На фоне СВО/Карабаха не планируется ли переделывать ПВО в DCS? А то уж больно они эффективнее реальности. Те же Торы и С-300 перехватывает в игре любую цель, в реальности есть сложности с байрактарами, хармами, аналогами JSOW даже у более современных комплексов. В другом симуляторе про Viper от старого ПВО типа Куб можно уходить обычными маневрами, ламповая электроника не успевает просчитать упреждение для ракеты, в DCS С-75/125 имеют 100% шанс сбить самолет на 9G.5 points

I’m not sure why, but the F1 is slowly becoming one of the best modules i have ever had on DCS, and i have basically all of them right now. Yes, it still has some problems, but for sure they will be addressed and the fact that we are going to get 4 (FOUR) planes is simply awesome! I’m having a lot of fun using the F1CE for some taskings and the EE for different ones that requires the INS. It has a lot of personality and it’s difficult to hit something just due of pure luck. Thank you Aerges, please F1BE soon because i want more!4 points

Искренне, Команда Игл Дайнемикс Бортовая РЛС Улучшения В нашей новостной ленте от 2 июня мы уже говорили о первой фазе доработки бортовой РЛС самолётов DCS: F-16C и DCS: F/A-18C связанной с учетом зависимости дальности обнаружения от частоты повторения импульсов (ЧПИ, PRF - англ.), мощности сигнала, шумовых характеристик приёмника, размещения антенны и рабочего соотношения сигнал-шум. Рабочий документ проведенных исследований на английском языке можно взять по ссылке: Eagle_Dynamics_Radar_White_Paper_v1 (digitalcombatsimulator.com) Во второй фазе обновления модели радара были добавлены следующие особенности: Флуктуации ЭПР цели. Реальные цели имеют сложную форму и размеры, превосходящие длину волны радара. Это приводит к тому что волны, отраженные от различных частей цели, могут складываться или взаимно гасить друг друга вызывая таким образом флуктуации ЭПР. В результате этого дальность обнаружения цели не постоянна и цель может быть обнаружена на определенной дальности только с некоторой вероятностью. Флуктуации шума. Вероятность обнаружения цели также зависит от уровня шумов, величины их флуктуаций и количества когерентных интервалов обработки (ИО) за время прохода луча по цели. Поскольку уровень шума на выходе приемника РЛС постоянно меняется, то цель может быть обнаружена или не обнаружена в отдельно взятом ИО. Например, в режиме обзор с высокой частотой повторения импульсов (ЧПИ) количество ИО за проход равно трем и для измерения дальности до цели и ее отображения на экране РЛС необходимо обнаружение цели во всех трех интервалах обработки. Очевидно, что вероятность обнаружения во всех трех ИО ниже чем, скажем, вероятность обнаружения цели только в одном из трех или в трех из восьми интервалов (как в режиме обзор со средний ЧПИ). В режиме поиска по скорости с высокой ЧПИ вместо измерения дальности методом линейно-частотной модуляции (ЛЧМ) выполняется дополнительное интегрирование после детектирования. В этом режиме сигналы полученный в каждом из трех ИО складываются специальным образом чтобы уменьшить флуктуации шума и таким образом снизить вероятность ложной тревоги. Это, в свою очередь, позволяет снизить порог чувствительности РЛС и увеличить дальность обнаружения целей не увеличивая при этом вероятность ложной тревоги. Зависимые от режима работы РЛС разрешение по дальности и скорости. Цели, летящие плотным строем, теперь могут быть обнаружены как одна крупная цель. Эхо-сигналы от таких целей попадают в один и тот же канал по скорости/дальности и суммируются, что приводит к обнаружению групповой цели на большей дальности. Разрешение РЛС по скорости зависит от длительности ИО. В режиме обзора с высокой ЧПИ и тремя ИО за проход разрешение по скорости выше, чем в режиме со средней ЧПИ и восемью ИО за проход (время прохода луча по цели в режиме обзора постоянно, поэтому чем больше количество ИО, тем они короче). В режиме Рейд до четырех ИО может быть объединено в один, таким образом разрешение по скорости увеличивается в четыре раза. Как уже было сказано, режим обзор с высокой ЧПИ использует ЛЧМ для измерения дальности, которая обеспечивает только грубую оценку расстояний с точностью до трех—четырёх километров (в режиме Рейд разрешение по дальности в четыре раза лучше). В режиме обзор со средней ЧПИ разрешение по дальности постоянно и составляет 150 метров. Потери на распространение в атмосфере. Атмосфера абсорбирует радиоволны пропорционально своей плотности, поэтому дальность обнаружения целей на больших высотах теперь больше чем у земли. В целом, вторая фаза обновления добавляет реалистичную симуляцию вероятностного обнаружения целей и различных режимов работы РЛС. В третьей фазе работ мы сосредоточимся на добавлении ложных целей, эффектах от подстилающей поверхности и более детальной модели режима сопровождения одиночной цели. Ми-24П Отчет о разработке Недавно, мы провели работу по добавлению новых возможностей ИИ Петровича, доработке СПО-10 и настройке пределов хода автомата перекоса несущего винта. Мы постарались сделать поведение Петровича при поиске и обнаружении целей более правдоподобным и похожим на то, как работает экипаж в реальных условиях. До этих улучшений Петрович давал список обнаруженных целей сразу после того, как включался прибор наведения. Мы решили переработать этот момент так, чтобы поведение Петровича в качестве оператора стало более ситуативным. Новая систем поиска и идентификации целей Петровичем будет учитывать особенности окружающей местности. Петрович будет затрачивать некоторое время на более глубокий анализ угроз в поле зрения. Если целей много, время будет увеличиваться, если цель частично закрыта элементами ландшафта, то это тоже потребует дополнительного времени на распознавание. И наоборот, цели расположенные в малой дальности и на открытом пространстве будут идентифицироваться практически мгновенно. Система предупреждения об облучении СПО-10 будет иметь четыре независимых канала обработки, точно также как и в реальной жизни. Расчеты на обнаружение источников излучения теперь будут физически оправданными, учитывать форму и мощность сигнала, диаграмму направленности собственных антенн и чувствительность приёмника. Слабые сигналы могут быть обнаружены только на малых дистанциях, и наоборот. Способность обнаружения будет зависеть от направления прихода сигнала к антенне, СПО будет учитывать сигнатуры излучений и частоту повторения. И разумеется, СПО теперь не сможет обнаружить сигналы находящиеся за пределами диапазонов её работы. Например, сигналы от РЛС раннего обнаружения, станций обнаружения и т.п. более не будут детектироваться. Мы также провели исследования пределов перемещений автомата перекоса несущего винта Ми-24П и установили, что они отличаются от варианта Ми-24В, данные от которого были использованы в DCS: Ми-24П. Мы исправляем эту неточность, и эффективность управления DCS: Ми-24П по тангажу теперь увеличится на 10%, а по крену до 42%. „Ich habe (jetzt) nichts zu verbergen“ ist leider das älteste und gleichzeitig schwächste Argument überhaupt. Weißt Du was eine zukünftige Regierung ächtet, was heute normal und unverdächtig ist? Außerdem gibt es jede Menge Menschen die unbedingt und zu Recht etwas zu verbergen haben. Journalisten, Informanten, Aktivisten…. die wollen auch öffentliche Plätze benutzen. Mit dem gleichen Argument könnte man ja auch das Briefgeheimnis abschaffen. Ein öffentlicher Platz ist in meinen Augen auch nicht so ein geschützter Raum wie mein (hypothetisches) privates Cloud-Laufwerk.3 points

