  4. @Eight Ballwas a little sad because I hadn't honored his efforts for me in the last pictures... At my request, he quickly added air conditioning and a chimney to the StepVan (food truck version)... Thank you my friend for all your work for the DCS community!

  5. The developer is certainly more active on discord. Afaik he promised to keep on working on the Mod and delivering a "2.0" version with lots of improvements. BUT since this is basically a free gift (you can donate - which I did, but it's not mandatory), we're hardly entitled to push him. When they are ready, we will know.

  6. Hey everyone, just want to let you know that for 2 weeks I won’t have much access to the internet, let alone DCS. I’m going on a surf trip to a remote island without my laptop. I’ve submitted tons of campaign fixes and improvements to ED, so that should be coming soon. In the meantime, if you experience weird AI behavior please report it in the general AI section of the forums with a track attached - all my missions have been out there for at least a year, working smoothly, so if something suddenly starts acting up, there’s a 90% chance it’s due to some new DCS AI bug or inadvertent change, and it’s good to make the devs aware. Alright, enjoy the missions, and happy hunting.

  8. The external textures created by Eagle Dynamics for their F-16 Viper seem to have been left in an unfinished state since Early Access release. Which means details, as well as a somewhat realistic or authentic weathering pattern are absent next to many other things. I spent a lot of work in the past to improve and add up all these small details to the external textures. Overall I added many missing panels, rivets, holes, exhausts, vents, seams, lights and other details to the whole aircraft. Too long and finicky to list all the changes in detail. So below is a short list of the main changes and improvements so far. Added missing panels, rivets as well as holes and exhausts to the bottom fuselage Added more detail to the engine exhaust Added dirt, scratches and leaked oil to the airbrakes mechanism Reworked all rivets and added rivets on the top fuselage (rivet counter) Added textures to the M61 gun Added sealant to the canopy frame, RWR and AIFF antennas - Added new cockpit textures (Currently a sort of WIP placeholder. They are a custom mix of textures made by watermanpc and wolfthrower) So far I reworked the main fuselage, some parts of the tail, all pylons and the fuel tanks. The wings will be overhauled as well with new rivets, etc. WIP preview screens. Compared to the "default" livery by ED (before). Sealant around the RWR antenna Static discharge mounts New engine exhaust. The gas residue on the inside of the nozzles is not final and may vary, can be lighter. Textures for the M61 gun Textures for the internal air refueling door Panels and rivets on the belly near the tailhook Sealant around the AIFF antennas and rivets on the canopy New rivets on the aft fuselage Sealant around the canopy and the AIFF antennas. New rivets and details to the main top fuselage. Close up of the refueling door with new rivets and deeper seams. Complete overview of the main fuselage. Notice the tail (hollywood) lights. My favorite so far, the sealant around the canopy.

  9. Hi HB team! I recently found the BOGEY DOPE radio keybind, and I think it's really helpful, to not look for the radio buttons on my keyboard when I'm trying to see bandits with my eye. Could you guys add a pre contact keybind too? I really suck at AAR, hope this can help a bit.

  10. Hi, Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with DCS right now. It was OK 10 minutes ago. I closed out to do some stuff and when I try and log back in I get "Invalid Username or Password" - yet I'm fine if I log into digitalcombatsimluator.com on my account. I thought I'd check here first to see if there's a wider issue, or whether it's just my account. Cheers Dz

  13. The Bf-109F was introduced during the BoB and finished production in 1942. The Bf-109G6 was produced from Feb 43 to Aug 44 and is a perfect match chronologically for our 1943 Spitfire LF Mk. IXc. Incidentally ours looks like it was a Mk Vc that was factory converted to Mk IX spec sometime in early 43.

