  3. Hey Guys! I have released my updated version of the USS Constellation FFGX-62 Frigate with liveries. Vers" 1.0.1. Please see page 1 of my forum # 16. I would like to state the USS Constellation is a Frigate so it's not comparable to a Cruiser or Destroyer. However, she holds her own as you will see. If you have any MAJOR Technical issues with the mod please PM me and I will correct it. ENJOY!!!

  4. Have just purchased The Persian gulf (on sale) Prior to the latest MT update, I had no intention of purchasing this map. But if DCS are going to potentially save me £600 in a GPU upgrade through some seriously diligent programming then I'd like to support that. When the ground AI improvements come out (which I hope can be manifested more fully due to the extra bandwidth we now have to play with) I'll buy up any other modules I've not got. Thanks DCS

  6. There seems to still be some confusion as to how the force trim interacts with the flight computer and the logic of the hold modes themselves. The force trim mechanism in the AH-64D is indeed like other helicopters from a mechanical standpoint, but the force trim is also intertwined with the Flight Management Computer in conveying pilot intentions to the FMC. In addition, it is important to understand that just because a hold mode is enabled, it does not mean it is engaged with the flight control servo-actuators. You can enable Attitude Hold using the Force Trim/Hold Mode switch at any time, even on the ground. But the hold mode will not engage with the flight controls to provide inputs unless certain criteria are met. One of these factors is the position of the cyclic in relation to the force trim reference point, which corresponds with the position of the cyclic when the force trim was no longer being depressed. The Controls Indicator represents the cyclic's force trim reference location with the red X. If the cyclic is not within roughly 2% of this position, you can toggle Attitude Hold all day and display the box around the TAS readout, but it will have no effect on the flight controls. Once the cyclic is returned to the force trim reference position (assuming the force trim is not being depressed), Attitude Hold will attempt to capture the hold values that exist at that precise moment, depending on what sub-mode it is in and other engagement factors being met, and it will engage with the flight controls to attempt to hold this value. However, if the cyclic is moved away from the force trim reference position, you are once again exceeding the hold mode "breakout" value for the cyclic, and the hold mode will disengage from the flight controls (it won't deactivate altogether, which is why the hold mode box remains around the TAS readout). Alternatively, if the force trim is depressed, this will also cause the hold mode to disengage; and when the force trim is released it will establish a new reference point for the hold mode to use, since the reference point now coincides with the current cyclic position (assuming you stopped moving the cyclic when you stopped depressing the force trim). However, it needs to be stressed that the hold modes are not a full authority autopilot. The pilot needs to place the helicopter into a stable, trimmed state prior to engaging the hold modes. You can enable Attitude Hold at any time, but the force trim should only be released when you have reached the position, velocity, or attitude you want to be held. For example, if the force trim reference position is 1 inch forward of your current cyclic position, and you are holding a hover without the force trim depressed, and you activate Attitude Hold by pressing the Force Trim/Hold Mode switch to the left, the only thing that will happen is the box will appear around the TAS readout. Attitude Hold won't engage in Position Hold sub-mode to maintain the hover because the cyclic is beyond the breakout value. If you then let the cyclic spring forward or quickly moved it forward that 1 inch to the reference position, you have now incurred two factors to make the hold mode's job that much more difficult: 1) You have input a forward pitching motion that the hold mode now needs to arrest. 2) You have now biased the SAS sleeve in the pitch servo up against it's aft authority, limiting it's ability to not only stop the initial pitch motion, but also to regain the original reference position, which is now receding aft away from the helicopter because the aircraft has started to move forward from the forward pitching motion that you have incurred. In addition, simply tapping the force trim to update the force trim reference position does not guarantee the hold modes will have their full authority to use. It takes 3 to 5 seconds for the SAS sleeve in each flight control servo to center within it's authority, but it can only accomplish this while the force trim is being depressed. Simply tapping the force trim updates the reference position but does not allocate enough time for the SAS to center, in order to regain it's full authority in both directions that it may need to command the swashplate to move. To summarize, although the flight model and SCAS behaviors are still WIP, a good number of these "buggy" behaviors are being incurred by players refusing to use the force trim or expecting the hold modes to be able to perform the job of a full authority autopilot. I'm not saying anyone in this thread is guilty of not using the force trim, but I do see quite a number of posts of players stating they just don't use the force trim. While that is certainly an option, it is needlessly making things harder on themselves, and it directly interferes with the proper use of the various hold sub-modes in pitch, roll and yaw. EDIT: And just to clarify as to what did change in the recent Open Beta update, it was the criteria for when Attitude Hold could be enabled. Prior to the update, there was an inaccuracy in the logic that required the cyclic to be within the breakout value to enable the Attitude Hold. This was fixed to how it should be in this recent update so that you can enable it at any time, even on the ground, even if the criteria for it to engage doesn't exist at that moment.