Your modules will continue to work. If you have all of your modules on steam use steam, but if you want to you need to unbind from stand alone DCS. The only change here is you can not run steam version of DCS at the same time as being bound to stand alone DCS. If you own steam modules and eshop / stand alone modules continue to use stand alone DCS and keep your steam account bound to your DCS account. thanks3 points

In 2.9 MiG-21 original missiles were replaced with ours, so many of problems you have described should be fixed. Rb24/J and Rb74 for AJS-37 were also replaced.3 points

That´s probably reflection from the dishes, and it occurs in real life according to "Starbaby" Pietrushka in an interview with Steve Davies in his podcast "10 percent true". According to "Starbaby" the reflection makes it pretty easy to find radar antennas with the ground mapping radar.3 points

This is why we have open beta which is a public test build. What we may miss or can not test due to hardware or software configurations we will see happen in open beta. Then the goal will be to ensure 2.9 open beta is tweaked enough before any push to a stable DCS version update. thanks3 points

Если вам кажется, что вы просите ультра-мега нужную механику, которую любой школьник на коленке за вечер напишет, то полностью ошибаетесь - и механика пока не выглядит настолько нужной, и на коленке школьник не напишет. Петрович дорабатывается каждый патч, становится лучше. Хотите большего - ищите второго члена экипажа (игрока) и летайте в коопе.3 points

