to the Gunsight is corrected and delivered to the sight by the Roll/Pitch Multipler box (R/P OM). So the pitch attitude displayed on the Spherical indicator and the sight are in agreement. This from the publicly available manuals for the F1K50ED. So the assumption is the F1 in game is the same.

  22. CURRENT VERSION: 2024-04-26b DOWNLOAD LINK: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3331710/ 10 PERCENT TRUE: https://www.10percenttrue.com/ Welcome to Inherent Resolve, a DCS F-15E Strike Eagle Mission designed by Sedlo for the 10 Percent True Podcast. This is an Close Air Support Mission set on the Syria Map and can be played single-player or multi-crew. See Read_Me file in the included ,zip for more information. There are two versions of this mission inside the zip file. One is a Cold Start and the other an Air Start. The Air Start version puts you at the refueling track, full of gas and ready to take on any tasking you receive. It is recommended to fly the Cold Start Version first though, as you will receive more information about the mission. NOTE: If you are playing multicrew, it must be a locally hosted multiplayer session. Due to the complex triggers and scripts in the mission you cannot use the Dedicated Server. This mission is designed for players who are proficient in the DCS F-15E module and its weapons systems. Examples of challenges you may face include: • Basic aircraft handling, such as take offs and landings • Use of the various radio and navigation systems. • Air to Air Refueling. • Dynamic re-tasking in a fast-paced environment. • Use of the targeting pod and employment of weapons systems. (It is essential that you read and understand the included mission briefing documents AND the Read_Me file included in the .zip) In addition, familiarity with US military terms and abbreviations is helpful to understand what is going on in the flight. A glossary of useful terms is available at the end of Steve Davies’ excellent book Be Afraid of the Dark, which you can find in your DCS World ClosedBeta\Mods\aircraft\F-15E\Doc folder. NOTE: You MUST own RAZBAM’s F-15E Strike Eagle module and you MUST own UGRA MEDIA’s Syria Terrain in order to play this mission! ************* INSTALLATION: Unzip the contents of the download to your folder at Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Missions ************* MISSION OBJECTIVES Today’s mission (XR-352-P) has three main objectives: • Provide On Call CAS support in the southern Section of the AO from 06:30z to 09:00z. • Train with 93rd ARW out of Fairchild AFB, newly arrived in theatre. • Familiarization with Local area and AO procedures ************* WEATHER AND NOTAMS OVERVIEW A weakening high-pressure system overhead the southern AO will slowly give way to a warm front approaching from the Mediterranean. 23. Image from DCS: Spitfire - Beware! Beware! Campaign by Reflected Simulations We are holding a B-17G Livery Contest in order to expand our livery offering with the DCS: WWII Asset Pack. Using the official template found here please submit your creation and we will choose the top ten liveries to be integrated into the DCS: WWII Asset Pack. Here are some of the requirements and details: The livery must be created using this template. The livery must be based on historical liveries in use for the B-17G in the timeline of 1943-45. The livery must be associated with one of the countries the B-17G was used in, USAAF, RAF, etc. If you do a specific livery with nose art and aircraft name, please also include a generic version with no nose art, aircraft name and bort numbers. (Why? This will give users more options in missions for both SP and MP) So each entry should have 2 versions. Here are instructions for saving textures with MIP levels using NVIDIA Texture Tools for Adobe Photoshop. After submitting your file to User Files, please post here with a screenshot and link to your file from the ED user files. The contest will run until the 30th August 2023. The top five winners will receive a free copy of the DCS: World War II Assets Pack or a module of their choice. The top ten will have their liveries added to DCS. The top winner (first place based on voting) will also receive two additional modules of their choice. Good luck! (Choice of module must be modules by Eagle Dynamics and must be currently released; Module selection must be made 30 days from notification of winning)

  24. Yeah, the key concept here was „move your head“. I don’t believe that there was a „one position fits all“ for the real pilots. But those are just assumptions.

I'll have to check into this deeper when I'm at my desktop, as I'd have to look at the codepath to see what is after the ED_ Server Scan and before the build scan. I'd recommend wiping the app settings and starting over %APPDATA%/Local/Skate Zilla Simulations/

  29. you can always upgrade your pc, any recent second hand motherboard+ram+processor would do, no need for the expense of a whole brand new pc. For example look for a B550 motherboard with any Amd Ryzen processor, they shouldnt be too costly.

  32. Several hours of time spent in the cockpit today, removing the instrument panel supports and frame for repair and refurbishment. Time was also spent removing old electrical harnesses, hydraulic and pneumatic plumbing. Over the next month our team aims to have the cockpit completely stripped and back to a bare shell for corrosion cleanup, repair, priming and repainting. Once the structure has been cleaned up we will begin refitting the cockpit for the simulator. The instrument panel support and frame were removed from the cockpit so that they could be repaired and repainted. Unfortunately, someone has previously tried to pull the panel from the aircraft, bending and twisting the frames. Some light panel beating got everything back into general shape.

  33. I think we have been down that road before. Yes, real-world pilots do know most of their checklists by heart. They still wouldn't dream of ever starting up their aircraft without a checklist in hand or on-screen (in dual cockpits usually one calling out the item, the other repeating and affirming). How on earth do you do a pre-flight by memory? You look at NOTAMs and METAR/weather, assemble, file and verify flight plans during pre-flight, perhaps do your W&B. All that can't be done from memory. Someone must have pulled your leg on this one. Oh absolutely it does. That is your assertion, and has been your assertion for some time. While there may be some correlation between reckless behavior on an airfield and procedural immaturity, that is far from causation. I know enough people who can cold-start their aircraft and then gleefully ram you just for the sake of it, and I know many people who can't cold-start their current aircraft, yet are some of the most considerate and observant people I know. I fully agree with @Exorcet: how someone starts their plane doesn't change how the behave. There will always be people who have a regrettably callous attitude towards other players. Not being able to cold-start an aircraft is not one way to identify them.

  37. There's always something amiss with DCS. Be it stutter, login problems, artifacts, flickering graphics, missing bomb precicion etc.. or crazy bad load/startup times. This one error is one of the worst and I don't even consider starting DCS based on an impulse, for example to learn air to air in my newly purchased F-15. Because it takes forever to start. I've been near ditching the entire concept due to time wasted many times already. But I have put to much "terms and conditions of EULA" money in it. Plus hardware. I've been told to "please be patient" to many times. So I have to appeal to ED; Please be vigilant, and try to consider customers point of view, and fix or give info. I have no clue; will this take weeks, months, or, as in some occations, years? Are you even on it? "Reported" This is the most frustrating concept I've ever encountered, although it is my favourite one too. My time off from work is precious. I want to dedicate some of it to DCS, according to what I paid for. I bought a dedicated PC for this concept only, with the spec to handle it. But atm: No joy. In all fairness: Theres been weeks on end where I've enjoyed the work you put in to such measure, I've actually exclaimed sounds of joy. My girl say she heard me sing.

  38. She's a beaut to land, you can do a greaser so smooth that it's like a cat pissing on silk. Loving the F-15E.

  41. I have started multiple projects based on requests in this thread, but most haven't held my interest long enough to progress very far. However, this one *might* make a release. I make no promises - it is a lot of time & effort to make one of these mods and I admit my motivation is dwindling. Most of the subject matter that I focus on is very esoteric. This means that I struggle to justify the amount of work to publicly release a mod for a few community downloads. So, that said, let me know if there is continued interest in the Global Hawk / Triton and if there are any specific liveries desired.

  42. A grownup fighter pilot? Hey, hey, we're doing a realistic simulation here, no tradeoffs for gameplay's sake.
