Hello after quite a long break. I've recently made some adjustments to some of the textures in the Caucasus map. Not sure if the project will evolve to a full package mod one day but if it will, I will surely let you guys know. For now, I'm just playing and testing different solutions using Taz's "Better Trees for Caucasus". Boy, they are better, indeed!6 points

Dear all, Much of the work is focused on fixing bugs and tuning systems to first have a solid foundation to work from. However, IAT/MTT are in active development as is initial FCR/RF Hellfire and LB Net. Given the complexity of such tasks, we have no date estimates at this time. Once IAT/MTT are available, we plan to offer the -64 in the free trial program. Outside of those systems, much work is ongoing: - Performance Level of Detail (LOD) models - New pilot models and animations (SP and MC) - Updating the PERF page (quite a deep rabbit hole) - Continued tuning of the FCS / yaw offset - Ability to change seats in MC (in internal testing) - New voice overs for flight members (2, 3, and 4) - Continued George AI refinements - Tuning TSE/LMC behavior There are of course other items in work, but these are the primary focus. Kind regards, Wags6 points

My money is on 2025... Along with the recently announced Kola map, that would make a nice 30th anniversary present (anyone else remember DID's EF2000?)4 points

There are 7. - Cold and dark start - Taxi / Take off - Landing - Parking / Shut down - Navigation - Ground attack with guns / rockets - Ground attack with bombs I'm sure more will be coming. What I'd also like to see eventually is voice overs (preferably not robo voices) like in the C-101. The C-101 training missions, IMO, are very well done so I'd like to see the Mirage ones done to that level.4 points

Hey, Ive noticed, that in all modules the plane keeps the current sticksetting even if you are blacked out. Instead the unconscious Pilot should relax the stick and not keep pulling, pushing etc. Its been like this forever and it would be a nice fix.3 points

I tried them both NXT and NXT EVO last night, the deadzone works properly. It's set by default to 3 because of the plastic gimbal, but if you manually set it to 0, then it's 0. We also have a good return policy, no questions asked, so it you'll decide at some point to buy any of our products and they don't work as expected you could return them with no worries.3 points

Please, please @NineLine and @BIGNEWY … a month has passed and the Mirage F1 files are still being lumped onto the "other" unit category, files like these https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3325557/ will be very hard to find in the future … can you please remind the Webadmin to add the Mirage F1 to the unit category of user file? Thanks3 points

When I read the title, I assumed, the topic would revolve more around things like exaggerated sounds to compensate for a lack of haptic feedback e.g. (I would totally support that!) Regarding the discussion about stretching the scope of the simulated aircraft to incorporate more or different weapon systems and such, I'm more on the "their product, their rules" and "love it or leave it" side. That's a bold claim... I certainly don't support that statement.3 points

@Spino thanks for covering the M-28 on your youtube channel @Neo47thanks for sharing the German liveries @crazyeddie thanks for sharing all the new liveries (E-7a and M-28). When I started modding, someone told me that "when crazyeddie approves of your mod, then you have truly achieved something" I feel honored to have a few of my creations now graced with your liveries3 points

You don't need to switch to BIDONS in order to use external tanks. Only use BIDONS if you aren't going to jettison the tanks once they're empty.3 points

Thread cleaned, please remember to treat everyone with respect. SOW users, please remember the server owner closed his server, we did not, it was the server owners choice. Enjoy the WW2 content we have, there is more to come, the asset pack is here to stay but is optional, we look forward to the future. This thread has ran its course. Thank you3 points

I realize the state of water is determined by other weather factors but it would be really great if there was a separate settings tab for changing the condition of the water so a player can create a rough or calm sea state without guessing on what weather conditions to input.2 points

I can fly it down without even knowing the numbers, doesn't prove anything. Yes you have provided a track file - and you had issues pointed out. And I would definitely consider a 10 knot discrepancy with constant AoA and wieght as too much. I could maybe live with a 2 knot difference. No, most of us are hung up on discrepancy in IAS-indicated AoA-lift equation in free air, with full flaps down. As the opening post clearly states anyway. No, it's just been mentioned as "by the way".2 points
-
IvanK never flew at a sustained 151knots in the whole track, he did a fairly good job at maintaining the 10deg AoA but if you look at his speed while doing so it was always over 151 knots, usuially around 155-159knots. Watch the track from Ripjawz where he does in fact fly the correct speed and glideslope for very extended periods of time and take note of the AoA meter.2 points

