  3. The 96L6 SR and 50P6 9M100 LN has been added. I've also redone the 9M96D model. It's moving along fine...

  4. I can guarantee no matter how much information we pass people will always want more and more regular. We have a weekly newsletter with topics we are ready to share, social media interaction, forum and live chats in our discord answering questions, communication is not a problem. The problem is people want more information and we can only give it when we are ready to and projects can take sometime.

  5. I've only heard complaints and so was hesitant to test it myself, but now i can happily say, that it is actually rather good. If you haven't yet, give it a try! It doesn't have feature parity with external solutions yet, but what is there already works well. User experience is nothing short of excellent: Easy to set up. The ingame voice config overlay (strg+shift+Tab) is very well thought out and easy to use. To my surprise integration with the aircraft radios is already working flawlessly. A lot of things are still missing, but it's already fully useable and in our (admittedly quite small) test mission, we did not encounter any bugs. If you haven't already, give it a try. That's all i wanna say basically! Thanks.

  8. We will give release dates once we are 100% sure of them and not before. Development can be dynamic and we need to be flexible, some people do not take date changes well, so waiting until we are sure is the best way. thank you

  9. Almost done with the Commercial vessels lighting. I'm hoping to release a few of them by week's end. Thanks for your patience!

  10. First of all thank you for your reply 9L, I really appreciate it. The slightly negative undertone of the previous speaker aside, I think many of us here in the community have really been patient beyond measure with regard to this very topic - with all due respect. The whole number has been dragging on for an entire year now, please don't forget that. I personally totally understand that certain things take a lot of development time, at the end of the day you want the result to be right. I totally get that. But... a brief intermediate status of things must be. I think it's totally understandable if some in the community are starting to get a little restless as this not only affects the F/A-18, but also the Viper. And we don't want to fool ourselves, please. On your credit side there is currently not much progress to be seen in this regard. Still, I think many of us are keenly interested in this very topic. And rightfully so. So please just think about what you could present to the general public in the near future as a kind of "update teaser"... you just can't come along without it at this point. We've heard long enough about promises and postponements. Now it's up to you to simply deliver. And please guys don't derail this thread. Just leave these words as they are. No small wars please, everything else has been said on the subject, I think. Thank you, good luck and all the best to the team.

  15. It's gonna be a cool map for the Bo 105. The G.91 will also feel at home on the (hopefully) various roadbases. Too bad we don't have an Alpha Jet A. I'm also hoping for more tactical fixed wing transporters e.g. C-160 and G.222/ C-27 classes.

  16. Everyone keeps saying that. 'Citation please'. Two-way DL doesn't mean anything in terms of which DL is used The MDL for 120 is transmitted for some 90 seconds, so it's available during that time. For the R-27, it is transmitted up to a certain range, then replaced with the homing signal. Once that happens, the DL does not come back. For the sparrow, there's no DL at all, it's like an R-27 after the DL has lapsed. Yeah you're wrong. These missiles are a) tuned by the radar, b) receive pre-launch information and c) have receivers for the radar's emissions in the rear so at to use that as a benchmark for ranging, doppler shift etc. AFAIK no one estimates range from radar returns as those can vary quite massively with even a small change in aircraft orientation. Also, there's no real passive HoJ tracking. This is a mis-reprentation - the missiles are tuned to and lock onto the radar's emissions. They won't guide onto just anything ... so you have to keep illuminating the target so that it keeps repeating your radar's signal. HoJ isn't some sort of stealth killer, otherwise why have a primary guidance mode anyway? In almost cases the jammer should lower the Pk compared to a non-ECM environment. It shouldn't allow you to turn around and let your missile continue guiding.

