SHIPYARD Update. Hey guys just wanted to update you on my AI Shipyard progress. Currently, I'm working on the Type 23 Frigate Richmond, F215 Brandenburg German Frigate, USS Fitzgerald DDG-62, and the OSA Missile Boats. Below are snapshots of what's to come. I've updated the Richmond with Naval Strike Missiles. Looks like there due to upgrade the Richmond 2023/2024. What's nice is you can see the downwash from the helicopters now on the water thanks to the recent update. The German Frigate F215 Brandenburg was the 2nd or 3rd AI Ship mod I created back in 2020 when I first started. I just never released it. I have since upgraded all her weapons and radars. It's a low poly mod but it can hold its own in DCS so I think it will be another great addition plus there are no German ships in DCS at the moment that i know of. As mentioned I will try to create a mod for each country out there. All mods are still a WIP. Stay Tuned. Thanks for your interest.10 points

Dear friends and pilots. After a short break, our team continues to work to improve and expand our module Sinai map. Step by step completing the tasks from our roadmap. We don't forget about fixing bugs and adding new tasks to the roadmap for future improvements. We worked on the surface textures and seabed textures, and adjusted the color. Every day we add more and more unique objects and airfields. In Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Cairo and Alexandria, we are working to improve unique scenes. Night lighting of unique objects will become more realistic. I attached some screenshots of progress in the work below. We continue working! Thank you all very much for your feedback and comments.6 points

My apologies. I almost forgot. The DSCG, the digital scan converter group was an upgrade from the so called DVST (direct view storage tube). The DVST was an older TV screen that could only display radar information. With the DSCG upgrade the F-4E could then display more than just a radar image, like TV imagery from the Mavericks or the Pave Spike. The then later following DMAS upgrade, the digital modular avionics system, was an upgrade to the avionics and how they interact with each other, or integrate with each other, and it allowed the F-4E to carry newer equipment like a new INS, a datalink pod for the GBU15, etc.. So one was an upgrade to allow for more versatile displays, while the other allowed for more advanced avionics and system integration. Hope that makes sense. (And I am sure there are many here who can explain it far better than me.) None taken. We did not forget. And we ofc want to take it one step further by making it flyable.6 points

When I first started flying simulators, it was the early 90s. I remember flying around what would require severe imagination intervention to call 'pyramids', and the first time I saw a 'cloud' in a game that I could fly around, was a WW1 sim by Microprose in which the clouds were solid block objects - and it felt so immersive back when games started implementing cloud 'layers', just prior to several titles pioneering the 'rotating face object' clouds. And now, 30 years into flying simulators, the work that has been done to create immersive and captivating escapism truly leaves me amazed every time I play. I honestly can say that I get as much enjoyment out of simply flying around the maps, as I do in active engagements with enemy units. Sometimes more enjoyment if I lose the engagement. All that to say - just, thanks. Thanks for all the work you all do. This is a luxury industry, to be sure, but for someone that needs to be able to look at a beautiful sunset in the darker winter months of northern latitudes in order to remain sane - you've done it. You've really done it. To be able to so clearly explore the sky as the young boy in me still gets thrilled to do, you keep the youthful energy of exploration, the marvel of technology and the stunning highlights of our natural world in wonderful definition. Thanks. (edit - whoever created your sunset is worth every raise you're about to give them.)5 points

Depends on the situation. In a regular warfare situation with a linear battlefield and advanced SA threat. Static and low is the way to go. Low chance of encountering enemy tanks and infantry on your own side of the FLOT. Non linear battlefield and advanced threat calls for dynamic low. Everything else for dynamic high.3 points

Casmo a former Apache pilot says. Hovering is death. There are very few popup maneuvers that are effective. The biggest problem with hovers is that you can easily be taken down by hidden infantry. Even an overlooked battle tank can hit a helicopter with its main gun if the helicopter is hovering in place. Hovering is too dangerous. Self-protection always comes before effect... ALWAYS. Because a destroyed Apache no longer makes any kills.3 points

Glad to finally have the ability to see something in DCS after years of frustration. Having been back in BMS its system is still from a desk sim situation superior but at least i can see something now..definite step in the right direction.3 points

In fairness, there are a number of people in that and other 403 threads who said they didn't have it bound but then came back and reported it was bound and that was their problem.3 points

this thread should be bumped every few month. ok, i'll do it: *bump* Now with the new AI aircrafts being released, it's maybe a good time to revisit this low hanging fruit: Lots of return in game value for relatively low development effort!2 points

