  3. I was overdosing on Hopeium for something before Christmas but I am sure we will hear something real soon, likely we will see something in the 2023 & beyond video. But to the HB team and everyone else, Merry Christmas and hope you all get a good vacation and lets hope for a q1 23 release

  4. In general this actually is not the right thread for this discussion. And - @BubiHUN - I get it, you are frustrated, I recently locked a thread of yours about your gripes with the aim54, and we may not see eye to eye on the matter - which is completely fine, and it is also fine that you try to vent your frustration further. But in the end it is still your opinion and facts are not being presented to you to put you down, but to balance out your impression. Now all that is fine, but what is not fine, is to sour the game for others who just want to start out, have a clean slate and fresh set of mind, ready to experience it for themselves and make themselves their own picture. In case you think you are hurting us with that - you are not. In case you are telling them something, which is not fully public and known through forums and else - you are not. In case you think you are saving a guy from a horrible waste of money or something - you are not. You are only setting a negative mood for someone who was looking forward to something new, asking for help, and potentially talking him out of - I will still proudly say - one of the greatest experiences in simming to date. Just because you do not enjoy it, because you struggle with the aim54 or cannot get past its remaining issues and think that an FM that is within 3-5% accuracy (more than required even by professional sims and additionally one of the most accurate feels), is "broken", it does not mean that others agree and do not enjoy it and share your frustration. Nothing's worse imho than trying to take away the joy from folks who enjoy what you do not. So, if you feel like going on a vendetta against us, feel free to do what you please in the whole wide internet, but please also understand that this kind of behavior is not really welcome here. Not because you may chase away a potential customer in such an explicit manner (which I would honestly have to ask myself why we should tolerate even that), but because you are trying to take away their anticipation and potential fun with a great module and setting a bias for them, out of your own disgruntled mood. That's really not ok. And I hope we can simply leave it at that and I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Please keep this thread on topic, everyone. Thank you.

  6. But this is only a temporary solution! The will roll out 2.8.1 to the stable version and then we have a problem! I simply do not understand their order of developments anymore! Dynamic weather, new lightening......great, but do we really need it if performance suffers like with 2.8.1 I don't need it, if it is a massive performance tradeoff! The main problem is the core and until this is fixed, the problem persists. I am tired of throwing every new CPU and GPU at DCS to keep it smooth. The aliasing problem of the new clouds persists since they introduced it. If you look far away on the horizon they look ugly even @ high settings. Not fixed since when? Over 1 and a half year? Performance is degrading since 2.5 and still no sign of the promised 50% VR performance improvement. It's all about the order of developements and honesty towards the community. As I said: Since 2019 they are promissing VR performance improvements - I have not seen any until now. The opposite is the case; with every major update I loose FPS on the same settings. I mean if ED would tell us, that they need money to fix the engine problems, I am sure there are enough people in the community willing to donate some money rather than buying an new GPU/ CPU every generation.

  8. Another Marianas Benchmark, this time with almost maxed out settings at 3440x1440, with only difference being MSAA 4x or SSAA 1.5x. Thanks again to @xoxen for his runs and videos. This will probably be my last benchmark/video for a while, as I need to spend more time enjoying my new GPU instead of benchmarking and editing videos. I hope these videos/benchmarks provided you guys some valuable insight on how the new AMD cards perform in DCS.

  9. IRL you had to wait until the pilot did the emergency generator test after engine start before turning up the back seat. The test interrupts power on the main AC bus and the interruption risks damaging some of the more sensitive stuff.

  10. Likewise...yesterday I went up against 4 hard-level MiG-25's on the TTI Marinas server in an F-14A. Launched 3 Phoenix C's from around 65nm and killed 2 of them. Recommitted and launched an STT Phoenix at the closest Foxbat and killed him from 18 miles. Bugged out and ran for a bit, as I was out of Fox 3's, but the last Foxbat was gaining on me, so I recommitted again and fired a Sparrow at a somewhat optimistic 15 miles (he was going really fast, though). He launched an R-40 at me as well at the same time, but trashed it when he turned cold to avoid the AIM-7. He ended up flying into the water. A kill's a kill.

  14. Funny you say that. I killed a MiG-31 at 75 nm earlier with no particular effort (the whole engagement will be part of my next video, hopefully out in a couple of days). And not even half an hour ago, I posted this: Since I'm not particularly good, I never push too hard on the parameters, yet I have no issues with the Phoenix, have you considered the possibility that maybe you are using it incorrectly?

