  1. Vietnam War Vessels 0.6.0 is now available! This release is the result of collaborative efforts from Hawkeye60, seabat, Beldin, Stratos, itsdotbmp, and Violent Nomad in development, with Whiplash and SideKick65 contributing new mission editor screenshots. Special thanks to our testers James J. Jackson, Zabbie, and Slapshot for their valuable input. The update introduces the AI A-1H Skyraider, a versatile aircraft known for its role in the Vietnam War, equipped with 15 pylons for diverse mission capabilities. Additionally, the F-8 Crusader has been refined for smoother catapult alignment, along with updates to taxi and take-off paths for the CVA-31 Bon Homme Richard. There are three zips on the download page https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv/releases TeTeT.VietnamWarVessels.0.6.0.zip - this zip contains everything, it's a one stop shop for the mod TeTeT.VietnamWarVessels.base.0.6.0.zip - only contains the basic livery, much smaller install size TeTeT.VietnamWarVessels.liveries.0.6.0.zip - contains the extra liveries and has a huge disk foot print

  8. I'm sorry that you've had such a bad experience with the PCL. The right lens in my situation was not seated correctly either, but i was able to get this resolved. A real shame that yours appears to be out of alignment when seated - as you're right - in this instance there's not much you're going to be able to do. The lenses also had distortions on them (replacement lenses corrected this for me). Regarding performance - I had bad 'out of the box' performance issues too. Quadview's completely changed my Pimax experience from being awful to incredible. Pimax's own software didn't optimize nearly as good as Quadviews for that, so if your friend hasn't installed and configured Quadviews, I highly recommend that he gives that a shot. As someone who came from a narrow FoV headset (HP Reverb), the FoV wasn't a factor for me, although I can only imagine what wide FOW would be like and how much more immersive it must make things. My experience with the PCL has left me satisfied with the product - but cautious about the build quality, etc. I was considering upgrading to the Super when it came out - but I'm going to hold off for now as I believe Pimax has had QC issues, and I want to see proof of concept with a release of a product with these resolved first before I consider committing significant extra cash into a VR headset. I really do hope that they nail it though - Pimax are filling a void in a market that's desperately needed to be filled for a while.

  12. The above screenshot is a teaser (taken from the F-4E release trailer) about what's to come when Heatblur's character customisation will be released. We don't have it yet, but we will have it at some point since it's one of the features of the F-4E. I for one am going to make use of it (I know I said earlier in this thread I don't really care that much, but I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth )

  13. It's not just power lines, the remotest abandoned cabin should also be marked as a structure. These maps in my old MAC days were always under plexiglass on the flight planning table or on a rack at ops for use before you hit your route. Only the Navigator might actually pull one out during the flight, that is if a navigator was actually mission required and seated on board. More a route planning tool than anything, once your up you rely on the five sets Mk1 eyeballs, the map just gives you an advanced heads up before you ever lift wheels on what's out there to watch out for.

  14. Power lines are supposed to be on every detailed map. Theory and reality coincide most of the time, but sometimes they do not, particularly when infrastructure has recently been added or removed. There are ways to mitigate it, but they don't always catch everything. Power lines are particularly insidious because while the pylons are plenty visible (and in fact, great landmarks to navigate by, if not using GPS), the wires themselves are not. This is a good reason not to get too low over roads, too, because power lines often follow them.

  18. Hi Rudel_ch! This was referred to in the original post, inclusivity was never the issue, for me it was all about / immersion / realism, as for my female friend's original comment, she was simply stating a fact, that apart from bitchin' betty, everything in DCS was male. Still not sure how it relates to the given context?

  24. Sorry for the late ping but I finally managed to try it out myself. I can force RWY 31 to be active by giving it the proper wind, like 310/10 (meteo) for example. So there is absolutely no need for tailwind and I suspect you just didn't set the wind speed strong enough. DCS is behaving weird at lower wind speeds. With this wind, RWY 31 is active. However, if I tune to the ILS with 108.9, I do get the identifier but no indications. ILS 26 works though. So I guess you did indeed find a bug.

