  2. I mentioned this in another thread looong time ago and looks like nothing has changed. In fact, has gotten worse it seems. I optimize most of the textures. Below is comparison between my optimized textures and default. VRAM usage is at bottom right corner. There is absolutely zero image quality difference. Different shade of glass tint is just my personal preference. I don't have Apache but its textures look huge. All I did to optimize is reduce all RoughMet and Normal maps from 4K to 2K. No change to Diffuse maps. And converted ALL 32pc textures to 8bpc. And all FLIR textures, I downsized to 1K. Have no idea why something you see in small MFD screen needs to have 4K textures. I thought about releasing this optimization as a mod but it's too large and it depends on the module. I don't have all the modules. But it's fairly easy to do if you download the MS Visual Studio Community which is free. But then it wont pass IC so we only have to hope ED listens.

The introduction of DCS 2.8 caused some problems with the previous version, so I decided to revamp it and enhance with some new features. The greatest change comes with the application of the sweetfx shaders which, of course, are optional but highly recommended. You will immediatelly see the difference in vibrance, tones and shading with almost no fps cost. My sweetfx settings will be attached to this post below. REV. 2, just like the previous version, gives you the option to install SNOWLESS WINTER pack, which has also been improved in some areas.   8. Hi guys, We are in the process of updating the MQ9 and above all the AGM114 HELFIRE armament is now working, since the update we could no longer hit the targets. And other improvements still this mod has been a hit in terms of downloads so it was worth it to improve it further. Salut les gars, On est en train de remettre a jour le MQ9 et surtout sont armement les AGM114 HELFIRE fonctionne maintenant, depuis la mis a jour on ne pouvait plus toucher les cibles . Et d'autres améliorations encore ce mod a fait un carton niveau téléchargements donc cela valait le coup qu'on l'améliore encore.   11. Thanks for the response. I have a few more questions regarding this behavior: What you said would apply if the target has not been previously decided to be hostile, and in that case indeed there need to be further analysis to make it so. (Absence of absolute ID) But in my case here, the ROE have already been met for a Hostile criteria, as a Hostile track is being shown by Link 16. This means that some donors on our net successfully met those ROE criteria, and marked it as a Hostile. The F16 has no reason to override such ROE with it's own, if it doesn't find conflicting information. But in this case, no such thing happened, the mere painting of the target with the FCR is enough to override ROE decisions, even though the Hostile nature of the target wasn't proven wrong by any system, or contested. I can PM over a few publicly available sources to back this up, if needed.

  13. Personal thing for me but - I won't touch Pimax with a 10ft pole. I despise the way they market and do business. Been having a blast with my Aero every day now for well over a year. In fact Aero and Crystal were announced the same week. Varjo delivered - Pimax - well they are still working on it lol.

  16. I've been trying it out for the last few days, so far, I like it, she's overall pretty good. There's a few calls she makes that I noticed that maybe don't have the appropriate level of "urgency" in her voice, although I can't think of an example at this moment I did notice it in game thinking, "Well, I woulda thought she'd be more concerned about that than she sounds", but at this point, I'm happy to keep her back there, she's also a little less intrusive than Jester at some points (probably for the exact same reason, only in reverse, sometimes Jester needs to calm down too ). Nice job, big job, well done!

  18. I did a triple take at the damage notification when it happened, it was certainly a "spray an pray" situation hahaha I tried to keep the lines as similar as possible, but for these ones I took a little bit of creative liberty hahaha. Otherwise the lines are about 95% similar

