Hey all, I'm doing a tutorial series about the F4U Corsair. I hope they will help you master this legendary beast:23 points

Mini Update We know, we know. It's been quiet since we announced the C172M - too quiet. But not because we've been idle. Every bit of our development time is focused on bringing our Talon to life, and we're still optimistically aiming for a 2025 release. This is one of those cases where "no updates" really just means we're deep in the trenches, making steady progress where it counts. Truth is, preparing polished dev updates takes time. And right now, every minute counts. We'd rather put that time into the jet itself. In the meantime, here’s something tangible: a few shiny renders of your new helmet (WIP). More soon.12 points

Hi guys, As usual, I decided to make a Quick Checklist for the new Module. I usually make them to myself, but I always make it available to the community. Version 1.0 is already available at F4U-1D Quick Checklist at user files download page. Bellow goes the first page as an example: Second page covers landing, shutdown and armament employment. I am really happy to se soo many Checklists versions coming out to the community. Now there is a style to match everyone's taste. All the best, Sydy6 points

I've noticed the good pilots are enjoying the Corsair, flying with friends, making videos, completing the training and racking up mission hours shooting down other aircraft. Rookie pilots that enjoy auto start and use the throttle like an On/Off switch or push the flight stick around like they are in a dog fight for a simple takeoff/landing are the ones struggling... Post a track so we can see how you are treating her during a fight.6 points

I made a detailed 22 page checklist per the Navy's F4U-1D flight manual. This helps me study all the different systems and have a good understanding of what and why I am doing it. It's also cool to see the module match the real world systems and procedures so closely. The early access manual does not yet have any emergency procedures in it yet so I did some research and added them to mine. Awesome work on the Corsair, Magnitude 3! Download the checklist here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3345416/ Please report any discrepancy's. Thanks.5 points

Any plans from MD3 or ED to add in the future a Paddles with moving arms to the Essex? I think this could be a great addition to have a Signal Paddles officer on the deck helping the Corsair traps.5 points

Hello, just wanted to share some pictures I took today on my local tour. These are the remains of what was former airfield Welzow. Airfield hosted Su-24 before the Soviets left East Germany in the 1990s. For reference: https://www.mil-airfields.de/deutschland/welzow-flugplatz.html Image of the runway approach lights has been taken here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/n2etMFriaet9SBss8 Following images are from objects on the eastern and southern decentralizing spaces. door track details a number engraved in the concrete of the shelter door sliding panel backing up the front wheel. and from the outside. Cables for the door mechanism are missing a long time I guess... Details of the remains of the electrical compartment on the side of the HAS to be continued...5 points

Disagree with the term "working in current state" AV8B all unguided weapons falling short or long from target because ED Weapon characteristics were not updated in the Module since the Disput. F-15E Multicrew is barely playable because of desync problems that were never fixed in Early Access. Even playing single, TPOD designation drift away from TPOD screen therefor all guided A/G weapons are unreliable. unguided weapons have the same problem as the ones in AV8B, they fall short or long but never hit the designated target in CCIP or CCRP. So the only Usecase for the F-15E is A/A and this is not the Purpose of this weaponsystem. These significant problems are just the ones I know of because I could notice them several times. There may be some more problems with them that I did not even noticed but prevented me from hitting or finding targets. Using these two modules is more Pain than fun bit i still use them because I don’t want them to be dead and therefor want people on the servers to see that we are still flying them. It would be easier to let them in the Hangar and play F-16. I don’t care what your problem with Razbam or their problem with you is but ED sold me this modules, now ED fix these game breaking problems one way or another. You already fixed the Radar once, now keep working on the obvious bugs. rumor says ED already hold all the money from F-15E sales. Now be responsible for this one, we as your customer have rights on working products, even when lifetime support is needed.5 points

Here is one of the best reference videos I have ever seen landing the Corsair on carriers narrated from the British pilots who flew her. Going to use this as a guide to start landing her in DCS. Highly recommend the watch. Great footage.5 points

Pitch: Curve: 25-30 Y Saturation: 75-85 Yaw: Curve: 25-30 Flies a lot better this way, YMMV. I don't think it's necessarily the flight model as much as it is the input-> output relationship.4 points

I know the new fuses are not supported, but the ballistics have remained unchanged as far as I am aware? I don't know about JDAMs because I don't care for them and it's been well established by Notso the implementation we have is *VERY* WIP. But I have had zero issues with LGBs The iteration we have at the moment is pretty much a '90s version so that's how I use it. I have been dropping Mk84s on ships and hangars just fine, and yes the pod is quirky but it's an older model so that's to be expected. *edit* I just made a quick mission to test if something changed very recently that I missed, but nope: I dropped 2x Mk82 and 2x GBU-12 (self lased) and all 4 were spot on.4 points

