Hey guys, Minor update to the mod today. I added the requested thumbnails with yellow outline for the cloud presets. This makes it easier to find the mod preset versus the default ones. 10/11/2024 - Updated to version 11 - Updated cloud preset thumbnails. The Mod thumbnails are now outlined in yellow for better visibility. Thanks to forum user ggrewe for help with this. - Fixed issue with cloud presets being out of order9 points

Thats a different Mod - these liveries are for the MOD HELICOPTER E SERIES JSGME 2.8..1.7.zip by the Cuesta Brothers, it has several helo's in it but I only use this one. I have not done anything for any of the others. I cant find it right now - I have only been able to get into this forum twice in the last 8 hours - and usually only for a few minutes at a time - it keeps telling me Too Many Connections !!!!!4 points

Forum seems exessively slow and sometimes not responding at all since 2 or 3 days. @BIGNEWY; something going on in the background? (something seems wrong, as I don't have any issues with other websites)3 points

So players are currently able to check their six under these conditions: I know this is a game, but 'G-effects' option should include limiting the abilities that will literally break your neck in reality. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/14736136/3 points

Small collection of new and updated liveries for the Helicopter Mod 2.8.1.7. The UK Defence Helicopter Flying School use a version of the As350 but not this version, so I cant add the name along the side of the doors, there are windows in the way. Pack contains an updated version of the French Naval Helo, new roundel, panel markings. Also a number of blank versions to do with as you wish. Correction to Pack - Forgot to add in the parked versions, new link below. There are a couple of small texture errors in this pack, textures I could not find in the original folder, the mirrors on the nose will always be white, and I could not find the badge on the hat either, but not all that noticable really. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/pektv6gc7ilbpl8lvh98j/CrazyEddies-Liverties-ECUREUIL-As350.zip?rlkey=3ckzfp6lzqnd6e5hdbp5c11xv&st=zrerwueu&dl=03 points

It's now two years and four months since I first reported this. See my screenshot, taken yesterday. As soon as I call inbound to the carrier, the wingman's flaps start behaving in a way it should not be possible. It really looks awful and I think it's a bummer there hasn't been a fix for this. It's a good question on what kind of realism do we seek. This thread is only about whether the flight performance agrees with publicly available data, which are scarce at best and limited to a few public NASA papers and GAO reports. It surely doesn't suggest that we should seek for a real life 1:1 copy, or even we know that the remaining large portion of non-public part is accurate at all. These scarce public data points aren't classified specs or obscure details, but rather fundamental performance (SEP) characteristics. I believe replicating these accurately should be the bare minimum for a module that prides itself on FM realism and sold for 80 bucks. Still, the ongoing extensive FM review and rework suggests that ED are open to enhancing accuracy when presented with compelling evidence, even if perfect replication isn't the goal.3 points

May I suggest a solution that helped me a lot coping with less exciting Newsletters: Just dust off an aircraft you already own and „git gud“. Time much better spent than complaining .. …and those pile of shame aircraft need some love too! Youtube was MUCH better when they showed the real downvote quota. That’s sure.3 points

Guys, we do weekly newsletters, I do not see many game companies that do this. Due to this frequency, we cannot have blockbuster news every time. If you don't like an article in the newsletter that is fine, but others might, I know our livery contests are very popular. So if there is a news item you don't care for, move on to the next, if there is none you care for, wait for next week, there is always a new newsletter just seven days or less later. Thanks.3 points

its a competition not a job, its for fun. Many talented people create liveries for free in DCS and I am sure we will see many great entries.3 points

After patch 2.9.8.1107, trying to disable Improved Spotting Dots no longer works in OPTIONS > GAMEPLAY > Improved Spotting Dots. When the setting it turned OFF, the "Improved Spotting Dots" still occur making it possible to see targets 40nm away with a blue box around them. Close targets are worse as they look like large black squares. Ensuring to click OK, restarting DCS, selecting different missions, restarting the PC and VR make no difference. You get the same horrible "Improved Spotting Dots" if the option in GAMEPLAY is set to OFF or ON. Please fix as soon as possible as this is horrible looking in VR. Below are images of it with it On and Off in the F/A-18 1v1 mission:2 points

The up aileron does precisely the same thing as a spoiler which is why every pilot everywhere is taught to keep the stick neutral in the roll axis at high AoA/Stall recovery.2 points

Ill have a look at ur track on Monday :) The effect seen in ur video is that of a jamming target. Something or someone must be jamming - or its a bug. Probably easy to tell with the track, so thanks for that [emoji106]2 points