  15. Since always in DCS, AI helicopters are even more armored than a T-90 ! In our last squadron mission, I had to fire at least 3 or 4 Vikhr (All splash) to destroy a Mi-24. Since Black Shark 3, we now have IGLAS. But it seems that we have to swing at least our 4 iglas to hope to destroy a single Mi-24! Most AI helicopters are overpowered, overarmored, they resist ATGMs, IR missiles, and even 30mm bursts...! It is high time for AI to be more vulnerable than at present. If a helicopter "survives" an IGLA or a Vikhr, it should be in very bad shape. And if there is a "missile splash", it should result in the destruction of the target in 90% of cases! A lot of Helicopter is as resistant. Mi-24, Mi-8, Chinook...

  16. Hi folks, This took way longer than I wanted it to, but I was able to finally sit down and finish my rockets guide. It is not a comprehensive document nor is it intended to cover all aspects of rocket employment in the AH-64, but instead should offer some use techniques outside of the usual scope. I had hoped to make it a forum post, but the graphics and layout work better as a downloadable document for those interested. Disclaimer: I am not a professional pilot nor armed service member, former or otherwise. This guide only applies to the DCS AH-64 as of December 2022. dcs_ahrockets.pdf

  17. Thank you, and @xoxen for taking the time to do this. This is really appreciated. It's so damn difficult to get any good figures for DCS, let alone a side-by-side comparison of latest hardware. Your efforts will not be forgotten

  21. Honestly, I've never found a flight simulator that truly recreates the feel of "atmospherics", as you call it, completely realistically. Whether it's P3D, MSFS, XP, DCS or even a $20M Level-D full motion sim (and I've spent more than enough time in these), they all have their deficiencies. In this regard, DCS is no better, and also no worse, than anything else currently on offer. Commercial FFS systems have an advantage, as the motion goes along way to tricking the mind and therefore increasing the perceived realism.

  31. It's not even that we need the ability to delete maps.... Whoever is in charge of how servers works just needs to understand that .... servers have literally ZERO use of the giant textures. Like... why does the F14 coremods folder need to be 14GB? Why does South America need to be over 40GB? Syria is over 30GB. Meanwhile, Nevada, Caucasus, and Normandy are < 10GB The F-14 alone is literally 70% of the ENTIRE Coremods folder.... WHY? For what purpose does dediservers need all these massive space wasting textures in its build, when it's literally not even displaying graphics? This isn't about maps, this is about lack of proper builds.

  32. There is not really a list per se, but if you check the coremods/.../f14/liveries folder in your main DCS install, they are all there and you can see which ones are in by default.

  35. Interesting idea. Currently not, but certainly doable. Do you have a use case where this would be desirable? Where a restored (loaded) game differs from the saved game by a number of specific units/groups? This could be a nice addition, but I don't understand it's use (yet)

  37. Campaigns and multiplayer are probably the main reasons you'd want to keep it even if you could uninstall. Which I'm not sure you can, the BS3 installation folder is smaller than the BS2 one, they might be sharing stuff.

  38. Yup 100% true. I honestly don't want to see a F4G in DCS at this point. Not until we have some better radar and actual SAM and IADS simulation.

  39. There is no difference, except that you need to bind the purchased key from our store to your DCS account, which is a simple copy, paste and click affair, the link will be provided to you by email after purchase from our store, as well as the key. The split between us and ED is always the same, only that purchases from our store go to us first, and purchases on the DCS E-shop go to ED first. In the end, either purchase supports both us and ED of course. Please note: like purchases from the e-shop, purchases from our store are not compatible with steam. Thank you for considering our products and we wish you Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

  40. I can think of a few differences: - The Heatblur store sells a two-crew license that saves US$20 from list price, this license is not avaliable on Steam or ED-shop. - The ED-Store gives you a 10% bonus in ED-miles, that allow you to save up to 10% on a future purchase. - The Steam store has a worlwide-sensible exchange rate, that sometimes allows you to get a Module for much less than the other two stores. - Both Steam and ED have seasonal Sales where you can get the Modules at a saving, don't know if the HB store has these Sales. I'm not sure .. I would assume yes, or else HB wouldn't bother to have their own store. No, there isnt, but in the past they have sold custom t-shirts, but I don't see them on their store anymore. A very short-sighted advice, you go out of your way to discourage potential buyers ... surely you don't realize that the more buyers you discourage, the less funds available to fix bugs or develop new modules ... well done
