  1. Hello everyone. I'm pleased to inform you that the next Open Beta update will include the first set of revisions and updates to the F-16 manual. The manual has increased in size from 318 to 452 pages, and includes a mix of revisions and new content. Below is a screenshot of the most recent entry in the Latest Changes list that illustrates what you can expect in the update. The next edition will also include a greater use of embedded and discrete hyperlinks to facilitate easier navigation. Expandable bookmark entries will be present, however in some cases there may be options to directly click on an entry to take you to the applicable section. For example, if you were to click on the orange box labeled "Data Entry Display (DED)" in the cockpit image above, the manual will proceed to the following page outlining the DED: From this page, you may then click on "CNI", and the manual will proceed to the specific sub-section explaining the DED's CNI page in greater detail. Not all figures will include hyperlinks (in some cases because the sections have not been completed yet), but if you mouse over a word box and your mouse pointer changes to a small hand icon, that will indicate that you may click to go directly to a manual section that explains that item or function in greater detail. Finally, I want to stress that this is just the first set in a series of updates. As you can see in the Latest Changes image above, there is still a ways to go; but the actual progress is further along than what you will see in the next manual version, and work has not stopped since pushing this version for publishing. Thank you to all the virtual Viper pilots out there for your patience. Respectfully, Raptor

  4. If you have the hard disk space, install the stable version before it also gets pushed to 2.8. You can blame 2.8 for the performance loss for sure. My personal guess is that people who dont see a performance drop just have not a system that was on the limit before 2.8. So they just dont realize it. If people in VR dont see a performance drop they might be using some kind of motion smoothing which does not care if they had 65 fps but now have only 55 fps, because it clamps it at 45 fps anyway. Just wild guesses. This needs to be fixed or adressed or whatever. I dont want to accept a performance drop and rely on that we get multithreading soon or not so soon. I am glad that it was announced. But it was announced for next year. That means 13 months from now.

  5. Here is my list game mechanics Cargo editor- we should be able to preload troops and equipment on transport vehicles. Airdrop waypoint- the ability to launch/spawn troops and vehicles from amphibious assault ships fast rope repel and hover waypoint for helicopters give artillery the ability to fire multiple shell types and work with a forward observer and spotter plane the ability to load multiple weapon types on ships A generic control template for planes and helicopters, I'm not saying get rid of the vehicle specific ones just give us the ability to set default controls which DCS will use to populate a new module. waypoints for SAR operations bring back the mission classification from Flanker 1 Assets More Naval assets especially WWII naval assets, we have 2 Normandy maps and there is a WWII Marianas map in the pipe so I would like the overlord invasion fleet and some Japanese and American ships for the Marianas. I'd also like more cold war and modern ships. Korean war era assets- we have the F-51, F-86, MiG-15 now we need ground targets. So add some Red army assets to the WWII asset pack as well as some period aircraft to the core Vietnam war era- there are some aircraft in the pipe to flesh out the Vietnam era but anything will be welcome Maps- I'd love to see the fulda gap, Korea and something East front for the I-16 perhaps Kursk modules- Red AF WWII - the IL-2 and 10 are a must. I don't care which Yaks we get as long as they overlap with the I-16 and MiG-15 Red cold war- if possible Su-24, su-25 and MiG-27. Yak-38, su-7 and 9, I'm not too picky really France Super Entendard, Mirage III and V, and jagurar US F-84, F-884F, F-105, F-80, A-26, F-102/6, F-104 and F-111 F2h, FJ, F9F, F6F, SBD, TBF- anything naval from WWII and Korea more Phantoms British- anything really but the following are top on my list Tornado, Sea Harrier, Canberra, Seafire, bucaneer, ( Japan- WWII carrier airwing edited to add more