This is false. I'm looking at both mods' content and I don't see any less textures in CGTC, on the contrary (even if excluding the LOW textures - which is not a small factor). They also sure don't look like lower quality to me. What I haven't done for CGTC is a separate "snowless winter / later autumn" optional, which is a nice alternative that Bartek left for those who dislike a (white) snowy winter. I mainly kept with the default ED theme for Caucasus seasons, goal was "Caucasus overhaul" after all. This is also false, in both accounts. I'm looking at both mods' content and I don't see any "brighter/darker" textures either. Actually, I'm surprised how close they are (not same, but closer than expected). What I definitely see is an implementation of Reshade with own settings in Bartek's that, yes, change vibrance, tones and shading - this influences immensely. CGTC is meant to be used with Gamma set at 2.0 (avoid less than 1.8 or more than 2.2). It is so because that specific value is usually the most balanced for both monitors and VR, for all terrains and atmosphere related shaders. (IIRC, used to be default in early 2.55 OB) CGTC has its own specifically tweaked palette and shading settings and files (which look different, and also darker than stock), so that such aspect isn't dependant on external applications (like Reshade, or SweetFX). The use of Reshade on top of it was not intended but, if you want to do it, that is up to you. I also don't see where the "superior" towns and buildings (Hardsplat) textures come from. They're the same. I'm looking at them one by one right now and they are the same ones seen in "stock Caucasus" that I prepared for ED (brought back and rebuilt from the older 1.5 ones for the release of 2.7 OB years back, still in stock content today). And are same ones that I still included (just tone readjusted) in CGTC. What is obvious is the different art style and techniques adopted by each different mod, for certain aspects, when placed in the game. Which has to do with personal preference and taste. And this is why mixxing both mods is a bad idea - things look mismatched in places then. To some extent, similar can be said for the usage of reshade (or none usage of it). All in all, it is definitely dependable on individual - given that the choice is there, use what you prefer. My question to @Art-J and @dlder now is: Are you sure you tried the latest version of CGTC (2.84) over stock Caucasus, not the older releases (before May of 2023) ?2 points

The RCS of Iskander missiles is large enough for the Patriot radar to detect them at a distance. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have already shot down many Iskanders. It is clear that with a mass launch, when saturation occurs, the air defense may lose.2 points

^ This. DCS is just an hollywood Game, then don't expect realism. Actually, the mig29 flies like a sausage, no stability on the yaw axis, do some slight rudders inputs and see what happens, even a simple roll input causes an over-reaction of the yaw axis. And the drag coefficient, lol, with an AOA angle>12° the MIG is a lot more draggy than a delta wing jet like the Mirage 2000, just hilarious FM. In DCS the MIG-29 is not a competitor in Dogfight, funny isn't it.2 points

I did my whole Mods/Terrains folder with it and observed no change in quality at 1440p. I did up the minTexSize to 2048 though. Yeah don't do that, some textures do require the 32-bit format. I think if you search for "-f DXT5" and just delete it everywhere it should default back to the original format of the texture, don't quote me on that though. Editing terrain textures is still very untested and i only posted that config as a playing ground.2 points

Update Ocober 11, 2024 - 1: TTI SP v2.6.1b (HOTFIX) Fixed an issue where Ground and Sea Convoys were not spawning correctly Fixed an issue that "Single Mission Mode" would not work if there is only one type of mission in the mission type pool, since it originally tried to avoid spawning the same mission type twice in a row. Removed the setting "firstRandomSingleMission" as it is not needed, choosing the first single mission type resulted in a script error, so this setting is no longer in use. Updated Mission Briefing to properly link to third-party scripts; CTLD, CSAR and EWR BigEye. Any and all new features above have been updated in detail in the TTI SP Tutorials and Guides Documentation: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/177ydPq1tJsOli7tKKKAuPxybfOw2yAo5 --- HOTFIX Manual Fix (For those comfortable with script replacement and mission editor use that have already set up setting and custom setups in the miz file for v2.6.1a) This hotfix mainly fixes CONVOY related missions, and all that is needed to fix is to extract Ground Missions.lua and Trigger List SP.lua from the miz in this update (v2.6.1b) and load them into the your v2.6.1a miz (recommend to use 7zip to extract) Additionally as mentioned, the setting "firstRandomSingleMission" is no longer in use. Setting this setting will not do anything nor will it break any script, but just understand that this no longer points to any script so it does not do anything and can be deleted.2 points

Why there is only a "Like" and a "Thanks" as reaction to posts? I really need at least a thumbs down for this kind of nonsense, as it is now the only reaction I can have is to ignore the guy2 points

SMUDGE 12 O'CLOCK HIGH!! The "improved" spotting dot is a disaster for realistic VR - e.g. any beyond visual range work is ruined and most other a/c on a/c. ED please implement an option to REMOVE all spotting effect as before this last update. Thanks.2 points

It's not a job, it's an art and craft, and pleasure of creating something you are proud of. When I was young and played first ever online shooting game of QuakeWorld, some might didn't ever hear, I spent weeks to create just a single play level for that. Just for fun, just for the peple use it and play. It was a pleasure and always a pleasure to do something by yourself. This message for those talented, though.2 points

Yes, same for me! These new and according to the change log "improved" spotting dots technology is just terrible and absolutely breaking immersion in VR! And it doesn´t make any difference to enable or disable the option for "improved spotting dots" in the main menu. I played around with different resolutions settings, DLSS, DLAA but nothing seems to improve this mess. AMD 7800X3D RTX4080 64GB RAM 6000Mhz Quest 3 OpenXR Win112 points