@Frederf I think this is what he means, that STP rectangle moves with the HTS created SPI. Noticed this a week ago too. second HAD designation on the SA6 emitter Caucasus map HTS - STP.trk2 points

Yet, we're getting the Juliet. Also, it's an airframe that was involved with other air arms around the world, too, not just American ones. By that logic, I could say it's "wrong" since it isn't the F-8E(FN) or F-8P. What if I *really* wanted the SHERLOC RWR? This is just the reality of DCS development; the best documentation about the nitty gritty may make the Juliet the most accessible one for development. When HB comes around to working on the Intruder, I'd want a SWIP A-6 with all of the neatest kit, but we take what we get.2 points

I think something like this should be doable. Starts close to Da Nang in the South, should have some major thai airfields for USAF action and covers the North entirely. New tech may be neccessary to make the jungle happen. EDIT: Maybe the map can be cut off in the west and instead extend slightly farther south to Chu Lai. We'd need SATS and MOREST for Chu Lai, which makes it interesting.2 points

@rwbishUP No, you need a FARP, because you won't have any comm to ask rearm/refuel without it (frequ & callsign are defined in FARP creation, that allows ATC and ground crew menus). Plus you need "comm" units, and "supply" units. (as described page 313 of DCS\Doc\DCS User Manual EN 2020.pdf)2 points

On the tools this evening drilling out the countersunk flush rivets on the main canopy side panels. The previous owner had dismantled the frame, but had not fully drilled out the original rivets, leaving a significant number of heads with 1/2 tails etc. An hour in the workshop had them all drilled out. Next step is to take the panels to the media blaster to have them taken back to clean bare metal, then to spend some time on them repairing the damaged sections with flush patches. The main canopy has clearly had a hard life since being removed from the aircraft it was once attached too. Cracks, dents, bends and power-saw cuts are all there - including a series of cracked and enlarged screw holes along the very bottom of the trim edge, which I can only imagine were possibly screws used to prevent the canopy from being opened on the aircraft it was once attached too. Not to worry, by the time I have applied the necessary repairs, it will all look flight ready! Key to these kinds of restorations, is to get all of your parts refurbished and ready before starting the assembly, otherwise you find yourself starting and stopping too much. Best to get everything together and refurbished, then focusing on a full assembly of everything.2 points

I wanted to come back and repost. I just found a German review of the Cm3 and the cabling looks pretty decent, not as good as VKB but strides above the old Virpil pictures of the stick. I did study the whole Noobifier teardown series, amongst others to decide to go with VKB. What set me over was the review of the NXT by some pilot they hired. While I like the TWCS I couldn't stand the TM1600 tick. The whole Space-Sim vibe of the palm rest vibe ruined it for me. It would make the stick go right no matter what. Just big enough to create momentum. The spring and cam calibration didn't help either. That was like driving a tank. Here's that German video I told you about: When they ask you to open the thing to adjust friction, you know they're confident. Yup, mine it's on its way. I figured as much. I've heard the VKB gunfighter is quite uncomfortable for desktop, whilst Virpil has both desktop and desk mounted version. I quite like the layout of the Russian stick as it has that F-18 vipe, plus the break handle. I'm not a fan of individual brakes on rudders, not even in a Cessna, except for the Christen Eagle II, is quite fun to Drift on that thing.2 points

regardless, you were over 151 knots for nearly the whole track, and not to mention on a rather high glideslope as well. at 2.5deg and 151knots you will be well over 10deg AoA2 points

I don't think there's much being done on the Huey anymore. The other issue (where the co-pilot takes over and steers straight) has been drifting to the right forever, and I don't think there's any intention to get this resolved either. I can't help but think that both of these could be related in some way but if the drift (which I thought would be as easy to fix as the slip indicator) isn't planned on being addressed - then this may follow the same. Maybe there's only so much resources they're willing to throw at older modules? I don't know. (Which is sad, because as far as enjoyment of simple flight goes - the Huey is my absolute fav aircraft)!2 points

@FlappieI had time to sit down and take another look. The issue is with a script hook. In particular one for OpenKneeboard. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3320771/ https://github.com/OpenKneeboard/OpenKneeboard Thank you so much for your time and helping me troubleshoot!2 points

I'm sorry FoxTwo but you couldn't possibly be more wrong about that. Wave height is NOT entirely determined by wind. Go spend some time at sea to figure that out for yourself!2 points

