  1. It's because I've been over this several times before. I have no problem if you customize my assets for your own specific use. But I only implement additions that follow my overall design principles. One of my main principles is primarily making AI assets which emulates the real thing as close as possible within DCS limitations. For example, adding player controllable missiles is no issue for me to implement. But it comes with a cost, it would mean that I would have to simplify the asset weapons and radar systems to a point where they become very rudimentary and mostly alike. For example, with these proposed changes the custom radar is disabled and Tor M2M will only have one missile channel, which would defeat one of the main purposes with the upgraded M2M version. And that's a compromise I won't make.

  2. By the way, here's a short update of what I'm working on right now. It was suppose to be a rather small project with a single unit asset and nothing super fancy. But it turned out to be fighting me on every part of the journey. Here's a sneak peek of it though.

  6. Bottom line. Regardless of hardware, push the dang button. Either put an input in and then push the button (and perform appropriate stick recenter it procedures based on special options selections) or push the button, make the input, release the button (and perform appropriate stick recenter procedures based on special options selections). Yes, with the hold modes OFF you can “bump” the force trim, I.e. performs short press after making a micro adjustment of the controls, this will not lead to a SAS saturate (except for heading, depending on conditions, wind direction and magnitude) because you haven’t commanded the holds to hold anything. Once you bring the hold modes on, you need to press and hold, fly to the desired state, and then release the force trim button. The reason you have to do this with the hold modes on is because you need to center the SAS so it has its full authority when you let go of the force trim switch at the desired flight control position. The force trim button updates the FMC and the hold modes when they’re on what they should hold. There are no more words in the English language to explain this. This is how it works, this is the logic and interaction required regardless of if you have a stick that centers or a stick that stays in a position on its own. Push, the dang, button.

  8. I'm requesting a change be made to the positioning and subsequent harmonization of the gunsight. The current position of the sight reticle (since day one of release) is too low. I made a gif of a screengrab taken of a GM2 sight video and recreated the FOV in game the best I could, and matched the two images up using the petrol tank cap and the top cowling seam as a alignment point. As you can see the real life sight was positioned higher with the 100ft ring touching the top of the cowling. (dont be thrown off by the sight glass both the oval and square were used with the GM2) This matches with the description of the official mkIX tactical trials report No.46, paragraph 13: "The Spitfire IX is fitted with the G.M.2 pilots reflector sight and although the aircraft is longer in the nose than the Spitfire VC, the 100 m.p.h.(sic) ring of the sight is still just clear of the nose." http://www.spitfireperformance.com/spit9tactical.html I do not have the exact quote but I also recall a pilot's description of not being able to fire on a target that was on the deck because he could not get his nose low enough to land his shots without essentially flying into the ground. I do not have the precise degrees above the datum the sight was calibrated to but its clear that the sight is too low as it is positioned currently and needs to be looked into. Thanks.

  15. I don't feel like I'm loosing much detail compared to G2 sweetspot, but I actually like the image sharpening filter that is on by default. Without it there's too much blur. One huge performance trick is to reduce your FOV in OTT. That depends on the shape of your head, but it's possible that you can cut some parts of the display which normally you never see in the headset. I was able to set it to (0,8; 0,85) without any loss in visible FOV, which means there's 30% less pixels to push and less objects to render at the periphery. On top of that I set custom FFR in OpenXR toolkit to 90% area, again reducing the detail at the absolute periphery which I can't even see. That gives another few % of performance. All of that without any visible loss in image quality or FOV, it's only culling the unusable screen area. With the above, I can run in 90Hz mode, 1.5x resolution in Oculus software, 1.2PD and MSAA x2 in DCS, and it maintains 90 FPS most of the time on med-high settings that I used previously with G2.

  16. Ok, maybe then the problem is closer related to the auto-hover/ap functions than to the yaw-axis itself. Best you see and test again when you're back in the cockpit.

  17. Schwalbe is a module I've been waiting for a very long time. All in all, ED announced that there will be something more from WWII from them. I wonder what they meant. When Kickstarter actually started years ago, it was about the Me-262 too. Now it's been quiet for a long time, but I keep my fingers crossed for Schwalbe and the new map, Germany and Berlin 44/45.

  20. Even if incomplete. The modern Jets have usually plenty of Systems to learn and to master right from the get go. I mean real pilots are trained for month or even longer in a full time job. I‘ve never found myself thinking „man, I mastered everything. I‘d wish there were more systems to learn!“

  22. Intentional change, the loadout you're describing is not realistic for an F-14A or F-14B as without the forward pallets on the fuselage you have no coolant for the AIM-54.

  23. So, what's the solution? Get into trouble with the relevant authorities for YOUR video game experience? Then again, I'm going to take the word of people being paid to dig up resources as opposed to someone who spent 10 minutes googling. It certainly isn't get hostile with people over a video game lmao.

  24. Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, We are pleased to share our progress on the new F/A-18C pilot helmet and oxygen mask models which offer a much higher level of detail and fidelity. Be on the lookout for more updates coming soon and check out the Development Screenshots. Last week saw the first iteration of the updated SA-342 Gazelle flight model that was released to Open Beta. Although the update primarily focused on bringing the flight model up to DCS standards, this update also included an overhaul of SA-342L modularity, making this variant more versatile compared to the SA-342M variant. Please read the details below. Are you looking for a new challenge? Check out the ´Through the Infernô DCS server. 30. I think the 1F-4C-1 manual might have all that gear already. The earliest F-4B weight and characteristics data shows a slightly lighter weight by about 900 lbs. This is probably the lightest a combat F-4 could get: https://www.avialogs.com/reader2.php?jid=4600 So the earliest F-4B pretty much has the same turning capability as a later slatted F-4E. It's also a fair bit faster and higher flying. The trade-off for the weight creep, as usual, is a big jump in capability and survivability.