  14. First of all, once again. 54 is not 120. Do not use it like 120. Firing below 30k alt unless ACM, is firing outside 54 parameters. Ace AI is unrealistically too good, and that is ED problem. It always sees 54 incoming at 10nm, and can notch it perfectly no matter the quality of RWR 54A is a complete trash vs fighters, as it was designed purely vs bombers (and it was used as such by USN doctrine, AIM7s were for fighters). 54A not only require TWS go active signal (if track is lost then missile is trashed), but it also have much lower notch, chaff resistance than 54C. When notched, pull up maneuver by 54 I do consider as bug, require fixing. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about it right now Firing 54 parameters is at least 30k, but best 40-45k, higher -> better. 0.9 mach minimum, any extra speed is nice bonus but 45k is more important then 1.2 mach. AI is dumb, and if it is targeting you it will try to match your alt. So keep your alt after firing, it will make AI keep your alt at around 40k. 54 is absolutely deadly against targets over 40k. Therefore prioritize high flying targets. Say loadout is 4/2/2. If I see 3 targets in trail, first 2 below 20k and last one above 35k, I would target last bandit, set ignore the tracks of first 2, to make it easier for awg9 to have nice solid track, support until pitbull on 3rd bandit and then skate to build separation and reset. You could also fire on first 2 targets but PK would be much lower. You have to decide do you want 1 probable kill and 3 54s left or use 3 missiles to make them all go defensive but all of them survive and have 1 54 left. Use ECM. It will greatly decrease range of AI engaging you. Burn through range should be around 29nm so when you are closer then that DONT FORGET TO SWITCH ECM OFF. Otherwise you will turn enemy R27ERs into HOJ fire and forget stealth missiles. Per starting at mark 15 min Use TWS/STT range rule above 30nm to target use TWS, 30-20nm deadzone, do not fire, less then 20nm PDSTT. 15-10nm and less Pulse STT but PDSTT also good. Tacview-20230112-015824-DCS-F-14B BVR Su27.zip.acmi In short in BVR fly it more like interceptor MiG31 and not like F16/F18

  15. Some sort of spray-effect from tyres and the engine during take-offs and landings on runways with standing water would really push up the atmosphere and immersion: Tyre spray on a Dash 8: Water spray on an A319 - mostly due to the exhaust jet - during take-off: On a borader scale, some more humidity-related effects would be cool, like spray during reverse thrust. Note the condensation over the wings due to the high relative humidity level and the vortex created on the cowl-strakes ofthe engines: Also note the vortex at the wingtips and flap-tips - this is fairly common and would create additional immersion: Not sure if the latter effect now does consider relative humidity and vortex core pressure, or whether it's just a static effect related to some sort of aircraft-parameter (like AoA).

  16. Just noticed some odd behaviour in the JF-17's targeting pod since updating to 2.8.3.37556 Open Beta, in MT and in non-MT - though the bug is different in each. In MT, the view of the targetting pod display shakes around making it impossible to identify or designate targets. Effect is more pronounced at higher zoom levels. Wasn't like this till the previous patch. Previously in slaved mode it would drift slowly if pointing at terrain beyond 20 NM, but would fix to terrain under 20NM. Now it shakes about. I thought this might be a MT bug, so tried the same situation in non-MT. There's a bug, but a different one. Now when you enable the targeting pod the screen - as in the entire screen, not just the MFD - goes black when looking straight ahead, look ~60 degrees off straight ahead and the display returns. Turn the power off to the pod, and the bug goes away. Turn the power back on, and as soon as it's started up and you uncage it, the screen goes black again.

