  3. So I wont lie, there was a little bit of burnout for a few months however back into things. Animations are all complete, weapon pylons are all on and configured (might make own weapons such as stingray but TBD), still trying to figure out the sounds and currently putting the textures on. I cant give a timeframe but at least its progressing.

  4. OctopusG: "A small update. To break the long silence, we decided to share a few lines about the current state of the project. Since the FM approval, a lot of work has been done — including the implementation of life-support and emergency systems, configuration of failures and wear, bug fixing, documentation writing, and creation of the necessary content. As the well-known saying goes, the remaining 10% of the work takes 90% of the time. Thank you for your attention and patience."

  9. This building below, should in truth, be an alert facility. It was not converted to offices until the mid 90's or so. I've linked how it should look, as a 4-place Alert Barn. https://airfighters.com/photo/224210/M/USA-Air-Force/McDonnell-Douglas-F-4D-Phantom-II/65-0648/ https://airfighters.com/photo/61932/M/USA-Air-Force/McDonnell-Douglas-F-4D-Phantom-II/65-0648/ https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:McDonnell_F-4D_Phantom_II_of_the_179th_FIS,_Minnesota_ANG_parked_in_the_alert_hangar_at_Ramstein_Air_Base,_Germany,_in_1987_(6427548).jpeg Same style, with the earth berms alongside

  10. It would be amazing if we could have vehicles embark to landing craft and landing craft embark to assault ships....along with disembarkation of course. This would allow some pretty epic missions.

  14. Hat in hand - this issue appears to have been a result of me running a mod to "increase cloud quality" that I forgot I had even enabled. (The graphics files have an unselectable quality one step higher, the mod just re-enables that as part of increasing view distance.) I stepped back to the default highest cloud quality and the issue is gone. Thanks again for the mod, and sorry for the false report!

