Please find this white paper describing the new advances we are making in Volumetric Weather, as well the video below highlighting what it looks like for fog and dust. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/upload/medialibrary/4be/i4yclzs5ict5bkd1pe4bxrz0zqz1dffz/Volumetric_Weather_White_Paper.pdf Thanks! Well, what can I say. For 7000 man-hours invested (that is three people working full time for more than a year) - this is all but underwhelming. New model, new textures and some bug fixes - it would have been reasonable to expect more. $10 is not a large price to pay anyway, and I'm pretty sure that a lot of people will get it (myself included). But the again, either the 7K man-hours figure is completely off the charts, or someone needs to work somewhat more efficiently6 points

This is how the Mirage F1M HUD looks like, it's made by Sextant Avionique who is using the Smart HUD5 points

M3's monopoly on the Mig-21 sucks. ED should put M3 on notice; either support the product by keeping it up to date or let another dev redo it properly.4 points

I've been trying out various SEAD DEAD missions and tactics recently just out of curiosity. The f16 has always been my go-to and kind of a favourite airframe. It's certainly very potent a2g in general but very effective DEAD. However I'm forcing myself to learn the f18 again having never really seriously considered it in the same way for reliable DEAD. Much to my surprise now an few missions in, I'm starting to think I prefer it! A simple mission of an attack on an sa10 site in northern Kola is the scenario I'm using. I've found a reliable way of approaching with a pair of f18 one armed with 6x TALD and 4xJDAM, the other maxed out with JDAM. A low level ingress using terrain, popping up around 15nm to launch off the TALD, then descend and defend, mask and run in low level for a pop up with JDAMs, quickly targeting them with the ATFLIR, hitting the search radar and tracking radar. Once these are taken out let the wingman mop up with JDAM. A lot of fun and a good challenge and really reminded me just how effective the f18 is.3 points

Hi guys, I found this video, and it's really good and very complete!3 points

While not everyone may recognize the efforts, we are taking concrete steps to address the issues raised. We are committed to improving our communication, customer service, and logistics to complement our excellent hardware. Actions truly speak louder than words. Of course, we have a detailed spreadsheet categorizing all the issues raised in the video comments. This will help us prioritize and address these concerns.3 points

1. We acknowledge that quality control has been a significant concern for our customers. We're actively working to address this issue, from sourcing high-quality materials to refining our manufacturing processes, optimizing factory conditions and more. 2. We recently held a meeting to discuss warranty policies and are currently working on a revised return, refund, and warranty policy. We anticipate sharing more details on this soon. I will discuss this topic with the team in our next meeting. That’s why I’m here to provide additional support to our user. While it might not be visible to others, I’ve done my best to assist, and I believe this contributes positively to our company’s reputation.3 points

I asked questions along these lines in the other thread. It went in aswered. However, since then, I've been doing some digging (reddit/discord) and some of the confusion seems to stem from the use of the word "membership" where it behaves more along the lines of financing. There is also speculation whether this is a preemptive approach to tariffs, a lower entry price followed by a "subscription" to fully pay off the headset. Either way, this bring about the question of "always on" connection being required to use the device even after it has been paid off or if bought outright. What happens if/when Pimax verification server is unreachable. As far as I'm aware, this hasn't been answered yet; at least not where i could find it.3 points

I completely agree with you. If I spend that much money, I want to know that I'm going to get something reliable, that lasts too, but more importantly - a product that is backed up by the company. And yes - different people can have different experiences. But to be fair, even though my initial experience was rough - they did come to the table. They provided replacement lenses quickly, and I have to give them credit for that. They also have multiple ways of contact for support outside of their ticketing system too, which deserves some credit. Since we live in a fallen world,, we're not going to have a 100% success rate, regardless of how good QC and builds are. That's where warranty and after sales support trumps even quality in my opinion. (Quality comes a close 2nd, but even with the best of the best, you can always luck out and be one of the few - and you want to know that you're going to be looked after and not dismissed in those instances). That's where video's like this one are far more superior than all the other reviews out there. I want to know the experience people have when things go wrong. Not so much what went wrong (although that's still of interest) - but how things were handled. A single video of "I had a problem, but company came through promptly and resolved the issue" is worth more than 100 "Great product - love it. Wow! Look how cool this is" review video's, because it shows you how much the company really cares or not.3 points

