Hello, ok, so initially it was meant to be just a compatibility update but I guess I went a few steps too far with it. There is still some work to be done here and there but the release of the new version should be just around the corner. This time I'm going to include optional sweetfx settings to make the scenery even more vivid. Cheers!11 points

I'm not sure where you got this idea. The GBU-24 is specifically designed for long glide and low altitude loft employment where its different autopilot profiles can bring its seeker into view of the laser spot well after release. If you need a source, the Air War College document "Precision Guided Weapons Training and Employment" (available publicly on the DTIC archive here) outlines the different guidance profiles used by the autopilot in different release parameters (I believe these are now known "Mode 1" profiles, newer versions of the bomb have several modes that can be configured within the guidance unit). It makes it very clear that the bomb has mid-course and terminal guidance stages, with the latter activating on detection of the laser spot well after release. For example: GBU-24's proportional navigation capability means it can be employed without a delayed laser without worrying about energy losses, but I have never seen anything indicating it has to be.9 points

There are some upcoming changes to the Motion Reprojection algorithm in the WMR OpenXR runtime that will help reduce artifacts. No release date unfortunately since the end of the year is always very busy with the holidays.6 points

Also fängt man an mit rumbasteln.

An analogy might be knowing how to drive a car, and wanting to learn to ride a motorcycle. The Huey is like learning on a Vespa. Simple and forgiving. The Apache is like learning on a sport bike. Same concepts, but more agile and powerful. The Gazelle is like learning on a lighter-weight sports bike, but the throttle and brake are swapped to the opposite sides on the handlebars. The Blackshark is like learning on one of those 3-wheeled Can-Am trikes. It's not a real motorcycle.5 points

Dear all, We have made some Viper HMCS changes to correct ACM BORE HMCS behavior: Set ACM BORE mode and enable HMCS. Use view LOS to slew the HMCS boresight cross over a target. Press and hold TMS forward and the ellipse will be visible on the HMCS and the radar will slave the ACM BORE pattern to that LOS if within gimbal. Target should be within 10 nm. Release TMS forward and the radar will automatically attempt to snag the target as an STT, and the ellipse will be removed. Kind regards, Eagle Dynamics5 points

Just got back to flying today after my 7 week layoff due to spine surgery - felt so good to be back in the air as especially as I now have Vaicom running with DCS again also. So far everything seems to be working fine for me with the Hornet.4 points

Just to get the record straight - the E has by far the most air to air kills (world wide) of all Phantom variants. So, not just a bomb mule. The 70s were the age of the Phantom and “E” was the prime air superiority fighter of many air forces. As a prime attack plane the “E” soldiered on into the 80s before being replaced - again, world wide. The “more updated” variants place the Phantom in an era when it really is an obsolete air frame that is struggling to keep up to date, reduced to a bomb truck and unable to effectively dogfight its contemporaries.4 points

why on earth are you guys against the module getting changes that make it more like the real thing? why even play simulator games if that's not what you're after? I personally like the new changes and hope the FC3 modules get a similar touch-up.4 points

Attached is a realistic example of what you would expect to see happen in the real world. Wind is 10kts initially straight down the runway at Dubai RWY 30L/R 1600ft is greyed out annoyingly, the difference in wind direction between surface and 1600feet can be quite large. All numbers used are real basic averages from the charts mentioned previously. Of course in real life, atmospherics are incredibly dynamic. This certainly beats flying around in 0 wind. At least from a realism perspective. Wind example.trk3 points

Did you just '1v1 me on rust noob' someone on DCS? what's with the petulance, this is an environment for learning.....3 points

