I've always assumed everything DCS related uses Venus time. A day on Venus is 243 days. So 2 weeks is actually over 9 years. Which seems to fit well into the time stuff takes to happen in DCS.6 points

Yes, the Submarine warfare is really poor reliable even with current mods. We know the underwater reaction Maneuver for a defensive move is not possible in the current implementation, but modders can make helicopters weapons release and sonar deploy, then with the editor we can make all functional with triggers. Also, the antisubmarine warfare artillery weapons in war ships should be set as fire at point to direct the fire to a posible threat area. but having a Sonar and having the weapons should not be impossible for a Ka-27 make an antisubmarine warfare by itself. Moreover, the Ka-31 airborne radar version of Ka-29, have been used in Crimea area in real war action. Ka-31 should be in DCS somehow to simulate a radar surveillance, then Ka-29 for Assault, and the Ka-27 for antisubmarine warfare. I hope @currenthill find some extra time for these 3 helicopters to be implemented in the future in his package.6 points

Hi fighters Today we will show 2 airfields Herzliya (Israel) and Amman (Jordan). Since the first post about the update, many events have happened: new airfields have been upgraded, changes have been made to old ones. If you see corrections to your requests on the forum, be sure to write in your topic. I hope that we will see the next screenshots of this update from you Herzliya (Israel) Amman (Jordan) (over there on the highway to the left of the airport you can drink good Arabic coffee)6 points

So I’m an incomplete quadriplegic and, yes, I can actually fly jets and helicopters in DCS. It’s not the easiest though. Even with my custom accessible controller, obviously everything takes me a little bit longer since I don’t have individual finger dexterity to multitask as quickly as everyone else does with all of the buttons on the stick and throttle. Dog fighting in the merge is probably never gonna be the easiest thing for me but that’s OK. I can already do much more than I ever thought would even be possible. I love DCS. And I know the idea is for it to be a simulation without too many assists but I think perhaps a small exception which I will suggest here can be incorporated to make it easier for disabled people like me as opposed to just making it easier and more game like for the general public. in my case, since I can’t use rudder pedals, I use my split throttle quadrant as the tail rotor control when flying a helicopter. But since I use the other split quadrant for the collective, I can’t realistically do both exactly at the same time so I have to jump back-and-forth which clearly is not ideal. If DCS incorporated a tail rotor assist (flight simulator 2020 has it and it really helps) it would greatly help us be more effective helicopter pilots. for Jets, air to air refueling is just not feasible for me due to the need for fine motor control both on the throttle and stick. I have put countless hours into trying and it’s just not really possible for me. Perhaps some sort of assist for this or even fully automated tanking (I would personally prefer an assisted version so I feel that I’m still flying the jet) would be incredible for disabled pilots like myself. These are really the two biggest issues for me right now. Happy to discuss them in more detail with anybody at ED or otherwise. cheers!5 points

Hi, although I haven't used it myself yet, there seem to be a very good MH-60R helicopter Mod that implements ASW using MK46 unguided and MK54 homing torpedoes. See : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1cWuCRfE_Npqpx3HPwlp4XY5AeMcj6zzL The Mod was updated recently (November 30th), as well as its manual to work with DCS 2.9. This Mod has a surface search radar, a sophisticated dipping sonar and dropped sonobuoys to search submarines underwater also. It features a armement console, etc. It can also be used for CSAR ops, with a diver dropped by winch and cable, that you can direct to the rescue target. Also an auto-hover feature, laser aiming, etc. The M54 homing torpedoes, once dropped, run along a spiral track to search for the submarine, which has been located by triangulation, using the sonobuoys dropped by the console operator on the armement console. Has anybody used that Mod already ? Enjoy !5 points