  17. This should be a special option slider instead of having to set curves for it or editing lua files. also the cursor speed should be the same across all displays, which it currently clearly is not

  18. Lack of AI assets is a huge problem, so many are outdated and production is way too slow. Overall there's not much output and I'm worried it has something to do with the ongoing conflict. What happened to the CRAM Wags showed us in game almost two years ago? When are they finished with those 3 AI planes (S-3, B-52, B-1) so they can move on and replace more outdates models like that ugly C-17A? How come there's no KC-10 (or plans to add it)? How come a handful of modders put out more content than the game developers themselves? Feels like ED stopped caring about the core game /SP content entirely which also explains the heavy marketing of MP servers. Buy modules and join an airquake server, then buy the next module.

  20. MT is still in testing (ie optional). Let’s get that fixed first. I assume MT is a prerequisite for the Dynamic Campaign to be playable but it seems to still be a WIP.

  21. Quick comment on F-4 RWR equipment. The early USAF F-4Cs that I trained on had APR-36/37s (I think) that had strobes pointing to the threat radar, along with a tone that indicated the seriousness of the threat. The length of the strobe indicated strength/pseudo range. The strobes were also different depending on the type of threat (AAA, SAM, fighter radar). The later F-4Es had a later system (ALR-46) that had different tones and symbols instead of strobes. Vulture

  22. Actually, there are two versions of the training missiles: CATM-9M and DATM-9M. The first is a captive training missile used to train pilots. It contains the same seeker, electronic assembly, and umbilical cable as the live missile but no fuze, warhead, or motor. Its purpose is to interact with the aircraft like a live missile except for an actual firing. The second one is used for ground maintenance and handling training only, and it can be mounted on the aircraft but cannot connect to its systems. So, the CATM version in the DCS should act as a live missile except for the ability to be launched. If it does not work that way, it's definitely a bug.

  23. @currenthill is any chance you could share the skins templates so that I could try build a second version of them to a bit more lower resolution? I am using Gimp, and seems you are using the 7th version of BX encoding ... which gimp cannot handle .. so is a bit more complicated to convert them. But I could definitely use the .psd templates to work for some more resource friendly skins....

  25. If i IFF my buddy and get a response (green blib), the FCR will not correlate that to the radar contact. Track stays white, HUD target box does not change. If i IFF a bandit, the track will stay white. I'd have assumed that the track turned yellow (?)... If i IFF a bandit and do a succesful NCTR ident (Mig21 - obviously hostile), the track stays white. It should turn red... no? Intended behaviour? User error? A bug? Place your bets!

  26. None of this is well enough described. There is a difference between actually being controlled by other aircraft, and using off-board (other aircraft's) data to guide your missile - you see where I'm going with that. So you could in theory shoot at a DL target but the M-Link is still emitted from your aircraft. Yep, that's the thing. Each missile is coded to a different ID for the DL onboard the aircraft and also separated in channels for the flight of 4 aircraft. The sparrow had other advantages ... basically better overall electronics. You'll see on the eagle VSD and other radar displays a little circle on the DLZ called the 'DSR cue' when the sparrow is selected. This is the computer's guess as to how far it believes the sparrow seeker can see a reflection from your radar based on the selected target. Do not shoot if the target is beyond the DSR cue The sparrow will launch and immediately attempt to lock onto the target. The R-27 will behave the same way if the range to target is short enough - straight to guidance signal, no DL. R-27's cannot be controlled by other aircraft, despite interesting stories to the opposite. TO be more precise though ... yes, 'sure they can be' but then you have two radars tuned to the same channel, which means they cannot both operate on targets close to each other at the same time. And close isn't all that close ... why? They'll jam each other and each other's missiles. So basically you can expect radar channels and missile guidance channels to be set apart for each aircraft in the flight. Same applies for sparrows, and failure to implement this (a lesson hard learned) led to some spectacular misses and premature warhead detonations. It means you can shoot beyond the DSR cue If you mean LOAL yes, but heat seekers are very typically LOBL so that's a huge difference. Well, think about it this way ... why have a jammer if all it does is hurt you? So you have two kinds of jammers, broadly speaking: 1) Self protection jammers, used by fighters, bombers (bombers have far more bombastic jammers though that can act like the ones below) etc 2) Stand-off jammers which operate almost contantly to end enemy communications and raise the noise floor of air defenses to allow own side to sneak closer Your missile's and radar's HoJ modes deals with 1 above. That type of jammer will attempt to repeat the radar's signal in a way that breaks the lock or otherwise sends the missile somewhere else. The key here is that it's repeating the signal that the missile is trying to home onto. Break the lock and the jammer stops repeating (within a few seconds) and there's nothing for the missile to home onto. In DCS the 'jammer' is just a flag that doesn't take this into account, so it makes the missile act like a heat seeker. The SPJ should be able to lower pk on average, but also possibly completely trash the missile or in rare circumstances, make everything worse for the defender. We generally wouldn't be concerned with the extreme cases in a game IMHO. The SoJ described in 2 above requires something like an ARM or other specialized missile - these are the 'anti-radion AAMs' you normally hear about. It's not 'mere HoJ' although the possibility to pull that off may exist...but if it does, it's locked up in manuals we have no access to so unless proven otherwise I'd lean on the 'can't do this' side for HoJ . Also, while specialized missile guidance exists to tackle SoJs, typically you send in a good old SAM or AAM anyway.

