Good catch, thanks! Well, I can only do so much. Core DCS is what it is, there is only so much I can do with DCS AI. For example, I have upped my ship's size attribute so that they will appear as a bigger threat and therefore other ships and LBASMs will fire more missiles at them. The LRASM was successfully VLS launched in a test around 2016. But since then focus has been on integrating the LRASM on more aircraft. Currently only the B-1 and F/A-18E can be fitted with them. The plan is to also integrate the missile on F-35, P-8A and B-52. But I have yet to see any news on VLS LRASM yet. "Reflecting the broad deployment options an ASM capability can generate, and the need to spread such capability to help deter an adversary and complicate their planning, the United States is also investing in surface launch options. These include: using in-service Lockheed Martin Mk 41 vertical launching system (VLS) modules, with integration including fitting LRASM with a Mk 114 booster; and developing a deck-mounted launcher." Yep, I've been looking for suitable 3D models of both the LAV-AD and the M-SHORAD. Thanks for the suggestion! Hm, why are you not using the AShM loadout of the Flight III? They are equipped with 16 x antiship capable SM-6, with a range of 130 nm.8 points

I see that this thread is marked with "pm evidence". You can simply open a -1 flight manual of your choosing and check the power distribution diagrammes. They will list everything that is powered by the EPU (and a lot of those items are currently not powered in DCS using the EPU). I'm sure ED has much more modern documentation in their possession than any of us have access to, which would naturally be more useful for the type of F-16C they're modelling.7 points

CH, I have a request for you, this goes along with your infantry assets and that is modern manpads. Specifically the FIM-92J/K, compared to the ingame Stinger, this missile has far better ECCM, and comes equipped with a Proximity fuze making it a deadly threat. It would awesome to see this for infantry along with some vehicles I have listed. Seeing as Stingers make up the entirety of American SHORAD I this is a really needed addition. Thank You LAV-AD: M-SHORAD: Avenger:6 points

Great news from Heatblur Simulations! "We're warming up your seat! The last miles are always the hardest, and the team is presently working night and day to get DCS: F-4E ready for launch. The Phantom has now been in development for just over two years, and we've been working incredibly hard to build not only the ultimate recreation of the Phantom, but a sustainable platform for Heatblur moving forward, starting with the launch of the F-4. Every rivet, screw, breaker, lamp, and otherwise will be accurately recreated in what we hope will be the ultimate simulation of the legendary Phantom. Our current focus is still on wrapping up some of the most complex and intricate systems coming to DCS: F-4E, such as Jester 2.0. Not only do we have to make sure that new features developed are great, polished and fun on day one; but since we'll be re-using a lot of our new technology in both past and future aircraft, we're treading thoughtfully. We've always tried to look for new ways to further DCS and our own products, and the Phantom will be no different. Elements like better in game learning or RPG-lite mechanics in JESTER are just some examples of where we've gone this time around. Our key priority however is ensuring that you have a great experience on launch day, with a rich and as close to feature complete experience as we can provide, and we'll be sparing no effort to get to the quality you all expect. We can't wait for you to fly the F-4. Stay tuned for more news, including F-4E, but also MSFS F-14 as well as updates to DCS: F-14, Viggen and other Heatblur elements shipping this year. We're somewhat quiet at the moment as we have our heads down and are working hard, but we hope to share much more soon. Thank you for all of the support, we couldn't do this without you all!" High Tacan SOF.trkThe BUG here is that running EPU should support most of vital avionics and hydraulics (engine off). Buses Lost: 1) Non-essential DC 2) Essential DC (This results in loss of power to fuel boost and transfer pumps, CARA, ECM, and FCR and power for normal weapon arming/release including selective jettison.) Equipment Lost while running EPU: (REFS-REFS) R) Radar Altimeter (CARA) R) Recce Pod (236) E) ECM (184) E) EW CMS F) FCR F) Fuel Pumps (Boost/Transfer) S) SMS Arm/Release Power S) S-J Now in DCS, giro is completely off, no FMP, no navigation, no TACAN, just speed, BARO altimeter and radios. Which is in contradiction of what we can see in two popular real life examples of Engine off landing we can found on Youtube. Another BUG with EPU: According to EMERGENCY MANUAL, running JFS is increasing used Hydrazine. 8nm, 40% w JFS (45% w/o) 4nm, 20% w JFS (25% w/o) In DCS now, it doesnt matter, after same amount of time, EPU used same amount of hydrazine, with or w/o JFS running. And one another: according to EMER PROC guides, REDUCING CONTROL SURFACE MOTIONS WILL REDUCE USAGE OF HYDRAZINE. - NOT IN DCS.4 points

