The HI-TCN Terminals for all US bases in the Europe, North Africa and Middle East from 1987 are here with me. Gonna take a while to get to scanning all of them in decent enough quality without destroying the booklet. @Volator This is already on your Discord, maybe you did not see it before. @MAESTR0 It's noticeable and highly appreciated that you listen to the community, thank you very much, also for creating this thread and asking! Things I think shouldn't be left missing in the scope/area of Phase 2: City of Oldenburg (home to the 11th Mechanized Infantry Division in the 1980s) south of the Jade Bay https://www.relikte.com/nds_heer/div11.htm Oldenburg airbase EDNO, home to JaboG 43 (flew Fiat G.91, Alpha Jet in the 1980s) https://www.mil-airfields.de/germany/oldenburg-airbase.html https://www.relikte.com/oldb_flgh/index.htm City of Wilhelmshaven and the very important German Navy base there, home to the German Navy fleet of destroyers and frigates (would make a nice base to fly to from Nordholz Navy airbase that you also planned for Phase 2) CRC Visselhövede (radar site to guide fighters) https://www.relikte.com/nds_radar/index.htm Itzehoe "Hungriger Wolf" Army airbase (home to German Army Aviation Regiment 6, flew the Huey and the Bo-105) https://www.mil-airfields.de/de/itzehoe-hungriger-wolf.htm Schleswig-Jagel Navy airbase EDCS, home to German Navy Wing 1 (flew F-104G Starfighter and Tornado) https://www.mil-airfields.de/de/schleswig-jagel.htm Eggebek Navy airbase EDCG, home to German Navy Wing 2 (flew F-104G Starfighter and Tornado) City of Kiel (important port and navy base) Kiel Navy airbase (home to German Navy Wing 5 (flew Westland Sea King) https://www.mil-airfields.de/germany/kiel-holtenau-airfield.html Basepohl GDR army airbase, home of KHG-5 equipped with Mi-24P and Mi-8TB https://www.mil-airfields.de/de/basepohl.htm ---EDIT--- I forgot Marxwalde/Neuhardenberg airbase, home of JG-8 (was equipped with MiG-21bis, so OUR MiG-21 in DCS) https://www.mil-airfields.de/de/neuhardenberg-marxwalde.htm Things I'd really like to see, but are not of such a high importance: Wilhelmshaven-Mariensiel airfield EDWI (in the area of German Navy base Wilhelmshaven, GAF Transalls often used it for practicing STOL and it's close to the approach sector of Wittmund and Jever airbases - we definitely need to talk about those when Phase 3 is due!!!) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JadeWeser_Airport Rotenburg-Wümme Army airbase EDCR (small army airbase with a flight of Alouette II) https://www.mil-airfields.de/germany/rotenburg-wuemme-airfield.html https://www.relikte.com/rotenburg/index.htm The West-German airbases also deserve a slight overhaul. The perimeter walls should be substituted for fences. I think you could also go a little bit easy on the objects standing around and slightly reduce the clutter. The way I remember a GAF airbase, it was always quite tidy. Also, you can remove all of the big, black light masts on the GAF and GAM bases. and then there is the thing with the ground textures. No sand on GAF and GAM bases please. Also no bushes or trees in the flightline areas!4 points

Just go and hire BD and Reflected to make training material for the free modules (modern and historical, respectively). Those two know how to make training fun. Couple that with a free or at least cheap FF jet trainer (for WWII, TF-51 would do) and the initial hurdles become much lower.3 points

We all know DCS has a huge learning curve and that is a challenge in itself, so its important to have engaging content as well as the learning aspect of DCS with training missions. Onboarding of new people to DCS is important, its something we have discussed a lot internally and have some plans for the future that will hopefully make the new user experience a more pleasant one. When we can share news about that we will. please feel free to add more ideas in this thread, we are always looking for new ideas. thanks3 points

Does look good in the golden hour . I can’t wait either. Looking every bit as good as anything we have. Better to me as it’s a mod from a small team and a real labour of love. Priceless. Looks like the postman chucked a letter in the tree, you’ll have to watch out for that . Keep on tinkeron.3 points

-------UPDATE 250609 With changes to the landing gear code, it created an opportunity to add that functionality to the Systems page. Added three landing gear indicators and adjusted the countermeasures location on the system page along with a system message that is the lowest priority message that will be displayed. It will be superseded by any other system message. Minor change to the check list page to indicate which list is being displayed, though they are both the same currently. Adjusted missile code for improved accuracy That is not accurate. Follow the directions on the first post or included with the archive. The new model has new details and corrections. I've not had any issues with it. And the LO drop tank was created by Spino and heavily modified by me. The vertices are most certainly welded along the centerline. It's not two separate halfs. The texture I used to create the tank was derived from the IRST pod, as was the pylon. That said, do whatever you want.3 points

I think you can broaden your mind if you allow for things to maybe be true even if you haven't seen something or deem it inconceivable. As I write this, more than 50'000 people are online in a combat flight sim (it's currently ranked at 15 in today's (Jun 10 2025) Steam daily online stats. There is lots of potential. It may not be your cup of tea, and please try to accept that this market does exist, even if you don't like it. Just imagine how great DCS could become if just 1 in every ten if those people would come online for DCS. They would need different content for sure. Better online support, the works. I just checked. there were <500 people online in DCS now. I think interest is there. DCS is potentially a great product. I'd be happy to create missions for the non-hardcore CFS crowd that currently flock to the Big One and crave for something more. Only 1 in 10. Sounds doable to me. But I need the tools, and something to work with.2 points

