  1. Dear all, we would like to take the opportunity and thank you for your kind and tremendous support! You are simply the best community there is and we could not feel more blessed with all the enthusiasm you showed us and the very kind patience you give us - we do not take it for granted, and we take the responsibility it puts on us very seriously. 2023 has been an overall great year, despite some shortcomings and delays, we had hoped to have the early F-14A out by now, for example, but our promises to you of course remain and we will not stop working hard and doing our best until we fulfilled all of them. With the F-4 on the horizon - and many great things cooking in the background - we hope that we can up our game even more during 2024 and to finally also make good on the still remaining items for all our modules. What remains to say is that we wish you all a Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year 2024. We wish you, your families and loved ones peace, health, prosperity and success in whatever you do, and thank you for being a part of this journey - a journey that we feel has many new and great stops ahead for all of us in the future. Thank you all from the entire Heatblur Team. Onwards and upwards! (screenshot: Yae Sakura, from last year's christmas screenshot competition.)

  3. Secondary download links added I've added secondary download links to all asset packs. They are at Google Drive and will probably not hold for long, but hey, it's better than nothing. Until the Dropbox thing is sorted.

  4. Dear Dangerzone, First, let me start by saying I am very sorry this thread went unnoticed for so long. It is an important issue and your detailed and thoughtful post deserved a response, finally after discussing it with management, here we are. Second, this type of feedback is what we look forward to and makes it tougher that I missed this for so long. The answer will be much shorter but please I hope you do not see it a disregard of all your points but rather that we at ED have been seeing what's been going on running two release versions. So the answer is this... The Open Beta and Stable system of the released will be fully reworked. The process will be changed and all our customers will receive only one version of DCS. Now I do not have any more details than this right now and of course no timeline. But this is the direction we will be headed in the future. Thanks once again for the feedback, hope you and yours have a wonderful Holiday Season! NineLine/Norm

  5. I wish you all a wonderful Christmas holidays and all the best for the New Year! First of all, I want to thank you all for your comments and likes. This year has been influenced by my work on Tornado a lot. Some things unfortunately didn't work out as I had planned but some did and I had time to work on. Just like this year, for the next year I have a plan of what things need to be done and what I want to work on, step by step. I really appreciate your interest in this aircraft and I as always I try to do my best to bring you the joy and experience of flying this airplane at DCS. Once again, my thanks to you, and I wish that the next year will be successful not only for me but also for you!

  7. Is there a counter how many christmas-website-bulbs have been destroyed? I mean, as mil-simers we need damage assessment to know how battle effectiv we are I wish you all a good time and much fun!