Bit of a long shot, but because I know how active and helpful you are; @Flappie, is there any chance you could get the attention from one of the community managers and point them in our direction? Given your contribution to the forum (and DCS) I'm sure a "reach out" from you to them, will mean something. We have been trying to get any form of acknowledgement from Razbam (both here and on their Discord) and from ED's community managers, but no response whatsoever so far. None of us are yelling for an immediate fix (although that would be convenient ), we're merely trying to find acknowledgement for what appears to be a huge issue for many, making SA map pretty much unplayable.4 points

Submission to the Livery Competition: B-17F assembly ship "The Spotted Cow" of 384BG Included are two skins: B-17F Assembly Ship ''The Spotted Cow'' B-17F Assembly Ship ''The Spotted Cow'' Generic Download Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3332554/ "Patches II" was an early replacement aircraft for the 547th BS, replacing the original "Patches" after that plane was salvaged in late July 1943. "Patches II" flew combat missions throughout early 1944, and was retired in the summer to serve as the 384th's assembly ship. With this, she was given a high-visibility paint job of blue polka-dots over white. She was immediately given the nicknames "Spotted Cow" and "Speckled Hen." Her mission was to orbit the airbase to allow the rest of the group formation to form up after take-off. She would definitely be hard to miss!4 points

It is, and I find it quite annoying and almost nauseating. If it is implemented in DCS, I hope it will be optional. My best advice is: Just don´t do it ! My head never leaves the cockpit unless I deliberately try to do it.4 points

APKWS was Added in the last OFP for the Legacy Hornet (SCS-25X) in 2016, and Only really used by the USMC Legacy hornets, as the USN Legacy Hornets had already began their sunsetting to be mothballed or transferred to the USMC to be upgraded to C++ Standard. They are not part of the stores system for SCS-21A, A1, X, or 23X OFP. While they are simply plug and play, for most aircraft. Modern DFCS Aircraft (A-10C, F/A-18C, F-16C, F-15x, etc) need to have it in the stores management as the weights are different, and the FCS Limiter is governed by the computer, which takes into account stores weight. Having 2 wings full of rockets that the computer assumes weights 13 lbs each when they actually weigh ~33 lbs each and the CoG is Shifted on them, times 7 per LAU-68, x however many are loaded on each wing, Causes Incorrect Trimming, Incorrect G-Limit, Structural and Handling issues. The Computer knowing those rockets are equipped with the 20lb guidance insert adjusts the flight envelope and g-limit per the extra weight.4 points

You ask for evidence on that system? Okay, then open up your -1 manual, go to section 1 and start reading from 1-98 thru to 1-104. These pages deal with the EPU. You also want to read the section before that starting from 1-82 thru to 1-97. That very section deals with the electrical system and said power distribution diagrammes in general. There you will find all the evidence needed and you will also see that GumidekCZ is absolutely right about the EPU. Thank you.3 points

Thanks for answering Flappie. Admittedly, I (we ) have a pretty old rig, but all other maps still run pretty smooth (for my standards), even Sinai when flying over Cairo. Yet flying over any town on the SA map and I'm looking at a slide show If you get the same (poor) results, maybe you can do what none of us managed and get some sort of response from Razbam.3 points