You've already accused me of trying to act superior. You're not seeing that you have already crossed a line - the one where your posts aren't feedback anymore. This is feedback, polite and constructive: "I prefer the F-4J/S and would have liked it to be the first variant." Ok, now the devs know. They'll take note of those who share the sentiment - as well as those who do not. Now going into almost every thread and saying things like "the F-4E is not the right choice" or that it's a bad plane, ignoring its history, ignoring everyone else's proof of its legitimacy for some reason over and over is not constructive. It's long crossed that line. Finally, yes the F-4 started out as a Navy jet. It ended up as a mean, double ugly-looking bomb truck which ALSO performed well, dropped more bombs and shot down more planes than its Naval counterparts.. But if your argument is "lots of people see it as a Navy jet" there are more people all over the world who see their F-4E as their definitive Phantom - USAF personnel and their families, Israelis, Turkish, Japanese, Iranian and Greek. These are points you have never once addressed. Why do their opinions not matter in comparison to yours?3 points

What would be better going forward for ED is to make every asset in a map, be it texture, tree, or building model contain a metadata field of what dates it should appear (i.e. from= 25/06/1944, till=29/09/1944) and tie that to the mission date as selected by the user in the ME. You wouldn't even need to supply that data for every asset; if left blank it could be programmed for the system to understand that this means the asset will always appear, no matter what date is set; thus you'd only have to concern yourself with applying the correct data to those assets that should change. That way depending on date a user could see some field textures and surrounding trees... or an Allied ALG. Or is that too simple...?3 points

Well, it's the vendor's concern in their obligation to maximize revenue. It's also quite common: some (even life-saving) medication in the US (where it's produced) can cost 10x - 100(!) times more than in other markets (like more regulated Europe). It's not discrimination per se, it's just trying to maximize profitability. Other, less extreme examples: here in Switzerland many milk-based products (like our famous Chocolate and Cheese): Although produced here they costs 50% less across the border - a mere 50km away. Why? Maximizing Profits, the lawful obligation of a company. No discrimination intended nor needed. Ethical? Good one. That's not what companies exist for. Well, we all know that one. It's the whiny excuse of every entitled being. Many of them would complain that any price is too high. As I mentioned before: the price for non-essential luxury goods like computer games is purely fictitious and is based on reaching a common understanding between vendor and customer. The vendor will perennially claim that they have wives and kids to support, and the customer will complain that they could get something almost as good someplace else, for half the asked price. At some point they will come to an agreement and a sale is made, or not. Everything in-between is merely (entertaining) histrionics - so get some pop-corn I got the MB, b*tched about the price to myself somewhat (nobody likes to spend money, and entitled I too love to complain), then donned my HMD (which alone costs more than 20 times the asking for the module) and was impressed by (and immediately fell in love with) the glass reflections on the round instruments. It's a great, fun model to fly, and I get to whine and complain about the lingering bugs. How much more fun can a guy like me ask for? IMHO totally worth it.3 points

@6S.Duke and @Automan I forgot to mention. The random loading feature for TACAN, VOR, preset radial on HSI and altimeter setting is quite nice to simulate that anybody else flew the plane last time in different condition. No magic auto-setting of altimeter as in other planes.3 points

No there are only two, the USAF F-4E with upgrades up to 1974, and the USAF DMAS F-4E. Both will have slats. The F-4 as it entered service with the USN was marketed as being able to carry lots of bombs. If being a bomb truck is so bad, the F-4J/S would never have been upgraded to bomb through clouds because that would be an unholy endeavor by your definition. Just treat the F-4E and the USN F-4's as totally different planes. Like an F-15 and an F-16. Straight up just different planes. Try taking this pill 3 times a day (with food, of course). Disclaimer: side effects may include in you leaving this forum alone instead of coming in primarily to poop on this module while advertising your favourite version as superior. Call your doctor if you're feeling nauseous, or if you're still salty once a USN F-4 releases that doesn't match the ranges of BuNo's you prefer.3 points

