  1. We look to be getting a 9.12 variant that was the Soviet fighter. So the one given to Russian and all the Soviet states. So that means no internal ECM unit, and it looks like we won't yet be getting lazur-m implementation (GCI Datalink) off the get go, but maybe at a later date. to use the R-77 we would have to be getting the 9.13 variant that had the upgraded radar (only a handful of those), so were not getting any R-77, though all flavors of R-27 that we currently have in game are up for grabs including the ER and ET varients i believe. After some responses and myself re-evaluating the info It looks more just like the R-27R and maybe the ER (which they could kinda trick the old system to use). At least on release, we'll see how things go. in terms of Meta, the MiG-29 even a base R-27R 9.12 Fulcrum will fit right in with the M2000C, F-14, MiG-23, F-4E, Mirage F1, A7 and A6 and AV-8B night attack and F/A-18C and F-15E armed with Sparrows only, and F-16 armed with only Aim-9s. This fits right in with a cold war gone hot scenario in the late 80s and there are already servers like Enigmas cold war, and tempest that are already gearing up for these planes. If datalink sharing is disabled on the servers this puts everyone with a decent amount of stuff. that can compete pretty well together.

  2. Currently in the whole DCS there are only four airports with working RSBN and PRMG landing system, all on the Russian part of the Caucasus map. A better solution is needed to fully utilize the aircraft at nigh or in bad weather, on different maps. In real life these stations were mobile and in theory could be deployed where needed. The on board INS also depends on RSBN for position corrections.

  3. I think it will fit in very well in Fox1 based 80s scenarios and multiplayer servers like Buddyspike Blue Flag 80s or Enigma Cold War where it will have to compete against Sparrow equipped aircraft or less (the F-16 for example only even has Sidewinders in a 80s/ early 90s scenario).

  5. DCS: Iraq We are also excited to announce an Iraq map coming to DCS. From Operation Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom to the War on Terror, Iraq has been one of the most significant flash points of the late-20th and early 21st centuries. The Iraq map will initially be centred on Baghdad to best provide War-on-Terror and War on Isis scenarios. Later, the map will be expanded south to provide older scenarios like Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom.

  6. As realistic radar modeling is becoming the norm in DCS, first with Razbam’s Mirage 2000 and F-15E and now with Heatblur’s F-4, I thought the Fulcrum would be a great opportunity for ED to join in. The Fulcrum’s radar is well documented and ED has SME on staff here is a lecture series from Ukraine’s national Aerospace University and a radar book that I believe ED has used before. https://studfiles.net/nau/145/folder:11012/#5383849 https://studfiles.net/preview/5383872/ https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2378427/ Some other potential sources are the US National Air and Space Intelligence Center which recovered an Iraqi export standard N019 at the end of the Gulf War (HAVE NOSE) and AFOTEC which until recently operated ex Moldovan MiG-29 9.13 inherited from the USSR.

  7. DCS Best timeline is 1980 to 1995 MIG-29 is perfect for the 1983 to 1992 stretch that's 9+ years .... Who's going to like it, People that understand it's basically a glorified Mig-21Bis and use it as such 90% of the DCS Servers are made to cater to the JDAM and 120c7 addicts Enigma seems to be the only one to get this timeline concept DDCS is not too bad because the Mig-29A and Mig-21 are put in as point defence fighter on advance airfield but it could really use the whole logistics of weapons and a smarter GCI 1980 to 1990 USN/USAF/USMC F-18C is the closest opponent we have in the game for the time period. (Aim-9L + Aim-7F) later (Aim-9M + Aim7M) up to 1992 F-14A/B with similar loadout is the same. (Does shine in that era with the AIM-54) F-16C Aim-9L or Aim-9M that's it. Until limited number of Aim-120B 1991+ AV8B could be loaded with a period correct loadout. F-15E Aim-9M + Aim-7M + LGB + TGP that don't work over 15 000ft (Have fun with that) The bad reputation is basically from the 100 vs 1 ratio the Iraq Airforce had to deal with. A-4E Can be included with a stretch depending on country etc Mirage F-1 All versions & weapons Fits right in Mirage 2000c Fit's right in with all weapons. Mig-21Bis still fit's right in depending on country Mig-23MLA Same

  9. DCS: Marianas World War II To support the DCS: F6F Hellcat and other PTO aircraft and units coming to DCS, we have been adapting the current Marianas for the past year and into 2024. The map is based on painstakingly researched documents, photos, and accounts of the Mariana Islands in the summer of 1944, at the time of the Battle of the Marianas between the United States and Imperial Japan. This will be a free map that leverages our latest TDK for improved performance and realism.