  14. @BIGNEWY Just to clarify, there is still a big performance difference between Terrain Shadows = FLAT/DEFAULT versus OFF (2.7 86FPS terrain shadows FLAT 2.8 60 FPSish FLAT), the fix you mention I’m assuming refers to the visual attributes of the terrain shadows NOT the performance impact? Also, the additional canopy shadows from the cockpit seem to be a new feature that may have some impact. As mentioned in a number of other threads, if I turn terrain shadows to OFF I get my 2.7 performance back

  17. DCS: WW2, as it stands, is currently simulating a 1. late war, 2. daylight, 3. tactical operations environment. The He-111 and Wellington are chronologically and operationally irrelevant in this scenario. B-26 and B-25 for the Allies make sense. They were slated for the Asset Pack and hopefully we will see them included in the near future. The Luftwaffe bomber issue is more knotty. There are a few chronologically relevant types, the He 177, Do 217 & Ju 88S, for example. The issue is these were almost exclusively used nocturnally. The days of massed daylight Luftwaffe muti-engines bombers in the ETO ended in 1943. Don't let the search lights fool, you, DCS: WW2 cannot simulate an accurate air-to-air night-fighting environment currently - no GCI for either side and no radar equipped night-fighters. Sounds like you chaps want to re-create the Battle of Britain.... Not a thing in DCS right now.

  18. Version: 1.1.9 - 20221110 Featured Update: Massive enhancements to messenger, new counter module, new "+"/"-" output method for all This update brings another massive update to the messenger module: wildcards that can be used to give *relative* information to the message receiver, like bearing to another unit or zone, closing velocity, aspect or a target etc. This upgrade is a result of a request from @Hunter Joker, so thank you for the inspiration! While at it, I also added a new ability to provide multiple 'canned' text messages that I call "responses", which can then be accessed dynamically during the mission (meaning: the selection which of the pre-supplied responses is taken can depend on a flag or other unit) Messenger's abilities have escalated to such a degree, that the simple demo mission that I wrote became so much fun that it merits sharing with everyone (much like the "Tango" missions that grew out of cloner's new ability to randomly distribute units on street patterns). So, while DML receives a version with the Su-25T to fly, just to show that it takes only a minute to replace the relevant planes, I've put up the MB-339 version (which incidentally came out a few days before and gave me some hours of fun learning a new type) for everyone. Writing the formation trainer mission also gave me the opportunity to include the newest member to DML's family of modules, the counter module. It's very modest, simple to understand, and will find a home in many missions I'm sure. GuardianAngel new has the ability to play a sound file every time that a missile is launched or when a missile is removed by the Angels - as requested by @Sinclair_76. See the updated demo. Another big change I added under the hood: all modules now have access to expanded output methods "+" and "-" that will add or subtract a flag or number from the targeted flag - exceedingly useful, and requrested a number of times. Other changes include fixes to bugs (three of them were identified by @Hellfire alone - thank you so much!) and some ancillary updates to usability and QoL. Changes in Detail Documentation Manual - New counter module - Messenger Update - new "+" and "-" output methods - "Formation Trainer" demo (messenger, counter) Quick Ref - Counter module (new) Demos - Formation Trainer (new) - Guardian Angels Reloaded - updated with audio feedback Modules - baseCaptured 1.0.2 - fixed redCaptured! typos - cfxMon 1.0.1 - fixed Static Object event bug - SpawnZones 1.7.1 - improved verbosity - Fix for 'Scattered' formation - cfxZones 2.9.1 - New "+"/"-" output methods - evalRemainder() (new) - changer 1.0.4 - increased verbosity - counter 1.0.0 - initial version - dcsCommon - 2.7.9 - getGeneralDirection() (new) - getNauticalDirection() (new) - hardened getUnitSpeed() - bool2Num() (new) - aspectByDirection() (new) - fixed minDist bug for 'scattered' - randomPointInCircle() hardened - GuardianAngel 3.0.4 - intervention sound - launch sound - messenger 2.1.0 - massive upgrades to the wildcard abilities - unitZone 1.2.4 - added verbosity Enjoy, -ch

  20. This appears to be a problem at ED's end. Please don't waste your time - resetting your password, doing repairs. Rolling back to Stable (or conversely upgrading to Open Beta), etc . None of these will work. It's not something we can fix by the looks of it. You can currently confirm if your password is OK by logging into ED's website at http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com however given so many people are having the same problem - no solution appears to be available. Until ED officially respond with a solution, or they fix the problem there end, there appears to be nothing we can do about it for now.