  8. In this DCS: AH-64D video, we’ll discuss sending and receiving attack results over the datalink for better coordination between flight members. Once the battle is over, the flight lead can collect BDA Reports, or Battle Damage Assessments. As you probably noticed, each time you fire a missile, a green X appears on the FCR page, and on the TSD page if you have it set to Attack phase. These represent target locations that have been engaged with missiles, which you then review on the TSD SHOT page. It’s important to understand that these reports only indicate that a missile has been fired at a target, it does not indicate if the target was actually destroyed. In the second half of this video, we’ll discuss how to set FCR contacts as Target Points and ways to slave the TSD to an FCR-identified target. To view my own SHOT file, I’ll press COORD at T5, then press SHOT at T6. Each target location that I shot a missile at will display its corresponding target symbol, the missile type as RF for a radar-guided missile, SAL for a laser-guided missile, the time that I launched the missile, and the coordinates of the target. Note that these locations are recorded for all missiles, regardless of whether they were radar-guided or laser-guided variants, and regardless of whether I engaged with the FCR or the TADS. However, an Unknown square symbol will always be displayed for any engagements that are performed using the TADS, since only the FCR is able to classify a target type. If I want to send my SHOT file to another flight member, I can do so on the TSD Report page. I select the main TSD page, select RPT at T1, and select BDA at L1. I have several options to choose from. I can send my own SHOT file to my Primary members by selecting OWN, or I can send ALL SHOT files on board my aircraft. When ALL is selected, the BDA report will include my own SHOT file as well as any other SHOT files that I’ve received from other flight members, allowing me to forward them to other flights as necessary. Alternatively, I can request a BDA report from my teammate in the other aircraft, which I’ll do by toggling the MSG type from SEND to RQST (Request), select his callsign, and then press SEND. His system will automatically send me the data in reply to my request. Now, you can see additional green X symbols that are displayed in a dim green, which represent the locations that he has engaged. If I return to the SHOT page, I can now see entries that are labeled as “DL”, for datalink SHOT files, in addition to my own SHOT file entries labeled as “OWN”. If I wanted to delete any SHOT file entries received over the datalink, I can press the DEL button on the left side. But I can’t delete any of my own. I also want to go over how to store FCR targets as TSD Target points. This can be particularly useful if you intend to gather reconnaissance data on enemy positions which you intend to send to other AH-64D’s or to bring back with you for follow-on missions. Since the FCR data is overwritten after each scan, storing FCR targets in this manner can be a small but crucial capability that can pay dividends for large-scale missions. NOTE 1. Yes, we plan to allow George to engage with the FCR, but only after we complete FCR development. Also, once the FCR is complete, we will add new datalink functions between aircraft. For now, AH-64D to AH-64D datalink is multiplayer-only. NOTE 2. We will later add LINK mode that will slave the TADS to the FCR NTS. NOTE 3. We will add the FCR to the reloading/refueling pop-up. This is currently planned for the January 2024 Open Beta update but is subject to change based on testing. NOTE 4. As always, these videos provide a preview of an upcoming feature to assist you in understanding a new feature. Later, it is quite possible that the feature will change, and the feature functionality has changed. As much as I’d like to, I lack the time re-record these videos.

  9. Primary download links are online again! I still haven't got a confirmation from Dropbox though, so I don't know if it's temporary until the quota is filled again, or if they're up permanent. Something tells me that we'll probably find out soon enough.

  11. TLDR – It is still worth it, I would recommend it, it is a significant upgrade for G2 owners with sufficient hardware to drive it. I would also not pay too much attention to the fact that I have written as much bad/ugly as I have "Good", the Good's more than make up for any inconveniences The Good A lot has been said about, the colours and clarity so I won’t refresh them here, except in summary, it is very very good, and the best of what you have read elsewhere is true. I will add that the new “dots" work perfectly. What I wasn’t expecting was the improvement in motion smoothing, and whilst these still have artefacts they are massively improved, I mean fractional with much smoother transitions between 90/45/30. When set to automatic, this is just the best of all world’s. What floored me though, was latency, either I have become a much better pilot (of course I am the best virtual fighter pilot who has ever sat in an arm chair) or the latency is just revolutionary, for example I always struggled with the tomcat holding it on speed in the pattern, my movements on the throttle always felt… “Jagged” not any more… This for me more than the edge to edge clarity(also I can read the warning lights on the tomcat) is a huge upgrade. I always thought the tracking in the G2 was OK, the tracking in the Aero is again a massive leap forwards, I have two tracking stations, though in practice I only needed one, on two poles and is spot on, no shaking or jerking. The native software is good, simple to use, the installation very straightforward, as is Varjo Foveated by mbucchiea, once you understand what’s going on (you need to read). XrNeckSafer still works and is in my opinion essential. I was pleasantly surprised by the included in ear headphones, with built in microphone, the are comfortable and work well, the sound quality is good enough for me. The Bad OK, the elephant in the room, vertical FOV… Sigh… I miss my vertical FOV, it does make a difference… But it’s more psychological than real. Whilst in a knife fight, you could maintain eye contact with a target in your peripheral vision at the top or glance down at the bottom to instruments in the G2, at best in G2 you would have gotten an ‘impression’ of something. Whereas with the Aero you can actually see, what is there, clearly, albeit in a smaller space. I am currently playing with XrNeckSafer to see if I can use some of the vertical options available to improve my experience. Reds, the native red colour experience is bad, it is like an extra third dimension, there is a fix for this available here, with a password of 5bXDBm4h4O, which you can load a batch file to fix or the GUI available here. Power Up, there is no power button for the headset, and if you leave it powered on when the software loads from boot, it forces you to power down the headset and restart it. I have installed 3 smart plugs connected to Alexa to switch on and off the headset and trackers. It’s different, lots of delta and unlearning from WMR and the G2, we can put this into the “toughen up buttercup” class and move on. The white square, the way the Aero works is there is a square in the middle has a higher pixel density than the periphery, this square moves with your eyes meaning where ever you look is perfectly clear, however in some lighting conditions (snow or cloud) this square is quite visible, my understanding is this is a DCS only problem. I have yet to find a fix for it. I had purchased my hardware optimised for single threaded performance, (12700k) to use the eye tracking features (Varjo Foveated) you need to make sure you have enough CPU headroom, I moved most of the Varjo Processes over to the efficiency cores which were largely unused keeping only varjo base and any process that was defaulting as High CPU priority on the performance cores. I am using performance lasso for this. Whilst the inbox headphones are fine, I do miss the convenience of my G2’s, but to be honest it is a truly minor issue. The Ugly For me the worst thing is the comfort, the G2 fit my head like a glove, this was luck of facial geometry, I was not so lucky here, and I was in a lot of discomfort in dogfights looking up and the left and right, this problem was “fixed” by replacing the native pad with a small 10mm foam pad for the G2, which also pushed my eyelashes back from my lenses (I use the inserts from vropticians as I need corrective lenses).

