  1. Very unlikely- as we plan to start work on the Navy Phantoms very quickly and this would simply end up being a distraction

  2. The moderator has marked the thread with "missing track", so I play the game and do a systematic test. I created a mission with 10 BMP-2 as targets. The A-10C II carries 42 each M151L and M282L. I flew the mission twice. First run I used M282L only, and in the second run M151L only. I saved tracks of both and I also have the Tacview files. I evaluated the first run replaying the track. But I found that after the 8th target the track no longer reproduced the true action. So I used the Tacview records to capture the attacks on the last two targets. Herte are the results: Using M282L Using M151L Target Hits to K.O. Weapon Remark Target Hits to K.O. Weapon Remark 1 1 M282L 1 1 M151L damaged 86% 2 4 M282L 2 1 M151L damaged 86% 3 1 M282L 3 1 M151L damaged 86% 4 6 M282L 4 1 M151L damaged 86% 5 1 M282L 5 1 M151L damaged 86%. Killed with 2nd Hydra 6 1 M282L 6 1 M151L damaged 86% 7 9 M282L 5th rocket fell short 7 1 M151L damaged 86% 8 1 M282L 8 1 M151L damaged 86% 9 4 M282L Track is invalid, using Tacview data 9 1 M151L damaged 86% 10 2 M282L 10 1 M151L damaged 86% "Hits to K.O." is the number of hits it takes to knock the target out so it can no longer fight. There is a difference in the way the two different Hydras are treated. 1. When you replay the track for the M282L and look at the debrief information you see that many hits that you witnessed in the track are not recorded as hits in the debrief. They are however recorded in Tacview. The hits not recorded in the debrief do not produce any damage in the target and do not affect its ability to fight. This explains the large number of hits required to destroy some of the BMP's. You have to really kill the BMP (critical damage) in order to disable it. It took 30 hits to K.O. the 10 BMP's. 2. The M151L disables the BMP with a single hit in all cases, resulting in "damaged 86%". At this damage level the BMP is totally unable to fight. You can just leave it there or give it the coup de grâce with a short gun burst. It took 10 hits to K.O. the 10 BMP's. My conclusion: the M151L is currently 3 times more effective against armoured targets like IFV's than the M282L. This does not seem realistic. It would mean that the M282L has no reason for being. The track files are too big for uploading to the forum. I will upload them to my OneDrive and add the link here. Here is the link to my OneDrive folder with the two track files: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AmGPVJpzF_Q4mFRmHoXqP6__bUsp?e=wgYmoh I'd appreciate if a moderator could clear out the empty lines below. 3. Great idea. For the people who want to pretend DCS is another game entirely, let the game modification people handle it. Heatblur shouldn't waste time on frivolous unrealistic "features" when the true naval version will be worked on immediately after the land-based version as has been previously stated in this very thread. Those who know about naval Phantoms know that the changes required are more than just invisible hookups to the catapult. The Phantom has to maintain a critical angle of attack to achieve a proper flyaway attitude. The F-4E cannot extend its nose strut and therefor will have difficulty achieving flyaway attitude before hitting the water without excessive wind over deck. If you have to do excessive wind over deck you might as well put it at 190kts in the mission editor and lift off vertically. I doubt Heatblur would want to mar their reputation with unrealistic capabilities built into their modules in any case.

  5. She is done, and too strong, lol. Not a bad thing since that means longer flight times without degradation in performance. Right now I am flying with 3/100 centering force for my trimmer and 1/100 shake. I will be doing files or parts kits on laserwing.com and GitHub. Working on more motor options to keep cost down and variety for the range of strength.

  9. Having a clearout. The cable has failed on my Reverb G1 and it is impossible to source a replacement. The headset itself was replaced under warranty by HP maybe 18 months ago and is working fine. I use earbuds because I needed split audio out to power my buttkicker and sound, so the earphones were removed from new and have never been used. The backpack laptop cable has also never been used and the controllers likewise. Just for setting up purposes. All packed up in the original box, so if you have the 4m cable but a dud headset, you have a winner. Also Oculus Rift CV1, complete kit with extra sensor, controllers, spare cable and other spares. In full working order when packed away in the original packaging due to Reverb arriving. Pick up only. If you are near Selby north yorkshire and have need of them, send me a message.

  10. Nope, I have been in and out of hospital a lot over the last 18 months with a serious spinal problem, just had the surgery I have been waiting 5 years for and I'm in a slow recovery process right now. Tending to do the easy stuff for now whilst I restrict my time on my PC and this will need starting afresh, there is a lot of stuff that needs updating or removing because its private, I dont want to upset anyone. I'll consider myself reminded to get on with this though ... its started, be patient.

  11. Steps 1-5 are correct as is. Step 7 and 8 are the problem after the aircraft turns towards the designated SPI in step 6. There is no automatic slewing action from the MAV and no way to command the MAV to slew towards the SPI which is now in full view. TMS-Down on WPN-SOI should command slave-to-SPI but does completely cancel and reset the SPI.

