It's been a really long time since the original release. I know many people consider the plane unfinished, it certainly has it's problems, but overall I think it was great value and it still is. I don't known how many hours I have in it, but more than enough to call it a great buy. I'd like the 2.0 version to be a proper complete overhaul, bringing this beast up to the current standards in all aspects, and I'm very much willing to pay for it! If you'd develop another version as a bonus, even if it's as similiar as a -21MF, I'd be happy to buy it for full module price, if bundled with the 2.0 upgrade of the bis. Classic cold war module production for DCS is booming, and we need the MiG-21 in it's full glory. I hope, there are enough people, who think the same, willing to spend on this holy cause.6 points

The Soviet intervention in Afghanistan lasted from December 25, 1979 to February 15, 1989. It was a period of intensive use of Mi-24 helicopters of various versions. The initial successes and basically unrestricted operation of helicopters in Afghanistan became the basis for this story driven campaign. However, the situation began to change halfway through the Soviet intervention. The campaign tells the story of the crew of helicopter Mi-24P number "17" - Alexander Sokolov (Pilot Commander) and Boris Petrovich (CoPilot-Gunner), who began serving in Afghanistan, Jalalabad AFB in 1984 and the first operation they encountered here was "Operation Panjshir" against the mujahideen forces of Ahmad Shah Masud. The campaign consists of 18 missions but it's not only "set of missions". It's a trip to the 1980s, and one of the most important cases for me was to capture the atmosphere of those years of flying the Mi-24 among the Hindu Kush mountains. Importantly, I have tried to include all possible tasks in which the Soviet Hinds actually participated during this war. So there will be close support missions, there will be search missions, there will be assault missions, bombing missions, transport missions, escort etc. The range of activities is quite wide. I rate the campaign as medium difficult, but you need to know the Hind systems and weapons quite well. The campaign uses the DCS: Persian Gulf map. All speeches are in Russian to raise the level of realism (the translation text is in English). And here is another kind of “revolution” - the whole voice pack were recorded using “AI voices”. It has its advantages and disadvantages for sure, but it's better that they exist, right? I think the final effect I achieved is quite ok (play: example). A quite important element is the entire soundtrack as well, which comes from this period and consists mainly of Soviet songs from Afghan war. It's also worth adding that the campaign received, previously unpublished, own liveries for the Hind - a clover, desert pattern. The campaign is being tested by several users during beta process (including Mi-24V crew member who was flying in Afghanistan). The most important features: over dozen single player missions (lasting from 45 minutes to 2 hours gameplay of each), realistic, detailed scenarios, story driven campaign, proceeding the campaigns as a pilot-commander (no knowledge of the CPG position is required, apart from issuing orders) full voice package in Russian (almost a thousand voice overs), even Petrovich received his role (!), briefings/subtitles in English, various types of missions, including night ones, dedicated skins from period of Afghan war, as real as it gets - cold starts only, you also need to return to the airport after the mission, prepared briefings (description of the situation and tasks), full documentation, graphics and photos most important data in the pilot's kneeboard, summary (including tips and tricks) in the readme file, check it before the flight ;)! FPS friendly (tested in VR too), the campaign "Afghan War: Szatan Arba" is free, the campaign is planned for release in December this year (2023) The campaign is currently in the final stages of production, polishing and testing. Importantly, it will be free, I treat it as my testing ground and also to collect your opinions. If you like my approach, who knows, I have a lot of ideas for the future ;). Note: although the campaign is based on historical events, it of course includes own scenarios. I would also like to add that English is not my native language but I did my best. These are thousands of words! This campaign will be my debut in this topic (campaign thread), but I hope that Hind's & DCS fans will like both - the idea and realization. FAQ. What I need to know before to play this campaign? the basis is knowledge of Hind systems and radios/radio navigations (R-863, R-828, R-852), operating the DISS-15 Doppler System, knowledge how to use all weapons used by Mi-24P from the pilot station, communication management with the flight/wingman (by DCS radio com), management and giving orders Petrovich (by CPG menu), ability to land in casual terrain you need to have DCS: Persian Gulf map and Mi-24P module Can I play this campaign in multiplayer mode? sorry but not, the campaign was created as an Single Player version and due to the number of changes and logic in the missions, it would basically have to be reworked by 50% What do you recommend learning before starting a campaign? Chuck’s guide for Mi-24P is very ok for this (+ training missions in DCS) See you soon for more info! Stay tunned. YoYo More preview screenshots from Szatan Arba campaign: https://photos.app.goo.gl/QE6re75gocHzH5hC8 ⚠ DOWNLOAD LINK ⚠: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3335179/ version 1.0 (12/2023). Please read manual before flying. Support / questions: You can ask any questions or support in this topic. If there is a question about the plot, do not reveal it in a unhidden post, use the "spoiler" option: so that people who haven't completed this mission will have more fun.5 points

