One thing that really helps everything come in to focus is getting MFD pages, in all modes, setup the same way on every start up. I switch to each mode, say for example A/G, and load all three pages on both MFD's that I will use. So for A/G mode, Left MFD pages on the bottom I set as TGP - FCR - HAD, Right MFD is SMS - WPN - HSD. Then get good with DMS switch Right and Left to cycle through pages on each MFD, and there's just a lot less mousing and loading of pages in the heat of it. I do the same for every mode, MSL, DGFT, NAV. I like to set the A/A modes with TGP as the second page on Left, just a quick DMS-left and TGP is looking right at whatever I've got locked on the FCR, for example. All of this is done before I taxi. I know that doesn't exactly address A/G mode workflow to put bombs on target, but having the MFD's fully prepared for the A/G workflow, and switching between them with a quick DMS L/R, makes it feel a lot simpler. To me, anyways.6 points

Hi, probably the trim effectiveness is too low at low speed. Please, let me have a check on the code and talk with our pilots who validated the flight model and I will return back to you. Inviato dal mio ASUS_I005D utilizzando Tapatalk4 points

You should go look up the principles behind TDOA, TDOA is Time difference of Arrival, not angular measurements. Each station is receiving and synchronizing the time of arrival of a particular signal and using that time sync to generate a location. With 1 station all you get is a range, thus a circle around your aircraft. 2 stations would give you a pair of potential locations, and 3 stations gives you a very accurate location. This does not work the same way as angle based triangulation systems. Each intersection of a circle is the potential location of the target, only where all three intersect is the true location.3 points

@Northstar98 Great stuff, After I read a few historical papers on the Norway theater and the NATO flank strategy which came into play in the 1980's I had the same idea. Here's a bit of a view towards my WIP. Definitely willing to share. This site, Soviet Armed Forces 1945-1991 (ww2.dk), is awesome for information on the Soviet Order of Battle. The 1990 info is straight out of the CFE Treaty. Also, I've looked a bit at the USAF Orbat for the 1989/90 time period as well: All of the Norwegian airfields: Soviet Air Defenses 1980: Soviet Air Defenses 1989/1990:3 points

Hm, I would say the same about the f18. I think the f16 has a much better workflow. Especially the fact that you can switch very quickly between a/a and a/g. That's not so easy with the f18 And the automatic MFD page memory function in the f16 is also nice.3 points

Good afternoon everyone, Just wanted to let everyone know about a new mini-campaign for the best helicopter in DCS. I'm creating this thread for any feedback, bug reports, etc. because I don't get notified on new Comments in the User Files. The summary: In April of 2022, a Brazilian journalist has been kidnapped near the Ba'ath Dam. You've been hired by a Private Military Company to provide helicopter support and transport to help locate and rescue the journalist. The campaign has full voiceovers with kneeboard pages. It's not meant to be a difficult campaign. As long as you can start up, take off, and land the Huey in FARP-sized landing areas, it will be fine. The difficulty ramps up through the 4 missions, however. If you're interested, here's a link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3334386/ Thanks, and fly safe!2 points

Hi guys, a bug has been found on Mission 2. After the last update, it looks like some of the numbering on the FARP locations has been changed, so you are taking off over a static object, thus resulting in a big crash. You can have the updated version here:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1UYOXNYHdhOaC59nFvaxJ0__T01gLKKQN?usp=drive_link Just replace it in your DCS World\Mods\campaigns\UH-1H The Huey Last Show folder, i will send it to ED to push it in their next update. Also, I introduced some minor tweaks to the AI movement. Cheers, SorelRo2 points

I too would prefer the navy version, purely as the boat adds another dimension and requires a bit more skill than field landings. After-all this is the 60/70’s and real men fly Navy . Still pre-ordered the E though .2 points

extremely strange gameplay where I can fly in VR with 45 fps in the harrier zero stutters extremely smooth. Low level, high altitude. Then all of a sudden I find FPS drop into the 20s, not flying over any built up areas, just low level. Sim is like a slide show, but if I climb above 1,300ft stutters stop, solid 45fps and smooth gameplay. Drop below 1,300ft and then severe stuttering.2 points