  13. I could not help but take time out to experience these new mods despite being busy in real life. These are amazing.. especially the drivable ships.. presents a whole new perspective of dcs landscape. Loved the interiors of the tug and the Somali trawler (this one has a Capt. Philips poster) Breathtaking to see the towering troll A gas platform at night which is also an engineering marvel in real life. Learned the hard way that an lng tanker can't be maneuvered like a bmp2 after it collided at Guam port entry. Totally unexpected to see the animation on the windmill repair ship too. Marvelous job as always @Eight Ballthank you very much for this experience. Will post some screenshots later. One small question : AI helicopters approach from the aft of the Troll A platform when setup for landing.. this is the side where the cranes and superstructure are and is usually a profile thats not adopted.. is it possible to change the default approach from the forward (helipad) side or from Port or starboard sides.?

  14. Click on the button that is below the blank page and select a page and it should store the page above that button. You can, if you dont finger around. In AA or AG master mode, SMS page will display the weapons selection page. In NAV mode or if you pressed the S-J or jettison page, then it will show the loadout schematics. To get back to weapons selection, deselect jettison or enter a AG or AA master mode. Cursor Zero, press it. If you slew the TGP or any sensor around, it creates an offset. If you do not zero that offset, it will keep the offset until you zero it by pressing cursor zero. Probably, check the JHMCS page on the DED for that.

  15. The sheer amount of people who apparently lack the physics nous to understand the vast effect that changes in air pressure (and by direct proportion, density) play in missile performance leaves me somewhat incredulous. Let's start with a truism: peak Aim-54 performance requires a supersonic launch from 30,0000 ft+ against a hot, high flying, non-manoeuvering target At 30,000ft air pressure is going to be in the region of 25-30KPa. At 6,000ft it's going to be closer to 80kPa. That's more than 3 times the air pressure - ergo there are 3 times as many air molecules (density remember) that the missile body has to push against, 3 times as much air resistance; this slows the rate of acceleration of the missile whilst it is under power, limiting it's max achievable top speed plus it makes the missile slow down faster when it's in its glide phase. That's already brought your theoretical range down to 35nm. BUT THERE'S MORE! Don't forget that the AIM-54 in those high-altitude, long-range shots lofts to >80,000ft in order to benefit from even less air resistance, in the region of only 2-3kPa! That's 1/10th of the air resistance it would have had at 30,000ft and ~1/20th of the air resistance down at 6,000ft! But the 6,000ft shot would loft, right? Not necessarily - given the max range the WCS may not calculate a loft profile; even if it does, it cannot possibly loft the additional 40-50,000ft that the high alt launch loft profile gives you because the motor performance suffers due to the increased low altitude air density. Ergo the loft will likely be in the 33% of that figure, and give you ~15,000ft additional loft, which would take the missile to the ~20,000ft region. That equates to roughly 40kPa. That's still 13 times more than the air resistance at 80,000ft. Then, have your target make even a moderate missile defence and of course it's going to be scuppered. So, if you are: Below 30,000ft Under Mach 1 Targeting anything other than a bomber/transport that has limited evasive manoeuvring potential Don't expect your Phoenixes to connect at anything close to 100nm. Even maintaining those launch parameters, against fighters you need to compress that timeline to 40-50nm. Get slower/lower and those ranges compress further. What's so difficult to comprehend?

  17. I have this problem too. Regardless of my graphics settings, I can't make out the landing area until half way down the grove. Combined with the IFLOS disappearing with any overshoot, it's really frustrating doing carrier trals at the moment. I don't recall having either of these issues 12 months ago.

  19. Was Sinn macht ist aktuell etwas warten. Schau dir einfach mal Benchmarks an - gerade in WQHD.

  23. The AGM-65 cannot be utilized with offbore angles other than what is originally within the MAV-seeker window when in VIS-HMCS mode. Steps: 1. Select AGM-65H (also other models) on the SMS page and set A/G->VIS 2. SOI moves to HUD 3. Long-press TMS-Up to transfer SOI from HUD to HMCS 4. HMCS TD-Box appears. TMS-Up to designate VIS-HMCS-SPI to a target (or ground) to your right 90° offbore (ie. popup SA-6). SOI is automatically transferred to WPN-MAV 5. MAV slews towards TD-Box SPI but hits gimbal limit and stops movement 6. Move AC nose towards designated VIS-HMCS-SPI 7. MAV does not move towards SPI even though now within MAV gimbal limits 8. MAV does not present HOTAS command to slave towards SPI that is now within reach. TMS-Down with SOI on WPN-MAV resets entire SPI and starts the process anew. Expectation: MAV should either automatically slave towards VIS-SPI when able due to AC rotation or implement TMS-Down to re-slave towards VIS-SPI. Demo: See attached track on Caucasus with AGM-65H. 25. When you press the M button on the RADAR stick when in SPA-mode, the radar shall go live for one single sweep, with enhanced luminescence on the RADAR display (CI).. After that single Sweep the RADAR must go silent again. The concept is as this: Approach att low level, climb to 100 m, one RADAR push, go to counter course as you descent back to 30 m. When on counter course you update the RADAR shadow tracking (SKU). The CI "memory" (hence the "M" button) must extend over a practical time where you still can see the targets. My estimate is between one and two minutes. Summary: M button should start a single RADAR sweep while the CI increases the luminescence and keep the targets for enough time to allow for later track update.