  7. I loaded weapons on the F-4E at Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina. Here's a list of A2G weapons I recall loading: AGM-65 Maverick, single launcher and triple. (TV guided only.) Mk82 500# iron bomb, slick and high drag "Snake Eyes" Mk20 Cluster munition Suu-30 Cluster munition 750, 1000, and 2000lb slicks 500, 750, 1000 and 2000 laser guided bomb A chemical munition (I forget the designation) I only loaded the chemical munition one time and they had rabbits in cages on the trailer. The instructions were, if a rabbit died or started acting funny it was time to run like hell, or put on your MOPP gear. (My crew chief gave us a standing order to run.) Alternatively, there could have been birds (most likely parakeets) in cages. B-57 and B-61 nuclear bombs (inboard pylons and centerline rack) The Phantom also carried Blu-27's (napalm) although I never loaded any. (We used to sing a little ditty that went something like this....Napalm sticks to little kids, do dah, do dah; Napalm sticks to little kids oh do dah day! Time to fry all night, time to fry all day... there was more but it escapes me atm.) I'm sure I am missing some munitions, it's been 40 years since I worked on the F-4. I'm sure others can add to this list. Oh, the Phantom started off carrying 2.75" rockets but had to stop because of a plastic piece on the tail end of the munition that was getting ingested by the engines and causing turbine damage. Practice munitions: Cap-9 Sidewinders, TGM-65 Mavericks, BDU-33 and Mk-106 practice bombs. We loaded Mk-106s into SUU-20's and loaded the BDU-33's on MERs and TERs. I'm not sure what that is, can you offer a further explanation?

  8. Thanks for posting. This is purely an OpenComposite bug, which I have reported to the OpenComposite developer. I am not sure when/if they will address it. Next version of OpenXR Toolkit will implement a fix in case OpenComposite is not fixed by then.

  9. Got my own Eurofighter model working in Unreal. There's no flight simulation happening - it's not even actually moving - the gamepad just controls pitch and roll around a point. Control surface movement is probably excessive, and I realise the foreplanes aren't simply linked to pitch input as they are here. It was complicated enough just getting this far, and I'm pretty pleased with the amount of new stuff I've learned in the process. Detail of the cockpit...

  12. Just to avoid any confusion about FPS. I Read something about the Main-Rotor is much too high poly Please keep in mind that that effect results in baking the High-Poly mesh on the Low Poly one. It may look like killing FPSs, but that's just a game on tricking the eyes. The Normal Maps are overriding the hard edges

  13. Here's some tests on the effectiveness of the BLU-97/B bomblets that are dispensed by the AGM154A. The 154A dispenses a total 145 bomblets, 28 of which are visible. I have modified the LUA of the JSOW to only dispense one bomblet. A large contributing factor to the poor performance of the JSOW-A is that the bomblets that it dispenses are complete rubbish, requiring multiple direct hits to basically anything that's not infantry to kill it.

  15. Seconded, lights are awesome, but they should be stretching out to the horizon. It shouldn't tax performance because aside from Dubai, there's not a whole lot of them between the cities.

  16. The PG lighting looks great down low. I fly VR and even with extreme view distance the lighting is only drawn to about 5 miles making it a non factor in VR. Any word if this is being address in the next update or is that a dcs 3.0 addition? Thanks -Gun

  17. The problems with most customers not getting what they ordered started when N.E. Opened their Marketplace, Like Amazon, Scam companies came in and people hold N.E. Responsible, especially when the scam companies take money for 30-45 days and then disappear, as stated above, happens on more than just newegg. But NewEgg simply has been getting more attention now, due to the graphics card scandal, and the QA being short staffed as a result of CV19, there's simply logistics problems as a result of policies not being followed during the pandemic. There's just as many YT Streamer Videos about Amazon and other re-sellers as there are about NewEgg. The only issue is, he's allowed to express his opinion, there's no need to get upset over it and tell him to stop. If you dont agree with it, then you can hide the topic.

  19. I’ve never been big on night missions, but the new lighting is really adding that something extra! Team is doing a great job! My biggest complaint before was airport lighting, but now its much easier to navigate around them and locate them from a distance. Still a little tough to see the taxiway exits from the runways but its much better than it used to be! I do feel like the moon at times , and stars could pop a little more, maybe someday. Overall it’s looking very good. Very welcomed upgrades!

  21. Yeah pretty sure Aerges plans to implement the S530F for all the variants they are doing. But thus far progress has been slow with fixing the missiles. And for the S530F they also need ED to model the actual missile behavior as I understand it. Which might be interesting given the snap up mode and how much (if at all) it differs from the normal mode. I.e. it may all be plane side stuff for snap in which case thats easier on ED.