  27. My apologies .. you are totally right, as the same happens on my end: Tested both with MT and normal versions of DCS. This is clearly a bug, as I remember the 3-day message quite well and it worked as described. @BIGNEWY can we report this as a bug? Hopefully it can be fixed soon.

  28. Render resolution. How many times do I need to say it? Adjust the slider. It's not per eye, it's the whole display. You need to stop thinking "per eye". Why not start by adjusting the back to default and then increase it a bit at a time until the image is as clear as you can see? I'm sorry to be curt but really guys, go play with it. All the questions have been asked before. Just go play with it and adjust it to how you like it. It's all a personal preference anyway. You don't see @nikoel asking a million questions when he got his. Literally within a day he was up and running - job done. Just go fiddle, one thing at a time and notice the change. Stick with what works for you and stop fiddling. Slughead out.

  30. Been there, done this. So never say never. Only a Sith deals in absolutes. There is lot to love about VR (in principle), but there is equally many objective flaws. Inferior picture quality, uncomfortable, higher hardware demands...etc..... I'm sure that we will get there someday - but for now it is far from perfect.

  31. Please dont confuse silence with not caring or no progress. Teams are working hard on the core of DCS always, we will share progress when we are ready to. thanks at the beginning of the year we had a newsletter showing what we are working on in 2023, this does not mean delivered in 2023, we will share progress but only when we are ready to. thank you for your patience.

  32. Thanks! Absolutely, check out the short video clip earlier in the thread. It will be fully mobile. I have documented the issue, but haven't had the time to fix it. I will go through the Swedish assets and update them one by one shortly. Yep, that's the way to do it!

  37. What could ED or RB possibly say that would satisfy some of you at all? They've already been flame sprayed by all of the low impulse control types. I'm surprised that someone had the main mounts to start another tread! I say, let them work.

  38. Depends ... if you play Multiplayer then no, you cant as internet is needed for multiplayer. If you play solo, then you can enable off-line mode ... you need to be conected to the internet at the moment that you enable the off-line mode, as the game will register your PC Identification and save your password. Thereafter you will be able to play without internet connection, for as long as you need. You will need to deactivate off line mode on two instances: one, if you want to update DCS or install a new DLC; and two, if you need to change the hardware of your PC or re-install windows.

  42. Thanks Nineline, I'm sure the team is busy and appreciate the feedback, if I may ask for something, for me part of the fun is also reading about what has been developed, kind of a white paper style as the team did for the Amraam refactoring some years ago. I really enjoyed that as much as just receiving the patch with the changes. If you have the opportunity please let the team know some of us would love something like this.
