cannot reproduce and missing track file F _16 auto pilot has stopped working
Furiz replied to baza's topic in Bugs and Problems
@davidrbarnette alright, as I said it was pressed somehow, I don't own winwing stick so I couldn't know in which way it was pressed, anyways glad we came up with solution -

There is your answer then, in normal circumstance if you press the paddle switch you will disengage the autopilot, so if you don't have it pressed and autopilot is not working then it must have inverted somehow. Since when you press it AP works... should be other way around. -

@davidrbarnette It is working fine for me, please check if you have Autopilot Disconnect Switch set to DISC it should be set to NORM. That is the usual suspect. -
He is gonna get banned, so I choose that, I want as much realism as I can get.
-
Ok but then proposed option would prevent you or me or anyone else to take friendly fire, which is not realistic. Since we are trying to simulate real world as close as we can we should be able to take friendly fire. But then again server already have banning systems up and running.
-
It's not about my server, I don't even have a server, its about making the game look like arcade which we don't want.
-
I really don't like the idea of having something like returned fire in DCS, friendly fire happens in real life so I like it in DCS as well. It is more realistic. MP servers however do kick and ban for such events, they have automated bot that does that, so friendly fire on those servers happens very very rarely, offenders either learn from the mistake and start double checking or they get banned for long periods of time. Either way it works, so I see no real benefit from reflected damage, it is only gonna make DCS more arcade.

That has nothing to do with DCS, how will that help DCS? also you should read the rules https://forum.dcs.world/guidelines/
-
I don't blame them for that, its like in the real thing, not their fault. But this is one specific issue for most F-16 users in DCS, they have really hard time with precision flying cause of that built in dead zone. So it would be great if normal PC stick users could have the option to remove the dead zone, you can't expect everyone to buy 500€ base + stick (no idea about price) to be able to have proper experience when it can be simulated just as well for normal PC stick users. Look at the Apache for example, they have 3 different trimmer modes for normal stick and for FFB, why can't we have something like that, in regards to that dead zone, for Viper as well. AAR is doable with PC stick off course but with much pain and false difficulty, which makes this simulation not realistic if you use normal PC stick.

Make sure that trim autopilot disconnect switch is set to NORM not DISC cause that will disable autopilot. -
How would AG, 2 seat platform sales make sense of single seat AA only platform, its just not logical.
-
Oh wow you completely don't know what I'm talking about or you didn't bother to read. I don't have any deadzones on pitch and roll. You can see the deadzone in this video and if you press RCTRL + Enter you can se it too as I already said. https://forum.dcs.world/uploads/monthly_2023_04/F-16C.mp4.258983731612b59189381abcc43ba549.mp4

You are correct, I used wrong term. Anyways my point stands, I think F-16 flight controls are better suited for FSSB sticks than for regular PC sticks. I can't argue about skills and practice done to achieve something. I did AAR with regular PC stick after lots of practice and formation flying, and I'm not some demi-god or whatever, just a normal person, so AAR in F-16 is doable. Is it harder than it should be?, that's the real question, by the statements of pilots that have done it in real life and in DCS they say it is harder in DCS. We can't feel G forces or the aircraft movement and ED can't simulate that so that is one limitation we have to adjust for. But that built-in input deazone is something that is not helping normal stick users (I can't speak for FSSB, since I don't have it), and it would be easier if we could have option to have that removed.
-
The problem with F-16 is that it has some built in deadzone that we cant remove, you can see that with RCtrl + Enter, when that input window appears, while the stick moves and input registers the aircraft doesn't respond until more stick is applied. That is creating confusion with users since most of us use PC sticks and Viper simulation is really made for force feedback (which is correct) and that makes it even harder to AAR in the F-16. I think ED should adjust that and consider the fact that most of us fly with PC sticks not with force feedback sticks, maybe they can create some input options like Apache has.

correct as-is Fpm is no longer there and few other things
Furiz replied to razorseal's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Yes, because INS alignment tells the plane where it is in time and space, so it knows what to show you on the HUD and where to place it, among other things. That's why it doesn't show the FPM for example cause it doesn't know if you are moving or not. -
Grid zone is quite large, it basically covers whole map. For example Caucasus is 36T, Sinai 36R, Syria has 2 since Cyprus is in one and Syria in other. My point is those zones are quite large and if you know where you are there is no need for JTAC to include it in 9-line. Don't know exact real world procedure tho.

@razorsealDo the INS alignment properly. If you don't do it, the plane has no idea where it is in time and space. -
It means the emitter stopped emitting or HTS doesn't receive emissions from the emitter but it still shows its estimated position.
-
Practice makes it better, simple as that, stop crying and practice. Yeah, because in real life you can actually feel that aircraft movement, in DCS we don't get that feeling, so it makes it harder simply by the fact that when you focus on those lights you can't notice your mowing up or down, left or right, but with practice you learn to notice that too, and in turn it becomes easier with practice. Formation flying is also good practice for AAR. Eventually we will get boom/basket psychics too;)

@WHOGX5 I heard on a podcast that HTS is really remarkable little contraption, starts at 52:43 in this podcast: But this is not evidence and SMEs seem to only know what we can provide documentation for.

Rules of getting FF Frogfoot are the same as FF Fulcrum or Flanker, all russian production so... don't see how froggy is possible and fulcrum is not.
-
I think they snap into place cause of wind flow, not cause of jet startup. But in general I agree.

I have the FC3 pack but in last 6 months I can say I flew only A10 for like 30 mins, I fly F-16, F-18 and Apache. Not rly interested in low fidelity modules.

Listening to this makes wanna fly it in DCS : Some interesting stuff in there.