  19. English version / česká verze níže. DCS at airshow „Aviation Pilgrimage“ airport Pardubice LKPD 28-29th of May 2022 https://www.aviatickapout.cz/ I'm Paura CZ. I create tutorials in DCS World for Czech speaking pilots, I am also one of the managing members of multiplayer servers under the name /// MB2 \\\ and instructor of vir. squadron 1.Flight. As part of the Czech community around DCS we were approached by members of the Czech Aviation Association CZAA for cooperation in developing awareness of aviation and aviatics in general. As virtual pilots, we were invited as a performing team at the Aviation Pilgrimage public aviation event at Pardubice Airport 2023 to present the DCS World virtual simulator, our cockpits and our flying experience. This will be our second public participation where we present your DCS World simulator. So, I will tell you how we participated as newcomers in the Aviatic Pilgrimage in 2022. Photos and videos are below. Pilgrimage in 2022. Our presentation started on Friday at Pardubice Republic Square, where we had our computers/cockpits. We had two virtual reality computers ready for visitors to try out the 6dof DCS cockpits. We had a big screen with loudspeakers. The sound of Merlin engine or whistling Mi-24 rotors could be heard in the centre of Pardubice city. Our presentation was a demonstration of Czech and Czechoslovak aviation, where DCS allows to display military equipment in the colours of CZE and SVK: Spitfire, Mig-21, Mi-8 Mi-24, L-39,... For the weekend we had the whole hangar in the centre of Pardubice airport at our disposal. Hangar 10. Our program included several points for visitors: Live flights in virtual reality in L-39 aircraft. Where a visitor as a co-pilot with VR tried out the DCS multicrew with our pilot. (5-10min flight). Presentation on a projector, where three pilots, a director and a commentator showed live demonstrations with communication, for example QRA, Air policing, interception of a non-responding aircraft. Exhibition of our computers and cockpits. And of course the big screen where the DCS videos were running. Children were the most interested in VR flying. ☺ Flying was continuous. This was our goal, with eight of our pilots taking turns for the day. We had the honor of visits from prominent Czech pilots. Here the pilot of the JAS-39Gipen and the Flying Bulls Aerobatics Team, Mr. Čejka. Over 10,000 people visited the Aviation Pilgrimage over the weekend. 300 visitors took turns at our two VR pilot seats of L-39. Thanks to these three days we were invited again. This year 2023 we want to show a little more, to present ourselves more materially. It's about our passion and fandom for flying, for us virtual flying in DCS World. The event comes from our private money. If you would like to support us in this event, a partnership can be created. Jako virtuální piloti jsme byli pozváni jako účinkující tým na veřejné letecké akci Aviation Pilgrimage na letišti v Pardubicích 2023, abychom prezentovali virtuální simulátor DCS World, naše kokpity a naše zkušenosti s létáním. Bude to naše druhá veřejná účast, kde prezentujeme simulátor DCS World. Povím Vám tedy jako jsme se jako nováčci účastnili Aviatické poutě v roce 2022. Fotografie a videa jsou výše Pouť v roce 2022. Naše pouť začala v pátek na Pardubickém náměstí Republiky, třídy Míru, kde jsme měli naše počítače/kokpity. Pro návštěvníky jsme měli připravené dva počítače s virtuální realitou, kde jsme je nechali nasát 6dof kokpit DCSka. K dispozici jsme měli velkoplošnou obrazovku s reproduktory. Centrem Pardubic se tak rozléhal zvuk motorů Merlin či hvízdání rotorů Mi-24. Naše prezentace se týkala ukázky českého a československého letectví, kde DCS umožňuje zobrazit armádní techniku v barvách CZE a SVK.: Spitfire, Mig-21, Mi-8 Mi-24, L-39,… Na víkend jsme na Pardubickém letišti měli k dispozici celý hangár v centru letiště. Hangár 10. Náš program zahrnoval pro návštěvníky několik bodů: Vývozní živé lety ve virtuální realitě v letounu L-39. Kde návštěvník jako druhý pilot vyzkoušel multicrew DCS s naším pilotem. (5-10min let). Prezentace na projektoru, kde jsme se třemi piloty, režisérem a komentujícím předvedli živě zaletěné ukázky s komunikací například QRA, záchyt neodpovídajícího letadla. Ukázka našich vystavených počítačů a kokpitů. A samozřejmě velkoplošná obrazovka, kde běžely videa DCS. Největšího zájmu o VR létání měly děti. Létalo se nepřetržitě. To byl náš cíl, kde se střídali na celý den klidně osm našich pilotů. Dostalo se nám pocty návštěv od významných českých pilotů. Zde pilot JAS-39Gipenu a Flying Bulls Aerobatics Team pan Čejka. Za víkend akci navštívilo přes 10.000lidí, u nás se v kokpitu L-39 prostřídalo na 300 copilotů. Díky těmto třem dnům, které se nám podařili jsme byli pozvání znovu. Tento rok 2023 se chceme ukázat o něco víc, více se materiálně prezentovat. Je to o naší Vášni a fanouškovství k létání, pro nás virtuálního létání v DCS World. Akce jde z našich soukromých peněz.   20. I've noticed that most flight sims don't have clouds obscure your wings when flying which has been a huge gripe of mine, is there any chance DCS will able clouds be able to obscure your wings? It really helps bring in immersion when you're traveling in fog or a cloud and you can't even see your wing or it's barely visible.