  11. Gentlemen, Please forgive me for such a long layoff between posts. I'm back to work (traveling), and I forgot how "slow" December is now that things have picked back up. I'm going to look at all the files and the bill of materials tonight on Cults and thingiverse and correct any of the errors and missing files Also, gonna to try and get the second video edited and uploaded by Friday/Saturday. Again, I apologize for the time delay.

  14. DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum We are excited to announce our first full fidelity 4th generation Russian fighter: the MiG-29A Fulcrum! The Fulcrum has been a massively successful, single-seat fighter that was developed to counter the F-15, F/A-18, and F-16 during the height of the Cold War. Today, it serves numerous armed forces, and will fill an important role in DCS. Based on publicly available manuals, the DCS Fulcrum will be a 1980s era MiG-29, but it will still be a potent threat to other DCS aircraft with its array of radar- and infrared-guided missiles, its 30mm cannon, and unguided air-to-ground weapons. In the right hands, the MiG-29 can be a tough opponent with its Helmet Mounted Sight paired with high-off boresight R-73 air-to-air missiles.

  17. The SUV-29 of the original 9.12(which it seems is the one we get for DCS) did not have support for the IR- and long-burn versions of the R-27 - only the R-27R. IIRC use of the R-27ER has been achieved by a "hack" that pretty much tricks the WCS to think its a R-27R, which worked because, as you said, the guidance section and thus compability with the radar is the same. But whether this also involved the proper engagement parameters for the -ER is doubtful. At any rate its one of those things that might look good on paper, but in reality is a rather impractical prospect. Its just too big and heavy for the MiG-29 with subsequent flight restrictions, while providing only a moderate range improvement.

  18. When the Mig-29 arrives in DCS, we will hopefully have the mission planning feature available. It's safe to assume that this would allow us to change the preprogrammed parameters during the mission when parked on a friendly airfield. If landing is not an option, you could use radio navigation. For me that sounds way more interesting than the newer jets, that present you everything on a digital map...

  19. No problem. This is going to be a huge money maker for them, and I hope they pull out all the stops on it. People like to talk about balancing DCS well Mig-29A, 23MLA, 21Bis, MI-24, Maybe an SU-17 Red. F-14A, F-4E, A-7E, A-6E USA M2000, F1, F-5E, maybe a Kafir NATO. that’s a pretty balanced mid 80’s lineup with all the missions covered, especially if the SU-17 happens. It will be up to administrators on how they let the apex predators be used in their servers. With the dynamic campaign coming single player will get a lot more interesting as well. I feel like a good chunk of players are going to gravitate to the MiG-29. It feels good to fly, that helmet mounted site is gonna be awesome when Archers are allowed. It’s got good enough weapons to fight BVR. And if you survive to the merge you are an apex predator. I think most players will buy this. The old heads like myself already love it from the LOMAC days. The younger players want something they can turn and burn with anything in game with. And in its proper environment, mid to late 80s, it’s an absolute monster.

  20. Keep in mind that it was designed to fly high and fast to intercept aircraft and, then, return home. So that’s what the avionics are designed for. It was never intended to fly long distances requiring numerous waypoints. At least, with the FF cockpit you’ll know which WP you have selected. Hopefully, too, we’ll finally have the entire ACS (AP) system modeled.

Schaut mal in einschlägige Foren. Was kam waren Core-Verbesserungen. "Weniger neues raus bringen, mehr am Core arbeiten" zieht also mal so gar nicht. Trennung. Was gabs denn nun am Trailer selbst zu bemängeln? Natürlich kann man im Vorfeld erwarten von 25 neuen Modulen weg geblasen zu werden. Ist dann halt der sichere Weg enttäuscht zu werden. Und nebenbei gesprochen wäre das dann wieder "jede Menge neues Zeug ankündigen", was ja auch alle doof finden. Also was hatten wir? Also, was fehlte?

  26. In general built in AWACS is very bad solution. It gives you nearest bandit without any understanding if tactical situation. The mission based 3rd party alternatives are not much better, often ruining the reality while having same issur as built in. For 29 it would be cool to allow another player to sit inside lazur cabin.