  23. Hi @DDG 1- This is a potential bug, thank you for bringing this up. Reported internally. 2- This, needs more clarification. It's also a bug, but, you're not following correct procedures. You need to turn the EPU to ON prior to touchdown. Currently, however, this doesn't change anything, and the EPU still turns off. And that's not intended. Also Reported.

  24. Having these at ALL, Coalition or Group is too broad. As these are the only way to have a player directly interact with the mission / AI / story, then these really must, from a Mission / Campaign Designer's point of view, need adding as soon as humanly possible. So many interesting interactions are just impossible if a player Unit can't have their own menu commands to interact with the story/mission design. Even an event like this where the initiator is the player Unit: S_EVENT_RADIO_COMMAND That was mentioned in this amazing post last year: We desperately need these... please. missionCommands.addCommandForUnit() missionCommands.addSubMenuForUnit() missionCommands.removeItemForUnit()

  25. Hello I wanted to make a post regarding the Super 530F in Spanish service since there seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding it. To begin let me state that no pictures/documents that currently exist show the S.530F being used on a Mirage F1M. However I believe that this missile could have realistically been used in a "what if" scenario. My first point is that the Spanish Air force purchased 12 Qatari Mirages in the 90's, with that deal came around 40-60 Matra Super 530s. Four of these aircraft would be included in the Mirage F1 upgrade Program. The rest of these aircraft were retired and used for spare parts. Despite this these missiles were not retired from service or sold and one would even end up in America in 2020 where Draken was sold 20 F1Ms. The cause for this missile being shipped to Draken is still unknown, but the fact that these weapons were so close to the Mirages leads me to believe that at the very least some of these aircraft can fire the missile. A missile also appeared in Italy in 2019 when the Mirage fleet was being sold off however this case is even more unclear than the American one. The Mirage F1M upgrade program included an improved Cyrano IVM radar which is very similar to the one used by the Mirage F1CT which can fire the S.530F, the S.530 also uses a rail similar to the R.530’s. In 2006 Spain deployed their Mirage F1Ms in support of NATO air policing in Lithuania. These aircraft were not seen with S.530Fs which may lead some to believe that these aircraft did not support the weapon. However this was peacetime air policing in a relatively low threat area, which means that the ROE required visual identification and therefore these BVR missiles would be basically useless compared to more loiter time with External fuel tanks. So what if NATO and Spain got into a desert storm like conflict with Syria/Iran/Whatever Nation in the 2000s? While I'm certainly not a Military expert or Airforce commander I am going to take an educated guess on the combat use of the Mirage F1M circa 2001-2013. Around half of the F1M fleet would probably be used as rear line interceptors tasked with scrambling and using their speed to engage any aircraft that snuck past the front line air defenses. These Interceptors would be armed with S.530Fs, and French Pilots could possibly be used to quickly train the Spanish ones with the weapons. The other half would most likely be used as "flying bomb racks" to provide more advanced aircraft/drones with more firepower. The un-upgraded CE and EE fleet would be kept in Spain for spare parts because of their lack of secure comms and IFF. So in summary I believe there is a good chance that the Super 530 would be used on the Mirage F1M in a conflict involving Spain, in fact it may have been planned by the Spanish Air Force incase of emergency. However I cannot confirm this but hopefully Aerges can shed some light on this with their development of this missile and the future Mirage F1M. Regardless I have been greatly enjoying the Mirage F1 module so far and am excited for It's future development. I have more than likely gotten some of this information wrong so feel free to correct me or share your thoughts.

  26. I couldn't find a logical thread to place this in so my apologies if I missed it somewhere along the way. I want to say thanks to the developers for toning down the light bloom from the tankers' navigation lights during nighttime tanking operations while using NVGs. I just noticed this yesterday and confirmed it tonight during a squad MP mission. Not having ever done anything like AAR, much less during the night with NVG's on, I can't say one way or the other how realistic is was before or is now but I can say that this new version makes the NVG's much more valuable (useful) and I have to say Thank you for that!! Please keep up the great work y'all are doing on the core of the simulation. It is noticed and very much appreciated.