Backseat FCR and Hellfire COMING SOON In this DCS: AH-64D video I’d like to offer an example of using the FCR with radar-guided Hellfire from only the backseat. I understand that most players will primarily be using the AH-64D from just the backseat. This video builds upon the earlier FCR videos like FCR controls. I’ll continue the series of more detailed instructional videos on the FCR, but this video is designed for those of you that simply wish to run-and-gun from the backseat while raining down Hellfire. NOTE 1. Yes, we plan to allow George to engage with the FCR, but only after we complete FCR development. NOTE 2. We will later add LINK mode that will slave the TADS to the FCR NTS. NOTE 3. We will add the FCR to the reloading pop-up. NOTE 4. As always, these videos provide a preview of an upcoming feature to assist you in understanding a new feature. Later, it is quite possible that the feature will change, and the feature functionality has changed. As much as I’d like to, I lack the time re-record these videos.5 points

An update for the mod aired now on github's release page: https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv/releases The changelog: P 4 - Add distance lod Maddox - Use new main mast from erwin23p Bon Homme Richard - Improved collision shell and mast texture - Add Skid Marks to flight deck - Add normal texture for flightdeck - Add distance lods, add cranes, add FCR bottom - Hide wires, fix ramping pos - Changed landing pos, changed landing lights - Thicken flight deck collision shell to 30cm - Update README Probably the most noticeable change is that the VSN F-4B can now operate as pilot driven aircraft due to the thickening of the flight deck collision shell. [EDIT: Unfortunately the plane still cannot start when player driven] Please note that there's still a huge open issue with landing of AI aircraft, sometimes the flight will abort repeatedly short of trapping. Reason is unknown and any help welcome! Enjoy, TeTeT5 points

Welcome to the SU-57 Project Simulator (Build 5) coming in a few months to "DIGITAL COMBAT SIMULATOR"! This standalone MOD does not require any additional modules to run; it operates independently, utilizing its own systems. The intricate development process accounts for its extended duration, particularly as we conduct extensive research for accurate simulation. Goals: 1. Realistic Flight Dynamics: Aiming to faithfully replicate the aircraft's flight characteristics by considering its aerodynamic design, engine performance, and handling qualities. However, certain advanced capabilities are limited due to the current lack of comprehensive data. 2. High-Fidelity Cockpit: Detailed cockpit modeling, featuring functional displays, switches, and controls for an immersive pilot experience. Yet, some aspects are constrained by data limitations. 3. Realistic Sounds: Authentic audio effects, encompassing engine sounds, weapon releases, and communication systems, to heighten the simulation's realism. 4. Basic Stealth and DCIRM Simulation: Countermeasures against radar and heat-seeking missiles, simulating stealth capabilities to a fundamental level. 5. Supercruise Abilities: Capable of reaching speeds up to Mach 1.3 without reliance on afterburners. Please note that due to the classified nature of this aircraft, our research is conducted publicly for the Mod's development. Expectations of 100% realism may not be met, but our objective remains to approach this realism as closely as possible. Your patience and support during this evolutionary journey are appreciated. The project commenced in 2016. Best regards, CubanAce5 points