  27. Single-engine operations are considered an emergency situation, not normal operation. Multi-engine aircraft are designed with the number of engines they have out of necessity to achieve the required amount of performance they need to fulfill their purpose. If a multi-engine aircraft did not need all of its engines to perform its mission, there would be no reason to use all of those engines, which would needlessly increase gross weight, fuel consumption, complexity, costs, maintenance requirements, logistics demands, etc. Single-engine operation is meant for recovery to a friendly area where the aircraft can be repaired and put back into service, but this may come at the expense of aborting the mission, jettisoning external munitions, and losing hover capability; meaning you will need to keep your airspeed above the VSSE value shown in the TAS window on the PERF page. If VSSE is displayed as "?", you cannot maintain level flight under single-engine power; which would be the case if at high altitudes, high temperatures, high gross weight, or a combination of these factors. In such a scenario you will want to try to attain the maximum endurance airspeed (the END value shown in the TAS window on the PERF page), which will give you the least amount of descent rate so that you can travel as far as possible to a suitable landing area before you are forced to land, or perhaps descend to a lower altitude in which a VSSE value exists. Jettisoning the external weapon pylons may lower the gross weight enough to achieve this as well. Having the ability to maintain controlled flight with one engine operational, even for only a brief amount of time, is preferable to losing all engine power completely; which would result in an autorotation followed by a high vertical impact into the ground, at best. This means that even if you cannot return to a friendly airbase or FARP under single-engine power, it is more likely that the aircraft can be put down into a suitable landing area without injury to the crew and without damage to the airframe, allowing it to be recovered at a later time and put back into operation. Further, the other multi-engine helicopters in DCS will also be subject to the same situation. If you only have one engine operational in the Ka-50, Mi-24, or Mi-8, you will lose hover capability and will need to maintain a given forward airspeed to maintain flight, and may also be forced to jettison external munitions to achieve this.

  28. Actual footage DCS - 0.25 slow motion DCS - from a different angle - 0.25 AND 0.1 slow motion --- The shovels deploy far too early and too slowly. The actual footage shows the bombs gaining a larger separation from the aircraft before the shovels deploy, and when the shovels deploy, they are far quicker. In DCS they actually may be clipping into the aircraft; it's hard to be 100% certain, but it does look like it with drops from certain ejectors.

  29. So absolute max speed in the 1D seems to be 684kmh while a 109k4 with MK50 has a top speed at 710. But I assume top speed for each of these aircraft might not be at the same altitude? At what altitude did our Corsair preform best vs the Spit, p51, p47, the two 190s and the 109k4?

  40. Speaking as a player myself (I'm not a dev or part of the DCS CH-47 project); although I do see the potential for how useful such things would be in a dynamic campaign as well as a multiplayer server, I think there are elements to logistics gameplay that are overlooked in all of this. There are many challenging conditions that can be created for CH-47 gameplay that are not reliant on directly seeing the results of your actions at the "real-time strategy" campaign level. For example, imagine that you are flying a CH-47 in the middle of the night under NVG's, banking and turning down among the trees on your way to assault an objective with a platoon of troops in the back, with three more CH-47's right behind you. You need to time your arrival perfectly so that you are touching down at the LZ right after a flight of AH-64's and A-10's begin striking targets in and around the objective. While enroute, you encounter enemy units that the Intel section didn't know about, and you need to dart down a different valley to avoid contact and devise an alternate route to the objective. Your copilot starts rapidly punching away on the CDU to re-calculate an alternate route around the enemy forces. You hit the gas and speed up because you need to be wheels down at the LZ at a precise, pre-coordinated time. Arrive too early and the enemy forces near the objective may detect and engage you. Arrive too late and the initial surprise of the AH-64 and A-10 strikes may have subsided and an enemy counterattack is mobilized, threatening your insertion into the LZ or your egress from the area. On top of that, the detour and higher speeds is now eating into your planned fuel reserves and you may need to divert to a closer FARP on the way back. And you're doing all of this while flying under NVGs at low altitudes, trying to not hit trees or wires, reacting to RWR warnings, glancing down at your ground speed and ETA at the LZ, etc. Anyway, that is just one example of how engaging and challenging a scenario may be outside of doubling as a ground force commander that is moving combat forces around the battlefield. I'm not saying that sort of gameplay doesn't also sound fun and interesting, but there are lots of scenarios that can be developed that can immerse the player into CH-47 operations. It just comes down to whether the gameplay of a given mission is more focused on simulating being a CH-47 pilot in itself, or being a means to bring about larger strategic effects in a large-scale environment. Both have their merits, depending on a player's preferences and interests.
