  1. Welcome to the SU-57 Project Simulator (Build 5) coming in a few months to "DIGITAL COMBAT SIMULATOR"! This standalone MOD does not require any additional modules to run; it operates independently, utilizing its own systems. The intricate development process accounts for its extended duration, particularly as we conduct extensive research for accurate simulation. Goals: 1. Realistic Flight Dynamics: Aiming to faithfully replicate the aircraft's flight characteristics by considering its aerodynamic design, engine performance, and handling qualities. However, certain advanced capabilities are limited due to the current lack of comprehensive data. 2. High-Fidelity Cockpit: Detailed cockpit modeling, featuring functional displays, switches, and controls for an immersive pilot experience. Yet, some aspects are constrained by data limitations. 3. Realistic Sounds: Authentic audio effects, encompassing engine sounds, weapon releases, and communication systems, to heighten the simulation's realism. 4. Basic Stealth and DCIRM Simulation: Countermeasures against radar and heat-seeking missiles, simulating stealth capabilities to a fundamental level. 5. Supercruise Abilities: Capable of reaching speeds up to Mach 1.3 without reliance on afterburners. Please note that due to the classified nature of this aircraft, our research is conducted publicly for the Mod's development. Expectations of 100% realism may not be met, but our objective remains to approach this realism as closely as possible. Your patience and support during this evolutionary journey are appreciated. The project commenced in 2016. Best regards, CubanAce

  2. The Soviet intervention in Afghanistan lasted from December 25, 1979 to February 15, 1989. It was a period of intensive use of Mi-24 helicopters of various versions. The initial successes and basically unrestricted operation of helicopters in Afghanistan became the basis for this story driven campaign. However, the situation began to change halfway through the Soviet intervention. The campaign tells the story of the crew of helicopter Mi-24P number "17" - Alexander Sokolov (Pilot Commander) and Boris Petrovich (CoPilot-Gunner), who began serving in Afghanistan, Jalalabad AFB in 1984 and the first operation they encountered here was "Operation Panjshir" against the mujahideen forces of Ahmad Shah Masud. The campaign consists of 18 missions but it's not only "set of missions". It's a trip to the 1980s, and one of the most important cases for me was to capture the atmosphere of those years of flying the Mi-24 among the Hindu Kush mountains. Importantly, I have tried to include all possible tasks in which the Soviet Hinds actually participated during this war. So there will be close support missions, there will be search missions, there will be assault missions, bombing missions, transport missions, escort etc. The range of activities is quite wide. I rate the campaign as medium difficult, but you need to know the Hind systems and weapons quite well. The campaign uses the DCS: Persian Gulf map. All speeches are in Russian to raise the level of realism (the translation text is in English). And here is another kind of “revolution” - the whole voice pack were recorded using “AI voices”. It has its advantages and disadvantages for sure, but it's better that they exist, right? I think the final effect I achieved is quite ok (play: example). A quite important element is the entire soundtrack as well, which comes from this period and consists mainly of Soviet songs from Afghan war. It's also worth adding that the campaign received, previously unpublished, own liveries for the Hind - a clover, desert pattern. The campaign is being tested by several users during beta process (including Mi-24V crew member who was flying in Afghanistan). The most important features: over dozen single player missions (lasting from 45 minutes to 2 hours gameplay of each), realistic, detailed scenarios, story driven campaign, proceeding the campaigns as a pilot-commander (no knowledge of the CPG position is required, apart from issuing orders) full voice package in Russian (almost a thousand voice overs), even Petrovich received his role (!), briefings/subtitles in English, various types of missions, including night ones, dedicated skins from period of Afghan war, as real as it gets - cold starts only, you also need to return to the airport after the mission, prepared briefings (description of the situation and tasks), full documentation, graphics and photos most important data in the pilot's kneeboard, summary (including tips and tricks) in the readme file, check it before the flight ;)! FPS friendly (tested in VR too), the campaign "Afghan War: Szatan Arba" is free, the campaign is planned for release in December this year (2023) The campaign is currently in the final stages of production, polishing and testing. Importantly, it will be free, I treat it as my testing ground and also to collect your opinions. If you like my approach, who knows, I have a lot of ideas for the future ;). Note: although the campaign is based on historical events, it of course includes own scenarios. I would also like to add that English is not my native language but I did my best. These are thousands of words! This campaign will be my debut in this topic (campaign thread), but I hope that Hind's & DCS fans will like both - the idea and realization. FAQ. What I need to know before to play this campaign? the basis is knowledge of Hind systems and radios/radio navigations (R-863, R-828, R-852), operating the DISS-15 Doppler System, knowledge how to use all weapons used by Mi-24P from the pilot station, communication management with the flight/wingman (by DCS radio com), management and giving orders Petrovich (by CPG menu), ability to land in casual terrain you need to have DCS: Persian Gulf map and Mi-24P module Can I play this campaign in multiplayer mode? sorry but not, the campaign was created as an Single Player version and due to the number of changes and logic in the missions, it would basically have to be reworked by 50% What do you recommend learning before starting a campaign? Chuck’s guide for Mi-24P is very ok for this (+ training missions in DCS) See you soon for more info! Stay tunned. YoYo More preview screenshots from Szatan Arba campaign: https://photos.app.goo.gl/QE6re75gocHzH5hC8 ⚠ DOWNLOAD LINK ⚠: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3335179/ version 1.0 (12/2023). Please read manual before flying. Support / questions: You can ask any questions or support in this topic. If there is a question about the plot, do not reveal it in a unhidden post, use the "spoiler" option: so that people who haven't completed this mission will have more fun.