  18. There are several things at play here. Firstly, you found an error. I made a mistake with the Pantsir's radar emission configurations, the RWR should already be able to pick it up. So that will be fixed soon. I've also added all my assets to the RWR database, so that they don't show up as "U" for Unknown. But I will ask Nightstorm to add them to his file since he already keeps a lot of mods updated in his RWR database. When it comes to the HARM I have to learn more about how that works before I can fix anything.

  19. During testing of the multithreading today a friend and I have discovered that if you're using some form of process or management. such as project lasso and forget to disable it, the performance with the multithreading is worse than in non-multithreading. this makes sense because that is what setting processer affinity it's supposed to do. "Locking on 1 to 2 single cores" During our testing, we were trying to figure out why we were having such poor performance in multithreading. We both remembered that we had set up processor affinity with project lasso on DCS and other programs to make them perform on our more performant cores. If you forget to disable this then the software runs at fewer frames. with the maximum we saw being barely over 10

  23. Honestly, there are a lot of other F-16 variants you could model that aren't classified and that also won't be much work at all to implement. The good thing about the F-16 Block 40 and later blocks is that they all have pretty much the exact same software and avionics. ED could model a pre-CCIP Block 40 from the 1990-ish which also would give us a pre-CCIP Block 50 and a post-CCIP Block 40 for no extra work as all their systems are already modelled. With some minor changes to the external and engine model you could plop in a PW engine and you have the Block 42 and 52 as well. And with all these variants, you could even make a export HAF F-16C Block 50 or 50+ with conformal fuel tanks with very little added work. So basically, simply modelling the extra systems of a pre-CCIP Block 40 and a HAF Block 52+ this would allow us to simulate pretty much every F-16C 40/42/50/52/52+ operator on the entire earth from 1990 onwards to our current F-16CM-50 circa 2007 except when it comes to drag chutes and certain export weaponry. I think people would be very happy to pay even more than what the A-10C II upgrade cost for this as a single, huge upgrade package, and the workload for ED to actually implement this would be relatively small in comparison to what we get in the end. It would be interesting also to see a poll on how many of us would be interested in a F-16D. I sure know me and my community would be very interested in that.

I received a 4070Ti and its done absolute wonders for my FPS I can now run 4k pancake with high settings on 90-100 fps and my VR is running at 50-70 fps at 90HZ on my quest. I did still get motion sick but it was noticeably less. I think FPS and refresh rate is a major contributor here.. im still fighting the fight but hopefully this will make it easier in the long run. Thanks to all that chimed in!

  30. Guys, for me, the most useful aspect of the Utility was the ability to choose presets. I had one for monitor and one for VR and I chose them from the drop down menu in Skate's Utility - obviously. Now that we have to (temporarily) run MT from a shortcut, it was a bit of a pain to copy across the lua files to swap between monitor and VR. So, I put together a very simple batch file that offers the choice of monitor or VR settings, and then copies the appropriate one into Options.lua and runs DCS MT. I have attached it here if anyone would like to use it. Obviously, you will have to edit it to input your own paths and file names, but it's pretty useful. DCS MT Options.zip

Собственно хотелка - разделить иконки модулей на несколько строчек: карты и ассет-паки, вертолёты, поршневые (ВВ2), реактивные (СБА). Так будет видно какие есть, каких нету, ну и в целом - любоваться всей этой красотой.

  39. My 6000 hours in jets begs to differ. When you go to idle is entirely dependent on the engine, but you always get to idle prior to touchdown. The speed brake is an error correction tool on final, not a "procedure". Quite a bit of flying is not written in some procedure to be slavishly followed. You do have to do some pilot stuff that isn't spelled out for you on paper.