  26. Been asking some aircrew, by month 2-3 the decks were quite worn like we are seeing, both the markings from all the tire skids and fluids, but also the actual anti-skid wore off and the decks got slippery. IF the tempo and time and weather allowed sometimes they'd re-apply anti-skid, and sometimes touch up markings, but not always and it again would quickly get worn/beat up/grimed over again. Add to that weather, sun position, and trying to see the deck markings could be extremely hard.

(Until I've landed. Then the slideshow started again) So I alt tabbed out, and back in a couple of times, and the framerate got acceptable again.

  31. I did not quit get 80km range, but I think I was close enough. Victim is as always with all long range either not paying attention or a beginner. The missile was fired with LA and manual loft of 20 degree. Need to experiment with higher angles since this one flew way lower than his amraam which missed me. As a test I fired 4 77. 2xloft + 2xdirect. All 4 hit the target.

  32. I have more $ than sense? (Usually when I’m drunk ordering) Lol but seriously, I decided to move to the AM5 platform for upgrade ability. I had been on AM4 since 2700 series. I am planning on getting one of the 7,000 series x3d chips when they are available. and sell my now extra MB and 7900x to my brother. as far as the initial problem I “think” it might now be resolved and it was something very, very stupid. I switched USB ports. I have a buddy staying with me who suggested it might be the reverb G2. I had an issue with the prior system of the display going black for 2-5 min but then coming back. Other users reported the volume being too high could cause an extra power draw. So I solved that by keeping the headset volume below 90%. the screen going black but not coming back could be a similar issue. On the new setup I stopped using the c port and have it in a dedicated usb 3.0 type A port and haven’t had any issues for about 48hrs. it’s ridiculous that the ports can supply up to 60W for phone fast charging but not enough power for VR headsets?!

  33. 1. While I'd agree that the flaps should fail in an overspeed condition, I don't agree that they should be blown smoothly back up without breakage, as they are in DCS currently. There's no allowance for hydraulic fluid to flow in this scenario, once flaps acheive their preset angle. To be clear, the flaps getting blown up during overspeed in DCS is not a failure of the flaps, they are merely being blown back up and return to their position once airspeed will drop. 1a. Agreed, hydraulics wouldn't fail (this contradicts with your first point though..?). A more mechanical component seems likely to fail, and it's likely the torque tube arm attaching the strut to the torque tube, as mentioned in my final notes in the post and yourself. 1b. If you look at the video, you'll see this isn't the behavior in DCS. Flaps are undamaged by overspeeding, and can be used repeatedly. Even in the very odd case that they do actually lock. 2. This is not modeled.

  34. The rudder is controllable in all speeds which is wrong. Basically you can apply full rudder when supersonic and the plane would brake up. In the real Viggen the pedals are locked with hydraulic pressure (250 bar) above 550 km/h to protect the fin. The FCS might apply corrections on the rudder above that speed, but exact control laws are unknown to me. Other Maximum rudder angular velocity is about 60 degrees/s. That goes for all rudder surfaces. Maximum roll speed is about 275 degrees/s.

  38. I did, yeah. I have never been a fan of Reshade; it just changes the overal feel of games too much imho. But after seeing this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGxgD9GNVNw) and the crisp textures and clarity (like lifting a veil), I had to try it. So I've tinkered a bit with the settings (I didn't want to change the "warmth/colors" too much). I'm currently using my "optimal" profile, in where I follow the "less is more" approach. Not even setting clarity too much (as it makes the textures too crisp to look at). FakeHDR is also not really working (I have an 1000nits HDR monitor and know what it shoud look like^^). I've included my 3 profiles, BUT: everyone has to find his own settings! The good thing is: one can adjust the sliders and plugins on-the-fly ingame, which is a huge help setting it up. 44. I mentioned I also have a HUGE "eye candy" vehicles mod made in a similar way - mostly ED models that I have removed from the game maps where they were placed and could not be moved or covered over, so I had to get them back into the game by creating static versions of them so that I could place them where I wanted them and not where the map dictated. In the process I also added new liveries for some of them. The whole purpose of the mod was to get all the vehicles I wanted to add to my maps of airfields in one place in the drop downs and not have to go trawling all over the ME to find them ... and in doing that I also added all the vehicles from other peoples Mods as well - the mod went from LARGE to IMMENSE very quickly as you can imagine !! Clearly I cant pass all of this stuff on to you, they are not mine to pass on. Here are some images of what is in there, I still need to confirm that I can pass some of these on and when I have done that I will update the Mad and you can have it, warts and all. That will take a while, I cannot remember where some of this stuff came from and whilst I think its all legal I need to make as sure as I can, I'm not planning to piss anyone off !!!

  45. I've flown the Hornet for a couple of years now, and although I've in that time bought both the Huey and Gazzelle, I haven't flown either, but since I bought the KA-50 I haven't put it down. In fact, I've removed the detent from my Warthog knowing I'll be flying the Black Shark for a while yet. Until the SuperCarrier comes out of course. But yeah, the KA-50 is a blast to fly and challenging to learn.