FlyStats DCS FlyStats DCS is a Windows application for viewing and analysis of your gameplay statistics from the DCS World game. This app uses .acmi files from Tacview for data import. https://flystats.io/ Downloads Get it from Microsoft Store App Features Detailed player, aircraft, sortie and missile statistics Match score table, supports filtering, sorting and export to image Authorization and ability to save player statistics, as well as match statistics Authorized users can track their data across all of their matches, supports date filtering Tracking of destroyed air and ground targets, guns kills, launched missiles and other munitions Graphs for missile statistics: Splashes/Distance, Splashes/Launch_altitude, Accuracy/Launch_altitude Screenshots How to import replays data Open your original .acmi file in Tacview In Tacview app Select File -> Export Flight Log Save file to any location, make sure file format is "XML Flight Log" In FlyStats app press "Import" and select your created file in .XML format Statistics notes Due to Fligh Log limitations missile travel distance is calculated as distance between launch point and hit point in 3D space and can be referenced as "Estimate missile travel distance". Accuracy parameter only includes data gathered from missiles, bombs and other launchable munitions, excluding gun kills. Missiles that hit other missiles are not counted in hits, accuracy, or kills statistics. If player switched teams in a match, the last one of them will be displayed in the match score table. However, in the player's sortie statistics you can see which team exactly he played. If player damaged ground target, but it has not been destroyed - it will be marked as "damaged" in sortie killfeed. Links Discord GitHub3 points

Hi everyone, The Mi8 is great, but I'd like to see some crew interactions. Simple callouts for altitude, dangers (missiles, contacts,...), speed and systems malfunctions would greatly increase immersion. It would also be great if the voices could be customized by the player. Just a suggestion for an already magnificent helicopter. Cheers.3 points

Haha, that's a hilarious bug. It looks like the Igla is aware of IR sources located behind it. Many thanks for the heads up and the tracks. The issue is now reported.3 points

Just to provide some missing context from my previous reply (as the other user removed the post with the dive procedures from the Pratt manual) here's the relevant bit again: The above was extracted from a -8/-10 version of the manual (which has the same overspeed limits as the -59), and the wording matches that from the generic A/B series manual that was previously posted.3 points

Hey Rudel! Thanks for your input! Currently, I am reworking the manual in the procedures section anyway for the next update (before Christmas), so I will go through this procedure as well! Edit: 2 things: a) Why do they turn ON the generator after engine shut-off? Doesn't make sense at first glance, since the normal startup says to turn it on (item 18) b) We don't have the option for checking max ALPHA (neither on the instrument, nor via the DATA panel), so I left this one out (I indeed included the max g-load) Kind regards TOViper3 points

Low temperature burning means the fuel doesn't get converted into useful energy as much. Same reason older cars produce lost of exhaust on cold days before the engine gets warm. Or why firewood that doesn't burn hot enough (from being wet etc) also produces lots of smoke. In the case of the F4 from what I've read the E model had a somewhat better engine for this and also the US military started using a new jet fuel formula sometime around the middle of the 70s. Those two tings combined helped with the smokiness.3 points

Thought I should report back here about the solution to this problem. Turns out that uninstalling Citrix Workspace solved the problem. I've used Citrix Workspace for years on my old rig with no conflicts. I found some posts online where people reported suddenly having problems with TrackIR, and uninstalling Citrix worked for them. Now it has worked for me as well. Citrix must have updated their USB drivers sometime in the past year that caused the conflict. The curious thing was that everything worked well if I kept the camera unplugged. And when I plugged it in the NZXT software stopped working along with TrackIR not working. So I finally got to fly using the new rig last night and it's buttery smooth. Phew! @BIGNEWY could you please change the title of this thread to TrackIR incompatibility with Citrix Workspace.3 points

