Situation is like this: Yes, and the game has now changed the model of the pyramids, I will explain why. Some beta testers started to experience fps drops to 0 when flying through the pyramids. But this does not happen in our tests. We are solving this issue, as soon as we deal with this bug, we will return the models to their place, thanks for your patience17 points

Not only is it a fantastic map, but you are earning a loyal - and hopefully patient - customer base with your community interaction. Hopefully other devs are taking notes.10 points

Dear Mirage F1 virtual pilots, After this last DCS Open Beta update we want to provide you some feedback, to give you a better idea of what our changelog is about. This update has been centered in bug fixing and overhauling some systems and behaviours. The multiple issues with the AP have been corrected and the turbulence behaviour and the response of the yaw damper has been further adjusted. The first stage of the INS overhaul has taken place, with a focus on fixing and completing the alignment logic. More work in better modeling of the drift behaviour is already underway. Another area where we are moving forward with this update is the implementation of cage/uncage functions for the Sidewinder missiles, as well as other updates in the short range IR missiles logic. Of course, work in improving other aspects, such as the oxygen or the gyroscope systems has continued. Finally, we are glad to announce that, major effort is being put in the development of the upcoming F1BE two-seater version.10 points

So what makes a good map great? It's the small things. Sinai by itself is a very good map. But there are the small things that show that the people who designed the map go the extra mile to make it better. Things that aren't revolutionary by itself, and that other people simply did not bother to do. One such thing is the "H"-Mark. It simply sits on the map and silently, unassumingly tells everyone that there is a helicopter port here. That's the difference between good and great. Thinking about your users, and making simple, mundane things even simpler. If I now go back to other good maps (e.g. Syria), the difference is obvious, and I'm suddenly annoyed that I don't have that simple, static information as readily available as in Sinai. Sure, I could add all those marks myself. OnReTech went that mile for me, and I'm really glad they did. Fantastic work, @OnReTech, thank you. When you wake up after not sleeping for the past few weeks, and are done counting the (hopefully mountains of) cash from your release - please accept this "THANK YOU" from a satisfied customer for delivering a GREAT map.7 points

As a backbone engineer, building networks that span continents, working with AWS and Azure Data Centers, ATT, Level 3 and other Tier 1 through 3 providers, even they fail and have issues and outages. If you subscribe to Cisco on Twitter's BGP feeds, there are daily outages globally on major BGP backbone hosts and routing tables. Every single day. How do you know DCS isn't multi-hosted with content servers spread out? That is not the magic pill that fixes all service delivery interruptions that you think it might be. Been with DCS for over a decade, so my response to you is mainly out of curiosity as you level a lot at them, while ignoring companies and game developers many times larger that have the exact same issues. All I can tell you is, ED always gets it fixed, and the product is best in class, nothing comes close. I offer that you give it a bit, and ED will get things straightened out. Fairly certain you will be pleased with the results.7 points

It's not a a graphics settings issue or a HDD/SSD issue...it's obviously a different model. I’ve no idea why, nor am I going to judge, but it's pretty obvious. Perhaps the LODs weren't included in the release by accident? Who knows.7 points

The first thing I did when testing the sim, was to check out the pyramids. Very disappointing. I hate it when the do trailers and depict it as in-game footage and it looks nothing like the game.7 points

Hello, yes, I'm still working on the summer palette. Had to put the project on hold for a while, waiting for Ugra to fix their spring splatmaps. The newest patch seems to have fixed the issue. I've just released another WIP version for internal tests, so I hope it won't take much time before I make it public.7 points

Hello, as some of you may know, over the past two years I've been working on making Egyptian Liveries for DCS, so far a good majority of this has been completed, but a few aircraft remain missing. I figured with the release of the Sinai map this would be a good time to catalog these liveries as they finally have a place where they can be flown. I know the technical part very well, in theory it is possible with some refinement of the TDC. I have never raised this issue with either Ugra or ED. There are a lot of similar comments, so I think that we will return to this issue. Thank you There is still a lot of work in Jerusalem, I agree that this is not even Jerusalem. But plans change and we decided to finalize it in the future. Thank you6 points

If it's not going to look the same, the trailer should have a footnote saying 'rendered with non-EA models' or something. If it said that, cool. BTW I think the map looks great. Just bits do seem to jar against the trailer.....6 points

Hi! First of all thanks for your feedback and SNR figures. I should clarify things a bit because phrase about azimuth/bar settings caused a misleading. This does not mean we are going to use cumulative detection probability in our radar model. This only means that we have plans to introdice realstic detection probabilitiy calculations based on SNR. Indeed, in general case azimuth/bar setting may affect detection range only because of more frequent sweeps. BTW Today will be published a new paper about our approach to APG-65/73 detection range estimation. It will be interesting to hear your thoughts on that. Perhaps this paper is a bit sketchy, but we still gathering information and refining our estimation.6 points