  16. In the next DCS update, George AI Pilot will be receiving some improvements to his existing logic and behavior in an effort to make him more realistic along with several new features to make him more capable. The most noticeable change is the addition of an AI Helper Interface wheel that functions in a similar manner as what is seen when controlling the AI CPG, which will help players understand which commands are available at any given time. The second change is the addition of a new command to the AH-64D CPG controls called "Multifunctional Input (Center)", which functions similarly to the Consent To Fire command for the AI CPG in that it corresponds with the actions displayed within the center of the AI Helper Interface wheel. Accordingly, the Consent To Fire command in the AH-64D Pilot controls has been renamed to "Multifunctional Input (Center)" to more accurately represent the evolution of this command following the changes to George AI CPG in the July 23rd update to DCS. In the graphic below, the new AI Helper Interface is shown for when the player is in the CPG seat, with some new commands identified when the interface is in Flight (FLT) mode. The player can now toggle the AI Pilot's speed reference between ground speed (GS) and true airspeed (TAS) with a short press (<0.5 seconds) of the Multifunctional Input command; or toggle the AI Pilot's altitude reference between radar altitude (R) and barometric altitude (B) with a long press (>0.5 seconds) of the Multifunctional Input command. One additional change that is worth noting is that the Right-Short commands have been swapped between Combat (CMBT) and Flight (FLT) modes to improve the workflow when using the AI. Now, when the AI Interface is set to FLT mode, Right-Short will command George to navigate the current route; and when the AI Interface is set to CMBT mode, Right-Short will command George to turn to where the player is looking. New Speed Settings & Altitude Conversions When set to FLT mode, the player will have additional speed options, which can be particularly useful when trying to creep along the terrain at NOE altitudes or when trying to synchronize a planned time-on-target. These speed options will now include 20, 40, 60, 75, 90, 100, 110, 120, and MAX, with the new speed options underlined. When toggling the altitude reference between radar and barometric, George will now perform a correct conversion between the AGL and MSL equivalent altitudes based on the elevation of the terrain below the helicopter. This will aid in a more natural switch between altitude references. Ground Operations George can now be commanded to perform start-up and shutdown procedures by accessing the new Ground (GND) mode of the AI Interface any time the helicopter is landed. FULL START - George will perform a full start-up procedure from turning on the battery to preparing the helicopter for takeoff. ENG FLY - George will initialize all systems, start the engines, and bring the Power levers to FLY, but will leave the APU on and wheel brakes applied until the player commands him to turn off the APU and release the brakes. Alternatively, this may also be used to command him to start the APU and apply the wheel brakes after landing. ENG IDLE - George will initialize all systems and start the engines, but will leave the Power levers at IDLE until the player commands him to bring the Power levers to FLY and/or prepare the helicopter for takeoff. Alternatively, this may also be used to command him to start the APU, apply the wheel brakes, and bring Power levers to IDLE after landing. APU ONLY - George will start the APU and initialize all systems and announce when he is ready to start engines. Alternatively, this may be used to command him to start the APU, apply the wheel brakes, and shut down the engines after landing but keep all systems initialized with the APU on. SHUTDOWN - George will perform a full shutdown procedure, to include shutting down the engines, powering down systems, turning off exterior lighting and the APU, and switching off the battery. CMWS ON/OFF - George will toggle the CMWS power on/off. When CMWS is on, he'll set the CMWS/NAV switch to CMWS for combat operations. When CMWS is off, he'll set the CMWS/NAV switch to NAV for non-tactical flights. Defense Settings In order to provide a more efficient workflow during missions, the CMWS mode has been removed from the typical AI Interface flow of FLT -> H-B -> CMBT and can only be accessed using a long press (>0.5 seconds) of the George AI - Show/Hide command. In addition, a new command for commanding George to configure the exterior lighting has been added, and the mode itself has been renamed to Defense (DEFN). The following exterior lighting configurations can be selected using the Right-Short AI Helper command. DAY - Day, non-combat operations. Anti-collision lights set to WHT. NT BRT - Night, non-combat operations. Anti-collision lights set to RED and navigation lights set to BRT. NT DIM - Night training missions. Anti-collision lights set to OFF, navigation lights set to DIM, and formation lights set to BRT. NT FORM - Night training/combat missions. All lights off except for formation lights. LTS OFF - Night training/combat missions. All lights off. Improved Flight Logic George's overall flight logic has been improved, most notably to avoid exceeding the engine or drive train limitations or ensuring the helicopter has sufficient power for what the player is asking George to do. George will use the PERF page calculations to properly assess the power margins and will now provide verbal feedback to the player if he is asked to adhere to airspeed or altitude parameters that exceed the acceptable power margins for the current gross weight, altitude, and temperature. In addition, he will automatically switch between "nose-to-tail trim" at low speeds and "aerodynamic trim" at high speeds. NOTE: Although George's flight logic has been improved, it is still possible to force him into a situation in which he may collide with terrain or obstacles, particularly when he is being ordered to adhere to extremely low altitudes, operate with a high gross weight and narrow power margins, or fly at MAX speed (or a combination of these factors), the player should use prudence when selecting the airspeed and altitude combinations, and occasionally cross-check his flight path just as a real crewmember will typically do. As an example, if the helicopter does not have sufficient power margin to clear a ridgeline, the player can order George to slow to 75 or 60 knots TAS to improve his climb rate or climb angle. But if that is not sufficient, the player should order George to alter heading to avoid the rising terrain. When the AI Interface is set to Combat (CMBT) mode and the player presses the Up-Short command, George will perform the following contextual behavior. ALIGN TO TADS - George will align the nose towards the azimuth of the TADS sensor. ALIGN TO NTS - George will align the nose towards the FCR Next-To-Shoot (NTS) target. However, if the player's selected sight in the CPG seat is set to TADS or FCR and has actioned rockets, George will turn towards and actively maintain horizontal alignment with the Rocket Steering Cursor for 30 seconds, permitting the player to engage moving targets with rockets or make subsequent aiming adjustments. An updated George AI chapter describing the improvements to George AI Pilot will be included in a future edition of the DCS AH-64D Early Access Guide, but will not be finished in time for the upcoming update. We hope that these new features to George AI Pilot will allow players to utilize the front gunner seat more effectively across more phases of each mission while improving the player's reliance on George's piloting abilities.