Not really. I mean up close maybe, but in general 90% of the videos you see of FLIR stuff is at very close range and from almost any acceptable range its gonna look way worse. Especially for early generation pods like the LANTIRN. LANTIRN is also far less sensitive than the later 3rd gen pods and operates in LWIR, meaning you won't even see targets till you are close. There are a few F111 pod videos that illustrate this "phenomenon" with PAVETAC where you basically don't see the target till you are right on top of it. Also meteorological conditions near the target are a massive issue with thermal, high humidity environments will greatly degrade FLIR performance. Whereas nice dry weather in Nevada will work great for thermals. These are major pilot/weapon planning issues when planning actual strikes/attacks. Of course none of its modeled in DCS not one Iota. Yeah so all of those things you mention are things with sniper to various degrees. However, AFAIK all of that information that could be used on a technical basis is classified AFAIK. In general ED does poor job of modeling anything with the lasers on the pods either, especially say the basic not-classified in the least fact that lasers don't work through clouds. But also yes, later pod lasers will have more range. At least Razbam made the LANTIRN pod laser turn off above 25k. Even more stuff that isn't modeled by ED at all is the fact that one of the major feature of the pods is to basically be able to transmit video to JTAC's over DL and vice versa in various circumstances. Of course beyond the half baked JTAC model no one really uses much we aren't getting anything like that. Though alot of that is not really classified but just not something ED is interested in doing. Overall the other half of the issue with the TGP's is ignorance about the topic from the community in general. Most of the playerbases' knowledge of the topic IMO comes from Hollywood movies or other video games that also do really poor job with modeling anything like it. So you have people whine about the image isn't good enough or its too poor etc when they literally have no clue what they are talking about.3 points

With the current plane set the Brits are notably lacking high speed aircraft relative to the US and Germany. Either of these aircraft would be an interesting and fitting addition to the line up due to the intricacies of the aircraft, though with no flying examples it would be tough to model. Arguably one of the most interesting parts of these aircraft are the Napier Sabre engines that are used, producing a fair amount more power then the rival engines, the merlin and the daimler engines. They were known for their low down speeds, brutal operating routines and quirks, such as being so fast they would rip their own controls off, their engines would catch fire if overprimed. The typhoon would fulfil the 1941-1943 period, and the tempest would fulfill the 1944-1945 role. In addition it would be formidable due to being able to be armed with cannons, rockets and bombs.2 points

This is not correct! And it's mentioned in nearly every thread about DLSS. DLSS encompasses differetn features, of which all need RTX cards, but not neccessarily the 4000 gen. The DLSS upscaler and DLAA, which are what we will be getting for DCS will not require 4000 gen but will run on every RTX card, even if they are from DLSS version 3.0/3.5. It's unfortunate that Nvidia chose that naming convention, which can be confusing, but it's not that difficult either: DLSS has different features, each feature has different hardware requirements. I assume we will get DLSS 2 instead of 3, simply because 3 is quite new and version 2 is what ED has been implementing and tuning the last months. I'm sure we will get newer versions eventually...2 points