  33. Tourist Map Version 1.03 - 20230616 Changes / Additions: The Suez Canal is now populated by random civilian traffic (a challenge posed and accepted here - yeah, I'm addicted to writing code) Since the Gazelle causes a CTD when changing OUT of and into an FC3 aircraft, I've removed the Eilat Hogs and replaced them with Hornets I wanted to have the tourist map hosted by ED's user files, but for reasons I don't understand, the miz won't appear so I'll continue to post the updates here, @NineLine may I trouble you to ask around what I messed up so that the upload is stuck in Limbo since June 12?) 38. Source? Source? Suggest you file a bug report with supporting .trk file + evidence of how long it should take a bullet hit to the Spitfire's coolant system to evacuate it's contents in the appropriate forum, then, since you apparently are an expert on such things. Spark plug fouling is in game. And the one thing we poor, silly, tactically and technically deficient (sic) Allies had in advantage of the mighty, superior, master race Reich, was a robust supply chain which meant we could change out all the spark plugs before this became an issue, because, you know, logistics and materiel.... You and I make very different take aways from that book. I see that creating a reliable (note, not faultless) high performance aero-engine during the 1940's - whatever your allegiance - was fraught with obstacles, hurdles and even traps and that the level of reliability and performance achieved by either side in their best engines was astounding; however, the Nazi ethos and politick applied to aero-nautical engineering was the primary reason for the German failures, along with critical exotic material shortages. All of which have little or nothing to do with a computer game where you climb into a factory fresh, perfectly constructed and maintained airframe every time you spawn. Which brings us back to the original point of contention; why shouldn't those who favour flying Allied wish to have a prototypically, and chronologically relevant Allied jet fighter in DCS should the Axis get a prototypically, and chronologically relevant jet fighter? In the interests of multiplayer gameplay, in servers which lean towards a more dogfight oriented, this is almost required. Otherwise you'd end up with a cadre of rather sorry individuals who delight in zooming around in near uncatchable aircraft, blasting unsuspecting or unwary players and then landing, rearming, refuelling. Rinse wash repeat. But then I guess that's what some people actually want. Not to be tested. Not to confront an opponent on near equal terms, where the decision is based on tactical guile and their appreciation of the small advantages/disadvantages they may have over their opponent, where the victor is the one who can out fly and out think his opponent because he is actually the better pilot. No they'd rather win by having such a vast advantage in some factor that no other stands a chance, that only downright stupidity or some outrageous bad luck could put them at risk. That's not sport. That's not entertainment. That's stroking your own ego.

  39. I have same type of setup, and I mostly trim when moving the stick. Reason is to have the flightcontrolsystem work WITH you and not AGAINST you. If you don't trim, there is a bigger possibility that your system will get saturated. Specially on the tailrotor. Small corrections it's not always necessary. But I trim when picking up speed, slowing down to hover, doing turns etc. Doing this I always give the system the best possible conditions to "assist" me.
    2 points
  40. Unlikely, only like half of what you are seeing now, which would be still half of the climb and half of the descent you are chasing atm, because you are defacto abusing trim for something it was not meant for. If you watch the video above, trimming was done intermittently, but the main job is the hand working the stick, constantly. You have a huge body that provides an enormous amount of lift on the tomcat, variable wing sweep, a massive fighter which also provides quite some drag all around, so finding a sweetspot, as you try, is a fallacy in itself. You need to fight for it. And the moment you get complacent and stop, you pay for it dearly. In the beginning, especially when you are used to fbw aircraft or more stable sim modules, or flying with more AP and aircraft that also auto trim, it seems like a giant setback and nuisance. But after a while this will change. Not only will it train your muscle memory to be more fine tuned into flying level hands on (which is the far greater achievement than flying level hands off with aids), it will become more rewarding, flying itself will become a task to master, and once you master it, it will propell your skills in all other aircraft as well. My kind suggestion is: stop chasing the sweetspot that does not exist, start training your fine inputs and muscle memory, and profit long term, embrace it.

  45. People get upset if devs remain silent and don't show anything of their module in advance, so they start declaring a project as dead. People also get upset if devs show off their stuff without releasing the product ASAP, assuming it must be ready for release if there are videos of it. Whatever the devs do, for some people it's always wrong. Damned if you do, damned if you don't

  46. Dear all, It was jointly decided between RAZBAM and EDSA leadership that the F-15E required additional time to test and address bugs identified by EDSA internal testing/Closed Beta Testing (CBT). Whilst we had an internal milestone goal, it was just that, a goal and that was never a public/official release date to move. The Sinai map release has had nothing to do with this matter. We understand that many of you are very anxious to get your hands on it, particularly those that pre-ordered it. We and RAZBAM simply want to ensure that we deliver an F-15E that lives up to your high expectations. This truly will be the year of the F-15E, F-4E, Sinai map, and more. Kind regards, Wags