  28. Quite simply based on the log file...your machine is really under-spec'd for this and is crashing with out of memory errors. The F-4 requires a bit of grunt. From the DCS log analyzer: Your current specs: CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz [1x L3 caches] Cores / Threads: 6/12 RAM: 16260 MB Pagefile: 16834 MB Preload Radius: 60000 GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti VRAM: 5966 MB Driver: 565.90 Errors: Your GPU ran out of VRAM Reduce Terrain Textures and Shadows. Doublecheck your pagefile. Your System ran out of Memory Increase RAM or pagefile. Advice: Upgrade your RAM to 32 GB for complex multiplayer missions. Change your pagefile to at least 24576 MB (initial size). Tuning Tips: If you have FPS issues, try turning off VSYNC in graphics settings. Turn off Terrain Object Shadows. Turn off SSLR. Set Textures to Medium. Set Shadows to Low. Turn down Anisotropic Filtering. Disable civil traffic. Set Water to Low. Decrease Terrain Textures. Set Preload Radius to max. 30000. For the page file, create a custom pagefile with both Inital and Max values set to 32768, (this must be on your fastest SSD), click Set, Apply, and restart your PC. Make sure to remove any other pagefiles.

  30. While I fully get (and used to want) to see progress video's, etc - I eventually found that they created more disappointment in the end. Extended release dates, etc. I liked how PC did a teaser "2 weekstm" out of the blue, and then proceeded to release it in 2 weeks. That stood out for me as the better way to go about doing these things. A bit of community interaction definitely doesn't hurt - but I'm kinda over the 'hype' of promising, showing cool stuff, and then a seemingly never ending wait for it to arrive. I've kinda adjusted my expectations myself now anyway - but PC's launch still impressed me with the way they handled it.

  31. Right now in DCS, several of the FOBS in the Khandahar area have a blob of housing popped right over top their position. But you can see on the satellite imagery underneath there are HESCO barriers. I hope they at least fix this or leave these areas open for the playerbase to populate properly. OR go the Syria route and populate the map with the FOBs as part of the map. When you have a map that has had real world conflict this seems to make the most sense to me. People want to conduct missions out of real historical bases.

  34. Ok, this is my entry. It's a perfect time because the conflicts in Afghanistan, both US and Soviet, are my favorite topic Travel back to the times of the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan 1979-89. This Mi-24P of OSAP repaint based on the real repaints used in this conflict on the Mi-24P, type - "desert clover" used during military operations in Afghanistan. The skin is based on the real schemes used on the Mi-24P in Afghanistan, the so-called "Afghan clover pattern". This camo was created at that time in two variants, greenish (as a background) and sand-colored (as a background). The repaint also has changed interior elements (pilot, gunner, etc.), includes enhanced weathering too and can be used with any side number (with weathering numbers too). I'm adding a few more screenshots than planned. The skin is a part of my "Szatan Arba" campaign dedicated for Mi-24P. Link HERE. Skin is already for download: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3335143/. Personally I don't work in Photo Shop only in Corel, that's why I have files but CPT. I'll export them to PSD and give links later (although it will be very big content). Btw. if this skin were to be published, I can adjust it to DCS/ED requirements (in such a case it would probably be necessary to remove the "wolf and hare" symbol and the pictures from the kneeboard, in the free version these things can be still). Callsign: YoYo DCS username: YoYo E-mail address: PM me Files: DDS files (eventually CPT files)

  36. With how the WWII AI behaves after the last big update, Reflected Campaigns which are amazing , have become boring and easy, same with single missions, quick missions, you never get challenged, AI is easy to shoot down, you never get shot down, super easy to disengage AI hardly ever shoots down other AI, many times they just fly in circles in a disorganized way and do nothing. Hope this gets fixed at least to how it was before the last big patch, single player has become very boring and MP has bad performance since about 4 months. I know is not on purpose , but updates sometimes are breaking stuff ruining the game.

  39. Hey OP, the Crystal Light is just a different headset than the 8KX. The FOV is smaller but the clarity so much higher, thanks to the aspheric (rather than fresnel) lenses. Of course you already know this. Right now it's not possible with the current technology to create a headset that is both lightweight, has high-res, high refresh rate, and has ultra-wide FOV and ultra-high resolution. So choices still need to be made. Many people like the Crystal and Crystal Light for flight sims because the clarity allows you to read buttons and dials very clearly, and the lack of screendoor effect adds to the immersion. Of course it's all a balance and choice. Calvin already mentioned he'll check the status of your support ticket. The lens issue is definitely not as intended and odd as we have way stricter quality checks than before. I hope we can still keep you as a Pimax-fan, maybe if not for the Crystal Light, then for future headsets (who will have wider FOV and high clarity as technology progresses). Thank you for your write-out and support, going back to the original Kickstarter.