  22. @BIGNEWY Sorry for being late with a test of the latest 2.8.0.32235.1 Open Beta. You can see that even without any shadows switched on, with my PC I lose about 2 ms GPU frame time. And a little CPU frame time. I am sure you guys are already investigating in every direction. But the performance drop is still present without any shadows. This is tested with a single F16 over Caucasus and nothing else in the mission to eliminate as much factors as possible. Running a RTX 4090, I 19200KF and Pimax 8KX headset. perf_test_caucasus.miz

  23. Barthek's CAUCASUS REDONE 2022 REV. 2 Fellow simmers, it is with great pleasure that I would like to present to you the newest revision of my CAUCASUS REDONE 2022 mod. The introduction of DCS 2.8 caused some problems with the previous version, so I decided to revamp it and enhance with some new features. The greatest change comes with the application of the sweetfx shaders which, of course, are optional but highly recommended. You will immediatelly see the difference in vibrance, tones and shading with almost no fps cost. My sweetfx settings will be attached to this post below. REV. 2, just like the previous version, gives you the option to install SNOWLESS WINTER pack, which has also been improved in some areas. I hope you will enjoy this version and have many successful sorties over Caucasus! Looking forward to hearing some feedback from you, guys! Best, Barthek INSTALLATION GUIDE 1. If you're using any terrain mods, please deactivate them to avoid potential complications. 2. Download the MOD in JSGME-ready format from HERE. 3. Unzip the content of this package to your JSGME mods folder within your DCS main folder. 4. Activate the mod in JSGME. You can find a great tutorial on how to do that HERE. 5. Preferably, set your gamma to 2.5. 6. [OPTIONAL] Download and install RESHADE from https://reshade.me. 7. [OPTIONAL] Download my reshade preset from HERE and place it in your DCS World OpenBeta\bin destination. 8. Launch DCS and pray it all works. MORE SCREENSHOTS OPTIONAL SNOWLESS WINTER / LATE AUTUMN: Answering to some requests of having a snowless version of winter, I hereby present to you some screenshots of what I managed to achieve in that regard. Below, please find the download link and instructions on how to install it. Have fun! INSTALLATION GUIDE 1. Make sure you have the main mod installed (it's not a standalone version). You can find it earlier in this post. 2. Download the SNLOWLESS WINTER pack from HERE. 2. Using JSGME (or another mod-managing software) install the optional SNOWLESS WINTER / LATE AUTUMN overwriting all necessary files when asked to do so. 3. If you want to go back to original version of winter, you will have to disable in your JSGME both the MAIN MOD and the optional SNOWLESS WINTER and then enable the MAIN MOD again. 24. As it seems, with normandy 2 map coming soon and no signs for a other (late war) european maps at foreseeable future, now would be perfect time to finally release Bf 109 G6. That one plane would finally fix something that has been incorrect for so long. So please make it happen.

  25. Relevant both for SP and MP. When you choose a friendly unit on the F10 map - beside the alt/speed/hdg that appear in the bottom left corner - please add it's current UHF/VHF/FM. For SP - that would be nice particularly in situation when the brief in missing data or it's old a corrupted (old missions) and you want to hook to a tanker or contact AWACS etc. In MP - that would be very very useful on server to get in touch with other flights. Additional idea, is to put all AI units in the kneeboard as a table in the following format: unit call sign, mission, type, freq, tacan. For example: SHELL 1-1, REFUEL, KC-135, U237.5, 73Y. That would be awesome!

  26. Thank you ED after years of the lights popping in and out at a distance they now are working as they should. While you fixed it you missed that when the battery is off and you zoom out on the plane the landing light still comes on. It is just great that something was fixed on the Mustang. A big thank you to the individual who fixed this. Hopefully they will let you have more time to address the problems with this plane.

  28. Fairly similar - no. Or yes, in a way all 109's are fairly similar. Appropriate match for Spit IX - G6 is exactly that. Both IX and G6 were in service from 43 on (G6 later updated to G14). Whole reason i started this topic is to have at least somewhat historically correct planeset - now we have pretty good "main fighters" for mid '44 minus Bf 109 G6. Don't get me wrong, i would absolutely love to see F4 (or any other 109 model) too but then it would another mismatch to rest of the planes, F series were mainly active in 1941-42. I would definitely love to see earlier Mustangs too for example but in my opinion G6 would be first necessary step to fix planeset for incoming Normandy 2.0 map.

