Flaming Cliffs 2024 Su-33 gains new Iraq instant action missions and HS campaign refinements. Afghanistan Development progress The Afghanistan map received extensive terrain mesh, normal maps, vegetation, ground texture, and other terrain improvements. In addition to Points of Interest (POI) areas around airfields and urban areas, the entire map has received a significant improvement in accuracy and realism, including from lower altitudes. An important addition has been the inclusion of Forward Operating Bases Clark, Gardez, Thunder, Tellier, Camp Dubs, and Camp Julien. Additionally, the Patrol bases of Khost and Deysie combat outposts have also been added. These are now highlighted on the Mission Editor and F10 Map View with green triangles. Other notable additions include the Mausoleum of Ahmad Shah Durrani, Kabul’s National Assembly, the Babur Garden, and the Kabul National Stadium. Many of the airbases also saw substantial improvement with more small and large object details, improved texture and lighting, and corrections to ramp and taxiway positions and AI logic. For a more detailed video report, please watch Matt “Wags” Wagner’s August 2025 Update video that discusses the update to the Afghanistan map and a dynamic campaign status report.

There's 8.5min of water injection. The 5min is the "manufacturer's suggested operating limits or void your warranty." It shouldn't be acting as a time bomb ticking away that your engine is going to blow up. You can push past 5mins and normally be just fine...or maybe you'll throw a rod or burn out a gasket. Then again, you might just get a small oil leak that your crew chief will hunt you down with a monkey wrench for later. There are SOME engines that had notorious problems with failing due to excessive heat (IE the Wright 3350 use on the B-29 had a tendency to catch on fire) but the R-2800 especially was noteworthy for its ROBUSTNESS. We've all seen this photo, I'm sure: This P-47 had a cylinder head shot out and still made it home despite losing much of its oil painting the fuselage black. I wish to god a better system could be found for handling engine temperature issues than "tick tick tick tick tick BOOM." It's been forty years, surely there must be SOME alternative by now.5 points

This was a fun WB to fly until this engine update dropped last night For the first time since I purchased the plane I found it a chore to fly and fight in especially since the AI are not having to use the same rules, it was way ,more fun before to use even if maybe not so realistic, but my question is why is the P47 engine so different as its the same engine the P&W R-2800 Wasp. I'm back to using the P47 again until the engine becomes more robust in use.4 points

Hey! Check my FAQ: Q3: Will the new core assets conflict with the Currenthill mod pack assets? A3: No. All new core assets have unique names and will therefore not conflict with the Currenthill mod pack assets.3 points

Hey! Thanks for the positive feedback on the new DCS core asset pack. I'm going to update all of the mod asset packs, to feature LODs and reduced texture sizes, to make the packages smaller and the assets less demanding in missions. I will also remove the duplicated assets that are now featured in core DCS. I'm also going to update all weapons to the latest standard. I started with this one as a template, since it only have one asset. Military Asset Pack Turkey 2.0.0 released! Changelog Version 2.0.0 Added LODs Changed textures to reduce size Added encyclopedia entry Changed folder structure Distribution model This Military Asset Pack is available in the following versions: The standard full download. Remove old asset pack version and unzip this in your Saved Games mods\tech folder. The incremental download which updates your full download and contains only the changed files. You apply it by overwriting your current installation.3 points

I know, this probably wont happen, but my 1st FF was the AV-8B back in 2018/19 i think. With all the pain we all had while EA, knowing Razbam in DCS is dead, i would like to suggest ED to make a AV-8B Harrier II PLUS instead of the F-35A. Not that i dont like the F-35A, but i want my 1st Love alive and updated. Please think about it.2 points

Thanks, that helps! I had been watching the cylinder head temps & not the oil temp. I still am surprised though that the cylinder temps fluctuate really rapidly, with what looks like over -cooling happening quickly, but I don't have a real Corsair in my garage to go test. I tried a takeoff with less manifold pressure & it went better too. It helps to have someone critique as I try to learn this. I still seem to tear off my hook many times when landing even when I remember to unlock the tailwheel.2 points

So found a couple things. The jitters and shaking that's when staying still, not tracking related, was from the Nvidia Driver 580.97 I believe. Rolled back Nvidia Driver to 580.88 and it's gone. Tracking lag, where it went very low fps and tracking isn't accurate, was from the 1.41.2 client. I'd installed it over the 1.40 client. Went back and removed Pimax in Add Remove Programs. Stopped the Tobii VR4PIMAXP3B Platform Runtime service and deleted all Pimax folders, even those under user/AppData. Rebooted and reinstalled the 1.41.2 Pimax Play. Then tracking was much better. For how long, don't know. Haven't been able to use it for more than a few hours so far. But it had been fine yesterday, seems to get worse over time.2 points