Almost same experience here. Received headset. Problems with lenses. (First, not connected/mounted correctly, and then one of them was distorted). Contacted Pimax via their help ticket, didn't get a response to start with. Contacted my local supplier who I purchased it off, and that gave it a push. Then Calvin here chimed in and said "Any issues - let me know", so I had external support apart from the ticketing which I was grateful for. Since then, and after getting quadviews working, I've had a great experience. There's a few things in software like offline mode not being respected, but nothing that's breaking the system. Current conclusions are: Quality Control needs a complete overhaul. (Not just a tweak - something is drastically wrong there). It really is a lotto as to whether you have a smooth experience out of the box. If you have issues, don't rely on their help support ticketing system. Submit the support, but be ready to follow it up on discord, in here, or somewhere else publicly. At present while unfortunate, it seems that often that can be what's needed to get the problem initially recognised. Just also grateful that there are public PR people who we can reach out to outside of their ticketing system like Calvin for this exact same reason. My experience with HP was a different story with no one to reach out to. Beggers can't be choosers. While there's a lot of improvement that can be done, Pimax seems to be out on it's own when it comes to providing a HP Reverb 2 replacement/upgrade. I don't trust the quality/build to currently last. I hope it does, but I recognise that Pimax only has 1 year warranty. (The fact that their 1 year extended warranty is 'out of stock' isn't too comforting either. ( https://pimax.com/products/pimax-crystal-1-year-extended-warranty ) I was going to upgrade to the super. But I can't bring myself to invest that much money in a headset where the company hasn't proven themselves yet - especially when it could be a brick after 1 year and that's it. The video seemed well grounded and balanced. Gave what he went through. Didn't say 'never again', or 'don't buy' - but rather just to be aware of the issues that you could face and if so what to likely expect. As for the weight of the cable - I'm grateful for this. I'm hoping it speaks of quality. I do however have a little hook up high that the cable loops over, so that it's holding most of the weight and not my head. I love my headset. Very grateful for it, and don't have any regrets - but I also acknowledge that experience varies more per individual than on other headsets.3 points

We are near the end of the year, currently we know that MiG-29A FF from "DCS 2024 and beyond" will not appear this year, I estimate that it will be February/March 2025, not earlier, but I'm still curious how work is going on Hellcat + carrier + Marianas WWII. All this should appear at once, but so far there is no official information. I would gladly hug Hellcat this year!3 points

Thanks, Guys, That's good information. That will be an easy adjustment to the VLS launcher cells. It's weird to see a Sea Sparrow and an RIM launcher aft on the ship so close to each other on deck. I'm sure it was more of a test to see how the RIM performs.3 points

Personally, I have to say yes the new INS is really really cool! but the fact that you can no longer use PRE planned jdam, or only to a very limited extent, because the JDAM GPS is still wip, really dampens the joy.3 points