  21. What a riot of an airplane. I tried it once or twice on the free trials but never really got into it. This time I have it on the free trial and actually put some effort into it and it's a blast. So I picked it up. I always thought the Viggen people were an odd bunch - they are - and now I understand the appeal. This thing is just fun, and surprisingly simple to figure out. A wonderfully weird and enjoyable plane. Just been flying around and trying things out, haven't run a real mission yet, but that's sure to be good fun as well. In any case, what an exceptional module.

  27. That sounds ominously doomish. What are you trying to say here? That there won't be a DCS Chinook? That it's going to be delayed? That ED chewed more than they can bite? Whatever the case may be, just looking at the pinned topics in the AH-64D part of the forum, ED didn't share any official news or videos with us until late summer 2021, circa 8 or 9 months after the reveal trailer (unless I missed earlier posts). Why would it be a bad sign then that there's been no news 3 months after the Chinook reveal? I mean, hey, I don't want to tell you what to feel. But for as long as I've been on these forums, there have been doomsayers that always found something to give them a very bad feeling about ED or a particular DCS product, and they shared that with everyone, and a few people got into a really bad mood because of that, and then it turned out to be caused by their imagination running wild. Long story short, it'll be ready when it's ready, everything is subject to change, and as always it only takes two more weeks (TM).

  28. If you look closely at the selective jettison switch you will notice that the middle and upper positions are actually both connected to the "VOL" label as "1" (middle position) and "2" (upper position). 2 jettisons the outer wing pylons and 1 jettisons the inner wing pylons

  30. I understand your problem, I only fly the plane as well. You don't need to RIO that way, only flip the switch in the top row in the left corner. You could do this before taking off as well so you don't need to worry about Iceman as well. See the switch in the red circle below.

Hi, no one in our team including beta testers are getting any hits on this dll we would always advise you to check with your antivirus provider if you are seeing issues, but as far as we can tell it is a false positive. We have had issues with ESET in the past, but it is usually blocking connections as can be seen here