It would definitely be cool to see an AI G and would absolutely be something I'd be fully in favour of. However, with the amount of work on HBs plate already and with a couple of AI assets that have long been in the works but yet remain unreleased (J 35J, A-6E, KA-6D and the 3 remaining Forrestals) I'm not sure how viable it would be. I'm not sure how you figure that. I don't see how it's fallacious to make that point when the reasoning is essentially the exact same. You absolutely can argue such a thing on the grounds of consistency (see below for an easy example), nothing fallacious about it. I also don't know how it can be considered arbitrary either - surely if anything is arbitrary, it's permitting some hypothetical weapons but not others, when the reasoning for adding both is basically identical. I agree it's a bad idea, not because it's fallacious, but because it calls for wild scope screep and almost certainly isn't viable. It's why I think that items that potentially open the doors to wide scope creep should probably be avoided in the first place and why having a clear and consistent set of rules is important. If we have that (and I’m sure HB has already decided on them) then this ceases to be a problem. And for the record, somebody pointing this out doesn't mean that they think HB or any other developer are somehow incompetent and need to be protected from "bad decisions" - I'm fully confident HB have already decided where the line is and what the allowable scope should be - they certainly don't need me to to tell them what to do. I'm just lending my thoughts (which you and HB and anyone else are absolutely entitled to think are utterly worthless on the matter) as to why it might be a bad idea. Like it or not, people have argued for weapons in the past based on a perceived inconsitency that hinges on us getting something that's inaccurate but not others, despite the reasoning for adding them both being the same. If we were to get the AGM-78 I bet you we'll be hearing things like "if we can have the AGM-78 on the E for 'x' reason, why can't we have the HARM for 'x' reason?", "HB are being inconsistent and hypocritical if they allow the STARM but not the HARM!" - yes, these kind of arguments, with very similar wording, have been used in the past for other modules. It isn't a fallacious argument, but it is one that highlights why it's important for the scope to be well defined in the first place and why you should probably stick to the goals of the product, espeically for stuff that isn't finished.3 points

Jesus. Talk about melodrama.... Some of you seriously need to sit back and realise that IT'S. JUST. A. GAME. A very realistic one, I grant you, but some compromises have to be accepted to run on a home PC. The sooner you realise that, accept it, and get just out there and smell the virtual pines, and focus on what DCS does well instead of griping about trees the happier you will be. Are there somne things wrong with DCS? Sure. But there's a helluva lot of right.3 points
-
You can talk a lot about it, but I feel the unspoken thing is more, why do you say "only a game"? Im just reading into those comments obviously, but often it feels like theres a reluctance in accepting in saying that its play. Like, DCS doesnt become less valuable when we admit its a game. When we admit that were playing a game, that were roleplaying a video game fantasy thats not real at all. It doesnt change how close we get to reality, its always a game. People dont just become adults and lose their sense of playfulness, or the need to play. And even the "real jet pilots" dont do that, pretty much nobody becomes a pilot without doing it for fun, besides other things. Just look at the podcast, all those real plots having a sense of humor and joking around, while talking about a game. And theres nothing wrong or to be ashamed about that.3 points
-
Not sure if you´ve seen their videos before ... but calling DCS a game is kind of a running gag, at least on Movers channel, hence his reaction when Wags called it a "sim game" They consider it a game and made that clear in previous videos.3 points
-
Oh boy..... .... I don't even know how to answer that..... That is the whole point here! That is why their input has any value in the first place. That is why they know exactly, no matter how good the game simulate anything it doesn't even come close to the real experience. It just can't. And that is why the whole orthodoxly discussion how "realistic" this or that "gamey" feature is, is utterly pointless.3 points

There's several parts that make VR work well with DCS. The main one is mbucchia if it wasn't for him it would be "NOT' as good. I personally am running DCS and VR with no issues as of today/now. But it is what it is and ain't what it ain't. People get to hooked up on FPS and Frametimes .... get it close and just fly ! M2C3 points

Hi, Jack. Thank you for the reply. You clearly have a lot of passion about this issue. Please allow me to apologize to you for my absurd ignorance. To answer you question though: My CO told me pilots do it - when he had me go down to the hangar bay in 1999 to manup before flying a maintenance profile. I then rode up the elevator to the flight deck in my jet. As you can see in the video below (scroll to 8:50), it was not common, but did happen. But again, I thank you for the information, tactfulness, and setting me straight. Regards.3 points

It's not about easier operation anymore. Most FC3 users fly these aircraft because of the aircraft simulated, which are not available otherwise, with low or no possibility to be made full fidelity in the future. That's why some people ask if that is the possible solution for some more modern redfor.3 points

Hi, without any hint of your used hardware, DCS system settings, DCS Open Beta or Stable, what tools you are using, how you start VR, and so on, you will not get any good answer soon. So I guess the right answer will be 42, as always. It sounds so, you need to do all the stuff you should do every time you run into trouble with DCS (slow repair, delete the metashaders2 and fxo folders, reset OpenXR Toolkit (if used) and so on). If you have already done this, we need !much! more info to help you.2 points

I'll have to go back and check the marketing for where it promised the jet would have advantages over other Gen 4 jets with AIM-120s. Ideally one would fly it because they are interested in what an F-14 is like. If that's not the case and you want to chase the meta, may I be so bold as to suggest the lawn dart?2 points
