Start with an 8 on the curves for pitch, roll and even rudders. I went to 20 and it felt way to sluggish. Then it becomes waaaay easier to handle. I've never had curves on any other module but this one seems to be a must.

Thanks for these little tidbits of info, I was a bit confused with the autopilot in the Apache. My brain was thinking in terms of the Huey and Hind, but this cleared it up for me.

I agree. I am actually shocked that after a couple hours I had it flying, fighting and navigating from the back seat. What an intuitive machine, I am by no means great with the A-10's systems or even the Harrier's but this one just seemed to click after a very short amount of time. Hats off to ED

Its hella different than flying the Huey, I thought the same thing at first but as I got into how precise your movements have to be and just how maneuverable the Apache really is it starts to get easier. Try setting some curves as in Wags video, I set mine to 8 for pitch and roll and yaw and it made a huge difference. Before that it was a rodeo show on my monitor trying to hover, but then again I was used to controlling big Sovietski Mi-24

I don't think I do either, but I got sucked in and ordered it anyway. Unfortunately I think I'm about to find out I am more of a Hind guy. Turn helicopter on, look at dials, fire rockets, land helocopter.

I think it would be a bit of a waste of piggybacking on some of the Apache development if they don't go with the Whiskey Cobra. The hellfire, traversing cannon, FLIR systems and RWR all have a bit of basic commonality. That and with the UH-1H already being a mature module they should be able to pull a little from 'A' and a little from 'B' to get a good jump start on the AH-1W.

I have a hunch this next open beta is going to contain a LOT of new updates and features across the board, including the Hind. I know the Apache is a huge deal for most people but ED has the other modules to keep up as well. I'm confident the Hind is going to get some major add ons here when the Apache arrives.

Well for the SU-25 the Georgians had that Skorpian upgrade that they partnered up with the Israeli's on. We might not be able to get the SM3 Russian upgrades but the Skorpian stuff was pretty substantial for its time. I think if you google SU-25 Scorpian there's a good old fashioned late '90's VCR tape video showing off all the cool <profanity> it has.

I finished the campaign a couple weeks ago. Just wow! What a step forward in everything that DCS can be, and such a nice treat for the Huey as well which is just one of the most solid modules in DCS. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this campaign, everything about it was perfect, never encountered a single bug!

I think it will for sure, she's still an EA bird so I would imagine its on the radar. But yes I definitely notice some choppiness as well.

I know what you mean. I've loved the Apache since I was a kid (more of a AH-1W guy for sure tho) and I am OK with the A-10C but I just wonder if its going to be too complex for me to enjoy. I always seem to gravitate to the simpler systems modules like the Huey or Hind. Even the Harrier is quite intuitive systems wise but the Apache has me worried haha! I guess if its similar to the Black Shark I should be able to give it a go.

I wish that whole area of Oman was modelled including Muscat but I also wish the entire coast of the Persian Gulf was high def. I guess wish in one hand and ____ in the other tho...

This is good advice. I think a lot of people have a very hollywood idea of how helo's move around, takeoff and land etc. They work best at lower speed and with very controlled descents like kgillers3 mentions above. I personally found that taking a slower speed approach to flying helo's and spending just a bit more time planning takeoff and landings really helped my helo game. Check out Casmo's vids on you tube, he's got a couple of really good piloting basics in the Huey's that really helped my hoving and slow speed flying skills.

Any word on when Steam will get Paradise Lost? Sure would like to give that one a spin!

Hi everyone, Just thought I would alert fellow Harrier drivers that I've updated my free campaign 'Operation Broken Cauldron'. Its still nothing compared to the masters of our community but I feel it is better now than it was over a year ago and I've learned sooo much with the editor since I've finished these missions. I am hoping my next idea will bring even more for the community to enjoy.