Hello! I would like to announce a new campaign for the Mi-24P. FPS friendly (tested in VR too), the campaign "Afghan War: Szatan Arba" is free, the campaign is planned for release in December this year out! Full info, you can find in Mi-24P corner:4 points

Hello, I recently saw this post https://www.reddit.com/gallery/18f8njf with an update on the CAP from Deka. Like many others, I was very interested in the WIP Hunting Eagle asset and was sad to see it's "on hold". I understand that the J-8 is probably all hands on at the moment, but I just wanted to say that this asset would actually be an incredible addition to DCS and would open up a ton of awesome gameplay possibilities. I really hope Deka is able to continue work on this asset soon and bring it to DCS World.3 points

I have wonderful news! I have FIXED Malta! Both ai and Player may now spawn upon the Island! Took forever to find the error of my ways! Live and learn. Get killed at times in sim! Restart, Go again! Now that this is fixed, The releasing shall commence! As each is cleaned up, and then re tested one final time. and finally zipped for posting. Fix screens! Now, the entire Malta time period may be simulated, from beginning to end! In the Spitfire cockpit! The Island of Malta! Please note, This is in no way meant to represent the real thing. It is my interpretation and creation using the models available. 8K textures were used for the Island. More info upon release!3 points

They'll certainly need to finish the F4U first, no way around that, but that can be a good thing as well, as that could generate a nice amount of income for the company, more resources for the next projects. Interesting plane, I'll buy that as well. What I really don't want them to do, is to handle a potential free MiG-21 2.0 upgrade as kind of a side project in between the new modules. I hope, that it is planned as main project, and for that, it needs to generate proper income. That is why I'd like to communicate my willingness to pay for it. I hope there are enough potential customers, like me, to support this route.3 points

Yes you are just limited 1. You have NVG, set them to lowest gain, use cockpit lights at lowest setting, and if needed set auto range to manual source so that ASP-17V doesn’t light up. NVG isn’t so useful for targeting, but it is good for orientation 2. You have illumination rockets. They will illuminate about 3.5 km away, and take 7.7 seconds of flight before they deploy the flare and 1 second to light the deployed flare. You want to fire around 10-12 degrees up at low altitude (0-250m), 5 degrees around 300m, and level at around 500-600m. It is most useful to have a wingmen use them while you attack, but you can also have your periscope open, fire illumination rockets then go back to MSL/OFF so you can fire ATGM as soon as they light up. If not just open periscope as soon as you fire the flares so that the 10 seconds for gyros to spin up are used while the flare is flying 7.7 seconds and the 1 second it takes to release and light the flare at the end of its 3.5 km journey. They will only light up for 35 seconds, and you may need to fire early and fire several in sequence until you get them perfectly over the target. If needed you can have illumination rockets on one side and regular rockets on the other and switch sides 3. Full moon night is easiest. New moon is very difficult. It’s a bit gamey but you can also increase gamma to make it easier to see. Use your landing and taxi lights for takeoff and landing! Just turn them off while flying becuase it makes it easier for AI to spot you 4. the only targets you can really attack are either pre planned targets, or targets that are shooting at you with tracers. Once you’ve blown up one target in the area, it gets easier using its fire and smoke as a reference It’s not easy or made for night, but using the above methods and other things you can be somewhat effective at night in the right situations3 points

Dear friends and pilots. Our team continues to work to improve the project. We are trying to move towards the tasks outlined in our roadmap. New airfields have already been modeled and are ready for testing (15 pieces). We are working to improve the quality of objects, trying to pay attention to detail. More than 70 new unique objects out of 100 planned are already ready and jute will soonmeeting with users. We are also working on the Tel Aviv and Jerusalem scenes in Israel. In Egypt we are working on Cairo and Alexandria. We will work with @cfrag to mark new unique scenes and objects in his perfect mission: I will share screenshots of new objects. Thank you for your understanding and patience.3 points