  12. @Massun92 May i make a suggestion, in your DB files you have the shape and textures mounted in the individual unit lua's. you can remove them from there since you also have them in the entry.lua. As such the DCS log is throwing warnings for them already being mounted. (ie. shapes is already mounted to the same mount /models/.). I have been editing them locally to clean up the log for myself and thought it would be a good idea to bring it to your attention. great mod and always looking forward to the updates.

  17. When in MANUAL elevation control, the MAN TRK on the TEDAC can be used for antenna elevation (if TADS power ON and FCR is selected sight), as can the arrows on the FCR screen. AUTO uses the aircraft's radar altitude to point the radar. When in AUTO mode, the radar elevation is supposed to be such, that the minimum range the radar scans at is 500m. This assumes a ground plane at the radar elevation of the aircraft. So when sitting on a hill and looking down into a valley, the minimum range will be pushed further away and the radar may scan above targets if they are too close. In ATM (Air Target Mode), elevation control is always manual and defaults to 3° up. In TPM (Terrain Profile Mode), the elevation is always static but can be selected between near and far modes where the elevation is static at -0.5° for FAR, which provides early warnings out to 2500m for high terrain and obstacles and -3° for NEAR for warnings out to 1000m. The sector scan size in TPM is dependent on air speed. For 0-55kt is is 180°. Down to and above 45 once triggered by 55kt it's 90° and fixed to center line. I spent a whole 30 seconds to make this helpful illustration.

  18. I for one am a fan of the new distribution method. It makes things cleaner on my end and makes life easier for CH at the other, opening up time for potential future development of mods rather than endless admin (which let's be honest, is what we all want). Speaking of future development, I'm wondering CH, if there is a prospective German Frigate on the horizon to add to the Germany asset pack? Wishing you a very merry Christmas and a restful new year.

  19. So here' the deal, JHMCS doesn't fit in the F-22 cockpit for all pilots. That's why Scorpion helmet mounted display was evaluated for Raptor (not sure if it was ever integrated). Back in '08 or '09 when I was at Eddy's patch the -9X was integrated into Raptor. FWIW, I saw the accident A/C takeoff that crashed on a -9X sortie that killed the test pilot, so the missile has been integrated for some time. The HMD functionality has not been since USAF thought the LO capabilities of the Raptor were good enough not to require the need of a HMD.

