  1. Hello all, Just wanted to bring attention to the latest version of this Mod, v1.2, released just a few days ago, you can get it here: https://github.com/BAAS-Dynamic/DCS-SK60-Mod/releases it looks really nice, wish there were a way to have it spawn with the ladder and chocks already in place. 3. Cool. I have the battery life-time up to over 18 hours. It’s likely to last longer but for sure that’s plenty! I haven’t been able to get the device to read the battery voltage despite going by the book on this. There’s a few discussions on the web that indicate that seeed have used the wrong pin to read the voltage of the battery. So the I currently can’t send the predicted battery status indication over Bluetooth. I’ve modified the design to use a 5-way hat switch and created a cookie hat for it. Next I’m going to try to create a cover for the board which for me won’t be easy as I’ve only just started to learn 3D CAD modelling.

  4. Try to appreciate that development is challenging, and it does take a lot of time. Often it is small teams of very passionate devs working on projects for years, be encouraging and supportive. They are making every effort to bring new aircraft to DCS. thank you

  5. Yes, yes and yes. It takes a while since I'm a one-man-band, but I still think I'm getting stuff out pretty quickly. I've added 17 new assets this year alone, and I have a total of 173 assets released and maintained.

  7. Hello, everyone here is talking about the pilot legend Robin Old, but I want to introduce you to an Iranian pilot who, unfortunately, many people do not know him, Colonel Mahmoud Eskandari, I want to tell you some of his feats in The Iran- Iraq war Sep 1980 , the Iraqi army built a bridge over the Arvand river so that it could be crossed and captured the city of Khorramshahr and the city of Abadan and its huge oil refinery. The problem of recapturing these cities for the Iranians was this bridge that no commando and no pilot could blow it up, but the pilot colonel Eskandari was able to The explosion of that bridge caused the city of Khorramshahr to be freed and 19,000 Iraqi prisoners were captured by Iran. In another incident, Colonel Eskandari and 7 other Phantoms crossed the common border of Turkey and Iraq with three aerial refuelings below 500 feet by 747 747 planes had secretly exited the international route at a very low altitude This clever plan made the Iraqis mistake the Iranian phantoms with Turkish planes And at the same time, for distraction, two F-5 attacked the Iraqi Kirkuk refinery so that the Iraqi radars would notice them and the Phantoms reached the H3 bases and destroyed dozens of planes. This is the longest and largest air attack by Phantoms in the world. In another mission, the Phantom was damaged in this operation and landed in Syria without any missiles or weapons, right in the middle of Iraq fly and come from Syria to Iran, and no MiG 23 and MiG 21 could defeat them. I hope my good friends here will search the internet about the attack on Air Base H3, unfortunately there are many pilots in the world who are great legends, but the advertisement is only for Robin Old as if the only legend and phantom pilot is Robin Old. While thanking ED and Heatblur , I hope this delay in the F-4 project will end as soon as possible, and also the map of the Persian Gulf will be more complete and larger, and the complete map of Iraq and Vietnam will be prepared sooner. I think we will have the most beautiful and exciting campaigns

  12. I'm not so interested in a preset animation, but being able to walk around the plane before start up would be useful, especially if external views are disabled in a server (check if F-5 airbrakes are fully stowed, etc).

  13. Hi, Yes it is planned, though it may not look like IRL since the drone will probably not hover over its target but act more like a standard bomber.

  14. I don't know why you want to drag VR into this. Turbulence is equally dull in 2D/pancake. What we have in DCS, i wouldn't even call turbulence: It feels more like small gusts...

  15. It gives me the creeps when I remember the nights when, as a kid, I heard them flying low over our place (I lived a bit east of the Nörvenich air base) in landing approach for hours, during exercises. I'll never forget the mournfull low-pitched howling of their engines. Near the Nörvenich air base there was the ruin of a sugar factory where one of them had punched a big gaping hole through the last wall standing. What a widow maker that F-104G was! Once a whole flight of them dived straight into the lignite strip mine nearby. We had a saying like "how do you get a Starfighter? Buy a little piece of land and wait!". Yet it seems the pilots loved them, so maybe I'll buy it...

  16. Thats not contempt. You would be hard pressed 10 years + ago to get any updates from ED with DCS world or anything else at that matter. With people like you lurking about, its a small wonder why they still do now. Nobody is out to please you, when they have a product to release they will release it. Go talk to the folks over at Polychop and ask about that Gaz and the Kiowa thats been in the works since 2012. M3 is a small team, and polychop even more so. When they are ready to release "anything" they will in due time and IMO not a moment sooner.