Hi Sbenus, some of our aircraft have a special options tab which can include options like rudder assist, this is usually on WWII aircraft which can help make things easier. For the more modern aircraft often the flight control systems are much easier to use so it negates the need for this option. I can certainly pass on your feedback to the teams about having a rudder assist I just cannot promise anything however for the AH-64D Automatic Anti-Torque Pedals is already in discussion internally. Wags our senior producer is a wheelchair user and has to use alternatives from rudder pedals, there a some options out there as you have already described and good to see you are using them to enjoy DCS. As with most things in DCS practice makes perfect and I am sure you have noticed that already with your experience with DCS. best regards bignewy Associate producer3 points

And another update is out: https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv/releases Changelog Bon Homme Richard - New TACAN pos, updated secondary and primary flight deck textures - Fix broken collision shell, better wake (kudos seabat) - Improvement to damage model by Joey45 - Fix floating door, update README Most noteworthy are the new deck textures by ColeMinor, and the fire damage and better deck protection by Joey45. The F-4B still loses it's nose gear upon cat launch, reason unknown. Enjoy, TeTeT3 points

VR is officially supported. I'm running one of the common headsets on default resolution. And your suggested solution to my poor default visibility on default resolution is unironically to make a choice between an ugly game or a crippling disadvantage, which is the exact same thing that you yourself complained about when you perceived that the same dilemma was forced on you merely few hours ago. The fact that you keep repeating that this is due to low resolution shows that despite the two days long debate we all participated in, you still lack even a rudimentary understanding of the problem. I don't see any point in continuing the debate for as long as you make zero effort to understand my comments. I find it hilariously sad that you recommend the same kind of solution which you complain about when it's being recommended to you. I honestly don't know if you have such a high lack of self awareness, if you're intentionally and knowingly abusing dishonest arguing strategies like gish gallop, or if you just straight up don't read my comments at all.3 points

Only certain jets came from Grumman wired for TARPS originally. When LANTIRN came along those were not selected for the mod. Apparently LANTIRN and TARPS shared the same panel areas in the A and B so you would be unable to operate both pods anyways. B Upgrade and the digital BUS may have allowed for more B models being TARPS capable, seems to be conflicting info there. On the D they could all carry TARPS and I believe LANTIRN as well. Some Ds even carried TARPS and LANTIRN at the same time, though I don't know how they operated both if TARPS needed dedicated space also used by the LANTIRN control panel.3 points

No, that's not actually what was said. But you already know this. You are just so absolutely against this methodology that you are — by your own admission — clueless about that you must lie at every point to try to paint your baseless fantasies about it in a bad light. The point of the image was to show to you that even if your ignorant and baseless assertions about how it would look were true — and they aren't — you conclusion would still be wrong. So either way, you'd be wrong. At no point have you ever been able to demonstrate that your claims and fantasies have any correlation to any known reality. Wrong. The trouble is that you falsely believe that it works that way because you refuse to read up on it or look at any implementations on it, and instead rely on your baseless assumptions. You have no idea how it would look because you have never seen it. It really isn't. Scaling is an alternative to the current solution which would be a very viable way of implementing what's needed in case people are not happy with how the dots turn out. You know, the point of the thread: feedback. The more you fight against every attempt to improve spotting in DCS, the more likely it is that the devs end up reversing their previous stance (and remember, that stance was in part based on them misunderstanding their own code…). Nope. Computers don't work that way. To add to this, it's also worth nothing that he's not against people having advantages in PvP. As long he's one of those people. It's when others have advantages that he doesn't that it suddenly becomes a problem. This is why he was so very adamant that the old dots were fine, and why he used the ridiculously unrealistic spotting distances to prove that, actually, it was just everyone else being bad for not spotting things (you may have noticed this argument come up again here). But the second he realised that this system actually provided others an advantage (due to their hardware and software setup) that he didn't have (because his hardware and software setup gave him a different advantage), it was suddenly the most horrible thing ever and must be changed. Just not to anything that works. Because then he would lose his advantage.3 points