  3. The Pantsir 57E6 family of missiles are command guided, so you will only get an warning when locked on by the Pantsir radar. Unfortunately, the Pantsir also have an electro-optical sight which it can use at short ranges. And those won't give you a radar warning. Your will need some sort of Missile Approach Warning System (MAWS) to detect incoming missiles of this kind. Or your head on a swivel and very sharp eyes.

  9. Hello, I've been messing around with the trailer attach/detach tasks available for tractor vehicles. I was doing this since the new S-300 search radar needs one to move around as currently implemented. I'm not sure how long these features have been in the works but anyways I thought I'd make some bug reports to hopefully push it a bit since this would genuinely be nice to have. Trailer Attach : -So the trailer attach task is currently not usable without editing the mission file inside of the miz since there are no trailers available in the drop down (probably because no unit is reported as a trailer I guess, as otherwise I can hitch anything onto it). -It also does not seem to work if not done on mission start (an option of the task), the AI does not seem to know how to attach a trailer if asked to do so after spawning. -The trailer seems to rotate around a "hitch point" as a trailer should but is floating. Trailer Detach : -The trailer detach task works correctly it seems, but the trailer takes an odd orientation after being released and is floating. -There is no way to request a final heading for the tractor when unhitching (QoL feature but can be necessary in some scenarios). Here are two videos displaying these few issues + the .miz files used : 2023-12-10 15-21-21.mp4 2023-12-10 15-30-46.mp4 Here is also a screenshot of the line I added to the mission file of the .miz to make the feature "work" : Alright that's it, good luck ! 12. Thanks for the suggestion! Well, I've been interested in making submarines and torpedoes, but DCS support for underwater warfare is a bit light. We'll see moving forward. Thanks, I'll look into it. Yep, it's my contribution to the Mars exploration. As you might have noticed, it's because of the cruise missile and antiship missile bugs in DCS. They are said to be fixed in the next DCS update. No plans at the moment, but I really like the M1070 and such beasts. Yep, you found the issue. I have it on my FAQ: https://www.currenthill.com/faq#h.vd47duult5df We'll see.

  14. The New Su-57 Project build 5 simulation brings in its own su-57 Hud and HMD and unique radar contacts and closure rates and direction. Below are some screenshots of the new HUD and radar displaying in the HUD it self, this build uses its own radar and the radar is displayed in the HUD and the radar MFD section. The contacts are unique and feature a line that tells direction and closure rate along with distance and of course the contact it self. Also this new build offers the ability to see your internal weapons in your Arming screen. This is a standalone mod and no FC3 or any other module is needed.

  18. Yeah, going to the DoD saying you want the manual because Iran might not fly the F-14 anymore is probably not gonna get you anywhere unfortunately. That's actually a really important point many people forget. A lot of systems you don't need the exact details for, just how it should look and feel. Like you say, it's a simulation it's not rebuild it IRL.