  18. Oh, ok. Yes, that must be it: the people making the thing you so wanted, are just wanting to piss you off and not get any accolades or money for their efforts. It's just about insulting you. Uh.... not sure how that makes any sense, but you keep it real bro! It couldn't possibly be any of the other reasons projects get stalled and delayed. I've no idea why it's taking so long. But past experience with combat flight sim industry information releases tells me it's downright amazing the number of things that can go wrong for dev teams in the past. Members get cancer. Members quit in order to try to save their disintegrating marriage. Members get promotions at work, and suddenly find they have much increased workload and responsibilities that just overwhelm them and stop their dev contributions cold. Internal members sabotage. Hard drives fail. Residence burns down or floods. A key member of the team gets hired by another team and leaves. The team gets a cease and desist order from the legal team of a rights holder, threatening to sue the team right out of existence. A bug in the programming just can't be fully resolved without breaking two more things. That problem might take 9 months to find a work around or solution. A disagreement in the team: absolute perfection above all else, while other team members have a clear and reasonable idea about "good enough, close enough to perfection". They run out of money to keep developing, and need to focus on feeding their families. Every single one of these situations is one that I read about from combat flight dev teams that shared their experiences, over the last two decades. These aren't hypothetical. I'm sure this is a labour of love for the team. And it's quite possible that maybe they took on more than they thought they were. Maybe it'd be better for devs to not even bother informing the public about new projects until they are released. That way you don't get upset. In this case, maybe "ignorance is bliss" might hold true. Not saying you are ignorant, just that maybe you don't have the patience to wait for projects that don't come fast and furiosa?