Absolutely. System failures are already optional and can be user-configured, the same should be true here. Even ignoring any realism argument, being able to turn off failures is incredibly useful for testing. If you're trying to investigate say, 'x' weapon's kinematics, it's going to be substantially more of a pain if there's some random probability of it just outright failing in the mission. Even more of a pain is if something didn't fail in the mission, but does when replayed in a track.2 points

And performance dictates tactics. Hover requires a lot more power and consequently more fuel, which in turn requires even more power. Also, moving around might expose targets that were hidden behind an obstacle from your previous position.2 points

It means put the cursors over the text in the Bit window in the lower left corner of the radar and TDC press short Like this... Which then results in this... l For DTT this video when it uploads shows the process, go into a TWS mode, have a PDT, and an SDT, cursor on the SDT, and hold the TDC down long, you will after a second see the cursor jump towards the center of the scope and the bit window will show DTT, and you can see the sweep change from a TWS sweep, to a miniraster that bounces between the two targets.2 points

my headset (and controllers) must have updated during the last 12 hours as it show as v59 and I now have the extra developer options for display timer off and detecting the link cable edit - i wonder if the proximity specific option has been re-labelled with the 'wake headset when there's movement' option? not there at all it seems edit edit - and the oculus PC software has just updated. I reckon I can see a modest fps improvement too. I can now almost run 45hz locked ASW smoothly on the Marianas map flying low in the huey with no other settings changed. The link settings are great (thank you meta) and can now take headset off, sit in on the ground for a while without fear of DCS crashing2 points

I've spent the last few days making https://github.com/fredemmott/OpenXR-API-Layers-GUI ; this is a tool for managing your installed OpenXR API layers and removing old/corrupt ones - it won't install them for you. OpenXR API layers extend OpenXR games/apps; some popular layers include: - HTCC - Liv Stabilization - OpenKneeboard - OpenXR Motion Compensation - OpenXR OBS Mirror - OpenXR Toolkit - Quad-Views-Foveated - Ultraleap's OpenXR support - Varjo-Foveated - XRNS This tool lets you enable/disable any of these that are installed, re-order them, and can automatically detect and fix common problems: Separate versions are included for: - 64-bit API layers installed system-wide (most common, using HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE) - 64-bit API layers installed per-user (Liv stabilization, extremely old versions of OpenKneeboard; using HKEY_CURRENT_USER) - 32-bit API layers installed system-wide (HKLM in the 32-bit registry) - 32-bit API layers installer per-user (HKCU in the 32-bit registry) For help, see https://github.com/fredemmott/OpenXR-API-Layers-GUI#getting-help ; I'm often unable to respond in threads, and I'm not able to respond to support DMs on any platform.2 points

im happy to report that the recent Simshaker Aviators beta release 2.6.9 has resolved the problem with simshaker output when firing the doorguns and the "Number of provided pylons doesn' match PayloadLlst" error no longer exists IT WORKS PERFECTLY NOW! Thank you @Flappie @=Andre= @f4l0 i only wish u guys can experience using a doorgun like joystick controller with DCS and having the shake effects with it! its amazing!2 points

Just make it all optional. Some want to spend 2 hours briefing, flying everything correctly. Fly 2 hours with 3 refuels. Only to have a hung bomb. Fly back try and get the bomb off at the designated live ordnance field and land. 6 hours of hardcore milsim well spent. Others don't want that. And so it should be all optional.2 points

The R530s are fat and slow BUT are incredibly manouverable and in conjunction with the TEL radar mode (Hud autolock) are a great way to kill a head on target. Not BVR in any sense but useful nonetheless.2 points

The Mirage F1 is not comparable to the Viper or the Strike Eagle. It's a 70's interceptor, designed to go straight and fast. Not a dogfighter but it can hold its ground against contemporaries as long as you remain fast. Relative to Fox 2 missiles: Magic 2 and AIM-9JULI are good, Magic 1 and the other Sidewinders range from mediocre to useless. Fox 1 missiles: 530F is somewhat decent, the others are pretty much dead weight (a lot of weight). The Mirage 2000 is a capable dogfighter, can maneuver much better and has as great radar and missiles. Being fbw, you can fly it in a careless way without worrying about stalling the engine or frying the avionics. You don't have that luxury in the F1.2 points

The Mirage F1 is an interceptor with a Radar from the 70s so it's not comparable to the Viper and Strike Eagle, but more to the MiG-21 and such, maybe the MiG-23, it's not agile because it's meant to go fast not be the best at low speed, and the radar you can mostly lock at 15nm max but the radar is not accurate right now sadly2 points