  40. I could not agree more. That is why I have been so disappointed. I am not giving up on them per say, but it will be a while before I go back. A lot of stories like yours are surfacing with the Light. I hope they are reading all this and taking notes. Time will tell. I was hoping PIMAX would create so competition with US VR distributors, but it has not really taken off like I hoped it would. Closest thing I am looking at if not another PIMAX down the road is HTC Vive stuff. Just hoping the 8K stays in the game another few years.

  41. If you have Quad-Views-Foveated installed you now need to enable the Quad Views option in the DCS VR settings, it looks like it’s off in your screenshots. Can you also attach a DCS log file from when you are experiencing this issue.

  42. Update patch is new (at least for me), but I believe it's a very good thing to do. Relatively low risk as it will likely fix more than break. No sarcasm there, I realize the risk in any patch, but mildly breaking one campaign (and only in likely patched mission anyway), is virtually no risk at all. I always believed campaign fixes should have been done like this. Great idea, kudos!

  43. It kind of makes sense, but the degree of error (243ft observed in one mission) is throwing me off when the -34 states horizontal CEP of way, way less than that on mil and civ GPS services used by the jet's systems. Digging through the same -34 (p. 1-285) I found some info on the Kalman filter that makes it make more sense: The fixes do update INS and add to the Kalman filter's data of system accuracy, but deltas are applied only if they exceed a threshold of 300ft. All of my deltas so far have been less than 300ft, so the deltas don't get appllied. Also it seems that not all HUD symbology is updated, sometimes only the STPT steering cue gets updated. Apparently. EDIT: @Lord Vader are we still sure there's no issues with the nav fixes, because even with the GPS switch off the nav fixes are not taking. Here's a slightly long track (relevant portion maybe 30 minutes in; 45nm from STPT 1) on Kola where I did a TGP fix and then two OFLY fixes. The initial TGP fix on STPT 1 appeared to work, as CZ snapped me back to the fixed position, however when I flew over it the HUD diamond was still in the old position. I retook an OFLY fix on STPT 1 and noted about a 0.12~0.13nm delta. STPT 2 should have taken that same delta but the diamond was still displaced, so I did an OFLY fix on that one too, again with a delta of about 0.12-0.13nm as if the STPT 1 fix didn't update the INS at all. The way it currently seems to work is that I have to perform a fix on every single STPT, then fly the route over again from the beginning. I could be doing something wrong during my alignment, but I would think the fixes would still take even if that were the case...the alignment in the attached track was 9.1/10.

  44. Main issue seems to be where the missiles in DCS impact the jet vs. where they impact in real life, as opposed to an issue with the damage model itself. There have been a number of real-world ejections from Vipers hit by SA-2, -3, and -6; one instance in which the airframe was cut in half.

  45. Yeah, waiting for announced modules in DCS is like staring at a ticking clock. Time goes by faster by doing something interesting like @Rudel_chw suggested. There is no piece of software that thought me more patience than DCS. On the other hand, if I was a creator of DCS modules I would be concerned about my priduct if a community patiently waits for it without asking for news. So I think you did the right thing, @RodentMaster, fwiw.

  46. I disagree, being inclusive wont attract more females to this sim, cause if they are not interested in military aircraft sim and gaming you really have a tough job. Imagine there is some forum mostly used by female members of our society with topics like fashion or fingernails (just mentioning stuff on top of my head, hope no one gets offended) and they decide to be more inclusive to male members of our society, you think that would interest me for example? I can tell you right now it wont, and they can be as inclusive as they want I'm not gonna discuss anything in that forum. People are trying too hard to be as politically correct as they can that they don't see the big picture, they are throwing them selves over their heads to be politically correct... happens in all aspects of the society and it is not something good cause it usually neglects whats important just to to stand out. I really don't see the point of more females in the sim, I don't mind them here off course but I don't see the point if they are not interested. In this sim I want people of any gender and race that are interested in military simulation, if that means 99% male Asians, or 99% female Mexicans I really don't see a problem there, I'm interested in the sim and that's enough for me.