Yeah, that referred to my bug report I did on this topic in the bug section as no moderator was commenting here. I ran my test scenario again. Take off, 3 bags, fly in one direction for 600nm then come back. Center building and the barracks around with a distance of 250 feet. null In general the INS drift looks like in the mentioned allowable limits. 300 ft plus minus. When coming in from altitude. So the lat / long deviation is good. What I am wondering is if the INS drift is also the same amount in altitude. If I do the approach to the waypoint from a shallow angle it looks like a drift of 600 ft in the exact same session. But I am pretty sure if you would elimiate the INS drift in altitude you would end up again with the allowable drift of 300 ft. Whats happening now is that a drift of 300 feet in lat long + a drift in altitude of 300ft adds up to a perceived drift of 600 ft in total, when coming in low. If I would elimitate the drift in altitude here you would end up with a drift of 300 ft from the center building, is what I illustrate here. Instead of having an offset on the ground plane first and then in height too, it would make more sense if the 300 ft offset would be in a radius around the waypoint. But just wild guessing here on my end why we get that picture from a shallow angle. So one question remains, is the allowable drift of 300ft equally happening in all axis. Also in altitude?4 points

@Devil 505 Thanks for the great video link (and your YT video's). Found this video on the same channel describing the UK Fleet Air Arm CASE 1 pattern equivalent FYI, I flew the Marianas quick start 'carrier take off' mission this morning and my plane trapped every single time. Furthermore, the comm's (changed Carrier to a/c freq. first) and LSO rating system seems to be working too. Are you using the mission(s) that comes with the module or designed one yourself in the ME?4 points

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen! I'm rushing with hot news for fans of the OH-58D "Kiowa Warrior" and DCS. A substantial, fully professional single player campaign (quality of paid versions or even better) will soon be coming to the DCS simulator. The campaign is intended for the Polychop Simulations OH-58D module, but you also need to have a map of Afaghanistan (the south-western part or the entire map). It is also worth adding that the campaign was created in cooperation with Ryan Robicheaux, the pilot of the Kiowa Warrior and the author of the book "Scouts out!". The campaign period is 2010. The campaign has been ready for some time, and is currently being finalized. What's most important for you, despite the large amount of my work and investment, the campaign will be available for free for fans of DCS (similarly to my previous one for the Mi-24P). You will find a full description of the campaign's manual (it will be important). The campaign will be available for download via the DCS website in User files section soon. For now, this is just a preview. The most important features of the campaign: Over dozen single player missions (14, lasting from 40 minutes to 1,5 hours gameplay of each) taking place in Afghanistan (DCS: Southwest Afghanistan map or the whole DCS: Afghanistan map is needed) Realistic, detailed scenarios, based on real events of the Operation Moshtarak (2010) and its prelude (although of course the campaign was adapted to the DCS environment and its possibilities, thus achieving a compromise between history and playability) Story driven campaign with a detailed mission introduction, voice commands and plot twists during the mission Proceeding the campaigns as the pilot of OH-58D and co-pilot/gunner/AMC Full, advanced voice package in English, even your co-pilot received his role! Several thousand lines of subtitles in English (only English is supported language) Various types of missions (also artillery guidance), including night ones Dedicated skin for Kiowa Warrior from period of Afghan war As real as it gets - cold starts only, you also need to return to the airport/FOB/FARP after the mission and special mission completion mode Auto ATC (automatic communication during takeoff and landing is used after selecting the appropriate radio) Prepared briefings (description of the situation and tasks), full documentation, graphics and photos Important data in the pilot's kneeboard Summary (including tips and tricks) in the manual, check it before the flight ;)! FPS friendly (tested in VR too), only the most necessary units plus the surroundings Custom background’s music created for this campaign (after successful completion of the campaign online access to the soundtrack) I'm aiming to release it in June this year, so now you have a great time to refresh your memory of the OH-58D ! The topic related to the discussion of the campaign will be located at the OH-58D module, LINK HERE.3 points

Props to the devs, really glad I bought this in early access, the update cadence has been great and the latest colour correction plus new more detailed summer textures really help with the immersion when flying low in rotors. Thank you.3 points

Here is the patch I was talking about: Extract it and copy the files and folders in the mod-root folder of the VSN_F104G. That should fix your problems with the "C". VSN_F104G_Patch_2.8.2.202_to_2.9.16.203.zip Hi there. Just saw it, when you click the AAA/DEF button on the AN/APR-25 console, the RWR-repeater will not show any AAA-Radars, since it is a "declutter" function. May-be that helps somebody Cheers, PeeJott3 points