Seems like an OK thing for me, even though I don't like anything that desynchs my HMD's motion from my head, but if there are people who appreciate it, why not? That is to say, I can already hear them coming: those perpetually self-victimizing, winning-obsessed PvP players who'll scream "EXPLOIT" and "CHEATER"!!!!!!one Enjoy trying to talk to them2 points

Definitely excited for this! The Hip has quickly become my favorite helicopter in the game even though I only bought it so I could have an alternative to the attack helicopters, thinking I would not fly it much. Whichever map you choose, I’m happy to see more content for this amazing aircraft!2 points

It would be nice to have a random weather selection option in the ME. Just some code that randomly selects from the many awesome selections that we currently have in the game. It certainly would not be as difficult as adding current or dynamic weather but it would add some nice emersion to the game, especially if the random selection happened with each time the mission was started. -Just some new guy....2 points

Great advice. I will use it as soon as I find the best workflow for me for each submode. I'm almost done with all the knowledge items, next step is to start putting them in to practice and see what works well. I have a dozen or so single missions to do, which should mix things up, then post mission I'll review items that felt a bit fuzzy. Then a campaign.2 points

Honesty is the best policy when dealing with punters, locking threads and calling the issue resolved without any meaningful engagment just stinks the place up - I can only imagine how this made the people out there who were genuinely trying to help out with what they thought was a LOD issue / bug feel. Without putting too fine a point on it this whole thing runs a close 2nd to the Hawk debacle which still saddens me to this day - I adore what ED and DCS have done for the combat sim world but treating the community this way simply doesn't fly.2 points

Yeah I agree, should be 3rd person only. The head movement thing is weird when you're not actually moving.2 points
-
It would also require a better suspension model; one that would also work on AI aircraft that land. Otherwise it would look quite weird. It would also have to be 3rd person only, since we all know that especially in VR adding “pilot movement” without the human actually moving is not the best idea. Besides, we already have an option like that in DCS: “pilot head movement according to G forces” or something it’s called (bad idea in VR).2 points

@BIGNEWYAny chance you could check that this reported bug has not been forgotten? Or perhaps report on its current status? Thankfully there is a work around, but it is a nuisance for many players and seems like it should not be a big deal to fix. (I'm referring to the 'Zoom Normal' not have expected effect until one of the work around views is instigated first. There may be other separate issues.)2 points

AOA is displayed in arbitrary "cockpit units" (CPU's), not degrees. If your AOA is about +20, your actual AOA is about 10 degrees IIRC2 points

Using the example you quoted from @davidrbarnette, no way is it quicker to drop a jdam with the Hornet. The Hornets workflow is truly horrible, everything that takes one press in the Viper takes at least 3 in the Hornet. This is not true, any weapon that lets you use CCIP, DTOS or VIS mode (I'm struggling to think of any weapon that you can't use in one of those 3 modes ) does not need a steerpoint anywhere near the target.2 points

The Swooping at 800 kts exceeds the Dash-1 speed limits. Since its difficult in DCS to model exact failures that you might see from an overspeed, the wing snapping is the next best thing to punish players for breaking the limits of the jet. This is not ace combat. The FM was designed to as closely as possible replicate the real limits of the real jet. Otherwise players will exploit these areas if they are not punished. Easy fix: Don't do that. No bug, correct as is!2 points

I stuffed around for ages trying to fix the F10 F1 Frame rate issue. Played with settings for about a week. What worked for me, I renamed my c:\users\%username%\saved games\DCS folder to DCS.old and launched the game. A new DCS folder was created. I then closed the game and replaced all my input settings from .OLD to the new folder .\config\input so I didn't have to remap everything. I did have to reconfigure my trim settings in the special menu. The lag issue is gone for now leading me to believe that the issue is in fact related to something I have setup in there. Likely a mod. Ill slowly re-add things I need and see if I can narrow it down further.2 points