  32. SJW coming to big tech rescue here. Good. I submitted my evidence. You disagree? Your opinion. Your opinion like many others...just suck. I've shopped Newegg since 2007, I'm an eggspert reviewer there since 2011 and after buying thousands of things from Newegg over the years, since the Chinese took over its been bad. You don't see it? Just read the thread, but you don't get to come in here and sh*t on my concerns because you believe a thing and have wood for Newegg. Just because you've never been scammed by anyone selling on Newegg doesn't mean it wont...and when it happens, don't come cryin' here, bud. Take the SJW 'tude somewhere else. I'm done with you.

  33. Thank you very much friend, for my part it is clear. If you are the author of the OpenXR toolkit, I congratulate you for your marvelous application, I was a programmer of video games in machine language(assambler) for 8 bits (z80 Zilog) and I'm already a little rusty but I know how to appreciate the work that there is behind all this. My doubt mainly came from the issue that using one dll instead of another did not affect the operation of openXR in DCS, personally I have the general version installed with OpenComposite and I have not needed to replace this library that is delivered with the DCS patch. Thanks for all.

  34. AH-64D Development Report The next Open Beta update will include 3D-animated pilot and co-pilot/gunner models from the first person perspective. The update will also include Image Auto-Track (IAT) with the Multi-Target Track (MTT) sub-mode. The Performance (PERF) page will be at a complete state. Improvements have been made to the flight model and flight control system with further work planned. DCS: AH-64D is one step closer to being available in the Free Trial Program. Please stay tuned for more information and watch Matt Wagner’s video on AH-64D on IAT/MTT. Early next year you may look forward to the new AGM-114L radar-guided Hellfire missile and the improved data modem (IDM) for networked operations. The option of the auxiliary fuel tank or extra gun ammunition is also coming soon. Early next year will also see the beginning of Fire Control Radar (FCR) development. Bye Phant

  38. New campaign released ! This campaign is purposely scaled down to allow more fluidity in the game and leave in place "live" units that can defend and move. The campaign succinctly retraces the fighting between France and Libya in Chad around 1987. The distances on the map are not realistic but it allows you to keep missions sufficiently animated by avoiding long navigations... https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/fr/files/3327817/ This campaign uses Dimitriov's excellent FrenchPack (Currently V4.9.1 available here: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/257437-frenchpack-v491-update-on-27042022/ ) Don't forget to copy paste the corrected "Frenchpack_ERC90.lua" file that I provide in the main Frenchpack folder after its installation because there is a small bug line 161... The pilotable devices are for the moment the Gazelle and the Mirage F-1 on the French side. The campaign provided uses the new concept of a "clonable" campaign allowing to choose with which device to do the campaign with the interface of DCE_Manager (see the installation PDF)

  40. AMBER could do that, but what would be the point? I don't see much of a point in putting AMBER on a Super Hornet unless the outer wing pylons can support the weight of two AIM-120s. Then maybe it makes sense if you want to, say, carry air to ground stuff on the inner four wing hardpoints but still want 4-5 AIM-120s on board too. That would be one HEAVY Super Hornet though. AMBER is also supposed to carry bombs, but again, I don't see the point when the BRU-33. -42, -55, and -57 already exist and do exactly the same job - carry two bombs where one would otherwise go. It makes sense for the F-15EX since the AIM-120s need to be carried closer together to clear the targeting pods, and also for the F-35 if something big like a JSOW is on the inboard wing pylon and you need two AIM-120s next to it. Not totally sure it's worth it for a Super Hornet though. Outer wing pylon implementation is still WIP, but getting closer. Just missing textures now.null

  42. F-pole is the distance from you to the bandit at the time of missile impact. M-pole is the distance from you to the bandit when missile goes pitbull. A-pole is the distance from you to the bandit when the missile goes husky, that is, HPRF (longer range, but worse clutter rejection). Note that this isn't implemented in DCS. E-pole is another term for MAR, basically the minimum distance at which you can start defending and not enter bandit's NEZ.

When dates are mentioned as "planned", these are often interpreted as promises or guarantees. I completely understand your position, and I want the first round of updates pushed out as soon as possible. However, as much as it pains me to say it, I can't give any ETA or estimates at this time. This is the best way.