I basically stopped at some point last year. There were just too many insurmountable AI problems. I could never get the AI to do what I envisioned DCE to be. Instead I have been actually flying a lot more for the last 1.5 years and had a good time. I spend a lot of time in multiplayer, for example on Enigma. But after many years of trying hard, I basically abandoned the belief that a realistic (semi-)historical scenario "grand campaign" is possible with DCS.2 points

it would really be amazing to see more light antitank aircraft as unique as this ingame, hopefully it can be made in the near future as it has some strong potential to open up some very interesting new gameplay possibilities for the red side especially2 points

Exceptional, a well done video. But above all, it was really exciting to see the stresses and performances of the F-4E during the airshow maneuvers. When I saw the first few minutes of the startup, it seemed like a dream. I never imagined I would enjoy tow-starter tractor assists in starting an F-4E (and in the future also an F-14 ). You at HB are doing a great job!!! Now all you have to do is grant us the privilege of flying on such a masterpiece.2 points

While I definitely would like to see more factions in DCS, I hope that if this should ever come, we (us code heads) will get sufficient advance warning. I foresee that >90 of all code that deals with factions will break (and the fact that an airfield can return faction = 3 for 'contested' status does not help). So I'm hoping for a 'faction API' to come to DCS, and a 1-year-plus transition phase if it comes.2 points

go to CH's website. and click "Primary download" for the country you want, then when you get redirected to dropbox and click the big "download" button. it will literally download that entire map. so for Russia, if i click primary download, and then the big download button. it downloads all the Russian mods listed there, in one go. example2 points

The bomb release order is set in the jets PACS and unchangeable. It always releases in the order aft inboard, forward inboard, aft outboard, forward outboard, middle outboard, middle inboard. This maintains the best CG balance and avoids an aft CG condition which is far less desirable than a forward CG condition. If a station is not loaded then it is skipped in the sequence. If you have both CFTs selected and a Ripple Single program then it always starts with the Left CFT first. The situation presented at the top is a bug, Ripple multiple should take the quantity of weapons to be released and divide it by number of stations selected, and thats how many release pulses are sent, rounded up. So in the example given above 5 bombs should have released at once; one from each of the selected stations. If the quantity had been 10, it would have only ended up releasing 7 bombs (because there is only one bomb on three of the selected stations) If however you had the CFTs only selected and had set a qty of 3, then 4 bombs would be released, since its 3 bombs divided by 2 stations would be 2 pulses sent to the two selected stations, so 4 bombs would be released.2 points

The training mission gets hung because the rocket pods are on the wrong station. Mission proceeds fine until right before making first attack run and you are asked to switch to DMS page and push buttons 8 and 18 to turn them off. The training gets stuck there. I created a loadout with the rocket pods on the correct stations, restarted the mission, reloaded on the ramp, load DMS, and then the training mission continued to the end. Currently LAU-68 M-151 HE on stations 3,4,8,9 Mission overlays expects LAU-68 M-151 HE on stations 2,3,9,10 Secondary note: the CCIP circle and CCIP gun cross reticles are not visible flying level at the assigned altitude of 6000' going to waypoint 2. Since the narrator is describing the various reticles something needs to be fixed. (The 4,8,12 circle and 4K cross reticles are visible) Open Beta DCS/2.9.1.48335 (x86_64; Windows NT 10.0.22621)2 points

This. People grossly underestimate the work that'd go into an FC3 level module, assuming it'd be so much less despite ED and 3rd Party developers making it pretty clear that it isn't that much less than a full fidelity product.2 points

Yeah, going to the DoD saying you want the manual because Iran might not fly the F-14 anymore is probably not gonna get you anywhere unfortunately. That's actually a really important point many people forget. A lot of systems you don't need the exact details for, just how it should look and feel. Like you say, it's a simulation it's not rebuild it IRL.2 points

The Pantsir 57E6 family of missiles are command guided, so you will only get an warning when locked on by the Pantsir radar. Unfortunately, the Pantsir also have an electro-optical sight which it can use at short ranges. And those won't give you a radar warning. Your will need some sort of Missile Approach Warning System (MAWS) to detect incoming missiles of this kind. Or your head on a swivel and very sharp eyes.2 points