  32. I don't use gimp but anyone can do it with MS Visual Studio Community which is free. Unzip the texture file first. Sort by file size. Start with the largest file. Roughmet files should say "Roughmet" and Normal files should say "Normal" or "_N" or "Nrm" or "NM" so you can also search by name. I don't optimize diffuse or color textures (unless they're really unreasonable like 4K texture for pilot's face) but you can if you're really starving for VRAM. But this would reduce image quality. I usually make Roughmet and Normals half (1/4 actually) of diffuse. So if diffuse is 4096x4096, I reduce Roughmet and Normals to 2048x2048. (Refer to image below). If diffuse is 1024, I make Roughmet and Normal 512 etc. All resolution must be power of two (512, 1024, 2048... etc) If it's 32 bits per pixel as in the image below, then change the format to "BC3_UNORM" or "BC7_UNORM". It should automatically convert to 8bpc If the texture is for ground unit, search for FLIR and reduce them to 1024x1024. There's also separate FLIR.zip file in /Bazar/World/textures/ Then just save, re-zip the files and make sure zip file name matches original. Make it into a mod and install using mod manager. Roughmet are for defining surface finish. Whether it's glossy, matte, metallic, etc. They really don't need to be 4K nor 32bpc. Normals are for bumps. Usually used for rivets, bevels and grooves. Imagine 8bpc as 3D printer that prints the rivet in 256 layers. And 32bpc would be printing the rivet with 16 million layers. Original (65MB) Optimized (5MB) Currently, I optimized texture files in: /Mods/aircraft/(aircraft name)/Cockpit/Textures/ /Bazar/World/textures/ /CoreMods/aircraft/(aircraft name)/Textures/ /CoreMods/tech/TechWeaponPack/Textures/ /CoreMods/tech/USS_Nimitz/Textures/ Starting with the largest ones.

  34. VD для квест никак не связан и не привязан с пико 4, придётся покупать версию для пики.(ну либо установить леченую) Ну и в данный момент пико + VD не работает с МТ версией ДЦС, надеюсь что это временно.

Ja, die Repro hilft da bei einigen HMDs, wie bei dir wmr z.B (andere haben auch mit Repro die Probs) Der Haken ist aber, das im Spiel selbst, also noch VOR dem Rendern die Menge an Objekten so schnell unterwegs ist, dass die Soft dort nicht mehr hinterherkommt. Und eben nicht im ganzen Bereich, sondern in Entfernung X. Sprich die Frames selbst sind konsistent, der gelieferte Inhalt aber zu einem gewissen Teil nicht. Also ja,es hat damit zu tun, dass die Soft die 90Hz nicht voll bedienen kann, aber nicht im Kontext mit Panel, wie beim Monitor. Ein Beispiel, dass es (zumindest bei mir) auch ohne Seitenruckeln geht, ist inzwischen z.B. der böse Zivile. Da ruckelt ab 35 FPS wenig bis nix mehr an der Seite. Ohne Repro! In DCS (und wenigen Anderen) stottert das teils sogar bei CPU Frametimes von 8 und GPU 11ms Da musst Du nen Programmierer fragen "wie genau. Ich Noob war immer nur für Hardware zuständig. xD Ja, ich weiß, mir wurde das Ding hier (jobtechnisch) von meinem Cheffe vor die Füsse geworfen, dem Progger gesagt "mach mal was " und dann ging das los. ^^ Huch, knappe 20

  38. Anyone noticing some weirdness with launching the Phoenix...perhaps it's just a multi-threaded thing? Basically the missile immediately strafes to the side on release. It looks very strange. Last night I launched 3 in sequence, wing level, and 15-20 degrees nose up (as is my usual way). All 3 missiles were launched from the tunnel (not pylon) and did the same thing. This was on multiplayer, btw.

  39. The thing is dependent on batteries to operate, that should be a huge fed flag for the stationary flight simmer. The 12K is the one I'll be waiting for, wouldn't even consider this one for my purposes. Another one follows Zucker over the meta cliffs, colossal misdirection and miscalculation, follow the fool but don't listen to your customers. Seems to me they're building stuff to the level their social and stand up crowd doesn't even need or want, let alone willing to pay for, meanwhile we're dying of thirst in the desert.

  41. It would be nice to have the option to load empty tanks onto the aircraft in the rearming menu. This makes it very convenient to take off and then perform air-to-air refueling before flying to the target area on multiplayer servers.

  44. As content is created the size will grow, there is no way around this, content can be managed using the module manager however. With the base install we will always try to keep the size on the disk as small as we can, and then you can manage which DLC you want to have on disk using the module manager. However the fact remains, simulators have always been hogs for space on disks, so its a challenge for sure. You can split between drives using symbolic links, some people will use symbolic links to other drives for terrains for example or mods folder.