FYI No fighter pilot this side of the Korean War jettisoned droptanks when empty. They were jettisoned when attacked or if you HAD to get somewhere very fast. The F-15Cs in Desert Storm One did do this whenever they were running down MiGs, only because they were authorized. The Navy calls them external tanks- bring them back or have a very good reason they are gone.2 points

No problem @prccowboy! I love your mods, I just wish some of them were flyable. It would be cool to have something like the M-28 that we could actually fly (I get that a lot of the stuff you do is not stuff that most people would care about flying, like the E-7 and P-8, vid coming up on the latter by the way).2 points

All the switch does is alter the sequence of fuselage tank transfers to help with C of G control. It doesn't control external fuel transfer. From the Flight manual: "Two fuselage tank transfer sequences are possible. They enable variations of the aircraft center of gravity to be reduced according to the configuration (clean or with pylon tanks)" The Sequence Clean : 1,2,3,4,5 The numbers 3,5 refer to two sections in one physical tank structure in the Aft Lateral tanks. So if you have the switch in "Lisse" you first consume Fuel from all externals, then the fuel in in the internal wing tanks (1), then the Forward central tank (2), then 374l (3)from each Aft lateral tank (whose total vol is 560l), next you get the fuel from the Forward lateral tanks (4) and finally the last remaining 186l in the aft Lateral tank (5), and finally whats left in the Feeder tanks. The Squence "Bidons" : 1,3,2,5,4 Similar but as soon as the External tanks and internal wing tanks are empty you get 374l (3) from each Aft lateral tank. So the 585L in the Forward central tank (2) stays there a bit longer therfore affecting the C of G. All of this Fuel transfer artistry is controlled by Differences in pressurization and valves at different levels in the Feeder tanks . The external tanks are pressurized to 850-890Mb, with the wing and fuselage tanks at 440-480mb with the feeder tanks at 90-130mb. If you follow the sequence completely in game you will see that AERGES have done the fuel system in exquisite detail..2 points

Since Burble effect was introduced, I've disabled Wake turbulence, thus limiting the Burble effect (in my humble opinion with too high values). In this way, however, the aircraft on which I fly (FA-18) is no longer affected by the wake turbulence of other aircrafts. I think it is a good idea to add in Options> Gameplay (additional settings), Burble Effect ON / OFF (as it's already for Wake turbulence), so as to allow greater flexibility of choice. This request affects both FA-18 and SC, so I post it in both threads. The moderator will then eventually merge the threads. Thanks in adavance.2 points

Both effects serve the same purpose: to enhance realism with additional wind effects. I believe most people (seemingly including you) only complain because they (rightfully) think the burble is exaggerated. Not because they want one effect and don't want another. If I'm not mistaken, the "wake turbulence" checkbox was added mainly because disabling it can sometimes improve performance in multiplayer. Maybe ED should simply fix the burble rather than adding the second checkbox?2 points

A point to notice is that NXT is no more limited to one type of grip. SCG - pompously meaning "Space Combat Grip" - in attempt to catch the "cosmosim" community, but being in reality a "Generic Combat Grip" (don't attempt by replica of some real grip); was designed for desktop use, so they make the grip less tall possible, not much friendly for big hands. But F-14 and KG-12A grips have more space for hands. MCG grip was not approved - by VBK; to be used in NXT base, due their heavy mass and height, too much for base springs.2 points

Got back into DCS after taking a couple years off for family priorities. I have to say the F/A 18C is an amazing accomplishment and so much has been added and fixed since my initial purchase. The vast amount of weaponry, 2 different targeting pods, A2A radar, flight performance, modeling, etc., The list goes on and on. Its a shame that some players think they purchased a 30MM navy jet for ~$80 US and want ALL Systems modeled perfectly with no bugs. If you want that, go to school, get accepted into the naval academy, put in the hours of training and maybe someday you can fly the real thing! If you don’t want to do all that, fly the damn plane, recognize how much you have for 80 bucks and stop whining. The plane is awesome as is the game. That’s right….GAME. it’s not real life…it’s a GAME. Pretend harder. Thanks ED for the many hours of challenging entertainment you have provided with the wide range of product offerings. I for one appreciate what has been created here and it just keeps getting better! I do have some experience since I’ve been flying combat sims since the Janes F15 and Falcon AT days. Man have we come a long way since then. Take care. Redd.2 points