  17. Was a preorder from October 2024, received my Super in July 2025. Got the included DMAS and Top Head strap included. Coming from an OG Crystal and RTX 4090. Was able to grab a MSI RTX 5090 Suprim Liquid at a “acceptable” price. Have had the Super about a month now and gotten it pretty dialed in. Many thanks again to TallyMouse https://youtu.be/Yt6MJMyte3Y?si=KRG3gW3H_uNdY1rn Sticking on Pimax play 1.40.4 and not upgrading as 1.41 breaks mbuccia's Quad-Views-Foveated-1.1.3. Should be fixed next update I think. Getting very steady 90FPS, except in Marianas WW2, but mostly play on the Multiplayer WW2 4YA Overlord server. The Good: No more god damned battery! One thing I hated about the OG Crystal was the battery. There was no wireless functionality when I bought it, so the battery did nothing other than add weight to the back. I’d get F1 neck with this headset and had to swap batteries if I did a long DCS session. Build and materials feel much better than the OG Crystal. HMD and straps feel more ‘solid’. Comfort. HMD is lighter and you feel it. From StudioForm Creative I ordered https://www.studioformcreative.com/product-page/pimax-crystal-crystal-light-new-v2-xl-large-face-pad-ultra-cush-17mm-pu-leath and it worked perfectly with my super. With the top strap installed was able to remove the front to back strap. I use a Steel Series headset with mic under the HMD (you’ll see why in The Ugly). Visuals. Took some tweaking based on Tally Mouse’s video but got it looking VERY sharp. Compared to the OG, it’s like being near sighted and getting a good pair of glasses. Distant items look WAY better now and small text is very easy to read. In the OG it looked good but would be blurry and limited by the number of pixels for small or distant objects. FOV. Able to get 120 horizontal and 98 vertical with my super. In the OG Crystal was getting 105 horizontal and 95 vertical. There’s a FOV Large(lab) mode, which I tried. Was able to test it up to 130 horizontal and 98 vertical, but in DCS was getting slight motion sickness and it felt ‘not right’ Did try it with the horizontal IPD -1.5 or -1.0, which helps but still got the uncomfortable feeling after a bit. Try it yourself, but I am more than happy with 120 horizontal. Brightness and Colors. One immediate difference was the colors and brightness. They are far less washed out than in the OG Crystal. In fact, some have issues with over saturation, which is why the Tally Mouse’s video recommends 99 on Brightness. For dark games like Skyrim VR there’s a big difference with the improved local dimming. Don’t see as many ‘halos’ as I did with the OG Crystal. Night flying in DCS is also much more immersive. Eye Tracking. Just as good or maybe a bit better than the OG Crystal. Was a requirement for me to upgrade. You definitely need Dynamic Quad Views for DCS. Performance. Able to keep my 90FPS with my Super on a RTX 5090 and Tally Mouse’s settings. Pass Through. Although not 100% reliable yet, the double tap passthrough view is nice. Optical Engine Options. Don’t have any of the other optical engine cartridges, but having the ability to swap out for microOLED or a Wide FOV cartridge is very nice. I plan on getting the microOLED when that’s available, even if it’s got lower FOV. The Bad: Price. Yes I know it’s top tier HMD, but it’s expensive. Worth coming from an OG Crystal? For me getting rid of the battery was worth it, but the mura has me wondering if I should have suffered a bit longer. Mura. My OG Crystal had no mura. One of the first things I noticed in my Super was the mura. It wasn’t terrible, but when you come from something that didn’t have it, you’ll see it. After tweaking and using the headset a while, I’ve gotten used to it. It doesn’t bother me as much as at first, but it’s still there. I do wonder if I’d waited and just kept using my OG for another year, then got the Super, would I have gotten a headset with mura? I bet the manufacturing and mura in future headsets improve over time, so unless you’re in a rush, it might be worth considering a wait. Pimax Play no Shutdown HMD. Generally, don’t like leaving the headset powered on. With the Super, there’s no option in Pimax Play to shut it down. It just goes to sleep when Pimax Play is closed but is still powered. So, I put the power plug on a strip that has a switch. Hopefully the shutdown in Pimax Play comes back. 120 Refresh Rate gone. OG Crystal had it, but not the Super. This isn’t a big deal for me as I’d stuck with the 90 refresh rate, but if you care about the 120, Super’s only got 90 and 72. The Ugly: Microphone. It’s bad. Really bad. I would not recommend using it with SRS. People couldn’t understand me. I don’t think it’ll improve with software. 10/22/25 - Tried the Super's audio again with the latest Pimax Software. Microphone still isn't great, but is usable now with SRS so dropping the additional audio headset and just using the Pimax Super for everything now. DMAS. Sound is better than the SMAS. That said, the volume to 100 and it still sounded pretty weak. Read somewhere they might improve it with software, but not holding my breath. My left speaker was very loose no matter what I tried (wasn’t the only person with this issue in the Pimax Super discord). Right was nice and tight. I went back to my Steel Series headset under the HMD for sound and mic. 10/22/25 - Tried the DMAS again with the latest Pimax Play, happy to report the volume is much better now. Still have a loose left earphone, but a little tape keeps it in place fine now. Was able to lose the dedicated audio headset and mic finally. Top Strap Screws. You like making miniatures and using tweezers to hold things? Well, you’ll love the Top Strap install. You’ll deal with the smallest screws you’ve ever seen. If you have large hands like me or have older hands with bad eyesight. Good luck. I was able to get it installed but it was a constant battle. Tracking Issues. This will probably get fixed overtime, or with them releasing a Lighthouse faceplate (hint hint). Had occasional tracking lag, which is nauseating. Doesn’t last long except for the time windows was downloading an update while I was in DCS. Really created a lot of tracking lag during that. Settings: Mostly the same as the Tally Mouse video. DCS Settings: Differenced from Tally Mouse Upscaling: Using Balanced instead of Quality. Adds a few more FPS, and honestly cannot spot the difference from Quality. SSAO: Make sure this is Off. If you have Quad Views on, you'll see the box floating around your view when this is enabled. SSLR: On. Adds light reflections to water and objects. Much more immersive. Lens Effects: Dirt+Flare. Why? Looking at the sun and sunlight looks SO much better with this on. However, when looking around the sun you'll see the QV box a little. But it'll look so much better than with this off. No noticeable FPS hits. Gamma: Bring this down to 1.6 or 1.8. It really makes the light and dark contrast WAY better. VR setting Mirror Eye Source: So I have astigmatism in my left eye, so picking the right eye for this. If you have astigmatism, set this to the 'good eye'. QuadViews Companion Focus Size between 20%-25% Foveate Resolution no greater than 150%. For extra FPS lower to 125% Pimax Play Settings (version 1.41.2): Using 100% brightness. My headset didn't have color issues like some. With the new Pimax play version 1.41.2 added a Sharpness Option under Games. Use IT!! Keep the QuadViews Companion and DCS In game options Sharpness OFF.