Is this your first time using DCS, campaigns are extremely complicated and sometimes new features such as the radio upgrade that we got a few months ago will break things. Its been confirmed above that it’s a bug, that it has been fixed INTERNALLY and is in the pipe to be released with the next patch, and Baltic has even provided a link above to show that the issue is fixed with a mission that you can use until the patch is dropped which is upto Eagle Dynamics, Baltic has Zero I put when it comes to which patch his fixes are included in. BUT he’s also stated very clearly a work around that we can all use to keep flying the campaign until this is fixed. We have issues like this across ALL campaigns and aircraft after most of not all patches, this is not restricted to Baltic, and honestly you’re moaning about one of the best, if not THE best campaign maker we have in this community. He works tirelessly to solve these issues and keep on top of any bugs that appear with each patch, but realistically there is NO way he can check each and every campaign mission and function of all his campaigns after each patch. I would strongly advise you take a deep breath and just think about what a single mission in one of these campaigns requires in programming and triggers to get it to work, and then apologise to Baltic for the absolutely absurd accusations that you made above.3 points

I have not ever come across an aircraft, or anything that can fly for that matter, which I do not like. I may mock Vipers and Hornets, because it is natural, but in all honesty, how can one not like any one aircraft, when in reality you'd give anything to get the opportunity to fly it just once, which for me also counts for sims. The only thing I mourn, is that I have not more time to fly all the modules in all the sims more. From a glider, to a Wilga pulling it, to a kit aircraft, let alone any kind of fighter jet.3 points

You seem to have no idea about how module maintenance on DCS works, and that’s fine. But you don’t need to be an asshole about it. Do you expect mission designers to play through every single mission every time there is an update to DCS. They must rely on people (nicely) bringing it to their attention, then they can fix it, and then it can be released on ED’s scheduled update timeframe. You were given a way to easily continue on with the mission by simply tuning into a radio frequency and that should have been the end of it on your side, until the next update fixes it for everyone. Buy or don’t buy, but Baltic is one of the best mission creators we have. If you don’t like it, make your own campaigns.3 points

Well, I’ll be happy to refund you for this product since you clearly have no idea how DCS works. Just PM me and I’ll send you back the money because you completely don’t understand how many months of work goes into making a campaign that is worth one pizza - and if you cannot wait one more day for a fix, I’ll happily reimburse you and never hear back from you.3 points

If all you can use to activate any RW controls you own, Is your mouth, There may be another possible solution or idea to explore. Makey makey. https://makeymakey.com/ Or the like. This could e set up as a control "pad" you use a stick straw, nose what have you to press the areas. Fully programmable. I made a single finger one to add another fire button close to the main stick. Works though body capacitance. Ground is you, Positive is the button. No voltage. On off There are many other similar type devices out there. I salute your stick to it ness! All the best wishes I can muster, sent your way!2 points

I agree. Even though it was never stated, i assume and hope (!) that the DTC feature is - first of all - a thought-out MP-compatible mission-planer (with DTC features, as well as ground crew / loadout / AC-setup / kneeboard-editor implementation).2 points

Well, actually we already know we're getting F-100 and F-104, that's Century series for sure, but it's nice to have it confirmed . Not really, they've been showing those models in high quality since quite a time now. Whether it's in Vulkan or not that should be them to say since we can't tell just by graphics itself. Last time they said something big about it was exactly that, they had Vulkan already working and to the same level of graphics of DX so they could work in both at the same time. We haven't seen a thing since then, might well be some nice surprise to see some improvement in that regard in the 2024 and beyond expected video .2 points

My wife has stopped asking this question. She knows I am NOT OK! I am addicted! No cure And not wanted anyway! But she will not allow a new super PC to be obtained! Says it will just feed my addiction! As it is, the last time I bought any thing DCS, I got this question, "Honey, what is this CC charges, Mosquito, Apache?" I very quickly replied, "OH, THAT! That is bug spray, and a Indian that was on sale!" Dodged a large vase thrown my way!!2 points