  21. A supersonic telephone pole will end the day of any F-35 or A-10 it encounters. The difference is that the F-35 possesses a much better capability to avoid that when compared to an A-10, owing both to its maneuverability and superior ECM. It can also more effectively fight the site that hurled said supersonic telephone pole when utilizing its sensors and datalink. The F-35 is not truly replacing the A-10. The A-10 is just not survivable in a modern peer or near-peer conflict. Even in its heyday, conducting the mission it was expected to perform in the Fulda Gap, it was expected that Soviet SPAAGs and other air defenses would claim many, many, many A-10s. The worst case scenarios that I know of predicted about 50% total fleet loss to all causes in this situation. This is a predicted loss rate that's even worse than the F-105 loss rate over Vietnam. Most of those F-105s lost? Lost to SAMs. F-105s are also, obviously, much faster than an A-10. Basically, the A-10 would provide SAM operators with a very large NEZ when compared to something like a Viper or the F-35. Also, the whole climb, dive, fire thing doesn't really work when your airframe's rate of climb can be charitably described as "lazy." In that same situation, in which a Maverick strike is to be employed against a target while under the net of a SAM site (which is a horrendously bad idea to begin with, if your commander is hurling you at that target in anything short of a stealth aircraft, you should pour any drink you have out on your avionics and act none the wiser when you return for repairs), the F-35's stealth would allow the pilot to more readily find target, launch, and then it can utilize it's superior ECM to ensure its egress is easier. Also, the on the B-52 comparison? It actually is still more survivable than the A-10 owing to its greater stand off capability. The A-10 can't let loose a volley of cruise missiles and turn for home before it even enters hostile airspace. The A-10's use in recent years has been against irregular combatants in a COIN capacity. In that regard, the OA-1K is what will be supplanting the A-10 in its counter-insurgency role. As @Mr_sukebe stated, an A-10 cannot beat a turboprop in terms of cost effectiveness. And the adoption of the OA-1K isn't at all radical or strange as the concept of the turbine prop COIN aircraft has been pretty solidly proven in various theatres across the planet. It was proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, by the Super Tucano. The A-10's time has come. It's time to start winding down its operation, lest it become the American Stuka. Even its operational and upkeep costs are growing at a substantial rate. The production of new wings has easily eclipse the $1b mark. This is to be expected of any military air frame of that age, though. It gets more and more expensive to operate given the wear and tear these aircraft get. Crew chiefs aren't wizard and they're asked to maintain decades old airframes to the best of their abilities, but for the A-10? The Rubicon approaches. Durability doesn't count for much when you catch an SA-2, the F-16, F/A-18, and F-35 are much better suited for dealing with that. That durability also doesn't mean a thing when used incorrectly, a testament to the 6 lost over Iraq in '91, making the A-10 one of the worst in terms of losses of that conflict and almost half of the total losses the USAF suffered. The loiter time is impressive, but a drone is better suited for very long loitering over a target. The gun can't pen anything past a T-62. It also has an enormous spread. Turboprops can carry the same weapons the A-10 can, save for the big gun, and have it beat for efficiency. The one last realm where the A-10 finds relevance would be in the ability to bring a lot of bombs to bear in an environment void of SAMs. You can find it cool, there's no denying that it is. But, at some point, war will leave all tech developed for it in the past. After all, how many armies line up as hoplites in a phalanx, now? Legionaries in a Testudo? Impis in the horns of the bull? The US Navy could still be flying my beloved A-6, it'd still be a function attack platform and (arguably) still more relevant in a modern battle space than the A-10. But, time catches up with a fleet and superiors arise as it did with the F/A-18C/D and F/A-18E/F. At best, the A-10 is an auxiliary, plugging holes to free up better airframes for more dangerous work. At worst? Long past expiration date.

  30. Not sure why you would want FC3 level model of the F-3 since those older aircraft already have simple systems to learn. Plus the majority of the customer base for something like this is going to want it as a full fidelity module that flies just like the real thing did.

  31. See this thread. As I said, you drained the S-3 to it's minimum (it needs to keep some to get back to the boat). The linked thread has the actual amounts that will show that you CAN'T get full tanks in the F-14 if you start from fairly low.

  32. US DOD don't care what Iran says, the AM Program was a failure, saw that coming, but I doubt they are all EOL in the next 12 months. Until all of the airframes are sent back to the US to be shredded they are still deemed a threat. AFAIK, The last request for non-public manuals was not approved at higher levels. There are US Regulations that need to approve the release of such documents. so for example, if ED were to go to Boeing and ask for Lot 26 Super Hornet Manuals, and Boeing says sure, that request has to pass through 2 more High level government programs. Whether or not someone higher has changed their mind and approved the release of documents, or HB has decided they have enough public information to simulate the systems without them, remains to be seen. if one were to dig through social media posts across the social media networks, the last 18 months it kind of seems like it's the 2nd of the 2 scenarios.

  33. @Flappie The problem isn't that the doors only partially open (as it should with single stores on the rotary launcher) it's that, when the GBU-31(V)1/B, GBU-31(V)3/B or GBU-38(V)1/B is carried, the doors open as soon as the waypoint with the bombing task(s) is reached, even if the target is nowhere near in range. With the GBU-38, the doors open fully (as they should, though note that in DCS, the B-1B can carry far more GBU-38s than it could IRL before the MPRL upgrade). In the tracks below I have the B-1B starting close to the western extremity of the Black Sea, a waypoint with the bombing tasks is located ~8 nmi ahead (or about a minute into the track), with a target located in Tuapse ~480 nmi away from the B-1B's starting position. When the B-1B passes the waypoint with the bombing tasks, the doors open immediately, despite the aircraft being far out of range (it's not until ~50 minutes into the track, where the aircraft is in range to drop - don't worry, I have been fairly liberal with the time acceleration). B-1B_doors_GBU-31V1.trkB-1B_doors_GBU-31V3.trkB-1B_doors_GBU-38V1.trk Another few items to note: In DCS, it's either all bays open or all bays closed, even for bays that are unloaded or empty. IRL, it's possible for only doors of the required bay(s) be open, while others remain closed - see this image of a B-1B releasing an AGM-158C LRASM from the forward bay - the intermediate and aft bays remain closed. When a bombing task is completed the bomb bays start closing despite there still being bombing tasks to complete that are in range (as seen in the above tracks), this leads to the doors beginning to close only to immediately open again, over and over again. It would be better if the doors remained open so long as a bombing task is in the queue and the bomber is either approaching or is in-range (this bug also applies to the B-52H). EDIT: So instead of just closing immediately upon completion of the bombing task, first check to see if there's another in the queue and if there are, check to see if the target is in-range. If there isn't another in the queue, or if there are, but they're out of range, or if the bomber is engaged defensive, then only then should the doors close.