  18. The Zulu Alert hangar at Ramstein, from what I can tell, the building is there but isn't modelled as a hangar. To me Zulu Alerts from Ramstein are one of the iconic things from the Cold War in Germany. I would really like it if we could get this Hangar. Found this another thread about this topic.

  24. That will be a nice change. Last time I was in London in late September it was 37. Bloody melting in the heat, and of course...not dressed for it. Next stop was Norway, and at least I got wet enough to cool off. Come to think of it last time I was in Russia in September it was in the 30s. Russian winters are propaganda! Really looking forward to the Normandy updates. One of my favorites. Ugra is top shelf; anything they do is an instant buy.

  31. After all the resource into developing a proper RWR, some people hate it, for it being too bad to actually do anything. Mean while another bunch of people criticize ED for not realistic radar, magically picking up things. Hence, this mixture of semi-realistic state of the implementation is actually good fitting both crowds' needs, lol. Dcs is not for competitive gaming anyways. And after ditching easy flight and easy avionics, I can't see why unrealistic rwr should be an option. In fact, all modules should update their rwr to be realistic.

  36. 2025 now and CLOD is really showing its age in my opinion as great as aspects of it are. Has ED ever expressed an interest in the BoB scenario? it’s a shame if not given its impact on WW2 and its importance in aerial warfare. I for one would love a new Spitfire I or II developed for DCS at some point along with a suitable 109, as has been mentioned the maps are more or less there. I particularly love the way the Normandy 2.0 map has developed. A Hurricane is an aeroplane I would love to experience in DCS as well, but then again I don’t recall any developer showing an interest in this lovely aeroplane.

  38. While it's probably unintentional, that's more realistic than otherwise. S-200's tracking radar does not change the emissions in any way when it launches a missile, it's always just a solid CW signal, with subtle changes in polarity as the operator manually ranges you. Word on the street is though that it should give you a solid launch warning when tracked instead.

  40. ED should fix this, but in case you're not aware, in the mean time you should be able to change the units to "off road" at waypoint 7 (maybe move it and 8 closer to the gap) and then change it back to road following at WP 8. That should get them past the break. EDIT TO ADD: and yes it would be great if ED could put some error checking into the pathfinding logic so it would be able to navigate through the break on it's own, but pathfinding is already pretty computationally intensive (having a lot of units following roads on a weak computer system will slow things down a lot) so that's probably a stretch goal at best.

  42. Unless the Fulcrum pilot makes a major mistake, your chances of beating a Fulcrum in a visual fight (while flying an F-4) are almost nil. Fulcrum has significant advantages in turn rate and radius, thrust to weight, and weapons. I know a pilot who's flown both the Fulcrum and Viper and he says the Fulcrum is very hard to beat in a visual fight, even against the F-16.