Outstanding find! I will adopt the above. Been using a mission that I created on the new WW2 Marianas. I have not tried on the training one yet. Going to give it another shot later. Maybe it is me, but from my external view, I was on the deck and dragging the hook across all the way to the end and did not grab anything. Going to keep at it. Really appreciate the above, I will go watch the video and steal that screen shot of the pattern you posted.3 points

DCS desperately needs lots of civilian characters. It's extremely boring when streets and squares look like scenes from Omega Man or I'm Legend. The characters don't have to be animated either. The main thing is that it looks like “life”. Please make something like this possible.3 points

I'm in the same boat; something changed in the code or their auth servers. Never had a problem until recently and now it happens almost once per every 3 sessions for me.3 points

I'm no computer genius...in fact I'm quite tech illiterate. But I've been playing DCS since 2021 and this issue just started for me a couple of months ago. No changes to my pc that I'm aware of except regular game and windows updates. So, it seems to me as if something has happened to cause this issue for a lot of us. My internet has always been rock solid so blaming it on "local internet issues" seems wrong. Just my two cents...3 points

Hi, I've double checked with the team, we do not share data or have any marketing partners that we share with. So we are very confused by what you have said. Please PM me with more detail. Thank you3 points

Hi, my VR-Headsets in order: G2 -> Crystal OG + Quest III -> Crystal Super 50 PPD Visual differences Crystal OG too Crystal Super: 1. the Crystal Super is much brighter = flying during the F16 Night Free Flight (full Moon), you now can see the trees and the shadows (couldn't see them before) and the Blacks are still black. Looks much more natural. In my Crystal OG I have always some kind of gray in the visuals during Night Flight. Like some smear. That's completely gone with the Super. 2. wider FoV = with my Crystal OG I couldn't see the Wings, if I was looking left or right without moving my whole body. Now I can see the Wings (not fully) and the 3 outer stations with only moving my head. And I see a bit more in the vertical. So much, that I notice it without to measure it. 3. the clarity in the distance is much better. 4. the eye tracking works better, is more precise. I always have some trouble with my Crystal OG. I need several tries for the calibration with the Crystal OG, and after the calibration I have always problems on the left side with the precision during the test with the dots you have to look at. With the Crystal Super, I calibrate, and the precision is rock solid. 5. The Crystal Super has the better/bigger Sweet Spot. All other VR-Headsets are not playing in the same league as the Crystals (OG and Super). The Quest III is too dark and not sharp enough, overall clarity is better than with the G2. You can look around only with moving your eyeballs. The G2 has the smallest Sweet Spot but is sharper than the Quest III in that Sweet Spot, but you have to focus on the Sweet Spot and to move always your head to look around. Both Crystal beat those VR-Headset with ease. The Quest III will beat the Crystal OG if we would talk about a bigger Sweet Spot and edge to edge clarity at the end of the lenses (the last 10 %), but it's never enough to go for a Quest III. With the Crystal Super, the Quest III has nothing it can fight with, if we let Hand Tracking and AR outside. At the end the Crystal Super is right now out of the box more comfortable as the Quest III, has 1000 times better visuals and is the best VR-Headset for DCS.3 points

Not possible. ED needs to add that function in core. In the mean time, I'm still working on this. It's not a simple to setup, and it's a new feature for 3rd parties3 points

Yep same here. The noise is insane after a few mins. The best WW2 bird of DCS currently unflyable. Tried disabling all mods, tried at cold start, hot start, no difference & seemingly no way to rid of it.3 points

Instead of spending time to vent your frustrations out in public (it appears you're the only one experiencing these issues), wouldn't you agree your time could have been spend more useful reaching out directly to ED? (Sorry to vent my frustration now, but all these negative "I don't like DCS" and "that's it, I quit" kinda complain-posts aren't useful to anyone)3 points

I would love to see some smoke effects while starting the engine. I am not sure if this is a global thing that would need to be developed by ED as I believe that no warbird currently has these effects. Having seen a few Corsairs start in real life, there is often a nice plume and it would be great to have this in the sim as well.2 points

Hi, first of all, I have to say that I just completed mission 7, and this campaign is my favorite of all the Huey-related ones I've played. Maybe even of all the campaigns in other modules. You had some great ideas for giving us the feeling of being a pilot in Vietnam. The Guam map is well chosen (in the absence of a real Vietnam map) and very pleasant to explore. The weather is great too. I have a question: now that the Guam WWII map is out, could we get a port of this campaign to this map? I think it's even more suitable than the modern version, and the immersion would be even higher. Because there's no more big modern city. The airfields looks more like "entrenched camps", and more wooden houses, more jungle too. I don't know how much work that represents, but it could be great. Thanks for your work and for this great campaign.2 points