Remember how the Quest requires you to have a Meta/Facebook account to use your Quest VR? It looks like Pimax is trying to turn their headsets into hardware as a service and their drivers as software as a service. If you wish to purchase a Pimax VR headset you currently need to put down a huge down payment and then pay a membership fee. I have been personally been waiting for around a year for the Pimax Chrystal Super to come out. AS per Pimax's Webstore "Payment Option 1: Pay membership fees at once with 12% discount $999 upfront + $32.99 membership fee * 24 mo. * 88% = $1,696 USD in total Payment Option 2: Pay membership fees over 24 month $999 upfront + $32.99 membership fee * 24 mo. = $1,791 USD in total *You'll start paying the monthly membership fees in app 10 days after activating your Crystal Super. " "What happens if I choose the monthly plan and miss a payment? You can pay Prime at once and you never have this situation occur. But yes, if you choose for monthly payments, and miss a payment, then the Pimax Play software will stop functioning, until you complete the payment." "After you’ve completed the 2 year subscription, you can then use it for free as long as you like? Yes. After 24 months (or if you decide to pay off Prime in one go), the whole headset is yours and you'll never be required to pay for any subscription. The subscription is tied to your headset, so even if you sell it, the subscription won't reset." Pimax DOES NOT give the consumer the choice of buying the headset out right for a single payment. You have to put a down payment on it first, and either pay the full 2 year membership fee at once with a discount, or pay it out monthly for 24 months. And while Pimax claims its all yours free and clear after you pay it off, you are still required to maintain a membership and nothing is going to stop Pimax from deciding to move features behind a paywall at a later date with a "Membership Fee". Keep in mind Pimax is using the words "membership fees" Not "Payments" or 'Payment plan" it is a "Membership Fee". This comes with 2 consequences. First is the fact You have to maintain a membership with pimax wither or not you are paying for it. Secondly they can turn off your headset anytime they want to. The other issue is going to be with buying a used Pimax. Not much is going to stop a current owner from selling their pimax with part of the membership still outstanding meaning people are probably going to be purchasing used Pimax headsets on ebay that are bricked by Pimax due to the original owner not paying off the Membership fee. Ya I'm sorry, Pimax can take their membership and Shove it! If I can't buy it outright ... I'm not buying it. Sadly I was actually looking forward to the Super2 points

3 years later, i downloaded the trial, but except for the cockpit modelling it looks and 'flies' like cardboard. So i guess one of those many many items unfinished in DCS. No buy for me alas.2 points

Despite being in Spanish, there are English subtitles. The most interesting part to me was the comparison to the Rhino (is this the first person to have both?), but even more that he's talked to Winwing and they feel that their upcoming offering will bury the competition.2 points

@BIGNEWY would be cool, if we could get some more detailed info on the planned features before the (steam) autumn sale ends. i've got buddies who are mildly interested in getting the f-5 on sale and then upgrade, but i currently don't feel like recommending it, before we know more about the scope of the avionics rework. if the 7000 man hours are a realistic estimate, i would expect a bit more than just "fixes" and cosmetics, so some more info (potentially a trailer, or Wags video?) would be much appreciated.2 points

@Rakesh01 is the latest contributor. Temu is probably something I would have considered using in the future for some things, but after seeing spam, I'll never use them. No credible company should ever need to resort to spam, and those that do smell of scam than anything else.2 points

Build quality and quality control, coupled with warranty/support are my biggest concerns atm. I may be an "old man yelling at clouds", but to me, an $800+ consumer product should "feel" like a premium product; both through build quality, quality control and the manufacturers support of their product. And while many users will say they are happy with the product and the level of support they received, they could have just as easily been in the shoes of someone who had fight and claw their way to a resolution. To those folks, the only sample-size that matters is their own. So far I've seen enough to give me pause about buying into the Pimax ecosystem. We will see how things shake out when my G2 is no longer an option. On paper, Pimax looks to be a capable product.2 points

The Cloverleaf is my failing point. I never seem to get it right. The Immelmann turn, I find it a little easier if I descend a little to pick up a bit of speed before attempting the climb. I don’t get any criticism from the PI there.2 points

We decided to add fog to the jungle "old stuff before the new patch coming up." This just intensified the fire fights. Makes the enemy harder to spot and really makes it feel like a humid jungle. Did an A-4 video along with the one below so you can see what it looks like from above. Kandy was popping smoke for me and Zipper. This was me down in the jungle with him looking for targets. Zipper went down and we had our first midair collision in the Cayuse. Good times!2 points

The overhaul of the F-5 is great news. 10 bucks is a fair price - don't understand why quite some people complain about this. It's two cups of coffee for a nice update to a great module. Aim-9 Limas would be appreciated, of course, as well as a refueling probe and maybe some weapons used on export variants of the F-5.2 points