  22. From the soviet side, tons of documents are available on ECM/EW/Sam stuff well past VN... Literally manuals are out there for all of the single digit soviet sams, with EW stuff baked in. Same for red ARM's, same for jammers like the 141, etc. The way ED/DCS handles sams/ECM overall is generally really bad and mostly IMO it is not a documentation problem, its a developer/talent problem. I mean, when your "simulator" can't simulate clouds, how good is it gonna do with more complex things.

Enjoy! Ground AI Development Progress 2023 saw several improvements to AI ground units in both game performance and behavior. To enhance game performance, AI anti-aircraft artillery (AAA) calculations were optimized and large missions with many ground units now take advantage of the performance gains afforded by multi-threading. Multiplayer was also improved with the synchronization of artillery impact points. Route following of both ground and naval units is important and further improvements will be delivered in early 2024. Ground units saw some welcome additions such as the ability to load and unload infantry units, the ability for the AI to select between ammunition types more wisely, new reloading sounds, and new voice over audio for player-controlled ground units using Combined Arms. Radar-directed air defense gun systems got improved target trajectory prediction modeling and the new C-RAM and SA-10 SAM now default to RED alert status with no assigned route. These efforts will continue in 2024 with more natural and randomized spacing of units in a column, improved ground unit suspension modeling over rough terrain, improved counter-battery tactics for indirect fire systems, new and improved air defense unit responses to anti-radiation missile attack, and more realistic damage modeling and visual effects to ships. DCS in 2023 2023 in Retrospect 2023 was a big year for both Eagle Dynamics SA and our 3rd party partners. Much of our work focused on improving the DCS core with important enhancements and bug fixes. Some of the more notable core improvements included: Multithreading. This has allowed DCS to better utilize multiple CPU cores to provide much improved performance for most players. Players can now crank up their graphic details and/or achieve higher frame rates in 2D and VR. DLSS and FSR. Deep Learning Super Sampling and FX Super Resolution (FSR) were also added in 2023 to further improve game performance. Combined with multithreading, 2023 has seen the most significant performance increase in DCS history. Enhanced Voice Chat. Voice Chat received substantial improvements in 2023 with the addition of a better interface, enhanced stability, and communication options. Improved procedural grass distribution tech was implemented to look more natural adding better shading with ambient occlusion and more realistic traction to wind and rotor blast. Other important DCS core improvements included a new datalink architecture systems across several aircraft platforms, enhancements to weapon modeling, new visual target sighting options, improved Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) modeling, the addition of new weapon types, updated air-to-air radar modeling, new and improved models for several AI-only units, multiplayer performance and stability improvements, new liveries, multicrew improvements, many new and free missions, several new pilot models, and enhancements to the Mission Editor, to name just a few. In addition to these DCS core improvements, 2023 saw the release of many exciting DCS modules and campaigns that included the F-15E from RAZBAM, the Mirage F1 EE and BE from Aerges, the Normandy 2 map from Ugra Media, the Sinai map from OneReTech, and many fantastic campaigns. 2023 also saw continued development and improvements across numerous aircraft, maps, assets, and campaigns. In the spirit of the season, we wish you a Merry Christmas filled with joy, warmth, and memorable moments. Thank you for being a part of our family. DCS is a community-driven project, and your passion fuels our dedication to delivering a world-class simulation. As we navigate towards the skies of 2024, exciting developments lie ahead. Thank you for your passion and support. 27. For anyone interested and for future reference. I did some testing and found that the issue occurs when an object is placed very close to the DCS ground, the proximity of the two surfaces will create the strange effect mentioned in this thread. I found that the issue can be fixed by unchecking the 'Shadow caster' in the material settings before exporting.

  29. No, I mean changing from A 10 to F16, for example, or exiting the mission and entering in again or in a new one. At least for me Saludos. Saca111

  30. Yep, it's by my design. It's suppose to have 990 rounds, where 385 are ready rounds. But I focused on implementing bursts since DCS AI waste too much ammo on its own.