Arrogant? Narrow minded?! Dude. Seriously? For the 927562836th time: complex missions such as my campaigns CANNOT be turned into MP/ COOP easily/at all. Tried it, failed. MP missions have to be built as such from the start. Therefore, I COULD spend a year building a MP campaign from scratch, but I, a free man, DON'T WANT TO make MP missions. Like I don't want to design helicopter modules or maps either. It's not my area of expertise. I'm a friggin SP content creator. I make whatever I want to, and you - as another free man - decide whether it's something you like or not. Nobody is 'insisting' on anything. If it's such a huge business opportunity why don't you make one? It's like complaining that Luigi's Pizzas doesn't sell Hamburgers, even though it would be a golden business opportunity. It's a Pizzeria for crying out loud...6 points

The Israeli community have been given permission by the IAF to use declassified pages from the Approach and Departure Notes volume of the IAF bases. These are mostly the approach and departure charts. The airbase schematic charts remain classified so they are not allowed to be shared and therefore not included in this link, with an exception given by the IAF to share airport schematic charts of Ovda and Sde-Dov which have or used to have both military and civilian traffic so these two are allowed to be shared and included in the link. The following have been uploaded: Ovda, Sde-Dov. I have also included the ISRAEL AIP which is a very good civilian resource for all the enroute charts, navaids, details of major landmarks, and it has very detailed civilian schematics of Haifa, Eilat (the new one) and Ben Gurion airport. This doc is very good for checking all the small details of the civilian airports, especialy Ben-Gurion airport. I have uploaded to the following link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1l5l29BGmDb-hgvnv74WJsf_YZ7vN6ImP?usp=sharing Additionaly, the full Domestic AIP of Israel with more details and maps is available but it is mostly in Hebrew: https://www.gov.il/BlobFolder/guide/aip/he/aip_Full Pamat 1-23.pdf Cheers!5 points

Against a non-maneuvering contact, LOST is displayed despite missile still intercepting at Mach 2.25 Hopefully this can be fixed during radar rework. In its current state it does nothing useful except block important TTA/TTG information with inaccurate LOST cue. Additionally, think of all of the new & learning players to DCS who are incorrectly informed their missiles are considered lost, it is very confusing for them (I have had countless questions of people asking me why their missile says LOST but still hits) What LOST cue means: LOST cue should be displayed if a Sparrow or AMRAAM is launched outside of R-max, or the target maneuvers out of R-max after launch. First off, I really like the mathematical approach ED is taking. So kudos to you and the team. 2. My APG-63 analysis has the figures you were missing (Pavg, (S/N)req, and L). Pavg is calculated from Ppeak (found in the CP-140 document) * duty cycle (Intro to airborne radar 1st edition mentions that the APG-63 in HPRF uses 1 range bin (ie 50% duty cycle; which I made 45% to account for receiver recovery time). SNR was difficult, but I calculated everything you would need here. SNR is key to understanding Probability of detection. Scroll to the bottom of that excel I made, you will see a chart I made that shows SNR per mode for any given pulse doppler Air radar. In my APG-63 analysis, you can see my losses chart. Using generic information from various radar sources I estimated about 10.5dB of losses in the APG-63 for HPRF. (ex radome losses are typically 0.5 dB per path, ie 1dB of loss to the radome in total) 3. Without seeing your full equation, the SNR and losses you chose, I cannot fully compare our two papers. 4. I suspect you may be using the full time on target (tot) in your equation. Keep in mind that in HPRF RWS/TWS, 3 stage FMR is used to range doppler targets. Thus the integration time for the equation is actually ToT/3. In MPRF, 7-9 PRFs may be used (radar dependent), in which case integration time would actually be ToT/8. I look forward to continued discussion on this. EDIT: I am willing to share my google sheets that I've built up over a year or so. However, I'd like to share it in a way so that each individual gets a copy without effecting someone else's copy (ie I don't want a single shared copy/link). If anyone knows google sheets, please PM me the correct way to do this. Converting to excel disrupts my graphs.. I already tried that.5 points

When you've created your first campaign you can talk about the business sense of it. I know...like those short-sighted Porsche engineers only making Porsches and not Ferraris too. Again, when you make your first SP campaign you can come on here and talk about "options" How dare someone who's spending hundreds of hours building something that due to the framework of the sim can only be utilized in a given fashion deem that it will only be used in that given fashion. Unintentionally ironic post of the year. Yes he does...you should have stopped your typing there. I'm sure the feeling is mutual. I'm sure he'll be up at night worrying.5 points