In this day and age since we have such advancements like ChatGPT and other AI systems, do you think we can implement a dynamic in game radio comm system? This thing can communicate with you via VOIP or even preselected commands from the radio menu somewhat similar to the Overlord AI we once had but much more realistic and dynamic. You can have them be on their appropriate frequencies and based on ground, tower, TRACON, AWACS, Range control or ARTCC. They can even create dynamic ATIS, AWOS functions based on the weather and conditions, have appropriate static sound effects and even regional accents based on which map it is, etc? Here's an example...2 points

I've been flying the Viggen for a while now and working my way through all the weapons. When trying to use the Sidewinder derived A2A missiles the seeker heads do not behave as expected, compared to the F-4E which worked flawlessly in the same mission file. The only heat source that I can get a proper tone lock from is (directly bore sighted towards) the sun. No adversary aircraft I tried will give a tone. The Missile Uncage button will not lock on a target either. The missiles sometimes track to the target from an exact bore sight. I'm flying a fully patched version 2.9.18.12899 MT. I suspect that this is a bug. I looked and could not find any way that the Viggen is misconfigured on my part.2 points

Thanks for looking. I'll pay more attention to detail and give it some more today. Update: 30 mins of Carrier circuits including bolters, without any engine probs. Get those flaps open boys. .. ..2 points

Are you able to link a credible source supporting this 20 metre lethal radius claim. Peak overpressure from a Mk82 blast is 117kPa 16m according to the GICHD document linked above, with overpressure decreasing to 34kPa at a distance of 31 metres. According to the CDC; 69kPa overpressure is enough to kill most people, with 34kPa is enough to universally injure people with widespread fatalities, and serious injuries at 21kPa. I feel like "serious injuries" to infantry in DCS should count as deaths, purely because they prevent the soldier from fighting in any capacity. This is not even factoring in fragmentation. It's not uncommon to see videos of several large pieces of shrapnel to travel over 75m even from just a 155mm artillery shell explosion. And those only have an explosive filling of ~15 pounds. Just imagine the amount of shrapnel, and the distance it will travel with the ~200 pounds of explosive filling in a Mk82.2 points

After your landing, your oil temperature was already red-lined. You need to open the oil cooler flaps. Cowl flaps and cylinder head temperatures are only part of the equation. When you took off after landing (still red-lined on oil temp), you pushed your throttle fully forward and got up to 57-58 inches MP. The engine knocking noise was clearly heard, which is the sound of mechanical damage occurring. Takeoffs from carrier are 54 inches maximum. I attached a screenshot from the Corsair POH's takeoff checklist. When you hear that knocking noise, pull your manifold pressure back a tad. Cheers! null2 points

Now that the Germany map is out, I think a lot of the planes, both AI and player based, especially eastern bloc should receive East German skins? An-26 Su-17 Mig-29G2 points

Hey guys, it’s been a while since I posted. I had to put my project on hold for a bit. Just busy with life! I’ve began reworking all my panels to be more dimensionally correct. I’ve also been scouring the interwebs trying to find the most accurate toggle switches I could find. The right side console panels are basically done. I also don’t have much to do on the left side to be done! I’ll post those soon! Everything will be backlit too this time! Ready to get back after it! Hope everyone is well!2 points

No, you don't need a 5090, that's simply not true, not at all! You'll need a 6090! But joke aside. A 4080 or 5070Ti is a good start to have more fun with a Crystal Super as with a Quest Pro.2 points

I think Heatblur should make a sticky on the top of the forum. Let us know that you are doing less frequent, bigger updates. It's making people panic. Not everyone uses discord.2 points

Vulkan API, if more than just a thin wrapper, and really implemented well could be a massive improvement in performance under certain scenarios. Particularly, for VR users, "rdr CPU" - which often spikes VERY high when a lot of objects come on screen. In the Vulkan implementation can get that under control it might half the rdr CPU demand. When you understand that app CPU + rdr CPU must be below the same MS frametime as GPU (so in 72hz native mode, app CPU + rdr CPU must remain below 13.3 or so) we can see just how important this is to ensure locked FPS in demanding single player campaigns or scripted missions when a lot of units come on screen. My understanding was that they have had vulkan API up and running for a while but it sounded like they wanted to push harder on the implementation to unlock more performance boost. Indeed, if Vulkan API can boost not only average FPS, but clear up rdr CPU bottlenecks, it could be a real game changer for many users - especially VR users. I really hope we will be hearing/seeing/experiencing more on this front in the not too distant future. It has been a very long time coming.2 points

Noticed the same thing today, also with the UH-1.1 point

If only every aircraft module would just spit out the reason for engine or system failure into the log file… if only. Maybe M3 can start the trend? Hint hint. Whatever condition is satisfied in the code that makes the engine quit, just export that to the log file alongside the line of code that tells the engine to quit.1 point

You are correct. We just meant that the missions are very dynamic and exciting.1 point