  31. Но если ручные танцы с бубном (типа привязки процесса к конкретным ядрам) для DCS действительно работают, то, наверное, это можно как-то внутри DCS автоматизировать и не заставлять заниматься юзера?

  32. HI @Biggles81 The mail is badger633campaigns@gmail.com You are correct the mission fails as soon as the first vehicle is destroyed. The problem is a recent DCS update appears to have corrupted the trigger in some way. Anyway it is fixed now and will be updated in the next DCS update. Thanks for the heads up

  33. The Mi-8 is the ONE module, where everything just works. Switching pilot seats during flight without messing up the controls/ trim? Check. Trimming without wobbles? Check. Operating all switches and dials from any seat? Check. I can’t see a problem here either. If we are talking about SP. The player impersonates all two or three crew members anyway (afaik the flight engineer/middle seat is often unoccupied in real life).

  34. There is one thing that everyone seems to be ignoring. Just because you can see it, does not mean it will give usable radar signal back. Ground clutter is a thing

  36. Not true. The point of stabilizing fins, particularly large stabilizing fins are to provide stabilization in flight. Weapons requiring spin stabilization typically are unguided and have small fins specifically for imparting the rotational force or, in the case of most gun and cannons, have no fins but require rifling in the barrel to spin the round as it is fired. Fins that create spin also impart drag which reduces range. Spin is undesirable for weapons like guided bombs. Spin is of particular importance for unguided rockets, most CBU's and smaller missiles like the RIM-116, many SACLOS radio command guided missiles and various dumb bombs. Pertaining to the GBU-24, the offset rear stabilizers are not there to promote spin, the pop out surfaces needed to be of a wider chord on this particular weapon to provide better flight dynamics for its intended low altitude release parameters. The Air Force found that the larger surfaces caused clearance issues on the aircraft it was intended to be used on so the fins were offset symmetrically to allow for the fitment of the wide chord stabilizers. This offset, and the resulting spin, has a negative effect on the range of the weapon but, fortunately, the proportionate guidance system used on the GBU-24 was capable of dampening the rotational forces once it had a laser to lock on to. Basically, the offset stabilizing fins were a compromise to make it work. For Snake Eye, they don't always spin the same way or sometimes even spin at all so I think that has more to do with manufacturing defects in the fin kits or irregularities in the bomb build up than with any spin stabilizing intent. I wouldn't expect that kind of randomness to be high on ED's priority list.

  37. How about this.. I volunteer @SPAS79 to maintain the Git repository for ya @Draken35.. . Seriously though, would it be acceptable to you for someone to drop your updates to the mod to a Git page just to help people find it easier or do you prefer to just leave it here in the forums? Someone (like oh.... I don't know.. SPAS79) can do the grunt work and everyone wins! I've been updating my YouTube video links to point to the latest in the forum as you post updates to help people find the latest. Thanks again for the mod! I use it daily!

  38. Great to hear that. Do you know what Microsoft's announcement means for WMR Headset owners? Will our headsets be bricked or will there be a work around when the new Windows version is rolled out?

  41. Hi NineLine, Firstly, no need to apologise. I'm very grateful that you've taken the time to take my letter to management and that you have responded with information. Thank you! It's encouraging to see that the challenges server administrators are facing is being considered at management and reworks are in the making. I also appreciate that they are allowing you to be transparent with your response, so we know that there's changes in the making. I fully understand there's no timelines - just knowing that there won't be a continual cycle of what we've seen this year is encouragement enough for now! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas too, and a safe new year! Cheers DZ

  43. They can be donated from C2 assets as MIDS surface points, much like you can see the ground designation of your wingman on the SA page. The C2 asset can create a surface point, and assign attributes to it (e.g. SA-10, hostile), and so the point will show a red 10, with a red, dashed circle. If the RWR picks it up and correlates it, the circle becomes solid. And because it's a MIDS point, you can TUC it and get relevant info, as well as hide it from the SA display subpage (which we don't have).