I would avoid the Gazelle as your "learning" helo, as it has some unusual flight characteristics compared to the other helos in DCS. One of them being the rotor spins in the opposite direction from the other helos in DCS, so you will learn to apply right pedal when adding torque with the collective, vs needing left pedal on the other helos. It may not be a huge deal, but it is something to consider. It also has a reputation for being quite a handful, with very sensitive controls. Edit: Unless, of course, if your goal is to eventually fly the Gazelle, in which case you should learn on that.3 points
-
You want pedals, rest of your setup is fine. If you have never flown helicopters, I would suggest you buy Huey first and learn on it (or you can use 2 weeks free trial option). Learn how to fly it before you go to combat. If you need to think what to do next, you won't have spare mental capacity for battle. While Apache systems look overwhelming, they can be learned. Don't try to learn everything at once. Read on one section, go into hellicopter and practice ony that. Rinse and repeat.3 points

Before adding different types, I think more accurate modeling of the effects of CM's are needed. Seekers need to be better at filtering out chaff as it slows down, or when the chaff deploying aircraft isn't in the notch, for instance3 points

I'm very impressed, too. I know IFE aren't totally new to the business, but still - it's their first full-blown module for DCS and they've done a really great job. Hats off, Gents! There are some quirks to be ironed out and a tonne of control bindings is missing, but so many things work great straight out of the box that it's... kind of... surprising! BTW, I think it's the first module I saw where those "fixed views" or "snap views", whatever (lWin+Numpad_digits) are meticulously pre-programmed for you - go see for yourself. I was about to create a close-up view for the GPS panel and... "WT..." - there IS such view already. Left console, right console, GPS etc., all programmed, you don't need to do it yourself. Also the manual seems very comprehensive, detailed, really honest work. Haven't read it yet, but yesterday I was browsing it page by page to see what's inside and man... there's a buttload of info there. And I thought MB-339 was a simple aircraft! Big props for the guy who wrote all this! All in all, I'm super happy IFE got on board and I'm definitely getting the Fiat from them Oh, look... and they have 4 (or so) programmers, I mean real programmers, and they can... you know... program... stuff... and the stuff works. It reminds me of another company where... oh, sorry, wrong forum, nevermind Cheers for IFE, forza Italia! (in genereal sense)3 points

Update to openxr toolkit, not tested all functionality yet as I'm working away from home. New experimental turbo mode has been added, this can increase performance in certain circumstances. I've seen up to 15fps increase at times. Only works without reprojection. Also CAS sharpening so you don't need to enable FSR to sharpen. https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/3 points

Is anyone reading this part ??? Makes me shake my head....not on the statement above, but on the constant demand for "more"3 points

Also from me a big thanks for the MB-339. I know I've created some bug reports, but that's just nitpicking on a well done module in this complex game/sim where you have to take so many variables in mind. What players will do within and outside of the normal operation envelope, which real pilots never would do cause they would risk their life. In game you don't need to care about and explore the unexpected, which than may result in something, you, as developer, never thought of. Looking forward to fly some fun missions.3 points

Now that we have the correct ACM BORE HMCS behavior in the latest hotfix, which works just fine for me, I have two questions (not a bug report): 1) I'm noticing that I have no reference for when the ellipse is outside of the valid LOS range for the FCR. However, how are we supposed to know when we've moved the HMCS LOS too far to allow TMS Up (long press) to lock the target? Should the ellipse be dashed or crossed out or something to tell us the HMCS LOS is out of gimbal limits for the FCR? 2) Why does NO RAD show above the ACM BORE ellipse in the HMCS when we press and hold TMS up? Is this correct/intended? Thanks in advance!3 points

I play as a GCi quite frequently and I find it very difficult to read the numbers alongside the ruler, at least in VR. The numbers often mix with the background (map). Maybe increasing the font size AND adding a solid background to the numbers, like a small square to contrast with the numbers... that would be very useful.2 points

If you are not able to prove what you affirm, it's better you keep silence. And yes, you spend your time making bla bla bla every day on this forum but when it"s time to do facts you are not available because you fly once a month .