Because you want them separate, nozzle angle and throttle are two different controls. How would coupling them work, anyway? For VTOL, you want the throttle set fairly high, but nozzles full down. For a short landing, you need the nozzles angled, but a low-ish throttle. Not to mention VIFFing, which relies on independent nozzle control. Without a separate control, you wouldn't be able to control the jet properly. Also, remember that the Harrier family started out in late 60s. It has spiffy color MFDs, but it's not an FBW jet. Its HOTAS is rather more limited than in a Hornet, despite looking broadly similar. Trying to have a computer of the era control the nozzles likely wouldn't be very safe.2 points

Only a stupid question if it’s never asked . . . From a friend who flew the puffer - you set the angle for VTO, and when weight comes off the wheels, you use the puffer jets to fine tune your ascent. Transitioning to forward flight is just a case of reducing angle of thrust in step like fashion as speed increases. There are puffer jets in both wingtips, either side of the tail, and in the nose. https://www.centennialofflight.net/essay/Theories_of_Flight/control/TH28G9.htm2 points

Beneficial in what way? The title reads "beginner-friendly", the contents focus on WW II aircraft, which are decidedly not beginner friendly to fly. And that makes DCS more beginner-friendly because...? Also, keep in mind that in DCS, we look at geological timescales for new aircraft - "several" aircraft equates to 10 years+ Uh. Normandy and Channel are dead last when it comes to players, at least on servers. Last week-end I counted 3 players total for Normandy and Channel (ok, dead last is Falklands with 0, and 1 for Iraq. I consider both maps dead, along with "Halfghanistan"). So how is creating a worse version from one of the most unpopular maps (by server player count) going to make DCS more beginner-friendly? So those "several WWII aircraft" you talked about were full fi? ED wants to make money. Iconic planes make money: Hornet, Tomcat, Fat Amy. The others - not so much. Creating several warbirds in lo- and hi-fi? Unlikely to the extreme to become funded. And it's still a mystery how adding aircraft - any type - makes DCS more beginner friendly. Making DCS more beginner friendly IMHO would be things like A UX/UI that is usable Make it easy to view and get into your aircraft, and especially reduce the pain to configure your hardware for your aircraft Provide some decent tutorials Make it easy to create a quick engagement (the new QAG isn't there yet. Not by a long shot) Make it easy to create missions (Mission Editor really isn't there yet, not by a couple of light years) Make it easy to discover (find, download, manage/update, remove) new content, especially user-created content like missions, liveries, mods Much better improved multiplayer support: find who is online, join them, invite them etc, create groups, arrange meetings etc. There are tons of things to improve DCS's decidedly callous approach to welcoming new players. Adding new planes or maps seems not to be among them for me.2 points

That resolved the issue for me. Since I don't want to interfere with the original files, I personally recommend adding this entry to: C:\Users\xvy\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config go to autoexec.cfg (or create it), add this new line: bkg_load_signed_plugins = false2 points

I’d prefer if they get their latest one in a flyable state first (aka pedal trim options and more manageable cockpit textures). Also, the Mi-24 still doesn’t have a manual and didn’t get a Mini-Update post in years…2 points

I was working on some mods yesterday and in/out/in/out many times over the course of several hours. No issues. The fact that you don't even have to *think* about what's taking so long means it's not taking so long It's back to normal with normal being its behavior on 2.9.14. I'm glad to be back on the current version and regained access to the Germany map.1 point

Too bad none of those campaigns are MP enabled. I get why they aren't, but with braindead AI, it would be incredible to actually play with others to achieve the outlined goals in the story.1 point

Flying race quads in real life, I tried this mod today using my actual remote and I'm really impressed by the flight model. (especially since DCS was never built to simulate those kinds of flight physics) Sure for experienced flyers it might still feel a bit "floaty" and powered down, but considering how hard it is to learn the proper axis/throttle coordination with quadcopters and most DCS players will control this with their HOTAS setup I'd say you found a perfect compromise (also looked at the special options to maybe give it more kick, but didn't have more time to experiment with those settings yet). Overall very impressive pulling this off within DCS!1 point

Thanks for those references, I will change the landing gear height. I don't plan on changing the fuselage dimensions, it would require redoing a lot of animations and other stuff, and the difference is barely visible. This was meant as a simple modding project, not 1:1 version of Su-22 in dcs. If you don't like it's proportion and dimensions then wait for Snipers Su-221 point

I know it's a lot to ask. But the amount of information you can feed into the system is a lot more than currently used by fw assets. There needs to be a way to feed all that info to the aircraft besides fat fingering for the better part of 30min with the amount of entry errors to boot. data Comms VHF/UHF/FMx2/HF for every unit Waypoints/TGT/coordinating measures/Route's/Maps Laser codes Default modes for systems1 point

To be fair, 5 years ago, the idea that top end cards would still be bumbling around with only 6-8GB of VRAM today was absurd. But here we are. Progress stumbles barely on.1 point