  30. Got mine Yesterday & tried it I did one back & forth with G2 for fun. I will update this the second, I manage a 3hours flight with my 'Squadron' Installation Easy, It just work, Unlike Windows Mix reality - Open XR The UI is in need of a Refresh for PCVR, but it works. Comfort Personally, I find the Quest Pro way more comfortable to wear for 3 hours. (Headshape dependent) It is very well balanced. **I notice after 4 hours strait, coming out of VR, I don't feel like I'm coming back from a other dimension, Big plus The G2 was a bit more stable in your face. The no blinder to me is a major plus as I like to read chart & stuff with a table & the Peep hole in the G2 was a pain. This comes down to personal preference. The Dock station is actually very good to keep everything in the same spot. Visual With the following Bit rate set at 500mb/s , ***960mb/s seems to to wonder for the 90hz (lower setting) Slider in Oculus set to max @ 90hz, *** I reverted to 2160 vertical pixel, texture were just mediocre in the test cockpit & spotting was harder for nothing. Bought the 100$ Usb-C fiber cable from Meta (In their defence the quality of the cable is stellar) After 3 hours, I don't feel like I was coming for a other dimension when I got out of it - BIG plus Like mentioned in other reviews, It's clear ACROSS THE Lens (The entire thing) - Massive plus IMO - Specially in the F-14 That alone is very likely what's going to sell it for me. The Resolution is a nudge Lower on center vs Reverb G2 (spotting in Air to Air is Miles better) Going back in forth is Hard to go to the G2 because you really notice your eye can't move around at all. FOV is a A nudge wider but Wider never the less Tracking Like every Oculus, Rift , Quest Product it's FLAWLESS. (G2 was ok but had some problem depending on the environment) Performance I updated to 2.8 before trying both so take that with a grain of salt. Reverb G2 ASW / Retro off seems to be a bit better because of Open XR.... That being said the Quest Pro with ASW 45fps is way way smoother & has almost no Artifact. (My GPU is running harder with the Quest Pro Go figure) Price Is it worth 1500 usd. Yes & no Personally, I think it's a cool package, but they are delusional that people with work in this all day or most of the day. The PC 3 screen setup is actually Nice. The passthrough is mediocre but functional. The controller are seriously impressive. (I always liked Oculus controller but this is a step above everything I've seen) It's also not a hassle to plug in, 1 USB-C that's it. unlike the HP Contraption of power brick & cables. No DP Cable that's going to snap or break for no reason every 12 months is nice. They could've done more but I guarantee you the finance department got into it put a stop to a bunch of features before it got out of hand. ***The BAD & The Ugly Battery life could be better or at least hold charge better like the quest 2 did. They really need to find the settings for PCVR inhouse & let everyone know what a 4090,3090,3080 etc can do. No 120hz (To run at 60 with motion reprojection was a Charm on the quest 2) Major update needed to the oculus software, it's functional but dated. The integrated speaker are mediocre but functional. The Sold separately ear buds are ok Bottom line, Addition the Swine flue 2020 & the scared little kitten, Over ballooned Tech market, Uncontrolled spending, Monetary devaluation, Eurozone that pretend they still are a entity that matter to any level. Your BUYING POWER IS <profanity>, you will not see a other headset below 800-900 USD ever. (Get used to it) The next best thing for me was Varjo Aero & 5000$ CAD (Bases + taxes) vs (Quest Pro was 2300$ CAD) I will very likely keep it & sell my Reverb G2 5800x3D + NH-D15 64GB 4x16GB 3200 CL16 Ram 3090 FTW3 Ultra (slight OC) - Waiting for a 4090 FE to exist in Canada 3TB M.2 SSD

  31. This is Build 04 of the SU-57 EFM Thrust Vectoring Technology Demonstrator. Keep in mind this is more of Work in progress in regards it's FM and Thrust vectoring. There is no Oxigen system because it's only a demonstrator for testing EFM possibilities. Keybinds are F for stage 1 Thrust vectoring and B for stage 2. Stage one triggers All axis such as pitch, roll, rudder while second stage triggers only Pitch in a more aggressive manner. There are also bugs so remember it's all WIP. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1t4PRNeyB6gaq0E2BCHx6x71GhpBZg-y_/view?usp=sharing