  19. Got the Pimax Crystal as my first VR headset. Wanted to try and get as close to the experience I have with a 4K OLED monitor and Tobii Eyetracker 5, and it is VERY close after a LOT of research and settings tweaking. (PC Specs in Signature) Hardest thing to get past was the ghosting/blurring of fast moving objects that go past. Took a lot of attempts, but now have fast moving objects visible and NOT ghosting. Using a SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro, originally put the earphones over the top of the VR headset. That didn't work so good, lol. Fell off during rapid head movements. Fits really well if the headphones are on FIRST, then put the VR headset over the top of that. Everything stays in place much better! First thing off, after getting the headset and to enable the Pimax eyetracking, needed to ensure that the Tobii Eyetracker apps and services were shut down. End in Task Manager: Tobii Game Hub Tobii Experience App Stop the Service: Tobii Eye Tracker Generic Service USB setup: Use the provided powered USB Hub that comes with the Pimax Crystal. Read that there were people having issues plugging the USB directly into their PCs. I haven't had any issues with using the Pimax USB Hub so far. Ensure you update the firmware before going too far!!! Major Updates with the release of Pimax Play 1.39.01 Updated 5/14/2025 With DLSS 4.0 out now (only on Nvidia Cards). It works MUCH better now and helps with FPS quite a lot. For DLSS 4.0 you will need. Download the latest DLSS DLL from https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-dlss-dll/ Copy the nvngx_dlss.dll to your <Drive>:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin and <Drive>:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin-mt Keep in mind that every time DCS updates it will put back a older DLL, you will need to re-copy the DLSS 4.0 dll after a DCS update. Set the Nvidia Global Profile to K Download DLSSTweaks from https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/550 Extract to a folder Run DLSSTweaksConfig.exe Under NvGlobalProfileSettings Set GlobalForcePreset to = K Save and close. Again, like the DLL and DCS, a Nvidia Driver update can reset the Global Profile off of K. So re-run DLSSTweaks and make sure it's on K after a Nvidia Driver update. Pimax Device Settings: I'm running 90Hz. Seem to be able to keep it steady in flight, but will drop into the 70s when close to large cities. Using Manual Ipd Adjustment now. Seem to get best results personally with around 66 mm after measuring with the PD Meter phone app. If you have https://github.com/mbucchia/Quad-Views-Foveated/releases Mbccia's QuadViews installed, uncheck the Pimax OpenXR QuadViews Depending on how much VRAM your Graphics card has, try increasing the Render Quality. Going higher makes the picture MUCH clearer as your increasing the headset resolution. With a RTX 4090 I can run at 2.0 but the FPS is only in the 40s. Going above 1.0 you had better have 8GB+ of VRAM. Uncheck the Pimax OpenXR Quadviews AND Pimax Central Priority Rendering. You want to ensure that Mbccia's QuadView is used that you installed above. Use the Native Render Quality of High. Let Quad Views Companion do the up sampling to 125% below. Companion Apps Settings: Remove/Uninstall: OpenXR ToolKit Keep QuadViews Installed!!!! With DLSS 4, you can raise Foveate Resolution to 125%. Tried going higher, but didn't really see a difference above 125. BE SURE YOU UNCHECK Turbo Mode!! Crystal Super users noticed it created issues, and actually benefits OG Crystal having it turned off. I increase transition thickness to take out the sharp edge on the boxes. Blends a lot better. DCS World Settings: With the new built in QuadViews in Pimax able to get 90 FPS. FPS still drop close to the ground into the 70s but generally having great performance. Updated 5/15/2025 As Above, added DLSS 4.0. Set it to Balanced or Quality. Try both as FPS can vary between the two, but Quality WILL look better if you can keep a steady FPS. Sharpening to 0. It kills FPS and doesn't help the image. LOD Switch Factor up to 2. This helps identification on distant objects and doesn't really impact FPS very much. SSAO = I use high as I like the additional lighting features. Didn't seem to impact FPS too much, but if you want more FPS, turn it off. SSLR = Definitely turn this OFF. Kills FPS when there's many objects and I really couldn't see a graphical improvement with it on. If you have fast SSD drives lower the Preload Radius, it'll help the game load faster and you aren't loading objects far away. SSD will load them in when you get close, might be minor stutter but it's barely noticeable. System Settings: 5/18 * Drop Gamma down to 1.8. 2.5 was looking too washed out for me so tried 1.8. Looks WAY more realistic. GamePlay Settings: For Pimax headsets, you'll want to use 2 pixel and NOT Auto. Auto spotting dots do not seem to do anything from my experience. 2 Pixel in Quad Views seems to be noticeable, but not overbearing. VR Settings: Changed Pixel Density a bit, reduce back to 1.0 from 1.3. 1.3 was giving around 45-55 FPS, going back to 1.0 made it up to 60-90 FPS. Pixel Density is a MAJOR FPS killer. Don't think it's worth increasing. Check the box for: Use QuadView* Track the Eyes Final Thoughts: Been mostly playing on the 4YA WW2 Overload Multiplayer server and spotting had always been a pain. I'd really recommend going into the DCS Controls for UI Layer and map the VR Zoom Spyglass to a button. Makes life MUCH easier and more enjoyable. Can ID planes and avoid TKs with it. The cockpits and terrain are amazing looking in VR. I do notice the foveated rendering and eyetracking 'ghost box' occasionally, but it's not immersion breaking. VRs depth of field makes up for a bit of the 'blur' you get coming from 2D. At some point would like to see someone make a 'larger' view area so it's not like wearing scuba googles, but for now really impressed with the Pimax Crystal. Did take a lot of tweaking though to get where I wanted it to be though. Tried VR years ago (like 2010s) and wasn't impressed at all. It's come a long way, but still has a ways to go. Having large screen monitors with 3D depth of field and headtracking would still be my ideal, but for now really enjoying the Pimax Crystal.

  21. The version of the map we have now has tons of post-invasion allied airfields all over Normandy. How difficult would it be to provide a selectable map layer that simply removes all the airfields that the allies built, so you can get an authentic pre-invasion airfield distribution?

  25. TBH, if this was entirely optional and supported in VR, I'd love this as well. I feel the same, even though I don't need a shutdown of the plane at all. Simply being able to exit the plane (or chopper!) in its current state, even if we could only stand in one spot - silly as that may seem, but that would scratch an itch I have.

  30. More testing: If I have a group of 3 client Tomcats and 6 or fewer open spawn points, only 2 of the client Tomcat slots are usable. It seems that in order to avoid this, you need greater than twice as many available spawn points as there are Tomcat slots. CORRECTION: Even with only two Tomcats and 7 open spawn points, only one Tomcat slot is usable. The other one, and it's totally random whether it's the #1 or #2 slot, gets delayed to start. THIS IS GAMEBREAKING FOR MULTIPLAYER. Round 2: 9!!!! open spawns and yet I'm only able to slot into a single Tomcat! This is getting rediculous.