Hi In this topic, we will separately talk about lighting. We carefully approached the fact that flights at night would be interesting and tried to create a balance between the complete darkness that was during the war and peacetime, when Paris and London at night were the most beautiful cities in the world. Light is important, it creates atmosphere. When creating airfields, various types of airfield lighting systems were used. Germany and the Allies used different systems. If on the original objects the light emphasizes the beauty and visibility of the building, then in the ports it shows what hard and continuous work goes on when loading goods and equipment. Lighthouses and railway stations are brightly lit and you can navigate them. 1944 - war, so blackout rules were applied on the territory. To accommodate various scenarios, we have made it so that the night lighting is turned on by setting the date in the mission: June 1945 and later. Keep this in mind when creating missions and when creating a free flight. ---- before June 1945 - lights OFF after June 1945 - lights ON ---- We use "dynamic light" that illuminates objects in real time, it gives a little more realism and is just beautiful. The main types of light sources are omni and spotlights with physically correct attenuation. To reduce the load on the GPU, working distances were assigned to each type of light source: -City lights 3-6km -Searchlights on towers 8km -Lighthouse 42km -Lights on the runway 15km -Airfield lights 30km So, if you want to implement a scenario of approaching territories that have not yet introduced a blackout mode or just want to fly over a cozy night city - choose the date "June 1945 and later" and Normandy will light up with lights. We read all your messages and appreciate your comments and ratings. Beauvais-Tille airfield. France Orly airfield. France West Malling Airfield. UK Kenley airfield. While I think the map looks great and runs extremely well, I am curious about this too. On mine I get : which looks pretty good to my eyes, but nothing like the trailer. I would rather see trailers show what the game actually looks like in use, not choosing a slo-mo shot at the perfect angle, at the perfect time of day, for a view that we will never see in the game. Even given those conditions, I don't see how this shot in the trailer could have been done. Edit: While my shot is further away, the closer I get the worse it looks.5 points

Surely thats not the point, if you see something in a release video, you kind of expect it to be in the initial release. As a previous visitor to the pyramids, it was one of the reasons I bought the map - the pyramids in the trailer look very impressive - I assumed reading the post that it was a scenery level of detail issue, but it doesn't appear to be judging by the distances involved. Little bit disappointing! But not the end of the world, unless the rest is that poor too!!5 points

Hello, We are sorry for the inconvenience, but the module is still in intensive development, and we have had to manipulate command ranges, to keep things consistent internally. In particular, the last massive change was necessary to prepare for the F1 BE. And of course, later on, things will settle down.5 points

I just flew from West Cairo to Cairo Int in the Ah-64… WOW. I set the date for April 1st at 0600 and amazing. I’ve never been to Cairo but spent plenty of time in ME and seeing the dusty haze in the rising sun (which I think is beautiful) and the Apache shadow across the Pyramids was just stunning. Amazing job @OnReTech with everything and integration into ED’s system. I fly in VR and as I hit the Nile in downtown and banked left I got that familiar feeling in my stomach of flying low and hard in a helo. Absolutely great experience for the digital landscape. Now time to get to do some combat5 points

In this last update, the radar track files seem completely broken. After some testing, it looks like the track files are being dropped within 6 seconds, ignoring age setting. (EDIT: age setting is unrelated to this. However, the "new" 6 seconds are still wrong and result in anything with a frame time greater than 6 seconds being unable to generate/keep a track file. This processing is at the very least performed after one full frame). This means that only very small search volumes (az/bar/prf setting) will result in a track file being generated and maintained in this DCS update... and severely affect Hornet air-to-air performance in SP and MP. Track attached. rdr.trk4 points

Hi @jaguara5, No, no changes made in the FM apart from the yaw damper and the turbulence behaviour. I've quickly tested the turn rates and they coincide with the data we have and the behaviour shown in the last adjustment early this year. If you feel the behaviour different, it might come down to the changes to the yaw damper (obviously depending on the maneuvers you were testing).4 points

We are aware and will look to make the offline more robust in the future. The situation occurred due to the update and version change. I had a flight over Cairo in both the AH-64D and the F-16 yesterday (Offline mode since servers where down). I´m really surprised to see such great performance with the high detail and density of objects. Compared to the newly released Normandy 2.0 map, performance is better, view distance much higher and, objects density seems also higher (especially over Cairo) and lot's of details. On the Normandy 2.0 Map objects seems to pop in from a much closer distance and textures only get's detailed at much closer distance too. On the Sinai map, even flying at high altitudes, objects and details down on the ground is very high. Is the Sinai map made with a different technic than Normandy 2.0 ?4 points