We got this on our Mp servers for quite some time too, but for me the zoom from toolbar was fixing it always. Problem mostly happens when someone with other monitor resolution/ratio fully zoomed out in editor and saves the mission. i fixed our missions by loading the mission, zoom in a little bit an resave. problem gone for everyone. I don't know why but for me it looks like a problem with the resolution and saving from editor... for example: 1. i am running on 2560x1080 21:9 , mission saved fully zoomed out -> guys with 16:9 = stuck f10 map ( i dont know about their resolution) but it was working for me 2. on a event day a user made a mission with 16:9 higher resolution then mine (don't know the exact resolution but higher then mine) saved fully zoomed out -> i got stucked f10 map and so on. saving this missions with zooming bit inwards and resave -> problem gone sry about english hope you know what i mean2 points

The temperature is not really dependent on the time you fly the plane, it is influenced by the throttlesetting and engine design. I've read that the J79 on the F-4F had an option to increase the temperature in the combustion chamber but at the cost of increased wear on the engine.2 points

And even thou the torps we have are "dumb", (lt-58) They will still sink ships if they contact them. So not quite just "eye candy" I have tested them recently. What we need is the MK-46 torps activated. They are in sim. But not available to use anywhere I have found. The MK-46 are tracking torpedoes. SA assets folder.2 points

No GPS is involved. I can only speculate but it's likely along the lines of relative position in localized coordinates. ie FCR flight lead is 4km north, 2km east, 50m higher; target is 5km north, 2km east, and -150m lower relative to them. The ownship can then calculate where the target is relative to themselves. Other data is passed like velocity, etc. to the missile so it knows where to look. The maximum is 256 targets, the prioritization is just for the 16 most important targets. You should be able to pass others but my memory is rusty on that.2 points

By OAF/OEF/OIF, most of the F-14A and B squadrons had a mix of airplanes. 6-8 of a squadron's 10-12 jets might be wired for LANTIRN, while the remaining were wired for TARPS. In the A/B, the wiring was mutually exclusive, or at least it couldn't carry and use both at the same time. I don't know whether TARPS jets ever got PTIDs. Often the designated LANTIRN jets would not have the pod downloaded regardless of the mission they were flying. LANTIRN's air-to-air mode was better than the TCS at identifying airborne targets, so even flying CAP, they'd leave them on and put the #2 Sparrow in the aft trough if the jet was carrying a 2/2/2 loadout.2 points

The target data being sent to the missile is the same whether it's FCR, TADS, or RFHO. What the FCR does is essentially doing a scan, categorizing targets, then prioritizing what it sees and puts the most critical ones at the top of the list (thus the filtering options). The missile doesn't know (nor care) what's feeding it the data as it all comes from the aircraft's processors. This is why you can use TADS to pass the target to the missile. Same principle applies to RFHO.2 points

Well, its pretty apples and oranges. Aerodynamically the F-13 was much lighter and more maneuverable than the bis, but had a weaker engine. The bis is kind of a pig compared to the F13 aerodynamically and much heavier. Otherwise the F13 was basically a guns fighter, but in VN service it could carry 2 R3S (improved aim9B) missiles. Unlike the Bis it had no radar beyond a rangfinder for the gun, and weird canopy arrangement as well (poor forward view). The DCS bis is a very poor stand-in for a VN era F-13... And overall the bis in DCS is quite dated and has a bunch of problems and inaccuracies with alot of its systems.2 points

The New Su-57 Project build 5 simulation brings in its own su-57 Hud and HMD and unique radar contacts and closure rates and direction. Below are some screenshots of the new HUD and radar displaying in the HUD it self, this build uses its own radar and the radar is displayed in the HUD and the radar MFD section. The contacts are unique and feature a line that tells direction and closure rate along with distance and of course the contact it self. Also this new build offers the ability to see your internal weapons in your Arming screen. This is a standalone mod and no FC3 or any other module is needed.2 points