  31. I've just found this the bad way as well... Back should not kick you out of the current seat. It is a serious UX problem. I clicked the Choose Slot accidentally instead of Adjust Controls - and as I had the mouse in my hand already, I naturally clicked Back. If I press the Escape key, no problem. Why is Back doing something different than Escape? It may make sense before you choose any slot, but not when you are already in one. There should be a clear cancel button (call it back or not) and another one clearly labelled such as Leave slot or Choose Coalition, anything that sounds "dangerous" enough - perhaps even with a confirmation to get out of the seat (but that is not such a big deal if the label and function are clear). Sad end to my evening, next time I'll try to be more careful. But UI should not be misleading, especially when better alternatives are quite obvious.

  32. I findi I have a problem flying VR and using the mouse to activate the AI menu for the F-14, F-15, AH-64, Petrovitch. It would be nice if I could speak to the AI and select the menu options, it would make flying solo much easier.

  33. No period.. Turbulences in DCS are just like a very small area and altitude like 600m that's about it.. in RL when you fly through mountains.. valleys etc you really feel them even to a much high altitude until you are high enough for smoother.. Many pilots are avoiding areas of fear or uncomfortable .. DCS alas feel dull. has nothing todo with aircraft performances but the weather atmospheric that is almost inexistent .. alas .. if they work on it it would be the great ! but not now. But it is true that in DCS those external reactions are disconnected on VR.. felp more visually on 2D and it need to be addressed more emergently than a missiles reaction at 500 miles away.

  35. When a third party or we at ED have news to share we will share it. It can not be stated enough, creating modules is very challenging, stay optimistic, be supportive of the things you want to see in DCS that have been announced. If you do not like the long wait, apologies but there is no escaping it sometimes. If anyone thinks that they can create modules quicker and have a team with a module idea feel free to contact us, we are always looking for new partners. thanks

  37. This was indeed a remarkable air strike and is described in detail here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H-3_airstrike Especially the air refueling at extreme low level flight is astounding. I'm looking forward to the Phantom and the Iraq map to be able to re-create this strike in DCS.

  38. I have the feeling that some people fail to differentiate between a multi-million game developement company like EA (or even ED for that matter) and a small indi-developer that may consist of 3-5 people working part time next to their main bread-winning job. I wonder how so much entitlement generally works out in life.

  40. Good Morning/Afternoon Everyone, Thanks, Tripod. I think I will start creating more of those rust buckets as we used to call those old rusty ships. I didn’t understand how some were still floating but what I learned. It was more about whether they could go from point A to B than the rust. As long as it floats most of the ship operators didn’t care about the preservation of the ship. OrdinaryPilot, it's funny you ask. I have an LCM-8 built from scratch. It should be done in a month. So standby for that mod. Hello Dresoccer4, that is a nice warship. I can create it if you’re willing to donate. I will PM you the link to the mod. I don’t like posting 3d model links on the Forum. Thanks, Marroux, for providing the files for the Mercy Class. This is the first I’ve heard of it. Hopefully, that resolved your problem Turbine205. -- I am finishing up testing on the Hamina Class Missile Boat. She is ready for battle. I will not be creating Liveries for her. You all are more than welcome to create liveries for her. Stay tuned for her release soon. I'm starting to like the Small Patrol Craft. Many more of them to come because we don't have many small coastal patrol boats in DCS. The Hamina-class missile boat is a class of fast attack craft of the Finnish Navy. They are classified as "missile fast attack craft" or ohjusvene, literally "missile boat" in Finnish. The Hamina FACs are based at Upinniemi, and form the 7th Surface Warfare Squadron, part of the Finnish Coastal Fleet, together with the minelayers MLC Hämeenmaa, Porkkala, and Pyhäranta. She is armed with 1x - Bofors 57 mm/70 SAK Mk3, 2x - 12.7 NSV Machine guns, 8x- Umkhonto-IR Sams and 4x - RBS-15 Mk2 (SSM) Anti-Ship Missiles. Afterward, I will release the Rusty old container ship. I planned to release an Iranian Alvand Class Frigate along with her but I still have work to do on the Alvand class. Below is a story behind the IRIS Sahand Alvand Class Frigate. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IRIS_Sahand_(1969). As far as I know, we don't have any Iranian Warships in DCS. We do have the FACs created by CH. Although I may not be posting a lot I'm always in the background working on something. Sometimes I work on too much at once but I'm always doing something. It's meditating!! Stay Tuned for more AI DCS Ship Mods!! WIP!!!