Great news guys, it's done, it's finished, it's aaaliiiive! Now I can proudly say I have actually finished the force sensing project, after what.. like 3,5 years?! Although in 2021/22 pretty much zero work was done due to family and C19. I had all of the mechanical parts already laying around but the electronics were still very much rudimentary. In early 21 I had made a few for a commercial project, but with a completely different electronics layout as they wanted I2C comms with sigma delta ADCs for a very specific MCU. I am super happy with the electronics now. It is already the third tested revision of this PCB layout and I spent a lot of time optimizing filters. The supply filtering as well as output filtering are spot on and noise is several factors lower than on the FCC3. Contributing to a low noise floor is a different type of resistor that I changed to recently, they are about 25x the cost compared to standard 1% resistors but in bulk it's still just penny stuff. In the following picture you can see rev 1.2 and 1.3 in my Cougar prototype setup. The production units will have all standard nuts replaced with locking nuts, but for ease of dis/assembly I chose not to use them. Also you can see wires sticking out on the side, that's just the prototype so I can switch between PCBs and quickly solder them back on. Second pic shows the FCC controller installed in the Cougar base working in combination with the FCC R4. The joystick button cable for the shift regs is not soldered on, again for ease of swapping out PCBs. However, I did test it separately and it works flawlessly. The FCC controller mounts without any problems to the Cougar base and would be a good replacement for broken Cougar mainboards even if using the standard Cougar gimbal. I've also 3D printed a jig for sensor placement, although the slits are too wide on this one and I will reprint it. The FCC controller is still missing two LEDs for hardware indication of X&Y axis center position, but the ADC filter is now complete. Since I needed new connectors for the Cougar Ministicks which can currently only be sourced from Japan, I ordered some quality filter components together with them. In hindsight that was a pretty bad decision, because the Japanese electronics supplier sent me several packages and for each of them I had to pay a ridiculous amount of import taxes and DHL fees.. Well, s.. happens, at least the filters are working well! The FCC controller has a reset button to activate the bootloader. That way one can even easily flash MMJoy2 and I've made a preconfigured profile as well. The small 6pin connector is for the Warthog joystick buttons, the larger 5pin for the Cougar. For Warthog installation I'll need 90deg connectors, which are already in the mail. That's where I made a stupid mistake.. To get the Warthog mounting holes correct I actually took the time to make an accurate CAD model of the Warthog base lower ring (third pic). Next, I mistyped the measured distance by exactly 1mm on the PCB layout editor and now the Warthog mounting hole spacing of the FCC controller is off. I think it still fits, but can only be mounted with one screw... bummer! Fourth pic shows the comparison to Cougar and Warthog mainboards. In terms of Software, the FCC controller will be running @uri_ba amazing software as standard option. I will contact him regarding a few minor quirks I found and maybe he will find the time to iron them out! First pic shows the FCC controller interface with the optional sensor rotation enabled, as it is in the real aircraft. I moved the stick only vertically and horizontally and the software does the offset. You also have the option of proportional force mapping accurate to the real F-16 analog or digital FLCS. Now the preconfigured sensitivity settings will not be accurate, as my FCC R4 has higher max force limits than the FCC3 (which has ~4-6kgf at max output). Second picture shows the FCC controller configured with MMJoy2 and no filtering whatsoever, so plain raw signal. On the right side you can see me jitter perpendicular to the input axis at higher forces, as apparently I need to give the gym a visit (and I was simply holding down the Cougar base on the table with my second hand). I noticed even when walking around in the room it picked up the vibrations... pretty crazy. Flashing MMJoy2 over uribas software can simply be done via the reset button, the other way around is not so straightforward as it turns out. MMJoy2 apparently overwrites the bootloader and I needed to reflash it via my trusty old USBasp (third pic). I actually tried the older style analog SSC forces required on my prototype (a ridiculous 40.46 lbf / 18.35kgf for full pitch up) and it is simply no fun whatsoever. No wonder the pilots complained, I get tendinitis just by thinking about it.. Therefore I decided to go for the modern digital SSC force limits with 25lbs max pitch and that can be digitally turned down to a flightsimmer friendly 13lbs/ 6kgf or even lower if desired. Now here is the question to you guys. Would you prefer the real deal digital SSC limits aka 25lbf / 11.34 kgf or the usual 6kg such as FCC3/ FSSB R3. I'd always go for realism, but it definitely still is a workout and you do lose some precision when digitally setting lower force settings. Currently I have enough parts for 20 units. Three of them are already reserved for people who helped me out massively in designing the FCC R4 and will be sold for parts cost. The first unit, aka my prototype will stay with me, so there are 16 units left to be sold in the first batch. For this first batch I will include a set of replica F-16 DMS & CMS hatswitches for the Cougar/ Warthog as a thank you gift (see pictures below). The electronics on the FCC R4 will have a three year warranty included, but that's for legal reasons and honestly if something breaks after these three years I'll likely fix it anyway, as I've done with my older mods. If you manage to break any of the metal parts, then I'd be really surprised. If you legends would help me spread the word and sell these 16 units, then I will have recouped all my R&D costs and even have some funds left over for my next projects. These next projects will include a replica F-16 force transducer Slew for Cougar and Warthog Throttles, based on similar electronics as the FCC R4. Secondly forged carbon fiber F-16 pedals and angled Cougar/ Warthog tailpieces. As you may know the CAD models for these are done, I just need to spend the cash to buy the composite materials and make compression moulds. Hey mate, hope you are doing well! This map has its charms despite being a desert, like (almost) all the other maps. In general I'm not a fan of Vegas, despite having been there too many times. Zip down Las Vegas boulevard from the north at mach 1.25 around 100' AGL with the blower lit, slide under the Strat, hang a 9.2G left turn at the Mirage, and blast down to the south side of McCarran (they renamed it after a different corrupt senator lately) dodge all the signs, pull another hard left and circle over the international airport, then back up north, with nothing but shattered windows and car alarms to mark my passing. That gets adjusted a bit for the F-18, but the net result is the same. It's almost as much fun as bombing a certain individual's house in Damascus, and at no point does ATC radio and tell me they have a number for me to write down when I have a moment for potential pilot deviation flying over four runways at very low altitude without clearance. Head over and land at Groom Lake, which isn't allowed. Two ridges to the west is Craters of the Moon National Security Area, the most bombed real estate on earth, followed by Pahute Mesa, one of my favorite places to park bad guys. A little farther is Tonapah Test Range, also not a place anybody gets to visit. At the speeds I 'drive' down the strip I don't even notice the goofy names, or the low res textures, or the cartoonish colors. The rest is pretty much like every other map. Potential target areas separated by runways. <edit> I should add there's no urban area on any map I like to watch bombed more than this one (did I mention I don't like Vegas?), so any time I want a mission where BadGuys(tm) are attacking a city it's usually here. Of course then the challenge is to attack the raiders rather than join them...but maybe that simulates the conflict pilots go through in combat. Sort of. In an extreme way. Maybe just one 2,000 pounder on that tower over there? Okay, two. Don't want to unbalance the aircraft. </edit>2 points