Well out of 31 built in the class only 6 reserved Tomahawk Armored Box Launchers (ABL), 24 ended up being upgraded with VLS, and 1 USS Harry W. Hill (DD-986) had its upgrades canceled, but still went ahead and removed its ASROC box launcher. The 6 with ABL kept them until the ships were taken out of service. This is not much of a list, but it gives you an idea of where to start. I could try to make a list for you, but it may take a day or two because I have some projects going on right now that are eating up my time. Or the link that @Citizen posted work to LoL.2 points

Hi Regarding Spanish Air Force Mirage F1M, I don't have any picture at hand right now, only a couple of tech drawings, but I think you won't be dissapointed It has a Sextant Avionique true modern HUD with several modes (NAV, AA, AG, PRG) and plenty of info: speed, altitude, flight path vector, heading, pitch ladder, bank angle, AOA, g, WP info (number, heading, distance, ETA, TTG...) plus all the weapons delivery info (bomb fall line, impact point, frag, TGT diamond..) for each mode CCIP/CCRP Regards2 points

Sigh, one more time: In the Apache, Marianas charts show on 5, 10, 15, 25, 50, 75 and 100 scale setting. In the Hornet, Marianas charts show only on 5 and 10 scale setting In the Apache, Channel charts show in 5, 10, 15, 25 and 50 scale setting In the Hornet, Channel charts show only on 5 setting. Not "some settings". One setting. Aircraft from other developers do not have this issue. Only aircraft developed by ED have issues with showing charts on maps created by... ED. That's hardly working as indented.2 points

So the Viper got a highly detailed, fully modelled INS coupled with a realistic simulation of GPS, when can we expect the same with hornet?1 point

When I need to repair my aircraft, I first had to shut down the engines and then wait 2-3 Minutes until the repair procedure begins - why? Is it a penalty for damaging the aircraft? It is faster for me, to leave the slot and start with a new plane / new slot. Also, would be great, if we could speed up refueling a bit.1 point

I can attest to the importance of a correctly set pagefile. I just purchased the Kola map and tried the Free Flight mission (this is in VR) and it crashed to desktop a few seconds of loading. Caucasus map loaded fine. Tried clean/repair, didn't help. Set preload to 60.000, no go. Then started reading this thread and figured I'd try it out. I have a five year old system with only 16GB of RAM and a Windows managed pagefile on my C-drive. I manually set the pagefile for static min/max 16384/16384 and rebooted. Look at that, worked perfectly, no more crashing and I could fly the entire mission without a hitch!1 point

Dear ED, I´d like to wish for a standardized advanced implementation and setup for Force Feedback joysticks/bases/rudders in the DCS special options menu for the aircraftas, because the FFB technology now is developed and offered on the flight-sim hardware market on a large scale. As the flight-sim hardware provider are currently reacting to the user demand and developing, respectively offering Force Feedback technology to their devices, it would be great, if Eagle Dynamics reacts to the hardware market and user demand likewise. Force Feedback is not only a gadget, but a technology, which advances the flight-sim to a level with more precision and accuracy in the experience and from my point of view, flight-simming is all about precision and accuracy to the real flight experience. Heatblur and Aerges as 3rd Party delevopers for DCS World already implemented Force Feedback to their modules in an enjoyable way for the users to take full advantage of the FFB technology. I wish every DCS aircraft could reach that level, those two 3rd party developers has reached in the use of FFB technology. Another reason is, that the hardware developers ( Brunner, Moza, WinWing? ) have all their own software and partly "interpretation" how FFB might be used for specific modules, but it is assumable, that the DCS module developer know better, at what point and strength the feedback forces on the stick and rudders should be applied in accordance to the real aircraft or helicopter, which is simulated, in order for us, the users, being able to just set the various hardware manufacturers software to ´direct input´ and rely on a proper force feedback implementation by Eagle Dynamics and their 3rd party developers. Would be great, if Force Feedback would get more prioritized attention by the developers to reach a standardized level of implementation in DCS World.1 point