  38. Mostly agreed. The P-47D-30 (early) was available from late May 1944 however. Incorrect. They were introduced in early/mid 1943 and represent types still in the frontline in 1944 and reflect the performance of the models from that era. The I-16 is an outlier provided by a 3rd party and represents a separate theatre. Thus has no real impact on the conversation. Incorrect. It's an amalgamation. The format of the UK airfields available puts it squarely in April 1944. French airfields are more of a mish-mash, some Battle of Britain era, some even reflecting their post war layouts. Agreed in detail but the sentiment remains that currently, the majority of our WW2 assets are focused on a period in the ETO from 1943 till 1945. Are there gaps? Sure. Do I wish to these filled? Absolutely. But does it not make sense to spend development effort fleshing out that specific time period? Fill the gaps in the current chronology - not supply random assets from irrelevant theatres or campaigns that are not useful in recreating prototypical operations.

  40. In terms of Phoenix Pk the way ED's AI evaluates defensive manoeuvres against missiles is also an enormous culprit. A AIM-54 and AIM-120 fired at the same parameters will have the AI do a split-S defence against the AIM-54 90+% of the time, whereas vs the AIM-120 they will almost always do some attempt at cranking and notching. For long-range shots (35+ nmi) AIM-54 almost always arrives at 10 nmi with 0.5-0.8 excess mach compared to the AIM-120, but this doesn't matter in the slightest due to differences in AI manoeuvring.

  41. Not sure which FOV trick you are referring to. I have not changed any FOV settings in ODT/OTT. What improved my FOV and comfort was flipping the rear pad so the back of the headset sits higher. No, I have not tried FSR yet. I have pretty good performance now, since I turned off ASW. Slightly better than I had with the G2 (Open Composite and OpenXR) and same DCS settings. Might give the VRperfkit a try.

  45. Another thing, Maxsin, you need to realize that BFM performance will not noticeably change. I am getting the impression that some folks want it to be back to what it was immediately after release, where it overperformed, and that has been fixed since 3 years or longer even. Being within 3% is insanely accurate for an FM, and if we bring it down to maybe 1-2%, that is almost unheard of. But the margin will be so small, that it will not change anything, really. It simply is what it is. That is something that needs to be accepted. Whether the F18 overperforms or not in DCS, I do not know, some think it does, but none of them ever flew one, and those who did won't tell you. It could be, but it also could not be. The F18 is simply good in BFM, and that, too, needs to be taken into account. That said, it is always the pilot who wins over another pilot in BFM, never the aircraft, unless both pilots are of the same skill, which is rare, and even then, one will make a mistake sooner than the other. Hence skills are always best tested in the exact same aircraft. The higher your skill, the "lesser" aircraft you can "wield" against a higher performing aircraft. But imho all these BFM tournaments are a little bit nonsensical, because they are not in categories. And the categories should be always several of the same aircraft type, so F18 vs F18, F16 vs F16, F14 Vs F14... you get the idea + a mixed category, where it is a free for all. In that category, there should be no restrictions, and everyone should be allowed to set up as he wants, fuel, pylons, no pylons, flaps, no flaps, whatever, that is the idea of a free for all. Think you can win within 30 seconds (as you should)? Bring 20% fuel. Miscalculate and you are done. And so on and so forth. But that is how I would do it, and as mentioned, we don't mix in how others do their events. Or, you know, you can always bring an A-10 and murder everyone hahaha.

  46. I’d think any 3D modeler could make a He-111, a Vickers Wellington, and a B-25. Once the 3D model is made just use the already in place A-20G AI and flight model. Obviously you couldn’t do this with fighters that a player would dogfight with…. Each fighter flight model needs to be as close as possible….. But two engine medium bombers don’t have to have precise flight models.

  48. DCS: C-130J Announcement Although the C-130 first entered service nearly 70 years ago, the airframe has been continually updated, culminating with the delivery of the J model in 1999. Watch the teaser. The ‘J’ is a modernized variant that features a glass cockpit, air-to-ground radar, FMS, and computerized airdrop capabilities designed to reduce crew workload. Exciting additional variants are planned in the near future, including the KC versions. This will offer player to player aerial refueling, another first in DCS.