Hey Brems! Feature, the Spanish aircraft (and I think potentially others) use this knob to control the input heading for the CAP mode of the AP. The BIP trim is present in the Spanish F1s too but only to adjust the heading in the base mode of the AP, within a certain range of the initial value and only in 'blipped' inputs. Cheers2 points

Yes the Mirage F1 feels "alive" while flying! A great sensation! I am a huge fan of the Viggen, like you Travis i have nearly all of them and i think the Mirage F1M will be a great challenger to the Viggen in term of sensations/ capabilities/ fun to fly One word Aerges: THX!2 points

Это достижимо если летать с живым оператором, который сознательно управляет радугой. Это полностью его сфера ответственности. Чтобы продвинутое управление прицельной станцией Ми-24 перешло в сферу ответственности КЭ я не знаю что можно сделать. Либо вручную указывать ИИ точку куда стрелять (как именно, варианты?), либо импортировать видовое окно радуги в отдельный виджет со своими органами управления. Сделав из Ми-24 Ка-50. Один костыль страшнее другого)) Первый вариант более адекватный, но как точно указать ИИ точку прицеливания когда из инструментов только глаза и приближение камеры? Просто интересна гипотетическая процедура непосредственно в задней кабине модуля, в полете2 points

This work is not mine, I copy paste what the dude (Maya on discord) wrote on the discord bug channel so his work attracts attention from ED. "Hi, has anyone thought that the sunrises & sunsets in DCS are a bit too purple? I'm a graphics programmer who's familiar with Eric Bruneton's (which is used in DCS) and Sebastien Hillaire's atmosphere models and I found a "bug" in their implementation which causes the sky to be too purple and developed a tool called ARPC which allows accurately calculating the atmosphere parameters. Basically both Bruneton's and Hillaire's models pick 3 primary wavelengths for red, green and blue to determine Rayleigh scattering and Ozone absorption coefficients, but this method simply doesn't have enough precision to take especially the Ozone absorption spectrum into account. ARPC on the other hand uses CIE 1931 XYZ color matching functions to take a weighted average of the coefficients for all wavelengths when calculating the coefficients for red, green and blue. This approach gets much closer the spectrally rendered path-traced reference, which has more blue-tinted sunrises / sunsets. It also calculates a few other parameters such as the scale height and ozone distribution more accurately, by using ISA instead of the constant temperature atmosphere used in Bruneton's and Hillaire's models. If anyone's from ED is interested, I can provide more technical details regarding how ARPC works. It's already open source (MIT licensed, so can be integrated to any commercial project without any royalties) and available on GitHub: https://github.com/FarukEroglu2048/ARPC Here's a quick comparison with the ARPC coefficients, I changed the coefficients in the shader code for it: Default Coefficients: ARPC Coefficients: Here's another comparison using a ShaderToy implementation of Hillaire's atmosphere model: Hillaire's Original Coefficients: ARPC Coefficients: To validate my approach with ARPC, I used a root finding algorithm which tried to find the scattering and absorption coefficients which minimized the error between the spectrally rendered reference and also converted a reference spectral light source and the transmitted light spectrum after it passes through the atmosphere into sRGB to solve for the coefficients. In both cases, the expected coefficients almost perfectly matched the coefficients calculated by my approach: Under the spectrum calculations section, the first line is Rayleigh scattering coefficients and the next line is Ozone absorption coefficients for red, green and blue, calculated using ARPC. And below them, the array shown by “x” contains the Rayleigh scattering and Ozone absorption coefficients that match the spectrally rendered reference the best, found by the root finding algorithm. You can see that they are in great agreement with the ARPC coefficients. Even without more rigorous tests like that, the results with the ARPC coefficients are visually very close to the spectrally rendered path-traced reference."2 points
